February Surgery ?
lisafrommassachusetts replied to PSquared_vsg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yesterday I felt pretty good; I did not even need Tylenol and I got the 64 oz of fluid in. I walked over 6000 steps, which is almost 3 miles for me (shorter stride). At the risk of stating the obvious, dehydration is pretty bad. Once they told me to stop worrying about the protein and concentrate on the fluids I started to feel better. It was really Thursday (3rd day post op) that was bad. Also, yesterday they told me to start taking Miralax; and, again with the TMI but it is relevant, today I finally had a BM. I am pretty sure that has helped, too. Also, once I got fully hydrated my stomach stopped feeling "hungry". Not sure if it was coincidental, since they say it takes a few days before the hunger hormones dissipate. All in all I have had a pretty easy go of it, and I know that. Also I think the minimally invasive techniques have improved so much that even though losing 80% of your stomach is still a major shock to your system, your body is in a better place to heal. Hang in there! It certainly did not live up to my worst imaginings. How is pre-op eating going? -
February Surgery ?
Puffy-no-more replied to PSquared_vsg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone I have a question. Probably TMI so I apologize in advance. I’m on day 6 of my 10 day pre-op diet. It’s not liquids only like others. I can have a certain amount of fruit, yogurt and sandwich meat per day for each meal. I can also have unlimited amounts of foods like pickles, celery, cucumbers and so on. But y’all, I have had straight diarrhea for the past several days. Did anyone else experience this? I don’t feel sick to my stomach but I have diarrhea several times a day. Just wondering if this is a normal thing. -
February Surgery ?

Are you still in the hospital? They may have some tips. I had surgery Monday, too, and the only thing that seems to help is walking, walking, walking. Sometimes I belch after water, but it does not give any relief. At the risk of TMI, I have passed gas, which made the hospital happy, but I did not feel any better. I guess it means things are moving. I get this odd gurgly feeling when I drink the water, the RN said it was completely normal. She also said if I get up, even just stand up, it helps it pass. I have to keep reminding myself I JUST HAD MAJOR SURGERY! and I won't feel this way forever. Good luck, and keep walking! Walk walk walk, sip. -
How are my fellow December surgeries doing?
ChubRub replied to lys's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I've been in a stall for the past 2 weeks. Hoping to break through again soon!!! In TMI news, I'm almost 2 months out from surgery and I finally had a human-size poop! It felt great!! LOL!! -
Home for day two post and this morning I am sipping my first small serving of protein drink! It taste So good! Lol, pain for me has been nile to none at all; I still have the pain patch behind my ear so maybe that's why. They started me on the small 30ml cups in the hospital as well and those do help me keep up with my water demand. Over all experience, I'd do it all over again I feel fantastic other than a little it drowsy none and then so of course I nap! Dr sent me home with the liquid codein/advil medicine and it tastes like robitussin, not sure to liquids for meds but I took it before bed last night just in case and it must work but I was exhausted and I slept a solid 7 hrs! Haven't done that in a few weeks! If anyone has any questions just let me know; it is interesting to me all our recoveries and meal plans after surgery are so different. I had to wait 48 hrs before anything to drink other than water; Crystal lite or the premier protein water (which is great and has 20g of protein) so as I said at the top of my post this little 4oz of shake I'm sipping is so good! My biggest thing now tmi, is I've not had a BM which I know its because of nothing but water in me so this protein will help, not feeling constipated so I just need to let my body and nature take its course!

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
GreenTealael replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Whew! First I need to return to the fold 😂 but if I want to get in quick I will do a 24 dry fast or 36 hr wet fast, then continue with 20 /18 hr fasts. This is what works for me and (TMI time) I can tell by bathroom responses whether or not I'm there. -
February 2019 weight loss buds
Recidivist replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
This probably falls into the TMI category, but what the heck. I had my first "never trust a fart" incident today while walking home from work. There was nothing I could do but soldier on and deal with the situation when I got home. I'd heard of this phenomenon and didn't really know how it could happen--until it did. On another topic, I know that we are all coming up on our one-year anniversaries. It would be really nice if everyone could check in on their anniversary dates and let us know how they are doing, perhaps with a recent photo. Just a thought! I'm the last of the February group (because my surgery was actually on March 2), but I promise to do so when my date comes! -
OK so this may sound like a super dumb question and I apologize. How many minutes do you usually space between sips of plain water during an hour? I was told that it didn't matter as long as I tolerated water without pain, but I've been drinking so much water per hour I'm afraid I'm going to expand my pouch. My mouth has been so dry and my urine (sorry for TMI) hasn't been clear and the surgeon says it's because instead of 64 oz I should be aiming for 100 oz. Ugh. This is so frustrating. I'm so paranoid I'm going to wreck my pouch but at the same time dehydration is no fun.

