Thrush?!? Ughhh
thisisit replied to Jessiegurl2686's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soooo I just went to brush my teeth before i went to bed.... And I'm pretty sure I have thrush! I brushed my tounge for 10 min and its still thick and white ... Siiiick anyone eles had this happen post op!!! Hi Jessica and YES, YES, I do have thrush. I am 5 weeks post op and was diagnosed at my 2 week follows-up. Excepting that, I had been very fortunate with no other complications or complaints. So, dr put me on Fluconazole. Within hours after starting that I went into a 9 day HORRIBLE time with explosive diarrhea (sorry, TMI). The drs office didn't associate my diarrhea with the fluconazole but instead blamed it on the fact that I was just starting puréed foods AND had had c-diff with a previous surgery. I was then put on a RX for Flagyl (to treat c-diff). Finally after testing clear for c-diff, I still continued taking the Flagyl and Culturelle as well as finished up the RX for thrush. Finally after 9 horrible days of the diarrhea it cleared up and I was able to go back to work last week. Then just yesterday I went back to surgeon for 5 week check up. I STILL have the thrush. So, this time they put me on the fluconazole and also a liquid oral treatment called nystatin. So took my first pill and mouth rinse last night and OMG, the horrible diarrhea is back again. I obviously now think this is from that RX. called my drs office this am and nurse told me to stop taking the rx and I'm waiting to hear further instructions from them. I want to get rid of this thrush, BUT, not with this diarrhea again. And, my initial tongue symptoms wee same as yours. I would make them check it, but, I sure hope you have better reaction to the treatment. Yuck! Good luck and let me know what you find out. ???? -
Gallbladder removal: friend or foe?
brandnewbie replied to cyncitygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't speak to being gallbladderless post sleeve, but I can tell you that gallstones are much more painful than having it out. :-) It is a laproscopic procedure and recovery is pretty minimal compared to other things. Once it is gone if you do eat less than innocently your body might rebel a lil, which can be a good thing to keep you in check. Just remember when you are sick to keep drinking fluids because bile in its pure form, really unpleasant. Sorry if it's TMI, just cpl things I wish I had known b4 mine. Still worth having done because they are once in a while annoyances compared to mind numbingly painful consistent attacks. -
Fabulous February Post-Op's
SoccerMomma73 replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TMI but I realized a few days ago that I no longer feel like I'm going to throw my toenails up when I need to poop! I consider myself officially healed! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 217.2 -
Oh, that's one of my concerns about surgery day too! I have a super heavy mensus (one of the things I'm praying weight loss will correct eventually too)... so if I am on my period when they operate, they may think someone dropped a scapel... LOL .. not! (TMI?)

I'm on day two of pre-op diet and pms... I know TMI. Just glad I'm off of work for few days!! I'm also in Houston, TX. My surgeon is Dr. Jason Ballette in the Woodlands.

Hmm.. I'm not exactly sure how I am feeling... I took a little break from my workouts this past weekend... bad idea.. had to really push myself to start up again.. but happy to report workouts are back on... of course the scale? Yep.. back up... waah.. I am hoping its the whole "woman" thing.. darn I hate this time of month.. its just so discouraging.. wish there was a magic scale that could take in to consideration how much I actually weigh without all the bloating.. Yeah yeah.. TMI right? In meantime - I'm at a crossroads.. I've began to realize that some of my 'triggers' are a direct result of the anxiety I feel when it comes to my family. I love them.. however I have a feeling my love, my concern for them prevents me from becoming the best that I could be... mentally, emotionally and physically. Granted I can't put the blame all on them.. afterall I am one of those people that take the whole world's problems and make them mine... what am I doing? I've begun to realize that I put my life on hold for the people that I love... so now? I have been thinking seriously for the first time in my life - to be selfish.. I have decided to do what I want for me.. for my life, for my future.. and well whether I fail or succeed - (success is what I am aiming for) I am readying myself for a major move.... To pack up and move to California... Every vacation I take, I never want to come home... is that strange? I feel as if I need a change - not just a physical change - but a LIFE change - a change that the band can't give me... So tomorrow I do what I've been wanting to do for quite sometime I put in my notice at work.. I'm giving myself until the end of July to get my affairs in order and make my move to California... Where in Cali? Not exactly sure.. I'm thinking I spend sometime close to some long lost family out in Fresno... just far enough away from the craziness that is my family.. but just close enough that if I'm 'missing' having family around it'll be a short drive to see them... Will my Arizona family be happy about it? Doubt it.. will THIS make me happy? I don't know... I just know that change can be good... good for the soul.. I have lots of plans - things I want to do - that perhaps 200lbs ago I would've scoffed at.. exploring the trails at Yosemite, King's Canyon, and Sequoia National Parks.. or having a 3 to 3 1/2 hour drive to San Francisco and experiencing and appreciating the eclectic sights and scenes that the city has to offer.. not being afraid this time around to jump on the city's famous trolleys...Or to have to opportunity to mark off my bucket list of doing a Napa Valley Wine Tour... its those "little" things that I want to enjoy.. the little things that right now I find myself too busy to enjoy.... Can I enjoy those types of little things here in Arizona? Sure I can! (minus the Napa Valley trip..) But my heart tells me that I want to experience more... and I believe I shall start with California.. Wish me luck!

