  1. Another NSV moment...going into your primary doc and not dreading getting on the scale and then hearing her 'gentle' disappointment that I'm still not taking care of my diabetes (read: losing weight) as I should. My doc is this soft spoken, gentle Indian woman who just makes you feel as if she genuinely cares about you and your health and I love her to death. She's been about for maternity leave since just after my band surgery so she was quite pleased to see I'd lost 35 pounds since my last visit. Interestingly, her office assistant had a gastric sleeve done the same day I had my band. She's down 100 pounds. You know, I thought the sleeve would be similar to the band since they aren't rerouting your insides around so there's no malabsorption, but she's the 3rd person I've talked to who had the sleeve and who are dealing with major fatigue and immune type illnesses. Wonder if it's because their weight loss is not as gradual since they're not spending months getting to restriction. Dunno...but I'm more than ever glad I went for the band. I took my son to lunch at Ruby Tuesday's after my doc appointment yesterday and, in the past, we'd split an appetizer, then each do an entree with the all you can eat salad bar. This time I had their appetizer sized lump crab cake and the salad bar even though my salad consisted of this tiny little pile of spring greens with a couple garbanzo beans and blue cheese dressing. When my crab cake arrived, there was a tiny little pile of spring greens on the plate...the same size as my salad! Shoot, I'll bet they would've let me put a bit of blue cheese dressing on it and I could've saved myself the $2.99 for the salad bar! Making a mental note for next time. The piles of snow are almost gone here due to the mid-40's temps and last night's rain. My fingers are 'itching' to dig into my gardens but we're still almost 2 1/2 months away from when it's safe to plant anything. I am so seriously thinking of building a greenhouse. Well, I need to stop in at work this morning and pay some bills and then I have the rest of my 3 day weekend off. I think I'll surprise my little piglet dog and take her for a walk. Now...where'd I put that leash? .

    May 2007 Banders

Well, It wont be a NSV for me until they actually fit but it made me feel good anyway. A really thin girl at work had a baby about a year ago and said she had some clothes she wore after the baby that she had bought at GAP or somewhere, she asked what size I was in now and I told her 18's and some 16's. She brought me these clothes which are 12's and 14's!! I am not even able to squeeze into them I am sure but it made me feel so good that someone else thinks I will be able to soon. My scale still hasnt moved in a while and my trainer is kicking my rear at the gym so I know with the muscle weight will start coming off too. Way to go on all the NSV's!

    August Band Crew!!!!!

Texas Princess....NSV is "Non-Scale Victory".. .. for example, I'm really looking forward to being able to cross my legs at the knees again. That will be a big red letter day for me. It's fun to be able to look forward to or celebrate the non-scale victories with people who "get it". (that would be us, lol) Denise...Welcome to the August Bandsters. Only SEVEN days to go. Woohooo.

    washing machine

Silly is good with me. As big as my middle was, it must've taken a lot of energy for me to ignore the way it got inbetween me and the washing machine, my car's steering wheel, the kitchen counter, you name it. I also somehow managed to ignore the high tide mark of dropped and dribbled food grunge on my clothes. I think I'd rather have 10 silly little NSV's than 1 big one. Not saying I'd refuse 1 big one, but the little ones sure make me appreciate my new and improved quality of life. Whoever would've thought that weight loss would improve your relationship with your washing machine?!

Some smaller clothes look amazing on me again 5. Back not hurting as much when I wake up in the am 6. I can cross my legs cross cross applesauce style 7. My curves are noticeable again! More to come I'm sure :-)
  10. I have hit the stall also. Been trying to increase my Water and Protein. I have also been trying to increase my walking to see if I get quickly get back on the losing track. NSV: I am having a lot of people comment on my weight loss & now wearing a smaller clothes! I hit a stall!
  11. NSV for me today. My daughter had been at a camping trip over the weekend. When I went to pick her up, I was walking toward her from the car and she looked at me and said, "you're getting skinny mom!". I haven't heard those works ever : ) it was really nice. I was 221 pre-surgery. Day of surgery I was 200. I had surgery 2/25 and I am now 173.5. It feels really good.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

Had another NSV this morning. I have been weighing on the Wii Fit plus scale to keep track of my progress and my goals. Well this morning my BMI went below 35 and I did not max out the obese chart on the Wii. What a good feeling. I was sleeved 1/9. Highest weight 12/26 302, surgery weight 282, weight this morning 244. Feeling great. I think making sure you get your protein and water and making it to the gym at least 5 times a week is the secret. Even my wife is losing and she did not have the surgery. This was the best decision I ever made. Another sidebar-- my daughter is getting married 6/15/2013. I told my wife I would be at my weight that I was when we got married ( june 7 1980) of 210 lbs and asked her if she would be at her marrying weight. She game me the evil eye and said I was cheating!!!

    Almost Here...

