We've lost almost the same amount and unfortunately had pretty close starting weights.
I'm doing great. I'm loving life, ya know? I've fallen in love with working out bc I can really kill it in the gym now - I just feel strong. I've lost 104 with the band (banded July 10, 09) and 119 total! What do you do in STL? I work for the State Senate...policy & budget nerd. Haha.

Izaiahsmommy-When are you starting your pre-op diet? I am starting mine on Sunday! What are you doing for yours? I am able to have 3 protein shakes and some other "liquids". I will get about 800 cals a day for pre-op! Oh boy! May I ask how much weight you want to lose?

Hi there, Crissy!
I am getting mine done at NorthWest Weight Loss Surgery Center in Everett. All they do for weight loss is Lap Band. Hearing that you are going to Swedish for yours makes me wonder if I have made a mistake. Just because Swedish is such a wonderful hospital. NWWLS has been wonderful. They have support meetings twice a month and open appointments for counseling so that part is nice.
I read about your infection... best of luck with that! Hope you are making a quick recovery and getting on top of it. I am on my post op diet. Three 110 calorie protein shakes and one 400 calorie meal a day. It is crazy. However, important because it shrinks the liver to make the surgery easier.
Thursday is my surgery. Should take four hours and then I can go home.
I will let you know how things were for me.
I am more nervous than I thought I would be. About the journey after the surgery and not the surgery itself.
Cheers,
Tanya

Your doing so well with your weight loss. I could use some advice from you. I have read many different blogs and many people are not eating "regular" food. I see that you are eating about 1/2 cup of food. Are you eating regular type foods but in smaller amounts? You are doing so well I was wondering if you could give me some advice. Thanks. I am going to be banded next Monday.

Hi! How are you doing...did you find out what you are having? Friday is 15 wks for me. I'm thinking about getting the 3d sono to find out...i just can't wait.
I am doing ok. I had to go to the er a few weeks back because I needed fluids so bad from throwing up and not being able to drink. But since then I have been good, and fingers crossed, the throwing up is gone! I am very happy. I havent gained anything, but am staying the same. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care!

Hey! Saw your pics and wanted to comment....you're adorable! And please, don't have an anxiety attack here...have you seen how many people really put themselves out there! I was banded in Sept. 09 and have had a slow weight loss...its all good though...I'm down 42 lbs. and that's alot better than I would have done without the band! I exercise hard and wish I could have done this when I was your age...but at least I did it and I am having a blast in life! Best of luck and know that you are amongst understanding, non-judgemental people here!

Thanks for all the lovely messages. I sort of fell off the planet for a while: I was depressed about not losing weight, and I got engaged and have been in the process of planning a wedding. Anyway, I'm back.

Oh, my gosh....it is so nice to see someone else with the same history!!! Seriously...no one ever believes you that you work out when you work out a ton...or you don't love food b/c you are a fatty! It is so frustrating!!! But...it is nice to know someone else wiht the same problem and that being banded helped you. I just got accepted into the 6 month program through my insurance so that they pay for it....it is so frustrating....b/c I can't lose any weight on it....or else they will kick me out....so it seems kind of pointless...and I'd rather just get on with it! I'm so jealous of all of the skinny people on here! I want that SO much.....Anyway, thanks for all of your inspiration!! Keep posting the pics!!

Hi, I am writing you back in response to my pre-op weight. When I started the process I was 189lbs, but I was 209 at my highest. I am only 5 foot on a good day. I was banded Jan 2008 and I had reached my doctors goal of 125lbs that Oct. I really hadn't tried to lose any more weight after that but it just kept coming off. So I am now 102lbs and holding for the past 8 months. I too doubted if this was going to work for me since everything else had failed. But with a lot of hard work it paid off for me in the end. I know for a fact that if you work your band it will reward you. There has never been one regret this whole time. Even through all the bad days, this was simply the best thing for me. Please let me know if there is anything else you would like to know. I am pretty open about things on here since I chose not to tell friends or family about my surgery. Talk to you soon and I hope this helps some.

