Pop corn is added fiber for me. I don't eat it often, and I can't eat much of it, but I still enjoy it. Popcorn is definitely not a slider food for me. Everyone is different. TMI: it helps me avoid constipation, so I continue to enjoy it sparingly.

Please don't get mad at me for asking! For me, for my whole life, throwing up is one of the worst things for me, ever. It is the worst sensation and just thinking about it makes me shudder. I do anything to avoid it. Thankfully I am not squeamish. But I've had to stop taking certain meds that cause severe nausea because of it, including some pain meds. Same with a couple foods. I just can't enjoy them at all. Is throwing up with a sleeve more painful? Is there more dry heaving? What food in tolerances have you developed that have caused vomiting? The vomit issue was one of the reasons why I choose not to go with the RNY. Puking very often, especially in the beginning, would be horrible. Sent from my DROID RAZR using VST

Stool softners help though stay away from laxatives because they cause cramping. This is TMI, but if it's "right there" but you can't get it out, I would try a suppository or enema. Going forward, drink LOTS of Water and consider a daily Fiber supplement.

Sorry about the TMI....I had RNY this past Monday and got home yesterday. My doc has me on all liquids for first week home. Last night I had my first protein shake (2 ounces as directed). Every time I have a shake, I'm running to the bathroom shortly after. And obviously nothing is solid...not fun. Does anyone else experience like this? -

Does this ever NOT WORK for anyone?
tnellp replied to tnellp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol, yes I've thought about this! TMI, I just told my mom today that I run weigh every time I poop hehe But I did start taking colace yesterday, so I'm hoping that will help get everything moving! -
Okay, this might be TMI, but I am going to ask the question. Yesterday I had a difficult time having a BM. After I finally had success, I had some discomfort in my band area. I thought it would disapate with time, but it hasn't. I am still have some discomfort there. I can eat with out getting stuck or having pain. Drinking is fine. I have stayed full for 3.5 hours on Breakfast so far. I do have a call in to the doc, but just wondering has any one else had this experience? I feel like it is most likely muscle strain from the straining, but not sure.

I'm now 17 1/2 months post-op, and my periods seem to be getting heavier & heavier! Like huge clots heavier! Should I address this with my dr? my superpower is......

how do you know when you're full?
CHEZNOEL replied to karanicole26's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Side cramps could be constipation, I know TMI. I know when I am full when I hiccup. I am also full when my serving size is gone. Sometimes the signal is slower than I eat. -
Bubbles stuck in my throat sensation?
canadianchick replied to RichardVST's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 months out and I still get it ! It feels like a big air bubble that has to come up but can't. It is painful and frustrating. If I'm eating at the time then I stop for a couple minutes...it subsides momentarily but thats it. I am usually uncomfortable for up to a couple of hours after. It feels like I need to belch...I'm not now nor have I ever been a belcher but it feels like that is what has to happen in order to relieve the pressure. Sometimes if I can a burp up, a little bit of vomit comes up too... Tmi ? sorry just being honest. I feel your pain RichardVST and I also agree that an ENT isn't going to help... but hey you never know. Let me know what happens !! You can pm me if you like Cheers -

Yeah tmi lol but at least I know now. All it takes is one bite and I have to rush to throw up. I might as well start eating my meals in there.
-
Yes, thats what they call "sliming". Definitely call your dr on Monday. It should be an occasional thing, not at every single meal. I call it a jellyfish swimming in the toilet (I know, tmi) Marci

pre-op liquid diet and the tummy grumbles...
makemyownluck posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far, the shakes have been keeping my hunger in check. I've been hungry here and there, but nothing I couldn't get over. For me, the worst part is that my stomach is grumbling constantly today. Grumbling isn't even the right word - more like whale songs. My stomach is singing to me, and not in a good way. Also, **TMI ALERT** I'm getting a little diarrhea. Not terribly, but it's not what it should be, either. I can't tell if that means I'm dehydrated or if it's supposed to be like that because I'm on liquids only. I feel okay otherwise, but I can't seem to get my stomach to calm down. I've been taking a Fiber supplement to try to stay regular, not sure if it's helping. Any one got suggestions? -
I had my lap band on Thursday. I was expecting pain, but it has exceeded my expections! Is anyone having gas pain in their shoulders and chest? Any suggestions on what to take to help with that?...I am going to try the lentil soup. I have been up and walking every two hours, but not passing any gas (tmi, I know, sorry) Is anyone else hungry? My mom had the surgery a year ago and said she wasn't hungry for quite a while...I feel like I am starving! My stomach is growling and I have a headache. The gas pains make me nervous thinking I have something stuck in there, even though I have only had full liquids. Any suggestions or encouragement would be wonderful.

