    Protein

That's so strange about the Genepro. I tried mixing it in cold & hot stuff & it didn't dissolve. Maybe I need to try room temp? I'll give it another try. It has so much protein it would be great to use it.

    Protein

That's strange. ... I use Genepro and don't have ANY PROBLEMS mixing it into anything. I put in tea, Soups, iced tea (crystal light), pudding, mashed cauliflower- really anything I need to up my protein for the day. That's too bad it dissolves for me with no problems :-( Good luck!

    Protein powder recommendations?

I just ordered GENEPRO... I haven't really tried anything else, but I've heard it dissolves in almost anything and you can use it in hot or cold foods. I liked that it only takes one TBS for 30 g of Protein compared to some powders using 1/4-1/2C for the same amount of protein. I will test it out and give you the feedback as soon as it arrives! Sheena :-)
  4. I had a bypass surgery on 8th November, I think that lost weight is base on each individual on the first month I lost 39% of my goal weight but now am in a stall. For your Protein problem I highly recommend you GENEPRO the stuff is great you can mix it with anything cold or hot even your regular meals one scoop is 30g so it is easy for me to get my protein intake with the help of the supplement. They sale it at GNC look for reviews if you want to make sure before you expend the money because is a little pricy Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I believe I may be spiking my meals with too much Protein. I've been putting 1/2 scoop of GENEPRO Protein powder in my black Beans for good measure. Yesterday my kidneys were hurting a little bit. As I read about possible causes, one was "excess protein". It seems as if your are not active enough and have too much protein, it is difficult for your kidneys to process the oversupply. I guess I'll be cutting my spiking out. I'm the typical personality type that believes if one is good then 3 or 4 must be a whole lot better.

Last few days: Breakfast: 1 egg with half slice American cheese Lunch: 1 oz refried beans with sprinkle cheddar cheese, 1 oz avocado, 1 ounce sour cream Dinner: eggdrop soup with protein/collagen powder Breakfast: 4 oz cottage cheese with pureed pineapple Lunch: mashed cauliflower and parsnips (so much better than potatoes! So yummy!) Dinner: buffalo chicken dip Breakfast: 3 oz yogurt, 2 baby food (apple peach spinach pouch) Lunch: string cheese and applesauce Dinner: pureed lobster bisque (was so good I ate it too fast and got the sweats lol) Breakfast: 1/2 banana with 1 tbsp peanut butter Lunch: Yes! Brand soup (cauliflower and roasted potato) Dinner: refried bean plate as above. I've only been on purees/soft foods for four days so that's the basic run down. But I'm satisfied and happy! I don't snack in between right now because I was doing poorly on my fluids and it helps to have more time in between to drink more fluids. I hate protein shakes so viscerally much, I bought Genepro and have been just mixing that in my fresh iced tea. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

Wow that's nuts. I use a handful of spinach, around a cup of frozen fruit, about a cup of almond milk and my Genepro. It takes me an hour or two but I drink it while I work so I get side tracked. Maybe bc I'm rny things slide down super easy.? Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

    Genepro

I love my genepro...assuming the claims are correct, which may not be clear. Basically, they claim that the protein they process is more easily absorbed than standard whey protein. Therefore 1 scoop is "equivalent" to 30g of whey protein as far as you body is concerned. I opened up the package and saw the small scoop and was like "There is no way that is 30g!". I really like the product and it seems to be working for me and my wife. I'm going to see my NUT this week so I may ask about their opinion.

The problem is the FDA doesn't have the authority to test the claims of supplements. They only regulate if the products are adulterated or misbranded. https://www.fda.gov/Food/DietarySupplements/ If the FDA was in the business of regulating claims then we wouldn't see all of these "miracle weight loss cures" or "anti aging pills", right? Pure protein has 4 calories per gram. It's not possible for "different types of protein" to have less than that. http://www.dining.ucla.edu/housing_site/dining/SNAC_pdf/CaloriesCount.pdf Here are the details of the lawsuit, it was just finalized December of last year https://www.leagle.com/decision/infdco20171213e89 Some key points of the lawsuit: SI03, Inc the makers of Syntrax sued MuscleGen the makers of Genepro over the claims that "MuscleGen markets its GenePro product by falsely claiming it contains 30 grams of protein in a roughly 11.15 gram (1 tablespoon) serving when GenePro has 10 or fewer grams of protein per 11.15 gram (1 tablespoon) serving" "GenePro's marketing and packaging statement that it contains "medical grade" protein is incorrect, false, and misleading, as no industry or FDA standard for "medical grade" protein exists." Genepro did not even bother to respond to this lawsuit or show up in court, a default judgement was entered in favor the makers of Syntrax, against Genepro Since Genepro didn't even respond to this lawsuit, is it surprising they haven't taken down the claims the court deemed misleading & false? This is a civil lawsuit, the government plays no role in enforcing the judgement.

    Genepro

Considering Genepro just lost a lawsuit last December in which they were found to be "falsely claiming it contains 30 grams of protein in a roughly 11.15 gram (1 tablespoon) serving when GenePro has 10 or fewer grams of protein", this isn't exactly old news. If was going to go down hill wouldn't yu think 5 years would show somethimg? No, that's not how protein deficiencies work http://time.com/4374959/protein-health-benefits-nutrition/ "Like that termite-ridden house that looks fine on the outside, your protein-deprived body will have grown weaker over a period of many years. Exactly how will depend on the person and the type of adversity he or she faces. “It’s just not as simple as watching out for a few specific warning signs,” Paddon-Jones says. Franch agrees. “It’s not going to be possible to self-diagnose a protein deficiency,” he says."

