    Upcoming December Gastric Sleeve

I’m having sleeve to bypass revision on 12/8. Can’t wait
  3. Your sleeve can't be reversed, the excess portion of your stomach was removed and discarded after your sleeve surgery, but there are other revision surgeries that can work with the stomach that remains. RNY, Mini-Bypass, and DS or SIPS are all possible with a sleeved stomach. Look in the Revision forum for people's stories.
  4. There are a number of threads, including mine, about having RNY for GERD in the Revision forum.
  5. not sure about making it smaller. As far as revision to bypass, yes - several people have had that done.

    Sleeve to Bypass & hungry?

I had revision surgery October 7th and it took awhile before my hunger went away. I am now on soft foods and definitely do not feel the restrictions I did when I had the sleeve but I have also not eaten anywhere close to the amount I was eating pre-surgery. I am being cautious in my intake. Normally with sleeve I would feel some resistance with liquids but now they go down easier than ever which worries me. So I pray with regular food I will some kind of restrictions ?
  7. I had Gastric sleeve for about 5 years. I was wondering if the pouch can be fixed to the point that it can go back to its original stomach size (as in being reversed) or being revised to a different procedure? Like Gastric Bypass, Mini Gastric Bypass, etc. Anyone know this info?

Calling all vets- where are you

I'm almost 13 years out and absolutely love my band! I've had my band since March 2008. I lost the majority of my weight in the first 6-9 months (from 200lbs down to 140lbs, i'm only 5'2") and managed to stay within a maintenance range for the past 12+ years, which included 2 pregnancies and a my fair share of fluctuations along the way. In the past year i have made some more habit changes that led me to drop another 20ish pounds leaving me at about 120-125lbs at 5'2". It's hard to see so many people suffering from complications with their bands, but i know that that has been the reality for many. I worry sometimes that even after 13 great years complication-free, that something could just go wrong! Honestly my biggest worry is that if something went wrong, i would no longer qualify for a revision surgery because i am at goal. I don't want to think about what it would be like without this tool! I used to post a lot in the beginning of my journey, but recently came back. So often it feels like i'm on this journey all alone, but being here makes me realize that's not the case. It makes me so happy to hear from some veterans (and to actually be one this time around). Please keep posting and i will try to do the same!

13 years later and - I Love my band

Another quiet and happy bandster here! I'm almost 13 years out and absolutely love my band! It's hard to see so many people suffering from complications and i worry sometimes that even after 13 great years complication-free, that something could just go wrong! Honestly my biggest worry is that if something went wrong, i would no longer qualify for a revision surgery because i am at goal. I've had my band since March 2008. In the past year i have made some more habit changes that led me to drop another 20ish pounds leaving me at about 120-125lbs at 5'2". It makes me so happy to see some positive bandsters out there sharing their stories as there are definitely still a lot of us on this band journey. Please keep posting and i will try to do the same!
  10. I was the same way after my revision. When I hit solid foods though, oh man there was a huge difference. I still have days 3 months out where even a 1/4 cup of things like pumpkin seeds (thoroughly chewed) or a couple bites of chicken make me hurt. Lots of people notice more restrictions when they get to solid foods and dense protein so try and just wait and see.

    Revision not enough weight loss.

Yes, I did go through the stages again. I was losing a good amount in the beginning. I dropped 60 lbs with the revision. Ive just put a little back on since 8 months ago. I put back on 10 of those. Ive been told it could be from me having 2 more surgeries since then, but am worried so trying to make sure i stay on track. I went through the stages however, i want to say not to get discouraged for there isnt huge changes like there was with the first one. It also took a bit more of a toll on me for i have gotten older since the last one. One great thing this time was no drain hoses. Dont know if you experienced those , but they are terrible.

    Anyone November 2020

I am scheduled for a revision surgery on 11/19/20, I am on my 14 day pre-diet. I dont have to do the liquid diet but just a low carb, high protein diet. I am mentally ready to get this over with in order to feel better. I have started prepping for my pureed diet once I get home from the hospital. I am freezing pureed food so that I can be ready to have meals on hand. Its been 7 yrs since my sleeve so I have to get my mind wrapped around how it was when i got home from the hospital. Good look to everyone on this journey

    Revision not enough weight loss.

Hi there, When you had your revision, did you go back through the post-op stages (liquids, purees, soft food, regular food, etc.) and did you go back to the basic diet you used for weight loss the first time?
  14. I am new here as well and I am considering revising to the bypass from having the sleeve last year in May. I have vertigo and very much confined to my bed accept for when I am working, which is quite difficult. However, I have been stalled for quite some time and have picked back up 30 of the pounds I lost. I started at 326 and the scales 279 now, I am seriously considering the bypass. Some days I can eat more than I should and other days I don't eat nothing.I do a lot of bored snacking sine I work from home. I wold love to follow your journey and perhaps be each others support.
  15. Im new here , but feel like i need to find a pal to chat with to maybe went through some things like me. Go first gastric bypass 2011 after having heart failure. Went from 550 lbs down to 254 lbs. I was so happy . Became a teacher ect. Then from 2013 to 2018, i ended up needing 3 surgeries. Weight started to come back. Then in 2018 got injured at work, needed two surgeries on my knee. One being total knee replacement. I got revision for i had put weight back on from being down from leg. However, i didnt lose that much from revision and fill like ive lost myself again. Im at 295 and really want to at least loose 40 to 50 more but have plateaued and kind given up . Had my revision done 8 months ago.

