Yesterday December 11, 2019 Maintenance Mode: 57y; F; 5'4", 22mo PO RNY, 132lbs, 4/3 calorie macro cycling (this is one of 4 lean days/wk)+IF 16/8- B1-Protien lattes x 5 (PP 5oz) L-Plain Grk Yogurt + Cottage Cheese + Blueberries + Raspberries AS-Big Ass Ginormous Salad with HSF ham + WF Italian Dressing (ate this in 2 sittings) D-Caprese stack + salad + shrimp (ate this over 3 hours) BS-Longhorn cheddar smeared with French's Yellow Mustard + Cayenne with a Walnut Back. LOL. *snort* Daily Totals: 915 calories; 75g protein; 47g fat; 51g carbs; 13g fiber; 38g net carbs Big Ass Salad: Salad Totals: 166 cals; 8g protein; 9g fat; 14g carbs; 4g fiber; 10g net carbs. (I wasn't concerned about not having 1 g of protein for every 10 calories in this meal cuz I was already gonna be plenty high in the protein department from all the other meals during the day.) And I see I forgot arugula! BBIAF. Corrected!

Kick the can! I am still out of order on the list 😊 But I just got off he phone with my best friend in Iowa, that always brightens my day. I will be meeting with the family on the 28th at a cafe to have holiday time together. I don't like to buy flowers, they don't last so I got a new plant. Tomorrow I am planning a most excellent bath. Candles and lavender bath salts. Forgot I had dessert last night. Fit and Lite strawberry yogurt with 2 T sugar free whipped cream mixed in so yummy!

I am presently using organic soy milk, as it has a lot more protein than almond or cashew milk. Soy products (milk, yogurt, tofu, tempeh) do not seem to bother me. Which plant based protein powders have you found to be palatable in smoothies and yogurt? I've tried several, but all have stevia. OWYN brand has cane sugar, but seems to be the most pure of all of them, but I haven't tried it yet.

Hey Nate, sorry you feel like you've failed WLS. I think that's the deep dark dirty fear we all have and it's also a lie we tell ourselves. The only way to fail is to totally check out and not try any longer. But I don't see that in your intention! I agree that if you are still depressed, you should run not walk to your psych and or doc and ask to have your meds adjusted to either another dose or to a different combination. Some other things that help: Exercise (walking), especially in sunlight and fresh air/green areas. And if you can walk fast until you feel pooped even better, but you may not have the strength for that, so work with your doc. Practice deep breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. Pray or meditate. Google four square breathing. Really great stuff. Watch comedies and laugh out loud. Smile at yourself in the mirror and envision you dressed in a Super Hero outfit. Find someone you love and hug them tightly, rocking, for a long time. Or hug your pet! Then clean out your pantry, fridge, and freezer. Clean out the booze closet too. Begin planning, tracking, weighing, measuring your food. Here are your rules to start: 3 meals + 2-3 small snacks (no more than 100cals each and low carb high protein): Each meal = no more than 1 cup of food by volume = 2-3 oz of lean dense protein by weight + 1-2 oz of al dente steamed dense veggies + 1 tsp healthy fat equivalent: olive oil, ghee, butter, avocado oil, coconut oil or 1oz avocado. Snack Ideas: Hard boiled egg 1oz Boar's Head Turkey or Everroast Chicken 1oz Leftover Dense protein 1oz reduced fat cheese + 1/4oz almonds 2oz Granny Smith apple + 1/4oz almonds + 1 lite string cheese 4oz Greek Non Fat Yogurt + 1oz blueberries 1 Jello sugar free cup + 1/4c Plain Greek Yogurt + 2-3 drops liquid vanilla stevia 1 sugar free popsicle 1cup raw veggies + 1/4c Plain Greek Yogurt + 1/2tsp Ranch Dressing Mix or Lipton Onion Soup Mix You should come take my poll here: -
Yesterday, Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 Maintenance: 57y / F / 5'4" / 22mo PO RNY / 132.2lbs Yesterday was an IF day for me and I actually did an OMAD thing at 20 hours. Then had a date to celebrate real live boots fitting over my calves with Mr. F. So we did our usual cheap Italian restaurant date night. And I did wine with it. I too have a 2 glass limit or it isn't pretty and very def. NOT classy. I can have more later, but it has to be over a 4-6 hour time frame well after the wine is gone. B-4 Protein Lattes (4oz PP over 4 hour period) L-nada D-1/4 Italian sausage & marinara appetizer 1 small dinner salad with cucumber and carrots and mixed greens + 1tbsp blue cheese dressing 1.5 oz grilled shrimp + 2oz grilled chicken + 3oz roasted broccoli with garlic 2 glass cabernet BS-2% cottage cheese + Greek yogurt plain + frozen blueberries + liquid stevia Daily Totals: 882 cals; 63g protein; 33g carbs; 7g fiber; 26g net carbs