I'm doing pretty good can't complain much!! I just wish all reports were done & submitted to my dr.s office so they can submit it to my insurance already!! The wait is going to drive me insane gurl!! Wowwwwwwwww!!1 Way to go on the 10 lbs!! Your weight loss will pick up again walking is good you will be amazed by how fast 20 mins go by. If you have a Wii try the fitness games they are really good from what I read & friends that I know have it has helped them lose quite a bit of weight all the while, while having fun. Puree food is not really that bad if you like progresso soups try them their not bad when you puree them in a blender. You can also add an unflavored protein to it also to make sure you get enough protein in.....

Hi Susan, how are you doing? I haven't lost any more weight in the past week and I'm really peed off about it. I'm having about 8-900 calories now so logically I SHOULD be losing it shouldn't I?
I should just not weigh myself really but I always do!
What's happening with your weight?
I lost 12lbs in the first 10 days, then it took 5 more days to lose another pound, then nothing! I don't think anything will change when I have my fill on the 24th as I'm not overeating at all. I can eat anything now, including bread, which is great! I'm really careful though as I'm not all that hungry.
Speak soon, Sue x

I was banded on 03-25-10, and Im still getting used to all this. First I was kind of confused about what I should or should not be eating as I seem to be able to handle quite a bit of items. I kind of got off track on starting soft foods before Im supposed to, so Im backtracking so I can do it right. I so want this to work! One question I do have is, are you supposed to lose a lot of weight prior to your first fill, or does the weight really start coming off after your fill? I've only lost 7 pounds and I feel like maybe thats not good enough? Any help would be great.

Well done on the weight loss! I bet you were pleased. You must notice the difference in your clothes too? I am going to start weighing and measuring everything because I have gained 3lb in the last two days and I havent had anything I shouldn't have? I am at a loss as to why this is happening but I dont like it. :-( So I guess this will be the start of "bandster hell" for me. I am still down to 248 from 277 but that is only 7lb since the band. My mind is racing now, what happens if I follow all the rules and still dont lose weight? I am just hoping the fill will do the trick. Maybe Ive just healed really fast so have no restriction at all. Whatever the reason I have to get back on it because everyone keeps asking me "how much have you lost now?" and I dont want to say Ive gained. I didn't ask about driving. Are you ok to drive so soon?

Hi Wendy
Hope you are feeling better.I hear walking helps.I walked all night the night of the surgery.I'm lucky the gas didn't last long & I'm feeling good. Not so sure if I'm enjoying the band yet. I go for my first fill on 4/10.Already saw the Dr. for follow up on Mon.I lost 19 pounds since the pre-op but have gained 1 1/2 since starting the mushies. I hear that's pretty common. Your body was being starved, now that you are giving it a few hundred calories more, it's holding on tight. I'm eating pretty much what you are. I'm trying to get in a protein shake for the protein (not because I love it, which I don't) I also get soup once in a while. Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good. I'm trying to go to the gym every other day. I have a torn meniscus in my knee. I'm dealing with the knee with PT. Hopefully I can avoid surgery on the knee. What are you doing about Easter?
-
totally feel like my self with out all the leg and knee pain from my weight. im down 14 pounds since surgery making that a total of 41 pounds lost. how are feeling. have a great easter

If you're following your doctor's plan, then I'm sure you're okay. I'm just a chicken and stick to my doctor's plan exactly even though he is pretty conservative. The Carnation Instant Breakfast drink is good, kind of like a thick glass of chocolate milk -not really a shake. I really could drink more than 4 oz -maybe even a full drink, but I'm too afraid. I've been getting out a little more since I can drive again. No more pain medication. I'm down to 211 from my starting weight in Nov of 247. I couldn't help it, I just had to weigh myself!

Hi! I just read your comment on one of my pics and thought I'd leave you with the answer to the question you asked.
I started out by walking, but as I got stronger, and lost weight, I started cycling. Cycling (on a spin bike) became my main source of exercise, and I cycled 40 mins 3 times a week most weeks. It was good because my knee was arthritic and cycling was low impact. As I approached my goal weight, I did take up some running but it aggravated my knee, so I stopped.
Doing that, it took me 7 months to lose 66lbs. And I've lost another 19lbs or so since my body lift, though since my lift, I don't exercise in a structured way so much anymore.
