Oops! Apple juice sure wasn't my friend! It helped me have some (TMI) runs! -
I've had a ton of surgeries in my life but this one is taking the cake on getting me nervous! I'd rather go back through spine surgery then this one. Don't get me wrong..I WANT to do this...I NEED to do this but can you please share your surgery experience with me? How did you feel after and what should I expect when it comes to pain? Any other info you can give would be great too! I'm freaking here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm also nervous about them cutting part of my stomach out. It's just a weird thought!

tia952000 replied to WeightStruggle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey girl, I am still in the hospital, I am having the same pains as everyone else with the gas, my esophagus is almost closed as well, It is so painful to eat, so I stay away from my food tray. I am getting hungry tho for the things I can't have. Watching these commercial on TV don't help none..lol I feel sorry for your husband..I know what he is going through. lol I just starting passing gas last night & finally had a BM..(I know TMI).. -
Hi again. Before I wrote from my phone and I said to use aloe. A few years ago before the band and having a huge stomach, I needed to have a mole removed and they used tape to tape the fat (I know TMI) and being sensitive to tape I had red looking burn marks. My cousin is a nurse and she said use aloe. The next morning, GONE! Good luck.

Hello everyone, my name is Alicia and I had my VGS surgery on March 7 2013 so I just completed my 2nd week. So far I have lost twenty pounds. I am very excited and feel truly blessed with this surgery. I decided to post because I don't know any one that has had the sleeve besides me and I would like to hear from others about their experiences (I would also like to share mines also) My sister and one of my best friends had the gastric bypass but I'm finding that their experiences are different than mine. I'm still on my high liquid protein/puree stage of the diet and will be on that until April 11th. I'm looking forward to getting to know every one better. I do have a few questions and I would really appreciate it if any one can share their experiences. Do any of you still have food cravings? I know it's head hunger lol. I don't have any hunger pains or anything during my cravings. I'm just making sure I'm not going crazy still craving foods. Also has any one had any issues with being lactose intolerant? My RD told me not to worry about that because most sleeve patients don't become lactose intolerant. I'm starting to think that's not the case with me. I become very gassy and bloated when I drink any protein shake milk. . . even nonfat pudding. I also have been getting headaches for the past two days. I do a lot of walking and I'm wondering if I'm not getting enough fuel in my body. Also some times I feel full and then other times I can drink a protein shake or have a pudding and an hour later my body or maybe it's my head, is telling me that I need more fuel in my body. One last thing and I hope it's not to much TMI, in the beginning is it normal not to have a bowel movement for a few days. I think I'm freaking out more about this than anything. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and again I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better.

Did anyone have a problem with pop/soda?
Maddysgram replied to leannel90's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was told no carbonation ever and I quit cold turkey days before surgery. I only drank Diet Mt Dew. I was just thinking yesterday, how I wish I could reach ppl, how much better my life is without soda. My skin and my bladder are the biggest improvements. I used to have to pee (tmi) after just about half a can of soda. At night I would get up 4-5 times a night. But now even though I drink Water constantly, I can go 3-4 hours without having to go. My skin is so smooth and soft , none greasy. Like CG, when I hear someone pop a can of soda, for a minute I really would like one, but then I think I really like whats happening with my body and starting again is not worth it. Like someone else stated here, if you try one sip you will not like it and I truly believe that b/c even now Propel which I liked is even to sweet tasting now. I also found that sweets, artifical or not make me crave more sweets, so I limited my lo cal sweets, even my artifical sweets (Splenda) Just my observation and opinion. -
Not that I should probably admit this here... But a friend of mine (cute friend, but as I am married, just a friend) was asking me about this the other day and I mentioned this thread. She laughed and asked "how could it get bigger". I explained it really doesn't get any bigger but an 80 story building looks bigger and is more "visible" when surrounded by single story homes. But surround it with 60 story buildings and it doesn't look like much. She couldn't quite grasp what I was explaining (figuratively not literally) and asked to see it. I obliged and explained (pardon the TMI here) that before I could grab it at it's "visible" base with one hand and all you could see is hand. With the weight loss and it being very noticeable in that area I can do the same thing with both hands and still have some left over. I've never been particularly modest and in my pre-obese college days was nekked as much as I could be and get away with. Needless to say she seemed well, impressed by the end result and couldn't stop talking about it. As I said earlier I had forgotten what I originally had. But it has become a bit of a problem because not only is it much more noticeable it also is reacting a lot more like it did when I was younger. Instead of needing some effort to wake the giant up, he's bolting out of bed like a like a 16 year old ADD patient with a double Red Bull. Of course that's a bit of a problem at times as well. Sometimes he's got a mind of his own at the wrong times. But yes, market it this way and every man with a qualifying BMI would be signing up. Before and After pics (you can blind-fold the dudes for privacy) on a big billboard? As