@Bastian I'm 3 months(August 27th) out & only can get in between 350-500 calories a day. I can barely complete a meal & it still takes me 30-40 minutes to eat a 5.3oz yogurt. My dietitian told me that this calorie amount is fine but try to get in as much protein dense foods as possible & keep my liquid intake close to or at 64 ozs. When I get full - STOP EATING! She said this is the crucial stage for my new pouch & over eating is not good therefore trying to get in 800-900 calories is not the goal she wants for me right now. So I am listening to my body, eating high quality protein meals and getting in the water. Start Weight(SW) - 215 Surgery Weight(SW) - 198 Current Weight(CW) - 165 Goal Weight(GW) - 145 -

You have to retrain your tum just as someone said, like an infant. So you can't easily go from liquids (yogurt is considered a liquid in my program) to dense solids without issues. Use meat lube (broths, gravy, braising liquid, and sauces) to lubricate your bites. Make EACH bite the size of a pencil eraser. Chew to kingdom come. Add a little lube. And swallow. Then wait a minute or two to see how it settles and repeat the next bite. If you feel discomfort, stop. My progression was: Foil wrapped fish (white fish litely poached in broth and seasoning in foil). tuna and salmon mixed with tons of Greek yogurt and dijon mustard, hb egg, and 2% cottage cheese and blended until almost smooth. It was VERY wet and loose. soft scrambled eggs mixed with Greek yogurt of light sour cream to make them very loose and creamy. soft boiled eggs with butter. over easy fried eggs. egg white puffs (my fave!!) sugar free and savory egg custards. roasted smashed cauliflower (like mashed potatoes but low carb). refried pumpkin soups/stewps/chili made with turkey chicken (canned) green bean casserole made baristyle chicken pot pie casserole (no crust) made baristyle lasagna bake no pasta made baristyle and then I progressed to things like salmon, ground meats, then chicken, pork, beef dense and lean. I could not do burgers for months--way too dense and heavy feeling and too much fat. -

Thankfully naseua is about the one thing I haven't had since surgery yesterday. Been fighting a fever since I was discharged. Also have incision pain and quite a bit of gas pain. While in the hospital I had some skim milk, tomato soup, beef broth, cream of wheat, low sugar vanilla yogurt and of course water. It's been a struggle trying to figure out how much I can eat at once, how quickly/slowly to eat, etc. Most of the meals I stretched over hours and didn't end up finishing before they took them away. When I got home, I had a Premier protein shake over the course of about five hours, then sipped on some Gatorade Zero, although I only managed a few ounces over the course of the evening. Right now I'm slowly trying some grits before I have my night time medicines crushed up! -

I no longer know what to eat, since I've found I can eat a little bit of almost anything. And guidance from my program has dropped off a lot. Every day, I've been eating some variation of: Sous Vide Egg Bites from Starbucks A Medium Iced Coffee with milk and splenda Salad with grilled chicken and Italian dressing (about half) 2-3 low-moisture part-skim mozzarella string cheese sticks 1-2 low-fat greek yogurts If I put away too many of the very-easy-to-digest yogurts and string cheese, I can easily hit 1000 calories, which worries me. -
That will definitely be the challenge. I went on a strenuous hike Saturday - lost of steep terrain, both up and down, 4 1/2 hours, approximately 1800 cal burned. I am starting to hike/train for a rim-to-rim in one day Grand Canyon hike (24 miles) that is 1 mile down and then 1 mile up. The training hikes alone will burn so many thousands of calories, I can't imagine eating enough, so I think for me, I will have 500 cal days, 1200 cal days, and then 2000-2500 cal days (hiking days). I hope the book will help give some tips for this. I think I will also end up on an elimination diet for a while if this EE comes back positive. (No wheat, soy, dairy, eggs, fish/shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts). Then add 1 at a time back. Only the soy, peanuts, and tree nuts will be hard, as I have already eliminated the others, for the most part. Salad, soup, seeds, grains, and veggies, with pea protein powder. Yum Yum. Do-able. I found oat milk yogurt the other day that is pretty good! Never knew it existed, and amazingly, more fiber, less carbs, and just as much protein as soy yogurt, with live cultures! Who knew?

