Stalls suck green balls. At any time. But most especially the dreaded "3 week stall" that happens any time within weeks 2-6. LOL. I wanted to sacrifice small animals. Cuz I was eating like 4-500 cals and thinking, this is BS!!!! LOL. But I swear it will break. Stay the course. Drink your water, maybe even add in decaf green tea. Walk. Walk. Walk!!!

Got to the gym for 50 minutes today, and decided I WILL get to the gym tomorrow morning before my flight. I was starting to feel anxiety about not getting to the gym several days in a row, bc I am ALWAYS afraid of falling back on my old "COUCH POTATO" lifestyle. So, I am committing to getting in that exercise tomorrow morning early, so that I will only miss Friday this week. Still struggling to get in all the Water, although I will try to drink several glasses tonight. Cottage cheese and fruit for lunch, chicken salad and homemade chicken soup for dinner. How did everyone else do today? Meeting your goals?

Horizon BCBS of NJ nutritionist and physiological part before getting the lap band
Tracyde730 replied to Raf's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Horizon BC/BS of NJ. I'm getting banded on 8/1 by Dr. Ewing from Hackensack Hospital. LOVE HIM!!! I used the Nutritionist they recommended (much easier that way) and she cost $100. I went for a Psych eval from a Psychiatrist and that cost $30.60 (after being submitted to ins). The surgery will be fully covered once it's approved, which hopefully be in the next few weeks. Please look into Lap-Band Associates in Hackensack, NJ. They are wonderful! They are a practice with 3 great doctors. Let me know how you make out!! Good luck! -
You Know You Were Fat When...
GeauxForIt replied to Mckate's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I work with mainly men (only 4 other women out of 80 employees!) and they are so funny about how to comment! I had one tell me the other day that my pants were baggy. I'll take it! lol Several have commented about being able to tell I've lost but I think it's bc I've been really open about the surgery. I think a lot of people notice, but aren't comfortable commenting bc they don't want to offend in some way. -
Hi Azpete! Do you remember/know your insurance requirements? Anticipating A Denial
piercedphoenix replied to BoBann's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have BC BS also. They took their sweet ass time for my approval. It got to be 4 weeks into it, and I started called everyday. They explained to me, everytime the doctor sends info to them, they have 14 days to decide. It starts over every time the doc sends in info, or the pre auth nurse needs info. I wasso frsutrated I was starting to get depressed. I started calling to much the reps knew my voice. I explained to one, I don't want to be a pain in the ass, but I am worried about my health, if I am on the fastball, you all should be too. Everyday that goes by, more money is spent on my conditions that this surgery could improve. I found a rep who went through all my records and started calling me, within a week I wa approved. You have to keep some pressure on the insurance companies. Just be nice everytime you call in, but follow up, follow up, follow up!!!! -
The day after I wrote this I started gushing! Bright red, TONS of clots (sorry tmi). This cannot be normal. I'm almost 3 months out and it's not like there has been a large build up bc I haven't had my period! I've had it continuously! I'm on provera now to try to stop the bleeding. I don't know if this has anything to do with the surgery... I've stopped losing weight and inches. Almost no change in 20 days. I can only guess it is because I'm not getting enough calories an water in each day. This was the single worst decision I ever made.

Report it. That's truly BS. & then to come back & pretend to be all humbled?

My husband travels a lot and it's hard bc you can't really wrap it up and bring it back to the hotel. I mean maybe you could, but your next meal will probably be out with co workers as well and there's not always space to store it. I think for that reason you need to get into the mindset it is ok to waste food, you don't need a clean plate and a child is not going to starve because you didn't finish your food. For me, I had to get out of my head it was a waste of money. (otherwise my husband and kids would gain weight b/c at first I wasn't hungry to finish the own but I didn't want to waste it so I pushed it on my family dining with me, when they had their own meals- luckily they had no problem saying no to my food and it didn't phase them if my left overs got wasted). Then I accepted it is ok not to finish food when a restaurant serves so much. (If in a situation I can wrap it up and take it off that's a different story). If the group orders an appetizer and you take one piece and just eat a bite of it, they won't really notice and might be happy more for them. Order a healthy dinner and eat a small amount. If anyone says anything (which they prob won't) it's ok to say you are watching what you eat, you want to be healthy for your next physical. (no need to mention lapband unless you want to. I just tell people I'm trying to lose weight if they comment) My drs office is offereing a class where the surgeon and nut, go out to a restaurant with lapband patients and show us how to eat wisely in a restaurant. After I go, I might have more tips for you.

