NSV's that no one talks about?

THATS GOOD, BUT, I STILL WANT TO BE A PORN STAR! NSV = I JUST PLAIN MOVE BETTER!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

NSV - I just bought size 10 dressy shorts & capris at New York & Company. 5 months ago I was in an 18! The 10s were actually a touch loose too ! I'll tell you this surgery was the best thing I've ever done but man is it expensive clothes wise! My scale has been stagnant or even has gone up a couple pounds here or there in April so going down another size helped my psyche for sure.
  3. Can’t wait for this. I lost 90lbs presurgery and I’m down about 10 more post ( just over 2 weeks). And I feel I should be happy with 100 down, but I’m struggling to find NSVs and this is a big one I’m looking forward to.
  4. Eating a cookie may not sound like a NSV, but two days I ate one Girl Scout thin mint cookie. Not one box. Not one row. Just one cookie! It was my first one post surgery 1.5 years ago. Trying to make sure it’s not a slippery slope, but leaving the rest in the fridge for my family. I savored every bite of the ONE I had.
  5. These "small" victories are such big deals. Congrats on this NSV - it's a good one!

    Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

Have a mixed NSV from today! I'm 5 weeks out, and flew Southwest today to visit my parents for the holiday. I paid in advance for the COS extra seat policy, and when I got there I was stopped by a supervisor and told I wasn't big enough to qualify. I'm down 30lbs since surgery and about 45 since I last flew. The downside is that I'm still big enough that people don't exactly look thrilled to have me as a seatmate!
  7. OK, here's a funny one. I need to start off by saying that my husband is supportive, thinks I'm beautiful at 240 pounds when we first met 18 years ago, all the way up to when I weighed almost 400. I've lost 165 so far and naturally have a ton of loose skin. You can also feel a lot of my bones now underneath it all. Anyway, my husband and I were lying in bed and talking about my progress and I was talking about the loose skin, and he said yeah, I have a sack-o-Tricia now! Now I know this may sound like an insult, but he was just saying it was crazy how much I've lost, and I died laughing at "Sack-o-Tricia". And what I love about it is that he knows that Tricia is the person I am, not the shell I am inside. And I love him for that. He's always loved me for me. So it's sort of a NSV, but also I'm super lucky to have such a supportive husband. I'm pretty darned proud to be a Sack-o-Tricia now! [emoji1787] Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. New nsv for me is feeling lighter on my feet. Just being able to stand in my heels for a longer period of time and noticing that my feet are not hurting.
  9. I can relate somehow. My negative NSV is that I've lost the "padding" I used to have and now sitting for a long period of time hurts haha.
  10. So it turns out that 7kg or about 15.5 pounds is what I need now. Took some trial and error but my buoyancy seemed pretty good with that weight. Another weird NSV - I play the violin and I am going to need a new shoulder rest. There is a lot more room between my chin and shoulder now. I hadn't even thought about that until I wondered why I was cramping up during rehearsal the other night.
  11. I've had a few new NSVs the past couple of weeks: I visited my parents last week and we were hanging out in their backyard. I have avoided their patio furniture for years because the chairs were too small for me and I always felt like they might break from my weight. I tried sitting in them and I fit no problem, and I was actually comfortable! I went camping for the first time in over a year and planned to do some hiking. I didn't plan ahead very well though because the only pair of pants I brought were too big, so hiking ended up not being much fun because I was constantly having to pull up my pants. And the best one, I just had my A1C checked for the first time since my surgery, and it is below 5, without any medication! I haven't talked with my doctor yet about what that means exactly, but I was thrilled to know that my A1C is that low without any medication.
  12. Yes!!! That towel NSV nearly made me cry when it happened. I still tear-up when I say that I'm no longer diabetic.
  13. I had a really odd NSV that ended up being a bit expensive lol. I’m only 4 weeks post op, but I was forced into a corporate meeting where I was going to have a wear a suit. I was PISSED. I have smaller and larger sized suits, but I was between the sizes I currently owned. Wasn’t about to invest in another suit. I managed to find something halfway decent at Kohls, and I was able to fit into a X-Large or Large off the rack. (the large size was generous and stretch, of course). Then I freaked out because all of the dress shoes I have are too narrow and small. I went to DSW and they were having a boot sale. Well, I went wild. I was so happy to be able to fit into tall REGULAR calf sized boots that I bought, ahem, SEVERAL pairs. 💰💵💸🤑. I couldn’t find pumps that fit, so I resurrected a pair of old pumps I had for the suit 🤣. My husband was confused because I went to buy dress shoes and walked out with two HUGE bags of boots. Lol. Good thing he loves me. Pic of me with a Christmas dress I’m planning to wear, and red knee high boots!
  14. I CANNOT believe that I stand here in a size 10 jeans, I’m not sure I EVER even THOUGHT I would wear that size jeans! Talk about a NSV!! ( down from a 24/26 Jean)
  15. i'm 4.5 yrs post op now, so NSV's come few and far between, but every now and then a new one will pop up: yesterday i was sitting on a chair scrolling through my phone when i dropped it in my lap. i shut my thighs to catch it, it landed on one if my thighs, then it slipped right through between them and fell to the floor. my knees felt a little knocked, and i was thinking damn, i hope my apple-care warranty is still valid, then i realized whoa, my thighs are smaller than i think. p.s. my phone is ok! 😂
  16. 🤩Made it to the Towel NSV!!!! No longer Insulin-Resistant!!!! Didn’t have to look for jeans in the Plus-Size section!!!! Bought a sweater sized M that I have to exchange because it’s too big!!!!
  17. I bought a couple of sweaters from Ann Taylor Loft on sale because I have nothing for the colder weather. The size small was not the NSV - but the freedom to not feel like I “shouldn’t” wear a sweater with horizontal stripes was a big one! I didn’t realize how much my mom had instilled that in my head until I was looking at the website and purposefully skipping the ones with horizontal stripes because it would make me look bigger. Well, I got it in the mail yesterday and I think I can now say wearing horizontal stripes will be part of my life! PS - I think anyone at any size should wear what they want and what they feel good in - but my mom hammered into me all of these things about being heavy from like middle school on (suck in your stomach, be in the back behind people so your full body isn’t on display, no horizontal stripes, etc.) so this is just 30 years of baggage I’m trying to unload. Wearing horizontal stripes is major for me.

