So.... going back to work definitely heightened my anxiety PLUS the fact that I've only lost 15lbs since April 25th. What I do now is take a walk thru the building when my anxiety kicks in at work. I put up a "restroom" sign & start walking. It has helped my anxiety tremendously, however this stubborn weight is taking its time to leave me. I purchased Genepro protein to ensure I get all my protein in. Try walking more with deep breaths in & out for your anxiety. I wish you the best of luck!!!

5 days post op—the things they did not tell me
sillykitty replied to Jessviera's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's not possible to get 30 g of protein for 60 calories. There are 4 calories in every gram of protein. So the minimum would be 120 calories for 30 g, or it couldn't have that much protein, one or the other. Considering Genepro was sued and lost for making false claims on several points, including inflating their protein content, I would not trust this company or any claims they make. https://casetext.com/case/si03-inc-v-musclegen-research-inc -
5 days post op—the things they did not tell me

I think I'm technically on pureed but for real, pureed to me is ground beef and ground chicken. I'm not pureeing anything. I weight and measure everything, eat in 4oz increments. Zero issues. Tonight I had 3 oz of ground chicken with hot sauce and 1oz of blue cheese. Earlier I had eggs with goat cheese and spinach. I also try and add protein to my coffee in the morning to kick up the protein as high as possible. I got that GENEPRO that I think I saw someone recommend. It's real trial and error. Some stuff it curdles in, disgusting. Found a YouTube video, if you put it in a shaker cup and add even 2oz of milk or creamer and shake it up, it becomes pretty smooth. Then pour the coffee on top & shake again. Adds 30G protein for 60 calories. -
I'm 2.5 months post op gastric bypass. I'd been going to the gym every single day, sometimes 2-3 times a day. (It's become my new way of dealing with stress and my new social thing to do besides going out to eat with friends) Tuesday I met with a trainer because I was cleared by my Dr. for core workouts but was told to really ease into it. I was completely transparent with the trainer who told me he'd known and worked with other people with my predicament and that I'd be fine. I told him I had a lot of atrophy and was pretty sure I was malnourished and dehydrated often but that I was working hard on it. He had me stand on some scale thing that you hold the handles on and it sends some electro type pulses through you to separate the fluid from bone muscle and fat and stuff so it can read how your weight is distributed throughout. There's something in it that also reads your inflammation level and he said I had the highest he'd ever seen and also called a co-worker over to check it out and said congrats, you're a winner. After getting on the floor with him after the first set he had me do of squats I knew something was wrong. My legs immediately felt like spaghetti and I could barely stabilize myself. I told him it didn't feel right and he just said you're fine you can have 10 seconds and then did it again...so I did because I hate liking like a wimp (stupid pride) and again and again and lunges and ab excersise...i haven't been ale to walk well since. My legs keep going out from under me and I've nearly fallen down a few times just walking and at work (I stand all day and cut hair). It's Saturday morning and I woke up still in that day after kind of pain. I mean, I've worked with a trainer before and I know the pain but it's NEVER come on that quick and it's NEVER lasted this long or intensely. I swear I'm not being dramatic or whiney. I'm a little worried and not sure what to do. Plus I'm upset because it's now keeping me from working out anything besides my upper body which I can't do every day so I go to the gym and just sit somedays so I don't get out of the habit of going. If I'm being honest I'm really pissed at the negligence but I can't do anything about that and want to let it go so how do I make my legs feel better so I can start working out again??? Sorry about the long rant to anyone who actually made it through. (My own solution thus far is to add genepro to everything and try harder to get more fluids in) my friend says he's going to give me something called map pills but I don't know if I cantake those. MINI GASTRIC BYPASS AND ACID REFLUX
Frustr8 replied to NYCGAL000's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
Tablet, my cheap PartD drug coverer, Silver Scripts, won't pay for liquid, so I dissolve, stir and drink the slurrey down, about as tasty as drinking white flour paste. Dr Noria, my surgeon's partner who does my endoscopies, Dr Needleman my actual Surgeon and one of the Nurse-Practioners, Valerie, all gave, me a script for the same thing, I now have 253 in bottles, Wal-Mart Pharmacy called to remind it was time for a refill of another 120, now where do they expect me to keep these? Now I know why some people sell their meds, these are cluttering up my pill dresser. Yeah I have one of those, top drawer is current meds , second drawer is Miralax, Benfiber and 1 package of Genepro. The Gold Standard 100% whey isolate was going there too, got it on sale at Wal-Mart for $3.00, joke is on me, the individual envelopes are Strawberry, not plain. Imagine what it would have been like if I stirred into soup or broth! And the bottom drawer is inactive meds, nope no opiods, I still have Norco up in the active, but I have to be backed up against the wall in pain, it constipates me so freely. Sometime I will relate the Trek to the Milk and Molasses Enema, really harder to live through than my actual surgery, nobody wants to be entered on records as" Little Old Lady full of S***", pretty darn demeaning in the ER . Hated them knowing I didn't have my act together FECAL-wise! -

No weight loss since surgery!