I'm in the final stretch. I'm ending Day 2 of the pre-op liquid diet. Tomorrow, I'll be 12 days away from surgery. I'm officially counting down! I'm really not hungry on the diet. Well, tonight I was feeling it a little - but only a tiny bit, so I just had a shake and I was fine. I'm not saying it will continue to be easy, but so far it's been fine. I started working my way into the liquid diet last weekend by having shakes but also one yogurt a day as well. Since Sunday, I've lost 13lbs. I was on my period last weekend, so I know that's part of it (cuz I had gained about 3 lbs the week before when the period was starting-hope I don't offend with TMI). Now I seem stuck in wondering how much weight I'll actually lose and how fast it will happen. I've never been thin, so I have no idea what any given weight would look like on me. I think to myself, "Will I still be plus size, but more like a size 18-20? Or will I actually be SKINNY and go for a size 10?" I also think to myself "You have a higher BMI, you'll lose faster!" and then I think "You don't wanna lose too fast because you'll look awful." Deep down, I seriously fear more than anything else that I'll look like a deflated elephant when this is all said and done. I strongly feel that I'll look terrible. I can feel myself self sabotaging with these thoughts, but I can't stop them. I want to believe that this surgery has nothing to do with vanity, but if I'm honest with myself, it's almost ALL about vanity. Vanity, and the idea that if I don't do something about my weight - AND QUICK - I'm gonna be alone for the rest of my life. And again, I have to stop thinking like this. Losing weight isn't gonna find me a decent man. At best, it's gonna give me the confidence to date, but even then it's not guaranteed that I'll meet a man I want to marry. Maybe the part of me that's causing the anxiety is the part that fears this surgery will change nothing. That even if I'm successful losing weight, nothing else will really change in my life. I like to think that suddenly I'll be so much more fun and outgoing and happy and friendly - because that's how I was when I was younger and thinner - but it's not realistic to think that my personality will revert to a time that long ago. I've had low self-esteem because of my weight for a long time. Will that change? Or will I still be miserable and self-loathing (i.e. calling myself a deflated elephant). I probably need a shrink. I've had therapists before, never really connected with any of them. And this is just, idk, embarrassing for me to talk about. :\ Well, on that note, I'm off to sleep. xo

cross fit eating before and after - help
tallysfunny replied to Fiddleman's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I just did the "Dirty Thirty" today. It's only my second day back to Crossfit since having my gallbladder out 16 days ago. I'm struggling on what to eat before and after. I think I need more before and I have a good handle on the after I think. I eat strawberries and almonds before. Protein shake after with several grams of glutamine powder for recovery. Soon after I eat protein and veggie. Then a Soup made with onions, peppers, tomato and ground turkey. Greek yogurt with Protein Powder and then dinner is protein and veggie. And I'm drinking home brewed unsweetened caffeine free green tea. I can't even sit down on the toilet (not too much TMI, other cross fitters get it)! -
Even though we all know we should, many of us fail to listen to what our docs and NUTs have to say; some in major ways, some in small. Now in the major ways I always listen to my doctor, I am to afraid not to. I do not want complications. But, in small ways, I fail at times. For instance, in March I went to see my doc for my 9 month check up. We discussed how I was doing- good, felt good, not getting hungry, eating 3 meals a day. I track calories in and I track by my fitbit how many calories I use- I showed the doc. During all this I was complaining that my weight loss seems to have slowed almost to a stop. After reviewing my intake and calorie burn (1200-1300 calories - 2100 to 2200 calories out), the PA said I wasn't eating enough. Now I have been over weight since I was 5 years old. Never have I been told I wasn't eating enough. I was terrified that this would cause me to regain some of what I'd lost, but I tried for a few days, a couple more pounds came off. Then I was headed out on vacation. The hubs and I went to Florida for a week and took in Disney and Sea World. During this time I was also on my monthly cycle. My band was really tight and I had a really hard time eating, even yogurt was a struggle in the morning. I was burning close to 3000 calories a day due to all the walking. When I return my weight was up 4 lbs - WTH, I hardly ate? I figured some was salt intake and apparently that was true. In a week of being back on schedule I was back down to pretrip weight. This week since being really back to normal I have increase my protein intake and started eating snacks as my doctor recommended. All week I have stayed at the 190 weight. Each day I have eaten a snack of 1 weight watchers cheese stick and about 12 grapes (if I didn't want grapes I ate half of an apple). I found this was a tasty snack and I never got hungry, always kept a satisfied feeling. This morning my weight dropped to 189.8!! Ok, this is big to me. Okay TMI I know, but I haven't gone number 2 in 3 days. So being that I haven't really pottied well and my weight went down make me feel really good. Maybe I should listen and heed instead of just hearing every little tid bit the doc says!!