I am on soft foods here was my day yesterday BF: 1 packet sugar free maple brown sugar oatmeal with 1 scoop of Genepro protein powder and splash of sugar free salted caramel syrup -159 cal total L: 2 oz refried beans, 1 oz cheddar cheese soup, 1 oz red enchilada sauce, 2 oz avocado - 158 calories total D: Ricotta bake with unflavored protein powder mixed in - 200 calories total Snack: Dannon light and fit key lime Greek yogurt- 80 calories Also had a bariatric hot chocolate for 90 calories Total for the day 686 calories, 86 grams protein, 48 net carbs, 15 grams sugar, 21 grams fat and 12 grams fiber. I have started exercising again and found I need to keep above 600 calories or I just drag butt all day. My weight loss has tapered off but I am not worried. There will be good weeks and bad weeks, but it will all average out.
  14. Like Bufflehead said, as soon as I saw the other products they put out and the "miracle" performance they claim, I ruled them out as a reputable source. Nowhere could I ever find if genepro has a complete amino acid profile. And the complete lack of third party, scientific, fact-based evidence, and no FDA approval are other obvious red flags that this is a scam.
  15. Thank you so much for this helpful and great advice! I will pray hard about the word compliance! That keeps jumping out to me! Going to get Genepro today! Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using BariatricPal mobile app

Why do protein drinks taste awful?

Watch out!! There are some on here that don't believe GENEPRO has 30 grams of protein and they get a little ANGRY when someone puts out good vibes on it. Personally, I LOVE GENEPRO. It is the only protein I use now. I put it in my Espresso every day. Just a little warning.
  17. At least they aren't being too fraudulent, as they state on the label that it doesn't count toward your RDA of protein, so at least they are a half step above Genepro on the honesty scale. Considering the other fadish stuff they sell on that site, I would walk away quickly. Supplement Facts Serving Size: 2 Scoops/5 Tbsp (24g) Serving Per Container: about 21 Amount Per Serving Calories 90 % Daily Value* Protein 22g 0%1 Sodium 75mg 3% Hydrolyzed Collagen 24g ** * Percent Daily Values (DV) are based on a 2,000 calorie diet. ** Daily Value not established. 1 Collagen Protein does not count toward the FDA recommended Percent Daily Value for protein because it lacks one essential amino acid: tryptophan.
  18. Genepro unflavored. It really and truly is flavorless. I add it to crystal lite. It can be added to everything!

    Drinking

I agree in principle, and will most likely bring it up, but I doubt it will do any good. It is fighting corporate inertia. I had an in depth conversation with my nutritionist about Genepro, which they recommend regularly, explaining that you can't put two pounds of poop in a one pound bag. She nodded her head and said , yeah yeah yeah, but I got the distinct impression she is still telling people how great it is. I don't know for sure, but I do know how corporate cultures stultify independent thinking or new ideas.
  20. I never want to cook anymore. When I first had surgery I was pretty interested in trying new recipes (mostly along the clean-eating line), but now that I literally take 4 bites of anything and feel full, I just have become uninterested in cooking. I find myself eating just anything with protein to get my tummy full and then move on. It's just me and my hubby at home now, so cooking for only 2 was something I was struggling with before, but now that I'm cooking for 1 and 1/4 it's a real challenge. I miss food and miss good meals. An example of my eating is yesterday I had coffee with Genepro protein powder for breakfast, a protein shake for lunch, and some cottage cheese with carrot sticks for dinner. I also ate a few nuts for a snack. I want a hot meal for goodness sake that isn't going to get thrown out because there's too much. Anybody else going through this or have ideas for me?

    Getting protein in post-op

Yes...., BUT....., For the time you aren't getting all your protein in your body is cannibalizing your muscles to get the protein it needs to heal. You NEED protein to HEAL. It's medicine. To heal your staple line and your laparoscopic holes. The sooner you get it in the less muscle mass you will lose. Yes fluids are important too for dehydration, but fluid protein shakes count too! Why not try for both? I almost recommended the protein hot chocolate too, but I pulled out my box and the top sources of protein on it include hydrolyzed gelatin which isn't a great source for a healing body it's not very bioavailabile. And I'd recommend anyone considering Genepro do a bit of reading and research.... it's quite controversial.
  22. http://www.betteroats.com/product/oat-fit-maple-brown-sugar/ Very tasty with unflavored Protein powder (I use Genepro).

food and why I love/hate it.

@@CatKaren I love Genepro! I made a fabulous shake of optimum nutrition chocolate, Genepro, PB2 chocolate in almond milk. It was like having a Reese's milkshake! My daughter and granddaughter liked it! I also like that there are little packets in the bag that you can put a tablespoon in and take along with you. Next up, trying it out in soup. Thanks again!

    Soups

Liquids do not wash food out of your stomach, they actually fill you up, therefore you are unable to eat as much at that particular setting. So, the less food you are able to eat, the less nutrients you absorb. That's not true for sleeve patients. It's one of the main reasons why we have to separate eating and drinking in the early stages. There are several; Isopure, GENEPRO, Syntrax nectar (I think) and Unury to name just a few. I personally like Isopure, but taste buds and palates vary.