Menses/Time of the Month
Alexandra39 replied to Alexandra39's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Update: I know this may be TMI (too much info) lol but since it's what the topic is about...I finally got my period today. Whew! I'm relieved. For a moment I thought it was early menopause. I don't even know why I was so worried, it's not like I plan having any more children. Maybe it's all the menopause associated symptoms that I often hear women complaining about is what scares me. After all, I'm still recovering and adjusting after this surgery. Well, although I'm relieved about getting my period after 3 months of not having it, I'm not enjoying the bloating and cramps! I think the doctor and several people here were right about the stall. It's been over 2 Weeks since I began soft foods and now I have stopped losing weight. It's only been fluctuating between 158 & 159 lbs. I've at least 34 more pounds to lose to reach my goal weight. But yes, I notice that since I stopped losing weight so quickly, now I have my period again. Makes sense. My body is no longer "in shock". -
Runnin' Down a Dream... Headed to Mexicali

Also, I know it's TMI and I promise there will be no accompanying pic, but I pooped today! It was great!!! :-D Amanda Rae -
Have you ever taken a bit of something and as you are chewing it you think “this is way too big of a bit” so you stuff half the bit in your cheek and swallow the other half? And a few seconds later you swallow the half in your cheek… How did that work out for you? It has never worked out successfully for me. Usually within minutes I am at the sink or toilet watching the bits go down the drain… sorry if this is TMI. I hate it when this happens and often it happens when I an overly hungry or the meal is really tasty. That makes it even worse because it ends the meal completely for me. So, I have to remember to take small bits, even when it is really really good and chew them completely, otherwise my yellow rose will reject them and I will not enjoy my meal. Lesson learned; I am not a squirrel!

Oh and might I add that I have been having a small TMI moment in these quests to better my running. Sometimes during the run I feel the need to take a dump (sorry for the guttural description). I wish this did not happen and hope some others have a solution. I do try and take care of daily BM hours before running. However, nature calls again during the run. Maybe it is the pre workout drink? Don't know.

It's my time of the month and I want to eat everything under the sun! How do you all deal with this?

I need some advice...
kileybug34 replied to kileybug34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I try to get more calories..but that is kinda impossible now. I can't seem to hold anymore than that. I did seem to get a little more in yesterday. I am going to try to get close to 1000 today. I feel full after a 1/2 cup of food right now. In the morning is definitely hard to get anything in. I try to drink my shake in the morning. This morning I got in some greek yogurt. To be honest with you I think some of my problem is that I have been constipated for about a week now...I know TMI..but finally got some relief so to speak. I have a hard time getting in 64 oz of h20 too. Anyone else have a hard time with constipation and getting your water in? -
Lol .. TMI hahaha

