Almost a week post-op, just now experiencing nausea
GinaSq replied to girlonfire89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and started feeling nausea and vomiting about 4-5 days ago. Has been constant if I try to eat anything (yogurt, Water, tea, etc) Not from over-eating since it usually occurs after one or two small sips or bites. -
I had this too big time. I tried a bit of liquid yogurt and it cleared right up. I was about a day or 1 1/2 days early starting full liquids. Always good to check with your own doc.

It's not a traditional blade. Not sharp at all. It can juice, mince, smoothies and frozen yogurt! I have even made rice flour using black rice. It's very powerful. I juice veggies all the time, no pulp.

i can eat anything, but my hubby is diabetic and does most of the cooking so 99% of whats in our house is diabetic friendly, and he doesnt care for sweets like i do. so......almost anything from a diabetic cookbook is healthy, they have recipies for pizza, tacos, hamburgers , also side dishes, breads and desserts. we make a diabetic friendly thick spagetti meat sauce and use it over whole wheat pasta or by itself. yummy ! we eat lots of baked fish, brown rice and salads too. also try the book called "Fix it and forget it diabetic cookbook" for the crockpot or the others in the series . great recipies ! try frozen yogurt or weight watchers ice cream for the sweet tooth . good luck !

When did you guys go on Phase 2 purees/mushy and what did you eat?
MrsRoboto replied to zelgal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go on Pinterest and look up Bariatric puree recipes. Tons of ideas! I get to switch to purées on Tuesday (2 weeks out) and I can't wait. I'm gagging down shakes right now. I have yummy things planned. Scrambled eggs with feta. Chili. Refried Beans with chicken, cheese, and sour cream. Ricotta bake. Ground beef and ricotta in marinara. Tuna with mayo and pickles (no peel). I see so many people complaining about being sick of Soups and yogurt. Think outside the box, people! -
HELP!!! Revision - Sleeve to MGB
cocoduan posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi all, Im 37 and injust got my MGB revision 20 days ago. I was sleeved 10 years ago and never reached my goal weight. After babies and hormonal BC i gained a lot back. I feel surprised now tho. I feel i havent loose much these days. I just started Phase 3 and where i live (Middle east) is very hard to find sugar free, fat free products and im wondering if is the greek yogurt (flavored) and the protein drink the ones that arent helping. Both say they dont have added sugar but have sugars at the end. Also i dont feel there is really a restriction in my stomach. Im still hungry, i can eat half cup of food, i can drink a whole glass of water with no issues... such a different experience than the sleeve. Im scared of failure. Im passing very light yellow stools i dont know why and is so painful. Sometimes i wonder if there was a surgery after all. Any ideas of why this weight loss is so slow? -
I have Greek yogurt, mashed potatoes, chicken soup and I found this amazing black bean hummus so I mix it with roccotta and chicken. And protein shakes I feel like it's not enough.

first day transition from liquid to mushies
pnw218 replied to cwalker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The premade shakes worked best for me to insure the Protein. I used Atkins, Nutrilife and Premier. The Premier has 30 protein compared to 15 for the other two. I liked the chocolate flavor in all three. They are 11 oz and it would take me about 2 hours to drink it. In the beginning, I sometimes had two of those a day. I filled it around that with potato Soup, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, yogurt, SF chocolate pudding (LOL). I was fortunate that I was able to go from clears to full to mushy by the end of the first week, and felt great. Be cautious, use common sense and do what makes your stomach and you feel the best. Good Luck!! -
The dreaded "in-between" stage in clothing sizes - HELP!
nursmate2 replied to Christina T.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Eclectick I could not drink the shakes post-op but my NUT kept after me to do so. I have tried and returned several in the past 3 months. I have finally found PE Science Snickerdoodle..OMG...so good, I could eat it by the scoop. I mix it with 12 OZ of fair life milk for a glorious 44 grams of Protein. I eat lunch that consist of a lean protein and a veggies...a nectar shake-fuzzy naval at the gym and then a small dinner usually cottage cheese, protein and veggie or yogurt. I usually end up at about 90 grams of protein and 500-600 calories. Put you Vitamins in a med box and carry them in your bag..set an alarm on your phone and take them. Always have a bottle or glass of Water with you and drink...This is the hardest thing I have every done and I have struggled but it's your life and your future. Take care of yourself. Be well! -