Not to correct but NSV=non scale victory, such as smaller size clothes, inches lost, etc. Today is day 3 in HI, it's paradise for sure but I'm having he!! Eating right, I have to get over this fear of vomiting or ripping staples & leaks! We bout groceries the first day but my dr wants me to consume calories every 2 hours! I got some small lunch ables with cracker, meat & cheese. 13g Protein. Took all day long yest at 2 pieces at a time but I got it in. We have a small cooler & I just stuck in zip bag & put in the cooler for 2 more hours then repeat the process. No probs on fluids packed plenty Water & Powerade in cooler. Got my 1st weird look at bubba gump when I asked to order 1 shrimp & veggie grilled skewer. She refused so I pd $20 bucks for 2 shrimp & one bite grilled zucchini.
  14. These are great - My surgery is now 17 months past, and I've plateaued the past 5 months, sadly. I did maintain though, and now am beginning to lose again (yes!) so my fall NSV is having the pleasure of donating sweaters that are too big, even though I thought they would still fit. Guess I'm smaller than I thought - hooray My other NSV is the pleasure of being back on track - such a good feeling!
  15. Hey all thought I would give a quick up date... On my offical weigh day, I weighed the same, no loss , no gain... my measurements were to same too... so I guess my stall is still with me. What I have no come to accept, again, is that these stalls are par for the course with me (and many others) and it is something that I am just gonna have to get used to. I HAVE to get to my goal weight, I HAVE to do this... the whole reason for spending the money and having major surgery is to get fit and have a longer and healthier life. I suppose I have to accept that this is going to take a long time... but I will get there. I think that the stall might be hormonal... my cycle is a mess, both before and after surgery... I am going to monitor it and if I need to I will go see my doc. ANY HOW... I thought I would share a NSV with you all...on the weekend I bought a pair of calf length boots.... OMG... I could put them on and DO THE ZIP ALL THE WAY UP TO THE TOP... I haven't been able to do that for nearly 20 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *dances hysterically around the room8 This means, that I can now wear them with a skirt or dress... Check me out ...lol I really don't understand my body and how it works, but I love my new boots... =]
  16. Ok everyone, I haven't been on in a while. I have been on a stall the past week an half:( But finally went down again today;) getting all Water in, about 60% of Protein in but I'm trying. Working out doing lots if cardio but I'm thinking I'm gonna need a trainer because my arm are really flabby now! I'm a little amazed on how flabby with a 30 lb loss! Shocking... Sleeved 5/28 SW 290 CW 263 Also for a NSV: I normally would wear a 20/22 but went to mall an could fit in a 14/16!! I couldn't believe it;) All I can say is just because scale is not moving, were still losing in inches

    100 mile challenge

Sorry was flying yesterday... Total with yesterday and today, 81 miles! Woot!woot! Also an NSV... While I was waiting on my mom to land, I parked and went into the airport and walked around baggage claim, I had around 45 minutes, did over three miles, and as I was walking, I had to control myself because my body wanted to run....WANTED TO RUN !? what? I had to give myself a mental pat on the back... It was awesome!

Hey Y'All... I have a minute or two today - thank goodness! Becky - Great job getting to the gym! It does feel great when we go. I don't know why we fight it so hard sometimes... Eileenie - I am surprised none of those photos shows the big ol' granny panties on their heads! Glad you had fun! Anne - sounds like your DH travels a lot. It's cool that you can pack up the kids and hang with your Sis. Fill us in on all the latest when you get a chance. Hugs! Kat - Stress is the worst for trying to maintain proper eating. At least if you are depressed you can just sleep - but stress! Yikes! It's like your hand moves with no msg from the brain... right into the cheetos - or the refried Beans, or whatever. I am still thinking positive thoughts for you and your DH. Try not too worry too much about what you are eating right now. HUGS! Patty - at least your insurance was willing to talk to you! Mine wouldn't even acknowledge my existence until 30 days after the request... Try to take a deep breath and count to ten or something. It will come. Hugs! Mary - have fun with the garden - and yes, Hoeing counts as exercise! Hugs! I am thinking good thoughts for a healthy band. Maybe you just have stress tightness - and aggravation from PB's... Hugs for the boys, too. Darcy - my thighs still hurt - but it's back to the battle with the Evil Eliptical tonight... I will not consider it a victory until I can go for 45 minutes without the thing going into "pause" mode because I am going too slow! It doesn't matter which gym you join, so long as you go. Hugs! Cindy - So glad you have the headache thing under control! You school must use that "bag-o-lettuce" with all the chemicals on it, huh? ick. Congrats on the 5 lbs! The scale is not cooperating with me right now - but I am not paying it any mind. I know that thigh muscle must weigh more than thigh fat... So long as it doesn't become a trend, I am not going to worry. Sorry you miss your Baby. Someday, you MAY look forward to those quiet moments, you know... And - since you no longer have that Headache excuse, maybe you could make your DH's night! lol! Hugs! Donna - what, is it something in the air? Just say "NO" to PB's people! :] I have come close a couple of times - the food moves REALLY slowly... it's just a little reminder from my band to slow down and chew... The latest for me is that I had a little NSV last night. I went to Walmart for some "stuff" and found clothes that I had to have - and they FIT. I got this long beach cover-up skirt - and some really cool hippy-girl shirts to wear with it. Now, I have been able to wear a few specific items from Walmart - but not SHIRTS. I was so jazzed! And I have had several compliments today on my fab new shirt! I will try and remember to have DH take a photo tonight when I get home. That's all the news that's fit to print... Pat? Where are you, Pat? I am starting to worry now... We miss you. Please stop by and let us know how you are. Hugs!! Well I have to run. I have lingered longer than I should already. Hugs all round!
  19. SW 204 CW 181.4 NSV found size 12 shirts at old navy that fit! Trying to get 10,000 steps in a day! Doing good!

