Hi everybody, A little background info: Had vsg in Fall 2012, lost 120 lbs, felt amazing! I got married, had a baby in Fall 2014, gained weight. Had another baby in Summer 2016, gained even more weight. I sought the advice of my bariatric surgeon, he recommended full bypass, and gave me a goal to lose 15 lbs, before he would schedule. Well, I've lost 40 lbs. I feel like I should be able to get back to my goal weight (165lbs) without having a bypass...but the task of losing another 80 pounds seems almost impossible. Has anyone on here, lost that much weight, without additional surgery? Thanks for reading.

Hey everybody, here is my situation....I started at 283 pounds, after struggling with my weight yo-yoing up and down all of 2013/14 I decided to go for weight loss surgery and got down to 262 pounds on November 11, 2014, by my next visit December 12, 2014 I was 252, getting through Thanksgiving and Christmas I still managed to lose 9 more pounds by January 29, 2015 which was my last required visit for insurance approval, In Feb I just maintained 243 and gained 1 pound on March 26, 2015 making me 244, by then I was approved and wasn't put on any strict dieting, or two week pre-op I hear every one talking about towards my date this Wednesday 22 Apr 2015, since my last visit I have gained weight due to a lot of back to back celebrations, my husband was promoted, and of course I was ecstatic about my approval.....I gained 4lbs then lost 2 of those lbs, then I look again and gained 5lbs, I don't know if its because I am a little anxious or I am checking too much, so today I just did liquids and I'm going to do so until my date and hope that I lose those 5lbs again, I would hate to have done so well to not be able to get it done because of 5lbs which I am hoping is due to my strength training I took on last week, I'm so mad, because I am so close, Has this happened to any one??

I got pregnant again a year and a half later and lost the 20 pounds I gained in 2 months. But after my second pregnancy I went into a deep depression and have gained weight weight again. I am 210 pounds. I still eat very little but I don't know what is going on. Can anyone help or give any advice please!

So I lost 13 pounds during the week of pre-op liquid diet and was feeling pretty good. Weighed in at 226 the morning of surgery. Came home the next day at 240! What the heck? I realize they had me on IV fluid the whole time, but 14 pounds worth? It's depressing to feel like I took a giant step backwards

Weight gain six weeks out...
Hopeful in Rochester posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've gained three pounds in the last week or so! I'm six weeks post op. my starting weight was 200 and now I'm 178. I eat about 500-800 calories a day, the majority of which is protein. I fall short on my fluids - I get around 45 ounces a day. I've also started exercising almost daily over the last couple of weeks. What else can I do? I'm so very frustrated to have had this huge life-altering surgery and to see the scale moving in the wrong direction... I'm trying not to focus solely on the numbers but seeing them move up is really scaring me. Open to all feedback!! -
I have been banded for 6 days and I have lost 12 pounds so far. I pretty much living on 1 protein shake, some broth, and popsicles. I was wondering if once I start eating solid food, will I gain some weight back. I intend on following a low cal. diet, and exercise. Has anyone experienced weight gain after they were back on solids?

Hi all, I'm approaching five weeks out and I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced yoyo numbers on the scale so early out. I've been the same weight given 2-4 lbs for about two weeks. I'm taking in about 48g of Protein on good days and generally eat between 700 to 1000 cals a day. I'm planning to call my NUT tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Thanks!

Help!!!! i had my band fitted July 09 and managed to lose 3st (42lbs) I have had 2 fills (5mls) and the last one of those was back in Oct 09, unfortunately I have regained 1st and am feeling really depressed about. I know what i need to do as far as the eating is concerned but struggle to find foods and the time to consider my menu. I have an office job which obviously means i am sat all day which doesnt help with the exercise side of things. I invested in a cross trainer recently and am trying to increase my exercise although the going is slow. I am getting another fill done on Mar 8th and am hoping this will quick start my weight lose again. basically what i want to know is has any one else experianced this problem and found that having another fill helped. I am so worried that it wont and just need a bit of encouragement....:rolleyes2:

I am at week 5 and starting soft solid foods. Since I've started the pureed foods last week I have stalled in my weight loss and when I weighed in on Monday (I weigh only on Mondays) I gained back 2 pounds. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this problem. I was sleeved 2/17/14 and am down 18 pounds, I'm a bit disappointed it is not more at this point. I started doing weight resistence training and 20 minutes of cardio this week hoping this will start bringing me down again. Any advice?

3 Weeks Post-Op ...weight Gain?!
sharoncarrie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks post-op & have lost a total of 11 lbs since DOS. When I weighed this morning I had gained 2 lbs. What can I do to get this weight headed in the loser's direction & not gain any? I must be doing something wrong. I thought the weight was easier to lose in the beginning? -
This whole week was a mess. Mom in the hospital for 2 days and Thanksgiving. I've been eating like mad. The .5cc fill didn't work and I can't seem to get myself back on track. Tomorrow I will get back to protein shakes because I gained 2lbs this week. Arggg!! My neighbor is giving me a treadmill so between that and the Leslie Sansone tapes should be able to lose it again. I'm hoping to have another before Christmas because I don't want to be able to eat as much food as I did at Thanksgiving. Hopefully, the rest of the weekend is better.

why do we put on weight so easily after the band surgery?? If I eat protiens I am fine...but if I have normal food...uff...i have put on 1 kg in a day...so frustrating... and in India we dont have many options for protiens...we dont get all the non veg varieites that you get in other countries... and one cant go on eating cheese and pulses....I am very much depressed.

Has anyone gained weight before starting their pre-op diet? Were you still approved?

So I'm pretty bummed right now. I got an unfil for plastic surgery may 1st, brachiplasty may 3rd. Since then I have gained 30 lbs!!!! Wtf! I realize I haven't been eating the healthiest but dang thats a lot of weight in 2 wks. I do have quite a bit of swelling still which accounts for some. I'm also not supposed to exercise for 3 wks minimum So I decided to check my eating habits & I'm going to adk my ps if I can @ least start walking or riding a recumbent bike a little. I was feeling super good prior to this... down 120 lbs in 13 months. I feel like a failure right now

Weight Gain every day that I don't exercise?
Begin Again posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm becoming very frustrated and wondering if I have some kind of metabolic issue. I'm 5 1/2 weeks Post op and I find that on days that I don't exercise I gain 1 pound. I am following all of my nutritionist's guidelines (and what I've learned on here). I am aiming for 60 grams of Protein per day and only eat carbs that come in my low fat, no sugar added greek yogurt (I eat Dannon light and fit which only has 80 calories per day). I eat three small meals and stick to around 300-500 calories per day. I am losing, I try to exercise daily for an hour, but in reality it generally ends up being 3 days a week. I know that I need to be better about that. However, I weigh 274 and at this weight and the limited calories it seems like I should be losing even if I don't exercise. Curious what you all think? -
Has anyone heard of gaining weight when you transition from mushies to solid food? The nutritionist said that there is a possibility of a small weight gain initially....what the heck?!?! Is there any way to avoid that???? Thanks, Katie
