  1. My physical NSVs are amazing -- things like walking anywhere I want to go in the city and not being afraid of knee pain and exhaustion and being unable to get back to where I started. Like today -- I mowed the front lawn, the side lawn, the garage lawn, picked up tons of downed timber on our property (storms around here), trimmed rose bushes, weeded flower beds -- and wasn't the least bit tired! Before WLS, I hadn't worked that hard that easily in years! Like this weekend -- we went to hubby's high school reunion (400 miles away), and I kept up all weekend, stood at the cocktail party for an hour without sitting down (!!!), and did half the driving to the event and back. That sounds like nothing now, right? Well, as we all know when we were obese we could no more do that simple trip than a man in the moon, right? We'd have stayed home, right? And maybe hubby would have stayed home, too, right? (Just look at hubby's NSVs about my WLS, eh?) All the things we gradually removed from our lives we're now putting back into our lives. Hubby and I are both so happy about this surgery's physical, emotional, recreational and health benefits!

    Can't quite figure this out.

Loosing inches makes for great NSVs! Are you keeping track of your measurements?
  3. Ok so.......I am happily married and have been with my DH for almost 7 years. When we met I had a one year old son whose father wanted myself and our son when it was beneficial for him to have a family! AH won't cry about it, I only wanted a relationship with him for the stability it would give my son. Didn't work and God blessed me with the most wonderful husband and father to our children! Ok fast forward 7 years my son is turning eight yay and we have three additional children. My son's biological father whom he has not seen in almost 6 yrs does not call, write, email anything he has abandonded the role of a father and we are fine with that! Well I have to go to court next week and I am hoping to get him to sign over his parental rights! Mind you although he has been an absent father he has actively pursued certain "relations" with myself (yeah right buddy)! He never saw me at my highest weight as I moved out of state and the majority of my weight gain was rapid and within the last 2 to 3 yrs. Well I am down 40lbs almost to the weight I was when we last saw each other and I plan on losing another 5 to 10 by the time I have to go home for court next week. I am willing to resort back to the original post-op diet for a few days of Clear liquids just to blow his mind! ok so that is person number 1 who will need to close his mouth. #2: Growing up I was extremely skinny and the majority of my family.......NOT.....as I got older and began having children and gaining weight they went from calling me anorexic to fat....well guess what they can say hello to my little friend. None of them know that I have had the surgery but they all seem to have an accurate count of every pound I gained! Well I cannot wait to see every one that made the comment ooooh how did you get so big? or Oh you can't call that baby weight! I might carry around extra tissue for the drool. I made a post a couple of weeks ago about how I do not like taking photos well I ahve been snapping like crazy. I finally see a change when I look in the mirror. My surgery scars are no longer a mile apart, those boogers are right there close together! And possibly my favorite NSV was when a young lady I know said I hope I look like you do after 4 kids when I get older. I smile so much now........no one knows my secret but all see my progress. Guys that are pre-op it is worth it your quality of life changes drastically after the first 7 days post-op! And each day it gets better and better! Go for it. I am 2 1/2 months post op and down 41 pounds and I feel like a new woman. I made a decleration that I would not turn 30 fat and this time my words are not full of hot air!

    Nsv

I was told tonight at my favorite store that I can't shop there anymore...the woman behind the counter told me they don't carry my size at all.... What is strange is that a little over a year ago I was in the biggest size in the store and just barely fitting into it it was so tight.... Wow eh!!!!!!!!

To Own A Scale, Or Not...

Early in this journey, I only weighed myself when I went to see my physician. Now that I am at goal, I get on the scale eveymorning before showering. I want to make sure I stay at this weight. The only reason I did not weigh daily when losing was becasue I did not want to become a slave to my scale. I lost a lot of inches while building muscle and it would have been depressing not to see the numbers get lower. So I say yes own scales but don't allow the scales to rule your thoughts on WL, there are many NSV along this journey.
  10. We had some friends over the other day on a day that was close to 90 degrees. (Memorial Day) I knew it was warm but I was very comfortable and certainly not hot at all. I felt fine all day but I could see everyone else was hot and when I hugged my daughter's boyfriend when he left he was very sticky. I told my husband he is going to have to tell me this summer when the air needs to be turned on. Bummer for everyone else but nice for me especially after freezing all winter long.

    5 weeks post op

Hi Connie, I just passed my 5 week mark this week. It looks like you're doing terrific. I love reading about your NSV's! You've done better than me with the weight loss as I've let go of 19 pounds since surgery morning.
  12. Tiffykins

    5 weeks post op

Connie, you're doing great so far, keep it up. And, those are really wonderful NSVs especially about the potty stall. Many more victories are gonna come your way ! ! !
  13. Gigee

    Non-Scale Victory

Congrats! That's a great NSV! That's how I felt the first time I was able to slide (that's right I said slide as opposed to squeeze) in a booth at my favorite restaurant.