HI all, I had revision from banding to bypass in October and I feel like there is something in my throat constantly on the left side ever since. Does anyone else have this issue. I also have gotten sick once and maybe TMI; but how else do you find these things out.... when I was sick my vomit only came out the right side of my throat. Wondering if anyone has had this experience or should I be concerned????

Tuesday jan 7, 29 months PO sleeve ‐----------------------------------------------------------------- Today was just not my day started out as a fast. Felt great throughout the fast no cravings I ate the following after 18 hour fast 6:00- coffee with milk 6:30 blended zucchini soup 7:00- keto cookie 8:00- 2 oz salmon 8:30- protien bar and soup broth Here's where it all went wrong TMI ALERT: I started feeling sick and projectile vomited for 10 min straight. I briefly felt better, than started getting terrible cramps which led to a massive bathroom explosion [emoji90] !!! Not sure what caused this as I am thankfully feeling loads better now. Was it the fasting? Or something I ate? I doubt it's a bug since i feel better so fast. I'm now scared to try another fast. Anyways this is my totals though I probably had less from all the vomiting -------------------------------------------------------------------- Totals- 731 cals / 46g protien / 36g net carbs / 40g fat Sent from my SM-G950U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Oh, Just Another Plastics Story
GreenTealael replied to GreenTealael's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Day 2 post plastics: TMI TIME 😅 Lots of swelling and pain but i 💩 today! Seeing how everyone was constipated I decided to get ahead of the game with laxatives and stool softeners yesterday. Worth it 🏆 I am very tightly repaired (diastasis recti) and my surgeon somehow magically fixed my thighs. Shook 😳👏 -
Pre-surgery, sex, IUD, & pill? Help!
SparklyInNOut posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sigh. Never thought I’d post something like this online, but I’m freaking out a bit & need advice! Also this could very much be TMI for many, so if it is, I apologize. I had major complications after my sleeve (4/2018). My new surgeon figured it all out, and I’m being revised to a bypass January 13th. I’m currently on my presurg liquid diet. I have a new boyfriend, and we slept together for the first time tonight. (Yay!) I have the Mirena IUD. It’s >99% effective for preventing pregnancy. This is why I have it. We used a condom the first go, but the 2nd & 3rd tonight... well, we didn’t. I know they’ll do a pregnancy test at the hospital before surgery, and they will cancel it if I test positive. So here’s my question - for that less than 1% chance, should I take Plan B just to be safe for surgery? I hate worrying over this. This is why I got to IUD... to not worry! But now I’m paranoid that this could mess up my revision. (Please don’t lecture me. I’m freaked out enough. Just need some honest advice. Thanks! 💜) -

A Tale of Two Arm Lifts (rs & ms.sss)
ms.sss replied to ms.sss's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
* TMI Alert * So this AM, it actually wasn't bad at all (at least the pooping part). Now the holding in suppository was another story... First I have to mention that Mr. was not down with doing suppository last night in the end, he wanted to wait the full 24 hours as per the packaging for Take Two. Now, yesterday I had the suppository in less than 2 mins before I started to feel the urge, which resulted in pooping out just the suppository. Boo. So this morning I kept that sucker in there for 15 minutes despite the fact that I could feel my body already wanted to go after 2 mins. Not sure if that was a good thing (cuz it took some real effort NOT to go), but at the end of those 15 mins, I was rewarded with a long-ish snake like poop that slid out with minimal effort. YAY!!! I was expecting a bunch of watery stuff to follow, but that was it. Which leads me to suspect that there is still stuff up in there (plus I still feel relatively bloated). So Miralax/Clearlax, Benefibre, Chia is going back into my daily diet until I start to feel normal again. Finally, I didn't do a before and after weigh in, LOL that was the last thing on my mind a the time. In fact I haven't done a "real" weigh in since surgery. I did do one fully clothed and constipated yesterday and it was 115, which was my weight the morning of surgery. Right now all I care about is fitting back into my jeans!! (oh and the ability to stand up straight would be awesome too) -
So it’s been hard for me not to eat too fast but I decided to start eating Greek yogurt, peanut butter and mashed potatoes.. I get a little discomfort but I thibk it has to do with eating fast not so much that I am not ready. What has been hard is getting my water and protein in... today was my best day so far, I had about 8oz of water and maybe 32grams of protein I’m still scared of masturbaton but I’m gonna try maybe in a few more days I’ll update.. babe wanted to today but told me we should wait still he’s worried I’ll tense up when I’m about to orgasm and pop a stitch or something lol tmi but that’s my update Any feedback or suggestions to any of this post is appreciated

