Attention scale users! A new challenge.
Kindle replied to Kindle's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Being 16 months out, I thought it might be tough to come up with an NSV every week. Thought I might have to document some of my older ones. But last night I had one after all. Went to a friends house and after dinner his son wanted some batting practice. So my friend pitched and I played outfield....THE WHOLE OUTFIELD! Running back and forth catching fly balls and scooping up grounders. No problem...Agile as a cat! -
@@clasnic1 Sounds like your levels are right where they should be for a person who is not diabetic and really good for someone who is a diabetic. If you're no longer on any medication and you're maintaining in the 80-120 range, that's an NSV for sure!

Miss Mac replied to Stephanie Salsera Perrott's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Stephanie, you sure do have a lot of hampsters running around in your brain! I was going to say exactly what AvaFern just said. What if you go up to the search box and type in NSV? You will find posts on all of the amazing changes that others have experienced only because they went through with their surgeries. You will start noticing pleasant differences about the time you lose the first 30 pounds. -
@@mysleeve that is wonderful people often post their happiness/success seems these posts sometimes get lost in the shuffle its more memorable to remember the bad things that might happen PO so............... congrats on your success this is one of many NSV's coming up wishes/thoughts that your happiness today, will continue through tomorrow, next day, and forever you are now on the road to a healthier, happier, longer life who deserves it more? good luck kathy

By the way @@shugal, your starting BMI was about the same as mine. I'm betting you meet your weight goal but more important, make sure you track all those NSVs. They are way more satisfying than tracking numbers.

Been banded over 4 years, lost all my weight a while back...so I don't get NSV';s that often anymore.... But Saturday Night was a big one! First, I graduated HS in 1970....I weighed 165, played football, ran track, etc. There is a class mate, who has become a very popular comedian, tours all over the world, TV, Movies...etc. (I'm not going to mention his name) Well the word went out through face book, that he would be the headline act at "Catch a Rising Star" here in New Jersey....and people from the Class of 70 were being contacted to attend...sort of a mini reunion....which a good number of us did. To get to the point, people I have not seen in over 40 years were there....of course everyone was thrilled to see each other. Lots of Love going around!.....and everyone could not get over how I have not changed one bit...I am still the same weight, and I am still in tip-top shape as I was in High School! People said I have obviously done pretty good for myself. The joke was, where everyone is getting older...I am gong in the opposite direction! IF THEY ONLY KNEW!!!! It's been over 40 years and they do not know I was once morbidly obese, was once a diabetic, have cardiac issues, along with a long list of other things. And as a last resort, I had to undergo Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery...and only then did I turn my life around....but they don't know, and that's just fine with me....just let it ride. I was walking on air all night, and it was not just the alcohol we were consuming! (of course we partied!) Stuff like his makes it all worth it....best decision I ever made!

October 2014 sleevers check in please!
VSGmary replied to Jen - a work in progress's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm officially 6 months out today and I'm 110 lbs down (50kg). I am exactly half way there to my goal of 165lbs. Going by my surgeons goal I have 50 lbs to go so this is my short term goal. I celebrated Easter yesterday at my parents home. Dad had a lamb gyros cooking on the spit and i can honestly say this has been the only time i have ever craved meat! I haven't been able to eat meat with what feels like ages. I recently was able to eat meat in Jerky form since being sleeved, and i was ok with that. Well i bit the bullet and tried a tiny piece of lamb with no fat on it. It went down, no feeling of wanting to hurl! This was one great NSV for me. I ended up having 3 more tiny tiny pieces of red meat throughout the day, just enough for the taste! Hehe. I kept to my Pescetarian type diet that i have had to adopt since being sleeved. I am now wondering if i can eat chicken or even have some milk. I have the courage to try these out again and i plan on doing it today! ????. I recently found a delicious high Protein low calorie meal which i posted on the food sharing forums the other day here : http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/336932-easy-shrimp-quinoa-bowl/ And i would love to swap out the shrimp for some chicken! Mmm mmm mmm! -
Scared I'm not going to lose weight....2 weeks post op
Kindle replied to Goldy6575's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure where you got your expectations from, but if 5 pounds/week is disappointing then they were very unrealistic. At two weeks out I maybe lost about 3 pounds. (I don't know for sure because I only weighed at the doctors office the first 4 months) I do remember I was 17 pounds down at the 2 month mark. But that didn't stop me from hitting then passing my goal weight. Measure your success with NSVs, stick with your program, learn how to eat healthy, and STAY OFF THE SCALE. I promise you will be a hell of a lot happier. -
Hello, I am new here and relatively new to being sleeved, which I had done on 7/28/14. My highest weight was pushing almost 380 pounds. I was hovering between 350-360 pounds for many years. I was turning 50 years old (actually "young" ) last year and wanted to take hold of my weight issues, which I struggled with for a good portion of my life. I was tired of feeling weak, having low stamina, low self-esteem and wanted to no longer have type-2 diabetes (~2+ years), sleep apnea, higher BP, higher cholesterol and low-T. Most of all, I was worried about something happening to me and not being there to support my family and leave my children without a father; the only thing worse would be having a debilitating disease due to my morbid obesity and becoming a burden to them. From the end of February last year, I started dieting leading up to my surgery. My total weight loss pre/post surgery is ~115 pounds. I no longer have type-2 diabetes (my glucose numbers are normal, my A1C was in the upper 4's for the last 3 readings), my sleep apnea is greatly diminished, my BP is normal, my testosterone levels are "very good for a 50 year old man" (per my endocrinologist), my cholesterol numbers are normal, I have much more energy, greatly improved self-esteem (I don't mind pictures taken of me anymore) and more NSVs than I can shake a stick at. My only regret is not having this surgery a few years back, everything after the surgery has been positive. I am looking forward to this longer, healthier and better quality life I am giving myself. So if you are reading this and contemplating having the surgery, research about it as much as you can, make sure you are prepared to make this lifestyle commitment and, like the Nike ad states, "Just Do It". Your life will improve too. Have a great Day.