Well, I started out fasting, but had so much pain and nausea on an empty stomach that I had to eat. This has been a problem for the past couple of months. Had my endo today and turns out I have an ulcer!!!! That explains the symptoms, but sure is discouraging as I have been doing everything possible to avoid an ulcer. So PPI meds for for 3 months. Doc also wants a swallow study and ultrasound of my gall bladder. No sign of Barretts (!!!!) and no polyps (!!!!) but looks like maybe eosinophilic esophagitis (EE), as well as the ulcer. I will know when biopsy comes back. Doc said the EE could be from whey/lactose, causing an allergic reaction in the esophagus. I have noticed increasing discomfort (gas, bloating) with dairy, so I am unofficially lactose intolerant at this point, although I have been trying to finish up my whey based protein powder. I have been using soy products (milk, yogurt, tofu, tempeh) instead of dairy, but this can possibly also aggravate EE. So with no gluten, no dairy, low fat, low carb, and possibly no soy, I guess that leaves me with salad and beans. I sure am glad I am building my new life around things other than food! I also set up an appointment with a medical doctor who specializes in holistic, nutritional/lifestyle health. He promotes whole food plant based eating and exercise, both of which I am trying to incorporate into my lifestyle. After I get my 1 year labs back, and get all the bari tests done, I will see him and try to build a healthy and nutritionally sound plan that will support my exercise goals and prevent any nutritional deficiencies.

Things like yogurt, eggs, cottage cheese, ground meat and creamed soups are on my plan. I would think twice about oatmeal since that is a high carb food best saved for maintenance imho.

ty Jenny. I had my gall bladder out in Feb and that didn't cause me to lose hair. I was more worried about my diet being deficient in some way. I was back at work in 8 days afterwards and healed up fine after that, but was not limited in what I could eat. I was sore that first week, and terrified to eat my normal greasy bad food diet due to all the horror stories people told me about how my body would be different when I was missing my GB and such. After about a week of eating soup, applesauce, oatmeal and yogurt and taking it easy on my system I wanted some real food and went and got a nice greasy burger and fries and ate it just to see what I could handle (or not). Turns out having my GB removed cured my lifetime constipation problem and made me normal. I was still able to eat anything I wanted without it "running right through me" like I was warned about.

Thanks everyone. Got home about 12 hours ago. Was very tired, weak, and gassy but slowly getting better. Few things I noticed. Also keep in mind that my surgeon actually moves you to the purred/Soft food diet the day after surgery. I know not a lot do that but for some reason he does. Two friends of mine also used the same surgeon and same thing happened. 1. Yesterday I only took in about 450 calories. Did have some ground chicken with low-fat ricotta cheese which was well tolerated but only about 1 oz total. Had about 50 grams of protein. Doc wants me at 90 per day. plan today is to incorporate premier shakes 2x a day at 30 grams per serving. In reality I know I may only be able to have 1/2 and then another 1/2 later. Not pushing it. 1 scrambled egg for breakfast, a no fat yogurt for lunch, and the chick for dinner. 2. How long does it take for the tiredness and weakness to get better? Seriously the past 48 hours since surgery I think I slept like 30-40 hours lol 3. Gas-x has also been a miracle for me.