An excerpt of my 10 day Plastics Post-op Update (link to this below): * TMI Alert * Poop Watch 2019 continues... Today marks Day 12. I am carrying TWELVE days of poop in me, people. Mr. (he's a keeper) assisted me with suppository insertion this morning. After no less than 2 minutes, I felt the sweet, sweet urge to push. So I skipped (skipped!) to the toilet and out came........a partially melted suppository. That's it. Are you effing kidding me. Now, the instructions on the box said not to use more than once in a 24 hour period. It also said that it should have worked within 15 mins to an hour. So I'm going to try it again at 6pm tonite, which is 12 hours after this morning's attempt as I figure I basically pooped the suppository out before it even melted and do its thing. In the meantime I ate 2 prunes. Good News is that it didn't make me sick, Bad News is that I am not a fan of the taste. I am also drinking water like a crazy person. Miraculously, despite my backed-upped-ness, I don't have any pain nor cramps. Just a feeling of absolute bloat. Ugh. -

* TMI ALERT: look away if you have a tendency to get barfy or cringe * I'm scared that all these measures I am taking are basically just making the "ready-to-come-out stuff" grow bigger and bigger but ultimately blocked by some immovable bit of plug out in front. Like what's gonna happen if there is a bunch of watery stuff in my intestines/bowels that insist on coming out but is physcally blocked by other matter?!?!? I visit the toilet often with hope in my heart, LOL. Though I am very windy*, (Ha, @Arabesque! I got to use the term!!) that's all that's coming out down there. I am not in pain nor am I so very uncomfortable, but I can feel my stomach bloating bigger and bigger with each passing day (though how much if this bloat is attributed to PS swelling, I don't know). Mr. is out getting some prunes and prune juice for me. He has also agreed to help me with a suppository tomorrow morning if I continue to shoot blanks in the washroom till then (he must really love me, LOL). -
Yesterday, Thursday, Dec. 12 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1yr PO Sleeve / 114.9 lbs ---------------------------------------- 3.5 hour lunch date with BFF yesterday. We went to a Chinese restaurant and then to a tea and dessert place. We shared a shaved ice dessert that was topped with sweet stuff and condensed milk (see the pic below...it's not the one we actually ate, because I forgot to take a pic, but its from the restaurants website). Anyhoo as you can see it is sugar overload. I had about maybe a 1.5 cups of it total and surprise, surprise, I got me some runs later on. Though it was actually kinda welcome cuz I hadn't pooped in about 3 days. So (TMI ALERT).... ...after I got to pass that "plug" (omg, I thought I was giving birth again) it was all watery nastiness after that. Sorry for the graphics. Then of course, I was hungry afterwards! On another note, I went for a run this AM with Mr. and he got me to do some sprinting intervals, and I think I'm going to be sore tomorrow. ---------------------------------------- 9:30am - Coffee-Tea-Cayenne w/ stevia 11:00am to 3:00pm - 3 oz crispy skin chicken dark meat + 1/2 cup braised eggplant & ground pork + 1 king oyster mushroom and 1 broccoli floret + 1 tbsp Sriracha + 1 tbsp hot chili oil + 1.5 cups mixed fruit tea + 1.5 cups shaved ice dessert (see below) 7:00pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + 1 slice bacon + 1/2 fl oz pumpkin seeds + 1/2 tbsp grated parm cheese + 3 oz meatloaf w/ Keto ketchup glaze + 2 oz grilled chicken + 1.5 oz chicharron 10:00pm - 1/2 cup cottage cheese + 1/2 oz pumpkin seeds + 2 oz blueberries + 2 tbsp dried cranberries ---------------------------------------- Totals: 1608 cals - 117g Protein - 79g NET carbs - 102g fat ---------------------------------------- Yesterdays Dessert (for reference), though ours didn't have the orange chunks nor the ice cream, but it did also have peanuts and crunchy oats. I ate less than 1/4 of it. It was HUGE. Plus we were chatting away so it melted and lost its appeal, lol.

