  1. Well, thank you for keeping it 100, I guess. There are other issues in my marriage and have been for a while. I think I have put a bandaid on a lot of wounds and when I had this surgery , the wounds weren't completely healed this all the BS he is throwing my way now. I thought he turned a new leaf because he seemed happy for a little while and then same crap different day. And you are right when my son had to take me to Texas that shud have been a huge indicator that this was gonna be a problem but I tried to hang in there for so many reasons. Surgery isn't the problem but it is.... u see crap I would usually accept I don't now because I have become stronger mentally and that is a big problem. My hubby knows I want my family to stay together but I have been unhappy for a long time and suffered s lot of bull and now I don't want to. So , yes there are other issues and I know surgery is just the face of our problems. I am praying for strength to walk away so that I can live a peaceful life and an enjoyable one as well. I'm just waiting for my moment. God knows what I need as well as want so I'm praying for him to give me the strength to leave and mean it because I have left before and came back and I do not want that this time. But thanks for keeping it 100. I was scared to read it at first but I don't hide from the truth about any situation.
  2. @Dknal2 I'm just going to keep it 100, there are other issues in your marriage. Your husband is being fake with this weight thing. There is something deeper here and every time you post about it, I know that you know there is something deeply wrong with your marriage. You guys are just doing some dance about this surgery thing, but surgery isn't even the issue. The fact he wouldn't even take you to surgery and your son had to take you (correct me if I am wrong), should have been the sign you needed. Things are not getting better, they are the same or worse. Life is too short for this BS.

Today I am 2 weeks post op and I walked ONE mile. I thought about quitting at 1/2 mile but realized my legs didn't hurt. I wasn't sweating like a pig. I wasn't dying to breathe. I am now sitting in my car tearing up bc I walked ONE mile. This surgery is saving my life and I am so grateful.
  4. I have BC/BS Federal, also, and am working through my checklist of required steps before approval. Did you have to do a sleep study?

    How I maintain

I can see that you believe that. I also used to think that I had zero control around my trigger foods and those foods caused cravings for more of those foods. To an extent this has some truth: a diet based only in sugar/carbs does lead to craving more carbs because your sugar levels drop and your body responds by asking for more to reach a stable level again. A carb laden diet lacking in other foods leads to an imbalance in blood sugar. What fixes this is to follow your bodies natural cravings and eat balanced meals with carbs and proteins and fats and fiber. Those foods mix together to create blood sugar stability and satisfy your energy needs. When your energy needs are balanced you will find your urge to binge will go away. When all food is allowed and permissible it becomes much less important and when you are adequately fed (and by that I mean ADEQUATELY fed, not 1800 calories fed) your binge urge will go away. You may not believe me. I know it's a hard pill to swallow. But I am living proof. When you eat mindfully you will naturally eat more nutrient dense food and your body will guide you towards health. There doesn't have to be effort involved. Our bodies are very very wise.

    BC Sleevers

Hello, I am in BC and went through Bariatric Pal Team MX and had my surgery in Tijuana on Feb 20, 2017 - easy peasy...went well
  7. I have a thought....maybe the iced teas aren't helping you? Caffeine causes the body to lose water. Maybe your body is just holding on to whatever it can bc of the caffeine. I'm not sure what kind of caffeine is in a bottle of Snapple, but I think it does have some I was a Starbucks junkie. I gave up all caffeine 2 weeks before the surgery bc the support nurse said to get the headache out of the way bc caffeine is a no no for my docs protocol. When I eliminated all carbs (pre-op) and started my vitamins my energy didn't tank mid day. I am so surprised. I literally needed my coffee to get through a day. Just a thought. Sometimes it's those little changes that may make a big difference.
  8. I'm 9 weeks pregnant and about 10 months out of surgery. I'm having a lot of morning sickness and having a hard time keeping anything down the second part of the day. Any ideas on how to get my calories in still? I don't go to the gym now bc I already don't get enough nutrients
  9. I was actually UP about 8 pounds right after my surgery. I'm happy to say that a week later that plus some more is off of me. I was VERY swollen and retained so much. I could barely go to the bathroom bc of the anesthesia, so once I was up and about and getting fluids in normally, I lost the extra fluid.

    Single incision gastric sleeve

I read the single incision is better BC less scarring, pain, chance of infection, etc but costs $1000 more. I'm not sure about the drain.

    Post-Op rash??

Thanks. I was thinking the betedyne. It is lightly all over, but mainly concentrated to my flanks. When I got home I noticed the betedyne more concentrated on my sides, the PA said bc there is blood on your abdomen they wash you off a bit. That's why it looks like more in the sides. Its sooooo annoying. I have topical benedryl on it now and take a full dose of the pills before bed since they knock me out. Ive taken a shower every day since I got home (1 day after the surgery), I'm just surprised it's not subsiding by now. But if that's my biggest problem I guess it's not that bad. I'm back to work one week post op and hanging in there. It's actually easier to get my food & liquids in when I'm sitting at a desk.