Freja, don't be discouraged we all loose differently and don't cheat yourself of a great resource, this site. This site has be a wealth of knowledge for me. I've learned a lot to add to what I already knew. Are you taking any medications still? I found that my meds are hindering my weight loss. So I know how it feels and what can do to your feelings & mind to see others going through the same thing at the same time and lose double, triple & quadruple the amount of weight! I had to tell myself that this was not a raise. I did this for my health more so than pounds lost. It will not hurt me if it takes me 12 months to get to goal just as long as I get to goal eventually. Keep in mind your genetic profile plans a big part in how your body responds. I will say don't get caught up in the pounds.Measure yourself weekly as I do you will see great change. And be rewarded with a week or two worth of NSVs from the tape measure, yourself & whomever you may have to help measure you...my husband gives the best NSVs! He cheered me up & cheers me on when I was feeling like you breifly. I have been stalled for 4 weeks, scales say not much has changed but the measuring tape says much has! So embrace this moment learn & grow from it. Plus, I'm sure it has been said but keep in mind the bigger a person is the more they will lose fast. And a plus for you to think about and this excites me...slower you lose the better it is for your skin to recover! Less need for plastics....all for that! Stay positive, keep reading because you are not alone sister. And guess what I am a December sleever, we are all in this together! Stay up beat...lol I ain't hard to find I'm always posting something....do some reflecting so you can see the bigger picture. Best of luck. Many blessings. This is a new year, time for new thinking and a new you! Shape up girl & get with the program! XOXO ~CJ

I am 6'4" and currently am about 290. Had no problem on roller coasters last week at Busch Gardens (Virginia), although I did not go on them all. Florida has a law that mandates a row for "larger" people. When in Florida -just find out what row it is and hop on. When I am around 260-270 I know I have no problem at all on any coasters (never had a problem). Think of it as a NSV goal !!

Great work on the mileage! Truly inspirational. Keep taking measurements. Stay the course. The pounds will fall off eventually. You're doing so well. I'm pleased to see you are using various methods to measure your success. (We call those Non-Scale Victories--aka NSV's) I think you're about 3 months post-surgery, give or take. You're going through the exact same things I did at that point. Give it time. Keep up the outstanding work! It will happen.....keep us posted. Happy New Year!!

    NSV shout outs

So excited--I have my first NSV!!! Today is 22 days since my sleeve and at my Dr. visit this week he gave me the "OK" to start exercising moderately--he recommend I start with 10-15 minutes of brisk walking 4-5 days a week and gradually build up the duration. Well, today after lunch I decided to take a cruise around my office building and one of my coworkers (I have been very open about my WSL so he was aware) was crossing the hall and backed up and said "Dang! I can definately see some weight loss but I don't ever remember seeing you move so fast! You must really be feeling great, huh????" He then walked with me chatting for a few minutes and dropped off saying, "Sorry, I can't keep up with you at this pace." Woo Hooo!!!!! Goooooo ME!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay I finally have another NSV moment! So My sister and brother in law were in town for a few days, and I had not seen my brother in law in about 8 months. We sat around visiting for awhile, then I excused myself to use the restroom. My brother in law says to my sister "WOW she is skinny" So of course my sister tell me as soon as I got back from the restroom, I went straight across the room and gave my brother in law a kiss!!! I sure love that man!!! Made my whole day, week, month!! Have a great day!

I tried on a XL dress and swim in it. No they didn't have L.Still have the fat girl mentality and reach out for labels with X in front of it. I can safely say that if its a stretchy fabric now I can wear L in tops comfortably. Earlier this week I got up to greet and hug a friend walking into the restaurant I was sitting in. She thought I was some crazy woman trying to get too close to her. We laughed till we cried. She had not seen me in a year. I'm not a fast loser. But I'm steady and staying focused. And NSVs give me extra motivation to stay focused.