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

I've had a difficult month. I've run 2 times in the last 4 weeks. Had to work way too many hours and then ended up with bronchitis and then had to travel for work last week. Finally got a good run in this morning and was worried about going long. I'm training for a half and I need the long runs to get me ready. The furthest I've run has been a 10K (6.2 mi). This morning I ran 8 freaking miles!!! I'm going to pay for it tomorrow, but everything is feeling good right now. Had another NSV this last week and only you all can understand how happy this makes me...

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

Just got the nsv. Congratulations on all that excess seatbelt. Thank you so much for the advice. I'm glad to know I can do it. Wow 8 miles sounds mind blowing. You are an athlete.
  22. So, I found out what a NSV was.. and its cool.. But lately I was wondering.. How far can that go? I mean, where something is happening to your body most definately but your just not losing any weight on the scale. I have been stuck around 350 pounsa.. for Months. I dont measure anything. But its UNDENYABLE that my body is changing. (I am single, I date and I just know.. ok) When I lost the bulk of my weight, I noticed some things.. But since then, since I stopped loosing, its been changing even more. So, Can this mean that My Hanging Flab weighs alot in itself.. OR I gained some muscle (I dont see how, I am not active) OR I am retaining Water (I have never retained water in my life and have no symptoms of it) I DONT KNOW.. Does the fat Keep drooping and changing with gravity, even though I lost the bulk of the weight months ago? I am kinda hopeing I am NOT stalled at 350 pounds and I am still having productive changes and that counts for something.. My right arm is so much smaller and the fat is collecting (or flab??) at the armpit area. My stomach used to have ONE problem area. I mean an area that I had to wipe with a baby wipe to keep clean ( I would do this every time I went potty) .. this is a non private area.. just an area suseptiple to uncleaness cuz it was so flabbish.. Once in a while it got a rash (it could be cleaned and soaked and gone in 24 hours) NOW.. my stomach has FIVE of those areas..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All my steachmarks are turning wrinkly.. I exspected that to happen.. BUT NOT when I am not loosing any weight.. At this point I have only lost about 65 pounds and I have lost 50 and 40 pounds many many times.. and NONE of this ever happened!!!! Sorry if this gets gross.. I find it very gross too. Then my leg.. the inner thigh.. it has this big dent in it.. It looks very nasty when I lift it to shave my legs.. I mean it ALWAYS looked nasty.. But this dent thing is Crazy.. AND all the pores in that area.. the inner thigh area are like wrinked and hold (or seem to hold) MANY MANY more pores.. I mean its all bunched together and No matter what i do, I cant stand to feel it... Its like I need a MASSIVE exfoliation that I never felt I needed before... HOw can you exfolite skin that isnt taught (without help, at my size) Ok... SO I had my first discusting.. LIKE serious BEd sore/ rash?? episode. I took pictures it was so bad. It appeared one day OVERnight, NO kidding.. It only took 2 days to get rid of, but none the less I was freaked OUT!!!! I am going to bring the pics to my doctor to show him. I guess I want a record if my body is gonna start doing this. Sooooooooo I brought up two issues here... sorry.. I am getting very scared.. I havent lost much weight and my body is INSANE changing and flabbing out and NEW to me and causing pores and rashes and seems like if I lose 50 more pounds I would have so bathe 4 times a day to keep clean,. lol anyway. thanks for listning I love you guys

    March 2007 Bandsters

Well right now I am wearning a size 20 pair of jeans. They are snug on me, but as loose as the 22s were getting, I decided it was better to go with snug for the moment. They aren't as tight as they were even a few days ago! I can sit in the comfortabley and so forth, so really not bad. Just snug. I think a few more pounds will help them get to that not snug spot. So I figure this is a good NSV! I can fit in smaller jeans!
  24. Gamergirl that is a wonderful NSV, so where are the pics?