    Pre op Liquid Diet Shakes

I bought a few different kinds bc they told me I'd probably get sick of them. Recently bought Isopure Zero Carb Clear at GNC. It's juice-like. I don't love the taste but it's 40 grams of protein, you can buy one bottle at a time there to try them, and it's different from the other protein shakes. I think it was about $4.00 a bottle.
  13. Hello, im 27y.o i got sleeved on 12/6 Sw 250 Cw 203 Its been almost 3 weeks and i havent been able to lose any weight, im scared this is it! When i do not go to the gym im working out at home. My doctor said i need to eat more Proteins bc im eating under my 70grams i get full quickly and i can only eat chicken or fish, bc the other meats are too hard for me. It hurts when it goes down so i tried to avoid them. I dont know what im doing wrong, also my hair started falling like crazy and for some reasons im having bad body odor (armpits...tmi) which it never happened to me since i was 12 So idk what to do next? What am i doing wrong? Im getting so discouraged like this is it?
  14. Where are you located? Maybe there is a different bariatric group you could try? 2 months is not normal. I think they were a little shocked when in just over 2 weeks I had done the endoscope, cardiologist, Pulmonologist, psych, nutritionist and sleep study. I had just had a full work up by my primary doctor and they accepted those blood tests. I literally left my first appointment and made most of the appointments right in the parking lot. I got lucky because I was able to get into those docs so quickly. The hardest one for me was psych bc there is a long list from my insurance company, but NOBODY seemed to do bariatric clearances. I literally called 20+. I finally called a local bariatric group (mine is an hour + away) and they were able to give me a name.
  15. Usually signs of sleep apnea are snoring and stopping breathing when sleeping (spouse or friend may tell you if they notice). Sometimes I would wake up sort of gasping for air. Other signs are felling tired all the time (that was mentioned above), falling asleep every time you sit Dow to read or watch a show or Movie. Restless leg syndrome are somehow correlated with it too- according to my pulmonologist. Maybe look into a different practice. My bariatric practice saw me and they had in house pulmonary, endoscope, psychologist & cardio docs. I did that all on my own bc I could get it done quicker by me. I was able to get my surgery done in less then 2 months from my initial visit....meanwhile I was going to Mexico bc I didn't think I would qualify. Crazy. I hope you find a way. I felt the same as you and it's like once I decided this was the route I was taking, I wanted it DONE.

    Dealing with others issues

I never thought I would say it but my bf is now distant from me. He has not spoken to me since 3/25 the day before surgery. It is now the 3/28 and still no response. All the talk and bs that he was spilling about caring and wanting to be there was a waste of time. I have decided to not waste anymore time on him as right now is about me and my healing. Sometimes we have to let things go and stop dealing with the nonsense of insecure men.
  18. Hello, I am desperately in need of some help. My husband had the sleeve gastrectomy in October. He's lost 115 pounds and looks amazing! In the beginning he was very strict and followed his diet. Now in the past month I've noticed him cheating more. He will take 1 bite of everything he's not supposed to eat, and sometimes more. I mentioned it to the nutritionist and she said it's okay as long as it's only 1 bite to satisfy his craving. It's starting to be more than one bite, and if I say something or give him a look it starts a huge fight! The other night I came home and saw a dirty ice cream bowl in the sink. I told him how worried I am bc my old boss regained ALL her weight from alcohol and ice cream. He fixed his body but not his brain. I'm 100% sure he's going to regain the weight if he's already cheating 5 months out. We have a baby now and I want him to be alive to see it grow up! He refuses to go to counseling. Please give me some advice on how to be supportive!

    Revision from band to sleeve

Well hell, that does suck. Yeah, Lapbands work for some people I suppose, I had mine for 5 years before I gave up on it. In quick terms, within 6 weeks of being sleeved I had lost 5 more pounds than I ever lost in the 5 years I was banded, so your situation is not abnormal. Will insurance cover it, IDK. It would depend on your insurance, soI would call them. I had to go through the whole six month BS before the lap band, but to revise to a sleeve I only needed to do 3 months. I'm sure every carrier is different. Either way, I wish you the best of luck, and results!!

  21. Did you try through your insurance? thats the requirements of my insurance too, and I didn t have the co morbidities. I was able to get approved bc my doctor said it was medically necessary. I've got hip/joint pain. I do have sleep apnea, but listed as mild at the worst. My BMI was 37

    Going into surgery pregnant

Yes BC regulated my period. My period would come on the week of the inactive pills like clock work. I missed 2 of those inactive pills last month but was right on track after that. I just read stories of females getting negative pregnancy results at home and at doctors appointment up to like 4months prego lol. It would just be sad if I go into surgery and turns out I am prego but lose the child because of the surgery.
  23. Your very pushy. I say it again , " it's not my job and I do it feel responsible to do so" if a people catch a clue and realize I don't want to talk about it , they won't hear BS, if they push me...they are getting a BS story ...they shouldn't be pushy like you ,trying to be passive aggressive and change people's mind. Why don't you get a blog and shout it to the world, if you feel like your some kind of spokesman for WLS. I think there's enough on the web already. stay strong and goodluck to everyone!
  24. Get a new Endo. My Endo told me to eat less and workout more even though I was working out 2x a day. I was out in BC and metformin to help symptoms and the BC got rid of all the excess hair and he metformin curbed the appetite a little but not enough to really help-probably because I needed a higher dose. Hang in there, but definitely see a new Endo.

Random Bariatric Thought of the Day.

@QueenofTheTamazon we have the same surgeon [emoji5]. The day of my discharge I had to wait around 1hr bc he was in surgery. I like him, and I like Marissa she's awsome.
