    So Frustrating!

This just sounds like a stall to me. You had surgery about a week after me and are down five or more pounds than I am - so I think we're both pretty much right on target on weight loss. I got stuck in a three week long stall towards the beginning. It was horrible, but it broke eventually. If you're doing all the right things the scale will eventually start to show it again. You're doing great, try and focus on all the NSVs you must be having =)

    5 Weeks Post Op

Hard to be just a lil over 5 weeks ago, I was riddled with nerves wondering if I was making the right decision to have surgrey. Today, I know having the VSG was the best decision I could have made for my long-term health. It has re-engergized my motivation to work out and already so much of my confidence is being restored... Last week, I blogged about how I was bothered and now I guess I realized I am hurt that my ex-boyfriend had not acknowledged my weight loss. Well I talked to him about it and how that makes me feel. I am not sure what I expected to get out of it because I as reflect on the conversation, I am not sure he ever said he has noticed I lost weight. In fact, I do not realize much of the conversation, only that I walked away from it unsatisfied with his response. But life goes on... On the positive side, though my ex is not noticing so many other folk are noticing my weight loss and it is really a good feeling. I met up with friends over the weekend and none of them knew about the surgery and so I was worried about addressing the weight loss and not drinking. Well the not drinking never came up because I kept a cranberry juice in my hand and they only had good things to say about my weight loss...No questions as to what I was doing but just that I looked good...I also have began to see the weight loss in myself. When I was smaller, I always thought I had a long, giraffe neck so I hated my neck. Well I notice that giraffe neck coming back and I have never been happier to see it... And I am also noticing it in my midsection...It doesnt stick out under my boob like it used to...Shirts and dresses fix so much better...Yayy... Oan: Despite the warning against tomato based things because of acid issues, I thought I would give chili a try. Bad move. Other than the protein shakes that i grew tired of, it is really the only food that I have reacted bad too. Other foods have made me feel bad but more because I ate to fast and not because of the food itself. So for now, I am not doing tomato based because I already have enough issues with heartburn. I am pretty much able to eat most things. I went to our farmer's market this past weekend and ate fried noodles...It was just about a cup but still I know I was so out of line. It made me work out harder. I got mile 3 mile walk/run jog done in 43 minutes. I started out at 60 minutes... I am so happy that my stall/weight gain from last week did not carry on into this week. Last week I picked up two pounds by the time of weigh in. I actually picked up three pounds by Saturday evening. But today I am happy to report I got those pounds I gained off and then some... VSG 08/17/12 HW 232 SW 227 (5'8) Last Week 210.4 CW 205.4 ... It may be ambitious but I am going for 199.8 by Friday's weigh in. I am already down to 204 today so I gt 4.2lbs to make it happen. I am going to push the workouts and stick to high protein/low carb for the week. I want Wonderland...I want Wonderland...and with it so close it makes me go even harder for it.
  3. I am three weeks postop on blended food. I haven't lost a pound in over a week but total I have lost 20 since preop diet. I had about 70 to lose total. How many calories should I be having at this stage? I am getting 500-600 and 50-70 protein. Am I in a stall or not getting enough calories?

    Is She Right?

I started out around your weight...227 on the day of surgery...I am 5'8. I had a stall last week at 4 weeks out...In fact, I gained three pounds..It was the week I introduced soft foods and I also did not exercise that week...But this week I kicked my workout game up a notched and I lost the three I gained and an additional 3 mo pounds...So I thus far, I have lost 27lbs including 1 week pre-op where I lost 5lbs...While the sleeve is a great tool, I am doing my darnest to help it with the weight loss by sticking to a workout regime...I started walking 3 miles at 60 minutes about 2 weeks post op...Now I walk/jog 3 miles at 46 minutes. I am working toward 30 minutes...I say all this to say I want to really maximize the first 6 mo of the sleeve loss...I want to be that non-ideal case and hit my goal 155-160lb within 6 mo. And that only happens with hard work both in being good with diet compliance and working out...I got 50lbs to drop over the next 5 months...I am going as hard for it as I did for cold stone creamery ice cream on double stamp day Mondays...
  5. Completely normal to hit a stall between weeks two and three. I was a "week three staller" myself. Patience is the KEY!!!! Try not to weigh yourself for at least a week. You WILL start losing again!!

    August Sleeves?!

I was sleeved on 8/16 and have lost 30 lbs. I pretty much can eat everything and even the bad stuff I get full really fast but hungry again within an hour or two. It could be head hunger but I really feel hungry. Instead of eating three meals a day, I have small meals throughout the day. Hope that's not bad...:-/ I worry because unlike others I can drink a whole Protein shake all at once (10-15min) I am getting in all my Water and protein with no problems. Weight loss for me has been slow and hopefully will speed up. On week two I had a 2 week stall and then started to loose again, but very slow. I work out at the gym 4x's a week and have built up to burning around 500 cal....but haven't lost a pound in a week again. Ughhhh!