5-Days Out... so Many Changes!
klus263 replied to Cinderella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My diet is also restrictive, first day after surgery was only clear liquids. Then 14 days of liquid-protein drinks, yogurt, jello, low fat cream soups-strained. After 2 weeks I can move to mushies but no meat until week 4. then very gradually. My doctor's office has never had anyone with a leak with following this diet. I am looking forward to having some mashed potatoes but I am more than willing to wait for it. The thought of mushies scare me right now. I am just focusing on liquids and getting my proteins in. -
5-Days Out... so Many Changes!
Cinderella replied to Cinderella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW! That IS restrictive!!! In my program, they wouldn't even let you leave the hospital until you could tolerate mushies... oatmeal, to be exact. When you get home, for three weeks you eat mushies, which include pureed food... cottage cheese, oatmeal, Greek yogurt, soft boiled egg, pureed tuna salad OR chicken salad, anything mushy. However, they specify really TINY quantities... like 1/8-C pureed tuna salad and 1/4 Cup chicken broth is lunch. Liquids DO feel best, however... lol. Maybe I'll dial it back a bit and cleve to the power shakes for the rest of the week. Thanks for the good advice! -
ACK! I'm dying from hunger and it's only day 4!!
MuffinBirdie posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi All, Well there is definately a difference between my first band surgery and my revision. There is no fill in the band at all and I am STARVING. I've been on Clear liquids up until I had some tomato Soup this evening (same consistency at Slim Fast) and that finally took away the terrible hunger pains I was having. I mean, it was actual PAIN. And it's only been four days since the surgery. I am surprised I am so hungry even though I don't have any fill. Anyone else here had a revision have the same experience? The doctor did mention to me I didn't have to be on the clear liquid phase for as long as normal because I would be hungrier, but this is bad! Hopefully when I add yogurt to my diet tomorrow that will help some. Any thoughts? Mae -
Do you like Greek yogurt? That is a staple for me. I use it for at least one of my meals daily and it has lots of protein. I find eggs extremely filling. I couldn't eat them the first 6 months.

Help, 4 Days Out And Hungry! Voices Of Experience Needed Please!
jenni_867 replied to Believinginlisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep head hunger. Eat sf popsicles. It will help with your fluid intake, but yet you'll feel like you're eating something. BTW, i can't believe you can even eat anything other than clears! I know all doctors have different diets, but my tummy wouldn't even allow me to hardly try jello. If i would've tried greek yogurt, i know it wouldn't have stayed down. Don't force yourself to eat if you can't. Concentrate on your fluids right now. -
Has anyone used Dr. Jaime Ponce DeLeon
julielle replied to armywife77's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Basically it's just no caffeine one week before surgery, and yogurt only for the 3 days before surgery. Not much more to it than that. No laxatives, no 2 week shakes or anything. I guess Dr Ponce figures 3 days is enough to empty the glycogen reserves in the liver, it works for him. If it makes you feel better you can do low carb now until your 3 day yogurt phase. -

Thanks for sharing....I feel good about him...I just really dont see his name to much on here....did they give u post op meal ingo before u left. I only have pre op of 3 days water, yogurt. ..if u dont mind sharing. -
That is surprising. I am a week post surgery and I can have Protein drinks, milk, cream-based Soups, greek yogurt, sugar free Jello or popsicles and Water, water, water (can be mixed with crystal light). The Protein Drinks that I am drinking have 28 grams of protein each so I drink 2 a day and then have greek yogurt and Soup broth. I can't have food (chicken, fish pureed) until day 15. It's interesting to see the differences.

What was/is your Daily Caloric Intake while on pre-Op diet
HappyHomeCC replied to PalmBayTish72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a 1000 cal not to exceed 20grams of fat. I could have yogurt, cottage cheese and protein drinks, sugar free pudding and jello etc -
I feel you. I'm almost 4 months out and the past 2-3 weeks I've gotten so lazy with my tracking. I haven't gained anything but I do notice it's easier to eat more now. So I started today, back to basics. I've been chugging my Water today, eating my yogurts and getting in my Protein. I also went back to the gym. You can do it, just have to make up your mind to. Stop the grazing, schedule your eating. I'm doing 3 meals and 2 planned Snacks. I think that's pretty important, plan it so you avoid grazing. Make sure you are feeling real hunger too and not that damn head hunger crap. You can do it! I don't think you stretched anything out, test it by eating some meat first, no veggies or bread and I'm betting you can still only eat maybe 4-5 ounces and be full. Good luck!

Nutritionist was NO help at all
HealthyLifeStyle replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yogurt really bothers me, the cheese makes me more constipated. I can tolerate eating cottage cheese sometimes. Like I said, I am just going to have to figure it out on my own. She was absolutely no help whatsoever. -

I was told any non-caffeinated beverage counts toward the 64 oz of fluid requirement. And that includes protein shakes. I think some people who are lactose intolerant can handle cheese and yogurt - the fermentation and/or aging weakens the lactose - or something like that. Although I don't know if that's universally true. but other than that, yea - it sounds like she's not listening to you. I would have been mad, too -
Sounds like you are getting on track. Some of the foods that helped me at this stage included cottage cheese with no sugar added applesauce, light & fit Greek yogurt, ricotta bake (google World according to eggface for recipe), refried beans and guacamole. There are lots of options and like other posters have said advance planning at this stage is very helpful. Track your protein and water to know that you are getting in enough each day and you'll do great. :-)