Foods like yogurt are pretty slippery and soft, so you usually don't feel the restriction or satiety with them that you do with something more solid like meat or cheese, so it is quite normal that you can eat more yogurt than the nominal 2-3 ounces that is often stated. I could likewise go through a normal 5-6 oz yogurt serving at that time, though I usually just kept it to 4 oz as that was adequately satisfying for me, and provided enough protein for that particular meal/snack (though by that time I was also throwing in a few berries for added nutrition and variety.) -
To feel full/satisfied. I’ve been packing my lunch and one item I pack us a Greek yogurt I’ve been eating for breakfast (soft phase). I’m 8 weeks past surgery and my doc said I should eat 2-3 oz , 4 times a day. But that leaves me hungry. Today after eating my yogurt I realized it’s 5.4 oz. that seems to be the amount of food that gets me satisfied. I don’t want to start this lifestyle on the wrong foot. How many ounces you guys eating at 8 weeks? THANK U

Honestly? Embrace boring. Embrace eating simply and very small. Encourage food apathy where you just barely eat to fill the small real estate you have. Get busy learning new things! Pick a hobby. Add a creative activity. This is the time when it's SUPPOSED to be boring and routine and easy. You want to ideally kinda break up with your fixation for food and for truly slap-your-mama appealing cuisine. I quit the Food Netwook, Food Channel, commercials, cooking mags, cook books, etc until I was well into my routine and new life. I went from full liquids to mushies (fork tender and chew to puree) skipping puree state but I ate: yogurt cottage cheese canned chicken and chicken gravy (low cal, low carb, low fat) roasted smashed cauli with chicken gravy (low cal, low carb, low fat) turkey lunch meat (Hillshire Farms) tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad whizzed until chopped very fine and very wet with Greek yogurt and Dijon mustard sf jello sf popsicles pumpkin puree "refried" in a tiny bit of ghee for flavor protein pudding protein drinks homemade bone broth defatted cream soups with protein added to it green smoothies made with high protein milk, protein powder, frozen spinach, frozen blueberries, greek yogurt mocha and peppermint frappacinos made with protein powder, decaff coffee, ice, sf torani peppermint and chocolate syrups And the time passed so quickly... -
Here is mine every day 1. Premier Protein Vanilla about 3/4 in a Nutra Blend Top 2 One scoop of GNC 50 plus vitamin powder 2. Two packs of Stevi Sweetner 3. a Scoop of ice 5. Flavor - 5 bluebeerys, Dry peanut Butter, Strawberry or peach just a little 7. One Heaping Tablespoon of Greek Yogurt - Tastes like a smoothie and goes down easy and loaded with Vitamins and Minerals -

Hey guys! So I finished the phase of full liquid and am now in the pureed protein phase. Looking for some recipe/food ideas. I’m basically still just having protein drinks, yogurt, soup and hummus. It’s just kinda boring lol. Thanks for the help!:)

Do you make smoothies? This was my breakfast for a long time around 8 weeks. A yummy recipe that is full of protein and nutrients: 1 cup milk (I use soy, but your choice. Would not recommend almond milk cuz lower in protein) 1 heaping tablespoon plain Greek yogurt Several green leaves from kale or spinach (you can also use frozen spinach leaves) 1 scoop protein powder 1/4 - 1/2 c. mixed frozen berries (or fresh) 1/4 banana Some slices of fresh ginger if you like. Whir it up in blender or Ninja or Magic Bullet. -

Hi Dee, One month out and its hard to navigate your new food world. It will get better with real food stage. Practice becomes habit. Hang in there. Some suggestions and things to think about. Make sure the options any of us give you fit your plan and food stage: Read the back of food labels. log your food in an app and stay within your weight loss calories/macros Most instructions are to eliminate real sugar. For many of us, when you consume real sugar, processed food, and extra carbs you crave them more (they cause hunger) detox off them and buy healthy options for sweet and salty. (get temptation out of the house) Dannon lite and fit Greek yogurt Small amount of fresh fruit. Strawberries dipped in sugar free chocolate syrup. Sugar free protein products are a good solution. (more bang for your buck) Just because it’s a sugar free product. It does not mean its calorie and carbohydrate free. Not all protein bars/shakes/cookies etc. are created equal. Some are glorified candy bars. Read food label’s. I personally like quest bars because of the calories/macros. Sugar free candy has sugar alcohols. Test them on your new stomach. They can cause you to dump. Protein powder added to sugar free pudding -
Well I notice it alot when trying to eat some boneless skinless sardines to get the Omega fatty acids and protein, happens with cooked spinach, soft protein bar, chilli, flounder... pretty much anything that's not liquid or yogurt unfortunately..you may be right maybe I need to go back to all liquid for a few days Sent from my REVVLRY using BariatricPal mobile app