    Stall

That is the boot camp I was talking about. I keep hearing people mention it. I will take a look so I am ready for Monday. I am grateful to have group that can relate to the struggle of having to lose so much. I am worried it won't work. Even though I have lost a good bit I have so far to go. I keep stalling. I lost 50 on the preop and 70 post op. my surgery date was 5/25. I feel like I lose one week a month and stall the the other three it is so weird.

    Stalled And Confused....

southernchic01 you ARE doing great - everything you are doing is right on target - we all have these stalls through our journey - search "stalls" and you will see other peoples comments too you are walking, drinking, Protein - doing terrific as far as the scale is concerned - always a popular topic here your DH did you a favor by taking the scale away. as long as you weigh yourself daily - and don't see a lb loss - you will think you are at a stall only weigh once a week, or every other week etc. its hard to do, but start slow, don't step on the devil for maybe three days, then continue to increase your weight loss is great keep doing what you are doing - seems to be working for you, really don't be a slave to your scale we are all your cheering section RAH RAH RAH
  9. Weird, I know. Before surgery, I had implanon and currently do. Between June 2010 and May 2012, I only had 3 periods. I have had three since my surgery in May 2012. I have lost 42 lbs, to date. It seems like my longest and most stubborn stalls magically break half way through these week and a half long periods I've been having. It seems contridictory, since most women gain weight during that specific week. I had not lost anything since June 20, almost two months ago, and BAM. I wake up this morning 4 lbs lighter. Just an observation! I was just curious to see if this is a trend with women sleevers.

    Pcos Sleevers. Anyone?

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2001 but I knew I had something wrong with me in my teens. I've been sleeved for a bit over three months now. I hit a stall at three to four weeks like everyone else seems to. I had previously loss before the surgery over 50 pounds. I only update my profile once a month on the boards and on my fitness pal but I'm doing better than I have in the previous months. I don't worry about slow or fast weight loss as long as its gone.

    Six Months Out

50 pounds is a major accomplishment! Way to go! How many weeks have u gone without seeing the scale move? Are ur clothes fitting differently? I exercise like crazy and am mindful about my cals. I hit stalls pretty often, but they usually break after the three week mark. Keep plugging away and try not to compare urself to others. U really are doing great! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  12. Which stall? haha. Seriously though, first one was three weeks, second was a week. I'm 7.5weeks out. The drop after stall was drastic for the first one, slow for the second one. Hang in there, it happens to everyone! It will end eventually.
  13. It is incredible how well you ALL are doing just three months after surgery! It is so motivating and inspirational to see hear about your results in such a short time period! Thanks for sharing! SweetSusie, Dont be hard on yourself, 9 weeks and 32 lbs is great! Everybuddy has different numbers, I personally cant wait to get 30lbs off. Every bit is going to make my knees feel better Hang in there and I hope your stall pass quickly!!

    August Sleeves?!

I was sleeved 8/22 and down 21 lbs. I too seem to be stuck here but I've heard that there can be a stall at three weeks. I feel like I'm losing inches faster than weight.

    Greetings!

Hard to believe it's been three weeks since the operation. Wow time flies! I dropped 11 pounds in 6 days the second week, after I got home and then stalled for a full week after. Now I'm losing again. It is easier to eat healthy with out the constant hunger cravings. I eat 5 small meals a day and that seems to satisfy me fine. How are you all doing?

    Feeling In Denial ?!?!?

So I went from 218.5 to 217.8 after three weeks, does that mean I broke my stall or am I getting my hopes up? Lol
  17. Ok so I had the infamous three week stall... But I got over it. And when I get my period I dont lose as much But I have been stalled for like 2 weeks now and I don't have my period. I think my problem is not enough exercise and not being able to resist temptation as well I am almost five months out and down 110 pounds... But I still weigh 262!! Far from goal Any suggestions? Anyone wanna give me a swift kick in the behind? I feel like I should know the answer but can not enough Protein slow your weight loss? I prob get about 30 grams a day... I know... Bad

How Long Did Your First Stall Last :(

I'm at week 13 now. First stall was week 3 post op, and lasted two weeks. Think i may be going through another one. I lost three pounds two weeks ago, and last week I gained one back...UUGGHH.
  19. I don't know if it is just me but I can eat anything...so far. I am eating like a normal person and I feel so good. I went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant yesterday and had a shredded chicken taco with cheese and sour cream. I didn't eat the tortilla but OMG it was soooo good. And I feel normal. I just eat a little bit and I'm good. I had egg foo young and that was delicious. I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!!!!! The first three weeks were HELL....but I think I'm getting it. Of course I'm at a stall but at least I can eat LOL!!!! I think I understand. Example: They ordered tacos (yes I eat lots of tacos) at work. Normally I would order two and be hungry. Now I order one egg taco and I know that will be enough to fill me up. I always ordered lots of food because I wanted to be full, then would keep eating after I was full and overeat. Now my sleeve helps me so I only order one taco and eat the inside and I am stuffed and happy and content. This sleeve is going to help me so much stick to my diet. I just wish the scale would start moving LOL.... I hope the restriction lasts forever Also I hope this made sense....LOL

