Btw, congrats on your weight loss! -
I ate breakfast fine today. I had 1/2 a cup of oatmeal with whey. I made lunch and dinner and guess what I did?? I left it at home. I get to work and I have nothing healthy to eat so I go the whole day with just sipping water and chewing sf gum. I get off work and order a steak sope (its like a small round taco but not really a taco). I didnt eat the shelling because I am scared of stretching my band. SO I am taking small bites and chewing well. I was so hungry that I kept eating until I started getting a little pain my stomach. literally right below my boobs. I was amazed at the small amount of food that I consumed sent me over the edge. now I feel like i have a food baby. my band only has 1cc in it so idk what I did wrong. I wonder if that was a sign that i was close to being full or if it was a sign that i was full. it was my bad day at work that led to my stress and the fact thAT I DID NOT TAKE A BREAK TODAY. in other news i find it amazing that everyone is noticing my weight loss. My friend said it looked like i had lost 100 lbs when i really only lost about 66. that makes me happy and gives me the strenght to continue. I know i can do this. since I am still new to this and learning how to work with my band I take this day as a lesson. double check my purse for my lunch. lol or always keep a protein shake in my purse.

I am 9 months post-op and down approximately 80 pounds. I find this process very interesting as it gets harder and harder to lose the weight the further out you go. I am very frustrated as it feels like I have been stuck at this 80 pound point FOREVER! I just can't seem to get the scale to move along. Worst of all, is that I have learned to "play the game." I have now realized that you can only eat a small portion in a sitting but you can graze all day if you want to. Now, I get the point that this is counterproductive but tell that to the "fat girl" hiding inside who desperately wants to eat! Any advice how to move past this slump I am in and get the weight loss rolling along again?? I refuse to be the one person who loses only 80 pounds and can't overcome the demons and gains the weight back....

I got sleeved on the 5th May, weighed in at 109.5KG pre the preop diet, now I weigh 92.9 so nearly 17 kilograms lost in around 40 days! I'm sooooo sooo happy about the weight loss though it has slowed down a bit the past few days, I'm still losing which is great. The only downside really is the food, I keep getting bad reactions when I try things out, I'm worried I'll be on soups forever at this rate!

Helloah!! I've been looking into Green Tea and its benefits... Obviously, when I read that it has weight loss 'benefits' I became suddenly interested *shock horror* ... yea, I am at that stage where I will do anything to get to goal *sighs*!! Well, I've bought some and I am drinking a cup or two daily ... only been a few days... and I am slowly beginning to enjoy it! So, I was just wondering if anyone has had experience of these 'benefits'... good or bad... and how many cups a day is good??

Suggestions for a VSG book
JerseyGirl68 replied to alene's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I looked at some cookbooks specific to weight loss surgery, but honestly found my greatest inspiration comes from two websites theworldaccordingtoeggface.com and emilybites.com Both are great resources for all stages of your diet, easy to make receipes and very yummy. Check out the Recipe forum on this site also. Best of luck to you!! -
Is it at the very bottom tip of your sternum? If so, maybe it's your xyphoid process. And maybe it's just easier to feel with some weight loss. Just a thought. But maybe, just check with your doc to be sure.

I was sleeved aug 28th 2012. I am down from 240 to 157. I am so discouraged because I'm not at goal. I bust my ass at the gym. I don't eat 100% perfect but i am still so restricted I can only eat a bite or 2. I stay away from pasta and rice. I eat dairy, meat and protein shakes for the most part. My np said I'm crazy that I'm right on track but the hell I am. I am 5'1" and still have a big belly! I don't get why it won't come off! I swear since I had my gallbladder out last march my body won't give up this fat! I want to have a tummy tuck and a boob job this winter because I start school in the summer but can't till I get to goal! I thought with the weight loss I would feel better about my self but I feel life a failure! I hate hearing everyone say how skinny I am because I'm really not! I don't know what to do I feel so helpless

I am 56 days out from my sleeve and I’ve been doing really well. In addition to the 59 pounds I’ve lost (before and after surgery), I seem to be losing my arm hair (good) and eyebrows (not good). Did anyone else have this happen? Did they grow back? Should I add eyebrow tattoos to my list of post surgery cosmetic procedures? My head hair has been thinning for some time and I was expecting to lose that, but I haven’t noticed that yet. Thanks! SW 255 Sx 234 Current 196 Goal 150

75 days post op
Ana Gram replied to Sarah Waring2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am experiencing something similar down 40 lbs since surgery 78 days ago, and have been stuck for about the last 10 days with only a 2 lb loss in that time. Very frustrating, apparently not uncommon. I am going to try adding exercise and work at getting in more Water. Good luck! -
11 days with my band. I have not yet started eating foods yet. I can start on Friday. I spend so much time on the forum trying to find people who have had a successful weight loss journey with the band. Its so hard to get myself motivated when there are people who try so hard to only loose 30lbs in a year. I know that losing 30lbs is fantastic, but i want to loose 100lbs in a years time. I am young, 27. My father set up this surgery for me and paid for it 100% :Banane37:, no insurance, and the last thing I want to do is disappoint him. I am so worried that i will mess this up. I have like ZERO willpower. :cheatfree: I live with my boyfriend who is a complete saint. he is trying to help me come up with meal plans and he walks with me everyday. Its like I just cannot picture myself ever losing this fat. I have been fat me entire life, exceot for a year when I was 14. Ever since then I have fat. When I started this I weighed in at 262. As of today i weigh 252. I have been on the liquid diet for a little over two weeks. So I know the weight I have lost is because i am not eating. What happens when i start eating again? I will gain all of that weight back? I am not afraid of exercise. I am not lazy. There is a nice gym here at my complex and I dont mind going on the treadmill for an hour. Another thing i am worried about is the period of time in between my first fill. My fill is scheduled for Feb 27th. Thats a month away. It is exactly 6 weeks from my surgery date. Most people say that they are able to eat whatever they want and they go back to eating how they were before the band. That is smoething I am afraid of. before the band I was constantly eating. ALL THE TIME. One of the hardest things I am going to have to learn is 3 meals a day, NO SNACKING. But when I am hungry, I am physically in pain. So I eat. I know I can do this, I just wish I could get rid of all my fears and worries. :cheatfree:

Progress Report
Nursedeeva replied to MyLifeNewChoice's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats I was banded on 2/16 and my first post op visit is Monday. I am feeling pretty good. No major side effects except lost of appetite except severe loss of appetite. It is a real chore to get my fluids down because my appetite is so gone. My doctors nurse was real funny when I call to tell them my appetite was gone and I did not feel like drinking anything. She said well be prepared to buy a cute wig when you hair falls out from not having your proteins. Can you believe after that it became easier to drink. Vanity is amazing at my age I am still emotionally attached to my hair. Go figure :-) -
I went out for one last day of freedom before I have to go back to teaching. I celebrated my summer weight loss (32 lbs) with a spa manicure/pedicure and then to lunch with my friend. We picked Red Lobster. I've been eating alot of shrimp at home so I felt that was a good choice. Of course the killer garlic biscuits came out (I'm five weeks postop) and smelled so good. I thought of how terrible it would make me feel. I took one morsel off and tried it, while good, I thought it wasn't worth the risk and sat it off to the side. That would be taken home for my family to enjoy. I ordered the "Quick Catch Lunch- Garlic Shrimp Scampi and Wood Grilled Chicken". I ate the scampi, boxed up the potato (said I didn't want the rice/couldve got broccoli too) , chicken, and some biscuits. I packed an insulated lunch box in advance knowing I'd have left overs (we shopped all day). I was full and felt good. When I got home to track on myfitnesspal.com I saw that that meal had 41 grams of Protein and 332 calories. I ate some of the chicken for supper so I thought that was a good protein choice. On a side note, my friend's side ceaser salad didn't come out before her meal so the server offered it to go for her. It looked quite cute in it's container. So that might be an option for the next time if I get a dinner instead of just lunch. At six weeks my doctor told me that I could add in small amounts of lettuce. I think that means a piece of a sandwich. Any way....good lunch option I thought.

I went my hair appointment today. Haven't seen my stylist since before I started my journey. As soon as I walked in she was blown away with how much better I looked and even invited me to a work towards a color run with her in march and a mud run in may! It really made my day for someone that I don't see every day to acknowledge the difference....including my preop dieting I have lost 40 pounds since the last time I saw her and since surgery 12/2- I'm down another 22 lbs....I'm so happy....tell me a story of when some one lifted you up like this I'd love to hear!

what was your longest stall?
LuminousLife replied to LuminousLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are the exact same weight loss, stall and surgery date Lol. I cut out all artificial sweetners. I add a little agave nectar to coffee or drizzled on my oatmeal if I need it. I have no sugar issues though. -
I went to a support group meeting this week. It was my first one. They gave out a FITbook. a twelve week game plan for weight loss. it is tracking your progress. I think it might be beneficial. I have had good luck since my sleeve, I have not been sick or thrown up. I heard some really bad issue people have had since surgery. I hope I don't gain any weight since, I don't seem to be afraid of eating. What makes a good support group?

I also found since being banded and losing weight (and extra skin) I also REALLY feel the cold... especially in my fingers and toes. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 160 lbs

Right after surgery I was freezing a lot. I would have a sweater on and be under my comforter and still be cold. I think it was my bodies way of dealing with he surgery and drastic weight loss. I still get really cold at certain times but it is more under control now that I am 7 weeks out. Good luck and stay bundled up.

I just learned today that Unicare HMO has approved me! Last week, they sent a letter asking for documentation of 5 years of morbid obesity (no problem...) plus 18 months of supervised diet. This last is a problem, as they'd told me that I needed 12. I sent them a list of my bmi's taken from my doctor's records showing a 40 pound gain in 8 years (boo!) with the particular weight loss strategy in use at the time, and my sleep study report showing severe sleep apnea. And today they called to say I'm approved! :clap2: :omg: :biggrin1: My surgery was originally scheduled for yesterday, so I'm not sure when they'll do it. The sleep apnea poses a new complication...But at least I'm on my way.

Hi everyone, Does anyone have BCBS HMO (Blue Advantage)? I am in the process of completing my pro-op testing and have to get referalls from my primary care physician for all the testing that my surgeon wants. It is very frustrating! I was scheduled for my cardiac clearance tomorrow. After wating almost a month for the appointment they called me today to reschedule. GRRRR. SO frustrating. I am rescheduled for nest week and I hope ther aren't any more delays. My question is if anyone else has this HMO how long was your insurance approval process? I have done the 8 months of required weight loss classes and it will be over a year since I began this journey before I even get a surgery date! I am frustrated but trying to take it one day at a time. I am afraid I will fall apart if I am denied after this long annoying process. Thanks for any advice/support! Cosmo95