Hi - my best NSV so far -- was feeling very fit at the gym, so afterwards decided to pop in to Dress Barn to see if I was down a pants size. YES I WAS! Now wearing size 10 petite! I cried in the fitting room. Arrived at the hospital last August in size 22 pants. Never, in my entire teenage or adult life have I been a 10. Someone at work asked me when I was going to stop losing. I told her when I no longer cast a shadow!

I bet you will love shopping the closer you get to goal weight. I've always hated lingerie shopping because my boobs were always kind of floppy whenever I was thin and I have never looked good in underwear. I saw these sexy thongs and even cute little boy short undies, and I'd buy them and put them on, and be like, umm why does my butt not look like the picture?! I had several plastic surgeries, so I guess I cheated a bit, but for the first time in my life I can wear actual cute lingerie, look in the mirror, and not feel ridiculous. So..I can very much appreciate how excited you are. Also, I have the problem with running shoes...how you find the perfect fit or style of something and then they change it. I have been using the same style of Mizuno's for several years and they discontinued them. That is my current problem in that category, lol. Congrats on your NSV!

PEOPLE ARE NOTICING AND I BOUGHT SZ 18 PANTS TODAY
CanyonBaby replied to downsizingdiva's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can relate (I guess we ALL can!!!), today I went to the Harley-Davidson dealership just to see what was new in motorclothes. I tried on this jacket in the sale section, it was a 2x. Last summer there would be no way it would fit, it would've been too small. Today I could wrap the darn thing AROUND me!!!!! The salesgirl couldn't figure out why I was laughing to the point of tears! Normally I would have loved finding a pink leather jacket in my size, today I was laughing because there WEREN'T any in MY size, a large! NSV of a different sort! -
NSV - this may sound odd, but I was just able to touch my tongue to my knee for the first time in ages!

I am working so hard to try to lose 100lbs by my 6 month check up that while I was talking with my mom yesterday I realized that from my heaviest weight I have ever seen on a scale (329) which was probably about 3 months before my supervised 6 month diet I am DOWN 101lbs!!! This made me pretty happy, I am still plugging along and doing good but it's so funny how something just hits you! I really love this Ah-Ha moments. Also at work yesterday I went into the break room for lunch and put my stuff down on a table and went to sit down. I noticed that where I was there was a chair with arms instead of one with no arms. Normally I would of switched the chairs around, but I looked at that chair and I sat down in it and had plenty of room. LOVE LOVE LOVE that!!! I still giggle out loud every single time I slide into a booth and fit just fine. My family thinks it's cute!! LOL Hope this post finds you all having a great day!!!

So we had to return a piece of 4 x 8 sheer of breadboard to Menards today. My husband said lean against this board it was against the side if our enclosed trailer. So I did. The wind caught the board lifted me off the ground and threw me back to the ground. Scraping my hand and my knee. THAT WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED AT ALMOST THREE HUNDRED POUNDS! But at the same time it made me feel good at 5'9 and 139 pounds that the wind blew me away. Lol. So when people tell me the wind will blow you away. I know now it literally can. A big NSV I could have done without.

I loved your NSV! I cant wait to lose this weight and go back to Las Vegas and feel like a million bucks! I went for my 21 bday and while I had fun I was so uncomfortable with my weight and my body, all I could see was all the gorgeous women all alround me and it just made me want to hide. I'm hoping that after my procedure I will be able to go back there and feel like a proud confident woman who finally feels comfortable in her own body! Thanks for sharing, you gave me tons of hope for the future! -

I'm reading these NSVs and I'm like yep I've experienced that one and that one and I've enjoyed everyone I have had.... But as I was reading I realized its 930 pm and I'm still dressed and I have been dressed all day in my bra and everything . This is a NSV because before losing 146 lbs I could not stand to be dressed. If I was at home I was in my lounge clothes and no bra. Wearing a bra was the devil... Uncomfortable and I hated it so to be dressed all day when I haven't even left the house is a huge NSV for me!!!!!