I have that nosey co-worker also. She has made it very clear in the past about her views on weight loss surgery. She has already asked twenty questions regarding a day off I took for my x-rays and lab work.... "Is this lab work something extra, or is this part of your yearly check-up exam?" All I said was I have to have some blood drawn. And she proceeded to go on and on about what our BC/BS pays for and what it doesn't. See how nosey she is? Both of her kids have lost 100+ lbs. with diet and exercise and feels that anyone else could do the same. (not that she has much room to talk) I work in an office of 5 people. What am I going to tell them? I can't just take a week off work for no reason. I am thinking of telling my boss that I need to have a cyst removed from my ovary. (is this a "white" lie?) I really don't want the lectures, and the constant questions about what I'm eating, what I'm drinking etc.....because I'll be hearing it day in and day out from my nosey co-worker. And I hate confrontation. So I guess I'm gonna lie regarding my reason for needing a week off work. I do like Carlene's responses...I've written them down to memorize!

well...I have to go out atleast on the weekends because I partially work at the club I go out to.......its not necessarily the feeling of booty call that bothers me at all, I dont want a real relationship right now...Ive figured that out so far...after being in one so serious for so long, I just dont want to put that much effort into another human being....the stripper doesnt make me feel like one anyways, hes had his eye on me since September! In fact he was a little nervous to talk to me again, he got my friend to do it for him at first...I need that male attention to feel pretty. I feel good because Im attractive enough to get that attention from guys...I really just like to feel attractive....Ithink my hormones are wacked from BC pills...in fact Im sure of it. Im getting them switched Monday so I should be feeling better. I dont feel degraded by guys unless they are talking about how fat I am, or ugly or something like that....I really like the attention. Trust me it felt good fall asleep in a man's arms, and wake up in them too....to be held with such passion that he didnt want me to get out of the bed. He's called me all day anyway, he's actually got a heart.

Feeling a little beaten-down
faithmd replied to Dee66's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can't speak for the OP, but if you have BC/BS and don't have the requirements yet, please call them right now and ask. Many people can have the SAME insurance company, and sort of the same policy and one's requirements may be different from the other because of riders their employer may or may not have purchased. That's why I always advise EVERYONE to call your own insurance company, and have them look up YOUR policy and then ask them to explain what the requirements for coverage for Adjustable Gastric Banding is, then have them send you a hard copy. And write down names. -
Feeling a little beaten-down
gisellehuet replied to Dee66's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I completely understand how you feel.. It took me months to make the decision to have the surgery, then I had to wait 3 months for my first appointment. And unlike your experience the personnel was not very kind. But yes I found out of all the "new" requirements that I needed before they could tell me if BC/BS would approve the surgery! I tried to get around it, especially the 6 month supervised weight loss, but there is no way out. All these requirements are going to take a long time... I can tell you it is very stressful and at times I just wanted to put all these behind and forget about the surgery... But beleive me you just need to learn how to be patient...I finally got approved after almost a year after my 1st appointment, and I found out because I called the insurance company, I still have not received the letter yet. NOw I am waiting to set the date and go for all the pre-op stuff. The waiting period is really hard... but during this long time of waiting I learned more about myself and my eating patterns, I have grown stronger emotioanlly, and I think that all these will help me after the surgery. I like to think that the surgery will happen when it has to happen, not before not after, just at the right time. Take it easy.. -