My name is Mindy, I am from Arizona and have been considering weight loss surgery for over a year. Last year I attended a seminar and picked up a wealth of information, sadly my insurance has a wls exclusion. I began looking into Mexico and researching doctors and am confident with my decision choosing Dr Garcia. I am scheduled for surgery April 13th! Its coming up so fast, Next week I will start my preop diet and am beginning to get nervous. I am traveling by myself much to the dismay of my friends and coworkers. I have been experimenting with Protein powders trying to find one I like, and have weened myself off diet soda completely. This week I have been having a Protein Shake for Breakfast, usually a salad for lunch and a light dinner to ease my transition into preop diet and not going into carb withdraw!. I have a bunch of silly concerns and wondered if anyone had any input. I am going by myself and have saved up enough money for first class so I'll be more comfortable, San Diego is only a short flight, but I like my space. At the airport after surgery anyone have issues taking off shoes, bending down to get them, or lifting luggage? I want to be proactive at preventing infection what soap/ointments did you take with you for wound care, what do you use at home, and how often? A little TMI question here, but did anyone have issues using the restroom by themselves postop in mexico? I am def a hefty girl and would die if I cannot take care of myself. I have considered getting one of those wands that hold tp to assist, but I think I would die of embarassment. I work retail long days on concrete floors, plus the weight, plus family history has left me with bad varicose veins, has anyone had a dr concerned with increased risk for clots from having varicose veins? Any tips on how to stay hydrated in my type of work environment. A day like today I spent 8 hours on the floor, no break or lunch, and drank half a bottle of Water. I usually 'catch up' when I am at home so I don't get too dehydrated. I am planning on taking 4-6 weeks off of work. Will drinking larger quantities in a small amount of time get better after that time period? Thanks for any responses, I love these forums, they have both inspired and educated me!

FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
firelle replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is TMI. I'm sorry. I'm worried and wondering if anyone can offer an idea. I'm so sick right now and not sure what's going on. On Friday night, my 3 year old daughter threw up three times in her bed, then on Sat and Sun she had loose stools. She also has a cough and runny nose. Last night, right before bed, I had diarrhea, and since midnight last night (12 hrs ago) have had it every 30min-1hr. I didn't get any sleep last night because of this. I've gone at least 16 times but lost count. Each time it seems like a lot. I also threw up 3 times. The first time was what looked like spit or foam, and the other two times were dry heaves for several minutes. I'm so weak and exhausted and thirsty, and my butt freaking hurts. I couldn't keep Water down during the night at all, but just now I finished a glass, which prompted a run to the bathroom again. The thought of food makes me feel sick to my stomach. Do you think I just caught my daughter's bug, but much worse? Or could this be sleeve related? Edit: This is the first time anything like this has happened since my surgery. My first time throwing up since then too. -
Finally Pregnant & 6 mo post

Lol. I'm looking at having this surgery so I'll look hot in my maternity pics. I think pregnant women look so breath takingly beautiful. I don't want the are you pregnant or fat questions that I get now. ( I went through a super girly phase & didnt wear pants for 2 years & as a result I have a very round belly & have a hard time with pants. Can't tolerate belts, I have the family flat backside so my pants just slide right down. ) Anyways, I only have 1 ovary due to some teratomas ( cysts with hair, bone, fat, teeth, brain tissue) sorry if TMI but they sandwiched my poor ovary & cut off its blood supply I had them removed & the dr said they were the size of an iphone!!!! I have pcos also so my fertility chances are slim wo this surgery. I'm still debating my options but leaning towards the sleeve. Just wortied I'll possibly stretch it out. As I'm a big volume eater! Never much for sweets still have halloween candy from 2 years ago! -

OMGosh...that's soooooooooooo awesome aylalinngren! Silly question, but do they want you to poop before you leave the hospital? Peeing won't be a problem for me since I could go every 5 mins (TMI?? Sorry!) I'm thinking your incisions are itching because they're healing? So very happy for you! Please keep us informed on how you're progress is going post op! -

Take a stool softner, not a laxative, because a laxative will cramp you up something wicked. Drink LOTS of Water. (TMI coming in 3... 2...1...) If you can feel the feces near the exit but just can't go because you're too constipated, you may want to try a suppository or enema. Neither are pleasant options but they're not painful either. They both work pretty quickly, too. Hang in there. -
Tomorrow will make 1 week with the band. All I want right now is to have a BM!!!! I'm sorry if this is TMI for some, but I'm miserable!!! I move on to mushy foods tmrw and can't wait!!! How long after your band did you have a BM?