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
Sheribear68 replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Mememememe! Okay, so I was supposed to fast all day yesterday, then woke up with a headache and it was our last morning in town and well..... we had breakfast and breakfast wine. So, I started the fast around 11am yesterday and I’m about to “break” it with a coffee/protein shake, then head to the Pilates studio, then have some cottage cheese and sunflower seeds for lunch. Dinner will be rotisserie chicken and a salad pack. I’ve pre-logged it and it’s gonna be about 500-600 calories (exact total will depend on how much chicken my sleeve will be able to hold later) All in all, I’m extremely excited to report that I jumped right on the scale this morning and since the Wednesday before thanksgiving I’ve gained 3.2 pounds. That’s basically 13 days worth of not logging food and drinking/eating whatever, whenever. Oh yeah, and no BM since Thursday (sorry if that’s TMI). Anyway, I’ll be weighing in every 1-2 days to see how long it takes to get back under 147. Right now I’m defending 145-150 and I’m 0.2 pounds over. 🤣🤣🤣 -
Ok, continuing with the TMI stuff. But the earth moved, the trains are back on schedule. And I'm down an impressive 1.2lbs PP. So I'm actually back to 130.8lbs on Monday morning. Which is pretty incredible. Most Mondays I'm at 132 or more.

sorry TMI-- I had diarrhea yesterday and I don't think it's related to what I ate. I am thinking it was a virus. That made me wonder what happens post surgery if we get a virus like the flu. Do we still vomit? There's not much in my pouch at any given time so I guess it would only be a little? Maybe that benefits us that we wouldn't get as dehydrated as fast? Has anyone been ill post surgery? How was it different?

December Surgery dates???
Slownstedy replied to Kimmerz23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had to shower, because I bent over and all hell broke lose. Lol After 4 days and 60 mg of MOM I was blessed with a healthy B M. LOL... TMI I know ,butt EXTREMELY IMPORTANT . I walk 15 min every 2 hrs during the day and take 15 ml liquid Vicodin every 6 hrs. This greatly helps me meet fluid 64 oz , Protein 60 g , exercise requirements. Also hit the challenge spirometer a few times an hr. Best wishes . -
Yesterday, Thursday, Dec. 5 Maintenance : 5'4" / 21Mo PO RNY / 131.0 lbs B1 Protein latte x 4 (4oz PP) B2 2 Egg white bites (HSF ham, turkey saus, spin, seasoning blend, cauliflower, mushies, salsa, egg white, ps mozz) L Asian salad with grilled chicken and WF Asian Dressing AS1 Other 1/2 of my salad AS2 Roast beef, lean no fat + turkey cutlet D Pan seared turkey cutlet in ghee and herbs + steamed broccoli + avo/tom salad BS 1 sq Lindt 90% chocolate + almonds Daily Totals: 1095 cals; 107g protein; 59g fat; 34g carbs; 11g fiber; 23g net carbs I don't know what's gong on with me. I'm having a very hungry week. And I'm craving protein. Again with the craving protein. So I listened to my body and ate--exceeding 100g of protein which is so unusual for me. I'm wondering if it's my holiday SF Torani syrup and PP I'm having in my coffee. Normally during the week, I will mostly have black coffee sprinkled with cinnamon. But I've been having 2-4 oz of PP with SF Torani Pumpkin Spice and also Peppermint Syrup. I am still down at my low end of the window. This morning 131lbs even and suspect when I'm PP, I will be down at 130-ish. LOL. TMI sorry.

Okay so today I weighed in again (wasn’t planning on it, but I had some good quality bathroom time (yeah, maybe TMI, but I had been seriously battling some constipation for weeks). I’m down to 146.4, which is unbelievable considering I was in the lower 150’s for about 3 weeks. I think it’s actually going to be possible for me to see 139, which is a complete mind F**K, TBH. That being said, I understand that some rebound is to be expected so right now I’ll say anywhere in my modified GW range of 150-155.

Good to know my team is not the only one who is ok with it. For me it’s a good trade off. Since surgery water hasn’t tasted the same so not only is it helping me get down fluid but also tmi - go to the bathroom... I’m still on the hunt for another alternative/hoping the water problem goes away.