    Pain Post Revision

Wow! So sorry you’re having to deal with this pain. When you say revision, did you have the gastric bypass or did they just tighten your sleeve? Also, do you still have your gallbladder? If you had the RNY then you shouldn’t be throwing up. That’s something you need to tell your surgeon about. Also, the shooting pain from your stomach could definitely be your gallbladder or may just be gas. I had gas pain so bad after my surgery that I couldn’t taya deep breath for 2 weeks. My doctor put me on muscle relaxers to help and it did. Heres one last thing I can think of.....you may have some milk intolerance that is causing the gas and pain. I found out I have it bad and the only protein that doesn’t bother me is collagen protein. I hope this helps, but I would definitely call your doctor!
  17. So, I am nearly 15 years (yes years) postop. I started at 315 and plummeted to 142 within 10 months of surgery. I was super happy but I was also sick. I didn't have energy, I looked sick...but I was SKINNY! For the first time in my adult life, I wore a SMALL! I loved and hated it at the same time. Then I was told to gain weight because due to all the excess skin, I was really underweight and it was NOT healthy for me. Well, long story short...I can eat pretty much anything and not dump. Then my portions started growing and my snacking came back. I gained, I lost, I gained, I lost...you all know how that goes. I got back up to 230 and was miserable again. I started doing VERY well earlier this year and lost nearly 25 pounds of regain, then COVID-19 struck and has me working from home. This led right back to horrible habits and not as much movement (I didn't even have to walk to my car!). The company I work for has wonderful programs to help get motion and nutrition back on track. Well, that is if you are able bodied (I have bad knees and am just trying to keep replacements at bay as long as I can) and can eat like a normal person. The PT and nutritionist had me doing things that just didn't work for me...not once but TWICE. I told them over and over I couldn't exercise on my knees nor could I eat the portions they were assigning to me. Frustrated, I started researching revisions. I found one I was seriously contemplating, regardless of insurance coverage (I was THAT desperate). I was on the verge of calling my GP for a referral when I thought, "What about going back to basics"? So, about two weeks ago, I found some sites (this is one of them!) with bariatric specific meal plans, food, vitamins, gadgets, etc. I took the plunge and ordered protein powders, protein snacks, meal replacements and changed my vitamin routine to the 1 A Day on here. I bought shaker bottles for my shakes, 15 minute increment water bottles to make me drink my water (if you knew me, you would know I HATE water), and I also cleared two shelves in my pantry for JUST ME. It's now been just over a week and I am down 4 pounds. I have so much more energy that my husband was like "who are you and where is my wife"! I have already noticed a difference in some of my clothes - no more dancing routine putting on my yoga pants! It's not easy, but I have to remember where I was and where I want to be once again! Sorry this was so long but I started typing and couldn't stop!
  18. I had the sleeve done in January 2014. It was successful when you consider why I had it. Which was to be able to get pregnant along with some other health concerns. I didn't lose as much weight as one would think but again it wasn't my intention anyway. I just wanted to get to a healthier weight. My highest was 311 and the lowest I got to post sleeve was 206. I loved the way I felt and looked at that weight. After having a baby and falling into some bad old habits but more importantly suffering from severe acid.reflux and being dependent on antacids I decided to look into revision surgery. On Sept 17th I weighed 286 as of today I weigh 254. Things are for the most part going well and I no longer rely on antacids. That being said I am suffering on a daily basis from pain shooting from abdomen to back. It is below breast bones in center. I am most certain it is gas so I've been taking a lot of gas-x. I suffer from chronic pain from a previous injury so I take pain medication daily. I eat when I am hungry but throw up almost every time which happen the first time while I was training my mind and body until I learned the hard way what not to have. So I've just switched to protein drinks and water. But the pain is almost unbearable and I'm wondering if anyone else had this happen to them?

    Revision completed

Hi I had my revision Monday 11/2. 11/3 was horrible. Not as easy as the sleeve was and I’m starving lol I cried, my nurses (2) sucked and I was in a lot of pain! More then before way more but today is day 5 post op and I’m better. My incisions started to get infected bcuz I had a rash from the dermabond so I had to Peep it off and now I’m on a horse pill antibiotic. I’m already dropping weight. I only felt a little acid last night when I had Greek yogurt. My doc gave me a diet plan to follow from day 3-16.

I feel like I’m not doing all I can

No fraud there. You changed your eating habits for the better and lost weight as a result. That's great progress. I started the year at 300 lbs. and had my Revision to DS in May. I talk about the change in nutrition and revision surgery with whoever asks. Getting comments like "You look like a different person" all the time. Remember the surgery didn't take any weight off. Your new nutrition plan did. If you follow the plan long term, you'll reach your goal. I got the sleeve 7 years ago. I didn't plan out my nutrition very well. I relied on protein bars and protein shakes heavily as a long term diet. I've learned since then it is better to base your nutrition on natural sources, not processed foods. Once I finished the puree diet, I stopped consuming protein shakes and protein bars.
  21. I gained 23 lbs. in the hospital in 5 days getting my revision to DS surgery. I was on an IV the whole time. I had nothing to eat and almost nothing to drink while in the hospital. It took 5 more days to get back to my pre-surgery weight.

Severe LPR 3 years after sleeve

I was sleeved in 2016, on 10/22 had a revision to DS with hiatial hernia repair. 9 hours of surgery, wasnt sure it was the right thing but immediately no more GERD, 20 pounds down in 2 weeks, I can sleep. Wont front the revision surgery kicked my ass, but two weeks later i'm thinking it was the right thing to do

Severe LPR 3 years after sleeve

If it were me, I'd look into a hiatal repair and a revision to bypass surgery. But I'm not a doctor! Good luck and feel better.