I use genepro. I purchase it on the bariatricpal website. -
GenePro powdered, unflavored protein is wonderful for anyone who struggles with getting their protein requirement. I put it in my morning coffee and that gives me 30 grams right off the bat. The 30 gram scoop is much smaller than other whey proteins that I've used and it is 100% undetectable! I've put it in soups, casseroles, sugar free pudding...you name it!

How is everyone incorporating fiber into their diet? I have IBS and used to have dumping syndrome BEFORE surgery. Now nothing wakes these bowels up except MOM and senna tea, and I have to get this under control. My team advised me to add fiber but I’m struggling to eat anything after I eat my 2-3 oz of protein. I thought about going back to my genepro protein powder to get half of my protein in for the day and then focusing on the fibrous veggies and beans for my meals instead of protein.

Can we talk about food aversion
Frustr8 replied to newmebithebypass's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Add me to this sorority, made Tomkitten Baked Fish, parsleyied potatos, and a tossed salad. I had a bowl of my homemade cream soup with Genepro stirred in. Yeah in theory I could have had a little bit of the Fish, it was Cod, but I don't want to. Seems like every time I try to add a little something, even well-chewed, Precious Pouch leads her own rebellion. So why argue and end up wearing it? -
Positive, no regrets journey so far! For those in need of this type of read!

And I , my little friend, am 8 months a week from Monday, a RNY bypass, and I have not dumped even once. Oh perhaps I have led a charmed life that it hasn't happened. But I used to have an appetite that knew no bounds. I would watch TV with a Family sized bag of Conn's. Honey +bar-b-que chips and eat them all. Conn's is one of our Central Ohio brands, cheaper, thinner chips, no saturated fats in their oil. Head office I believe is Zanesville Ohio. The fact that are so well made does not excuse the fact I ate too many at one sitting. At any rate I do not have a raging appetite any more,in fact I truly have no desire,to eat. Nothing really sounds good, oh I do have my soups, varying from bone broths clear up to my cheesy soup. Usually make it with potatoes, last time I put broccoli in it instead. Made my dietician groan but my pouch and I like that kind of stuff. I add Genepro protein to items I think don't have enough naturally. And depending on next blood draw, we will see if I have any deficencies vitamin -wise. I had an Iron infusion in March, need to see if that's holding or will I require another? PCP said I might have them every 90 days, but it all depends on how. blood levels are. -
Protein deficiency at 6 months?!?

Protein deficiency at 6 months?!?
Frustr8 replied to mousecat88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stir Genepro or another protein powder into everything you can? That 🐭🐱is a hard hard question to answer. I feel like I'm a protein with occasional sides of veggies myself. Don't you feel like screaming YOU CANT GET BLOOD FROM A TURNIP! , cause I sure do! -
Milky Protein NO MAS!!! I need help!
Colorado Cowgirl replied to Erica_B's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Buy unflavored protein powder and add a teaspoon to chicken broth, chicken soup, thinned out refried beans, etc. I eat Genepro and I can't taste it if I mix it really well. Each teaspoon is 10 g of protein. -
Hi! I'm eating about 300 to 500 calories per day. My protein goal is a minimum of 65 grams. I'm on soft foods like cottage cheese, string cheese and yogurt. I use GenePro protein powder in my coffee in the AM OR I'll have a protein shake. No fruits or veggies until Wed. Starting week 4 I can have soft veggies and fruits. Doc wants me to drink 64 oz. Of water per day but I'm only able to get in the 40s most days. I have my one month follow up tomorrow. I'm anxious to hear what the doctor says about the stall. I need to break this thing...lol

Week after surgery and I'm struggling
Bonines replied to Bonines's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks I'll check out genepro! I actually tried premier for the first time last week so it's okay for me now but now that you mention bloating. That could be the cause. I had one yesterday and was bloated and gassy all day and I think it's because of premier! I think I'm getting enough protein in now or close enough. I'm on pureed now and move up to soft solids in 4 days and I can't wait! These phases are a true test in patience and not trying to lose your mind with overthinking and anxiety. I keep trying to remind myself how far I've come. 3 weeks out from surgery and I lost 22lbs so I think I'm doing well now -

Week after surgery and I'm struggling
Jolexis replied to Bonines's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I remember this phase so well. I couldn’t stomach most protein drinks after surgery and still can’t drink premier protein without having instant bloating and cramps. I use a scoop of genepro unflavored powder in my crystal light/ diet tea/ coffee. Hang in there! I promise it gets better. It took me at least a month to start getting anywhere near my fluid and protein goals. Your body needs time to heal.