    Here We Go Again

Life has been pretty busy lately. Between school and work and having issues, there hasn't been a lot of time that I've been posting on here. I think it's been detrimental to me, so I wanted to post more. To warn you, this is going to be a bit of a rant, because I like to get stuff off my chest. I am starting to realize that my body has a pattern - and I hate it. It only wants to lose weight while I'm on my period. Not good since I was hoping I could continue my birth control through and get rid of a few periods every year. I am not losing on weeks that I am not on my period - despite having whole days of bleeding when I'm not on my period. It's so freaking lame. I am eating the right things. I am getting out doing stuff in my life and yet the scale is going up again and then wobbling, just like it did the stupid last stall. Am I going to go through this three weeks out of every month and only have one loss week per month? I really hope not, it's super discouraging. I am not even losing inches now. I was like well maybe since a couple weeks ago I've lost some inches. Nope. Zip. Zero. None. All my clothes fit exactly the same. =((( Come on body! Give me a break here! I eat like 1/1000 of what I used to, can we get back to losing??

    Update!

My story is similar to yours. I was sleeved on Aug 27 weight that day was 247. Two weeks out I'm at 223. I've been at this weight now for three days. I struggle to get my water in. I'm just moving into the purred stage and doing very well. I haven't been sick at all. Im disappointed that I seem to have stalled already. I meet with my nut tomorrow, looking forward to that. Mostly I'm scared that I want loose as much weight as I need to. I'm not sure where this fear comes from but I think it's from years of dieting and regaining. Good luck to you and me:)

    2 Weeks Out!

I'm the 27th too and lost 10 so far. But I Lost 20 on the three week pre op diet. Plus I figure I will lose slowly since I gave less to lose. I have 25 more to get to goal and really hope I can do that by Christmas but kind of in a stall right now. Haven't lost anything for 4 days.

    Hungry Days?

I am a little over 4 months post op and my nutritionist said that I should be eating 1200 calories a day. I actually was not eating enough and found when I upped to 1200 a day I started losing again. She said that our bodies are really not intended to function long term on the lower calories. If you had a three week stall, I would strongly consider taking a couple of weeks and trying to experiment with your calories and find a level of calories that your body likes. Mine likes to get around 1200-1400 and I lose about 0.8 every day that I hit that target, of course if I go over, then it doesn't but if I have a really low day in the 800 range, I also gain. I know that this is not what a lot will say, but I find that it works well for me and I wanted my lifestyle to be something i could maintain forever and I know that I could never last long term eating 800 calories a day. I intend to eat 1200-1400 per day for the rest of my life with the occasional day that will go over that.
  24. Well, guys and gals, I finally made it! I say finally.. that is kinda funny really. I was obese for over 20 years and it took me exactly 13 months to.. not only get to a normal weight but my dream weight!!!!! I use the word finally because these last 15 pounds have been S L O W compared to the rest of it. I lost an average of three pounds per month for May and June....then I kicked it up a notch and cut my carbs back and lost a whopping 7 in July.. stall for most of August, then bam! Lost the last 3 pounds this weekend! Lordy, I hope it stays off. Here at the end, I tend to lose 2 or 3 pounds then gain 2 back and it takes me 2 more weeks to lose it again. So I am trying to go into maintenance a little too soon for me. Now that it is okay for me to go into maintenance, I am scared to death of gaining any back. I hope it settles out and I weigh between 130 and 135 for the rest of my life.. I never want to see a number above 135. I am having plastic surgery for my loose skin in November. I am having a lower body lift, a thigh lift and an arm lift. I should lose about another 5 or 6 pounds when the swelling subsides from that. I am hoping after that, to have the best body I can have and not ever weigh over 130... I dont think I would be upset if it went over 130... just not over 135. So, in summary, I am hoping the final weight hangs between 125 and 130. I wear a size 4-6 right now depending on the type of pants and a small shirt.. some xtra small. I would think I will be a solid 4 in everything, not just dress pants. I have one pair of jeans in a 4 that fit perfect. Otherwise in jeans, I wear a 6. In slacks and shorts, a size 4 and some 2's because of the way the slacks are made. I think I will turn out to wear a 4 in most things with the occasional 2 or 6, depending on how its made. Sooo happy to be back into my college size!!!!!!
  25. For all the new sleevers hang on and have hope. The first three weeks for me were the worst . It hurt to drink and to eat . I was depressed hit a stall last week that I still haven't came off of but it's ok. This weekend has been the best I've felt since surgery . I was able to have a selection of foods although in small amounts I had watermelon and seafood salad with crackers, I even ate a salad On a down note I am completly lactose intolerant but it's ok. O yeah I had one egg with provolone cheese and salsa and it was yummy . I hope this encourages someone who having a difficult time transitioning By the way I've lost 39 pounds in a month down 3 dress sizes ))