Anyone avoid a hysterectomy with the LapBand???
Elisabethsew replied to BayCityBandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ask about endometrial ablation. This basically burns the endometrium and stops the bleeding. Estrogen is stored in fat cells and being on double dose BC pills at 45 coupled with obesity makes you VERY at risk for blood clots (been there... NOT fun). -
Bipass Or Sleeve - Now I’M Confused
scaredoftheunknown replied to shastadaisy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a good article. I really think it has to do with the amount of weight you have to lose, maybe even the type of medication you are on now.. I am a type 2 diet controlled diabetic and had the sleeve done. When I left the hospital (2 days after surgery) my bs was in the low 70 and its been like that ever since. I feel great and accomplished. Good luck. -
Hiatal hernia Repair & Gastric Sleeve?
MamaAsh32 replied to MamaAsh32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been on two medication (PPI) for 19 years. I developed my HH while pregnant with my first child. And I get an upper and lower GI done once a year due to the damage from my HH. Each time I have polyps that need to be tested, etc. The surgery to have my HH was suggested and when I told my PCP, he's the one who suggested having WLS at the same time. But bc the stomach is reduced with the sleeve the acid is pushed back up more often... so for me I'm not really sure how it will all work out... I can't imagine the reflux pain being worse but I was really hoping to fix that all together.... since my objective is to heal my esophagus and get off the medications bc they are not good long term either. So to answer your concern, my doc says I will remain on my medication after surgery and take me off one at a time, see how I do and then take me off the other. Fingers crossed... I'll be off them for good! 😉 -
I actually have bc/bs hshs through the hospital where I work. And they better not pull that crap!!! I've already had to change programs because of the contract with my hospital. I'm hoping my situation is different since I'm revising from band to gastric. However, if I have learned nothing else, it is a money game!

Why Aren't You Losing Weight?
TulipStar replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am so frustrated bc the weight loss is so slow. This week I lost ZERO pounds. I carefully logged all my food, with an average of 1200 calories per day. I am also exercising every single day, 4 days of step aerobics (45 minutes) followed by 20 minutes on the rowing machine. I also walk 3 days a week and I have start weight training. It is really frustrating to see the scale stay the same. However, my clothes are definitely looser and I fit into jeans I haven't worn in forever. According to my bodybugg, I should have lost at least 4 lbs, but I didn't so I must be lying and my caloric intake must have been over 3000 calories per day! No way is that right. UGH! I know that I should only be eating like 1000 calories per day, but that is soo hard. I find 1200 to be much more reasonable and I am still hungry with 1200. -
Memorial Day Challenge
melzie_99 replied to MollyRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was doing well last week until my dr started me on a new BC pill; been gaining weight ever since. NOT HAPPY!! (However, it IS that time so maybe that's the problem...)Going in for my second fill in a few hours (dr still seems to think I should only be able to eat 1/2c of food at a time...*sigh*). Think I'm only down .4 this week officially, but I guess it's better than a gain... -
What role does the Scale play in your life?
Gardengirl replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was in the hospital getting sleeved I swore I wouldn't get on the scale until my two week post op appt. ha! I get on every single morning. Well, I skipped one morning and actually felt nervous, like, the pounds were going to magically creep up bc I didn't keep them in check. I like your son's insight. I also like the NSVs that people report bc those are what we should all be the most proud of. -
Treadmill VS Elliptical
hazeleyegrl1 replied to bandster_1007's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i LOVE LOVE LOVE my elliptical....I'm doing a 2008 Challenge: A Year of Miles on my elliptical! I have 365 days to complete 365 miles on it. I will admit that whenever I first started using it, after 10 or 15minutes I was done...couldn't go on anymore...couldn't finish a mile! I still loved it though, I just had to build up to a mile....and now, I have found myself finishing a mile and going farther and farther past that mile as my stamina builds up. Plus, there are different programs on there to build up your resistance. I can tell you this....I used to walk 3miles a day, 3 times a week....and just 1 mile on my elliptical I feel like I sweat more and get an overall better workout then 3 miles of just walking. I don't have a treadmill, so I can't honestly say anything one way or another about them....but I will 100% endorse the elliptical. and as far as the one you pick out, just make sure it is one that feels good to you and you are comfortable on it....oh, and make sure its sturdy.... mine does squeek and my hubby has had to adjust it and its leveling a few times, but i won't trade it in for a new one bc it cost me over $300 back in december and i will just turn up the radio louder and keep going if i have too....LOL.... xoxo, christie Hope that info helps.