    HUGE NSV

Although the scale has remained the same for a weeks.... This is a message I sent to all 400+ of my FB 'friends' but thought it would an even better post here. . For those of you who have noticed, I have been more active lately. I never wanted to pick up running because I didn't want to be slow or last and that fear has always held me back. Well I just ran a 5k and my oldest biggest fear was just about to happen. I was almost last, but instead of walking, giving up or beating myself up I just kept going!! And you know what the pit in my stomach went away and I finished with me head held high!! Life is all about challenges. We are only judged on how we react to them. Thanks for my family and friends who have been so supportive of me while I get my health on track. I really do love you all!!! And as everyone knows I do always have to add some sarcasm . As I rounded the 1/2 way mark and thoughts of the old me were rearing their ugly heads I heard my dad with more of his nonsensical 'logic'.... You know what they call the person that graduates last in their class in medical school..... Doctor Thanks for the words of wisdom dad they came in handy when I needed it most!! NEVER EVER give up AND I was much faster than last year when I was sitting on my couch
  15. Only us plus-size folks can understand the excitement around my shopping trip today. I need a dress for an upcoming event and dreaded shopping for one. I tried on several 1X dresses that felt just a little too loose so I figured...what the heck. I ventured into the "normal size" section of Macys never imagining that one would actually fit me. So I was completely shocked that an XL fit and looked good on me. I can't wait until I'm out of the plus-size section for good!

    My 1St Milestone Surprise.

That's progress in the making! I love NSV's! I can't wait to hear more about wonderful things that are happening. Keep Rockin that Sleeve!
  17. I was getting frustrated because I been in a plateau for 3 weeks. But I am losing inches. I have an expensive suit (that I only worn twice) that I have not been about to wear for about 2 years. I tried it on hoping that it would fit. It was way to big. I couldn't believe it. I am doing better than I thought. Also, a few years ago, I brought some sexy underwear as an incentive and to wear to celebrate losing weight. They fit perfectly. I am still frustrated but feeling better in my sexy undies. Lol
  18. I just wish I was losing in my stomach instead of my butt. Guess I should stop feeling so frustrated about the scale because I am obviously getting smaller. I had to share with you guys because very few people in my life know about the surgery and my hubby said he wanted a picture to validate my claim.

    Hit onederland!

Congratulations! 90 pounds in 5 months is fantastic, and your NSVs are great as well.
  20. I haven't told many people about my surgery, maybe less than 5. I always get comments about my weight but does anyone ever get annoyed by some of the things people say? Someone literally asked if I was ok, like sick.. ill... Other people straight out ask me how much weight I've lost or say wow you look like a complete different person did your doctor put you on a diet? Wtf! I know my NSV's and the way I feel outweigh it all but those little comments really irk me! I'm an introvert there is no way I'm going to tell someone an exact number as to what I've lost. Sorry guys for the long rant! I do feel so good though!!
  21. I am super excited to be posting this and I made this thread to not only see everyone's nsv's but for people who aren't loosing to come to this thread to get encouragement! Lately my weight loss has slowed down I loose about 1-2 lbs a week here lately before I was loosing anywhere between 5-6 lbs a week.....anyways to make a long story short I've been in a size 16 for over a month now and I went and bought a size 13 before I was even in the 16's because I knew eventually I would get there well 2 days ago I was able to put on those 13's, granted they were tight and made my flabby stomach poke out at the top I was still able to get them on and button and zip them!!! I won't be wearing them out in public for awhile until I can more comfortably fit in them but I just had to share this experience with all of you!
  22. Ok so really I have had 2 in the last day... I have ANKLES!!!!!!! It's been years since I've had a left ankle. LOL!! And today I bought a blouse for my brothers graduation that is a 18/20...... 2 sizes smaller than what I have been wearing!!!! I am 9 days post op!! I cried at the store cuz it shocked me... This is really going to work! :-)
  23. I took a friend to the hospital today for tests. After they told me I could go get my car and pick her up outside the front entrance. So I was walking a long and there was a mom and a little girl behind me.... The little girl was chattering away about everything and nothing. Then she stops and says, 'mommy why is that lady's leg so little?' I knew she was talking about me because we were the only ones around. Her mother did not miss a beat! She said,' honey I think she was born with them like that.' I looked around and the mother smiled faintly at me hoping I did not hear. I smiled back. I thought, " you should have seen me two years ago, they would have been hidden from view." Is that a NSV or just an observation by a little girl with big blue eyes!