The best advice you can give a fellow sleever
beba238 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone. I wrote this to help a sleever with some advice and felt that we can all benefit from each others advice ( which is mostly what the site is about) however let's make it happen here right now. For stalls, for gains, for recipes, for exercise, for Protein, for love, etc Etc... Tmi advices are also welcomed lol] Step one. Most Important part is protein and Water. 60-80 grams of protein per day 64 oz of water per day ( most docs say its okay to count coffee, tea, Protein shakes, etc win the 64 oz) Protein you can get from food, Protein Bars, or shakes. Some shakes have too much sugar so keep and eye in that. Step two. Calories up up up carbs low low low We need the calories to burn fat and lose the weight depending on what your nut/ doc say and how much you want to lose. I aim for 900-1200 per day. If you don't eat calories your body will go into starvation mode and you will not lose weight. Carbs like Pasta, rice and bread are not good. They will fill you up and make you bloated because it makes you retain water and not give you nutrition. Some carbs can be good like yams and plantains. Google it. Step three. Sugar It's hard to avoid sugar when watching everything else a good way to avoid it is to buy sugar free everything and using Splenda when you want to add sugar to something. Fruit has a lot of sugar so try to limit yourself to at least the fruits with least sugar. Don't know what they are? Thank God for Google!!! Lol Step four. Measurements Buy measuring cups. (Tsp-1 cup) Buy a bottle that holds a large amount of water like: 32 oz---- if you buy a Poland spring water it will say 32 Fl Oz Step five. Plan ahead Plan what your going to eat in advance especially if you have to work or are going out. Grab a calendar or and itinerary and write down what you plan to eat for the whole week for Breakfast lunch and dinner and include Snacks in between each. This way you you've already calculated the Proteins and calories for each day and you don't have to worry about it. Step six. Exercise Choose what makes you happy. I LOVE to dance. Dancing is a workout so I'm starting dance classes in may. Incorporate walking into your life. Park the car far from stores, go window shopping at the mall, walk the dog or catch up with a friend or loved one while walking. Step seven. Change it up Routines are boring. Planning ahead will help change up the recipe everyday. This includes exercise. Ex: Monday salsa class, Tuesday 30-45 minute walk, Wednesday break, Thursday pop in a workout DVD or look for videos on YouTube , Friday swimming, Saturday break, Sunday boxing. Step eight. Enjoy Don't go crazy. (Which you will the first few days) but then it will be natural. Don't deprive yourself but at the same time makes smart decisions. My bf ordered take out. It smelled so good. Went straight for a peace of broccoli chewed it and divorced it well and swallowed didn't look at the rice at all. Step nine. Keep track Track your food intake. there are apps like myfitmesspal.com not to mention FREE where you can login in everything you eat and drink. again, Google Is your best friend. Use it as a tool. Step ten. The scale is still not your friend Step away from your scale. Hide it if possible. Weigh yourself only once every 2 weeks or once a month. You have not lost a pound in a few week but have you taken your measurements. Because you are losing inches. Notice your bra strap slipping down your arm and your fave pants .... You need a belt now. The most essential part of weight loss are the non scale victories. I crossed my legs, went up five flights without getting tired, bumped into my ex. Wore a dress I haven't worn in 3 years, did have a heart track while tying my shoes laces. Overall have fun and don't think about it too much. I'm not a doctor or a nut. I'm not here to judge you I am here like everyone ewe to get help and answer others. This all came from a sleeved just like you. Good luck and I wish you the best. Sleepers best food.... What you should have on your grocery list Cottage cheese Skim milk Soy milk Greek yogurt Shredded cheese Cheese (American, Munster, Swiss, etc) Cheese sticks Sugar free Popsicles Granola Jello chicken eggs Yogurt oatmeal Nuts Peanut Butter Tuna Salmon Shrimp Keep this post going with ideas and advice. Thanks guys.