Me!!! I have an IUD- Mirena. I haven't had a period in MONTHS like 8-12 months, I can't remember. Anyway, when I started the pre-op diet, immediately I started my period. And it wasn't the spotting (I know, TMI) that I've always experienced on Mirena. It lasted 7 days. Then, just like clockwork exactly one month later, started again- 10 days long this time. Weird!!

I'm not sleeved yet, but weight training has been a big part of both my life and my husband's life (we actually met in a weight room--okay TMI). Anyway, your hypothesis makes sense. What about a 2 day split? Upper on one day, lower on the second? I remember reading an article in Muscle & Fitness about the benefits of being a weekend warrior. The problem with 3/4/5 day splits, especially with upper body, is that even though your isolating the muscle, other muscles are still being used; hence, inability to fully heal. As a "weekend warrior" you're targeting all your muscles in a short amount of time and allowing maximum healing time. I know that when my husband and I got carried away with life events and weight training got pushed to the back burner, we tended to experience greater gains in strength and mass due to the muscles having some r&r healing time.

I know this may be TMI- but I have been having pretty bad diarrhea today. I was banded last Tuesday (5/9) and am still on the clear liquid part of the diet- I switch to mushies tomorrow. Is this common? I am worried about becoming dehydrated- I continue to drink my water, but feel it is coming out faster than it is going in. Anyone have the same thing at about this point?

I am six weeks post op tomorrow. I have been in a stall since week 2. I know I lost ALOT in those 2 weeks, but how long can a stall last? I am eating about 800 calories and my protein is always at least 70g. I am walking most days (nothing aggressive since I am still in bits of pain). What can I do to break my stall. I am getting beyond frustrated. I was due for my period a month ago (sorry for tmi)... could that be holding up some weight loss too??? I need the scale to move soon or I am gonna lose it. NSV - I posed a picture on facebook of myself by accident (I was holding off on that) and I got tons of "you look fabulous" comments... I'm glad I am looking better, but I still want the scale to move. I am worried that it has been too long in a stall. Could my PCOS be part of it as well.... I don't know what else to do to break this stall. I am eating sooo much better than I ever was and so much less. why can't I lose? I eat primarily fish, chicken and tofu. When I go out to eat, I order fish or chicken and take most of it home... Help please!!!!

Hi all!! I'm set to be Sleeved on June 21st. This may be TMI, but I'm kind of a sex addict. And my biggest thing is I like it a lil kinky and rough. My question is, how long after being sleeved is it safe to jump back into to sack???

It has saved my life, and it can save your's!
Ms skinniness replied to Fishing Fool's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is a great topic. Last Wednesday I had a horrible experience that made me really sick. I had a HA so I decided to take a Tylenol with cod #4. I ate something before I took it. I ended up with a horrible pain in my stomach that worked itself down towards my intestines, which were already achy. I got a sensation to go throw it up. I went into the bathroom an sat down and my head started whirling. I passed out onto the floor and ended up vomiting and diarrhea at the same time. Scared the He** out of my family and myself. I was sick for 2 days. I seldom ever throw up. I've always taken 2 tylenol with cod #4 with no ill effects. So now I will avoid Tylenol with Cod #4 due to it could have been an overdose. So we really need to be proactive when getting prescriptions from our PCP's because they sometimes don't realize the effects of meds. And I will not take any NSAIDS due to this reaction. Sorry if there was TMI. This is such a learning experience. -
Dulcolax, smooth move, suppositories? Oh My!
Pammers Johnson posted a blog entry in Pammers Johnson's Blog
***TMI*** I guess Ive not been drinking enough fluids to go with my high protein shakes cause Mama has been Backed up!! I normally have a regular like clockwork body. Get up, have coffee....then go. But the past 3 days, it's been little to none. By the time I thought it was becoming an issue, it WAS an issue! I started getting concerned since my surgery is like TOMORROW! I was straining like I was going to give birth again in time for Mothers Day today. So I placed a desperate call to daughter who picked me up some Dulcolax, some Glycerine Suppostories, and Smooth Move Tea. The tea did nothing but make me have the urge, the Suppository just made it feel worse, and the Dulcolax just hadn't had time to work. I Drank water yesterday until my pee was almost clear!! Finally took a second Dulcolax last night and forced down some Metamucil. Yuck! Had a small tiny bit of relief right before bed but was mindful of my plight with every toss and turn as I slept. This morning...coffee...and I Gave Birth....(I swear I didn't push that hard when I had either of my 3 daughters!!! Alas, I feel I have Triplets so the deed is not done. My Surgey is Tomorrow so I hope I get things "Moving Along" in a normal fashion today. -
Totally not tmi! I would much rather have on a pretty pair of panties and a bra with jeans and a sweatshirt than a fancy outfit with crappy panties underneath. I don't know there is just something about the way it feels:). Congratulations!

My daughters took me to Victoria Secrets for the first time ever! What an awesome feeling to get a pretty bra and panties that matched.... And they had my size and not the largest one !!! No more Lane Bryant hello regular lingerie ! My hubby loves this.. Sorry I know this is TMI but just had to share.... Hope each and everyone has a Happy Mother's Day! So I was banded in March had a fantastic start. Dropped 20 PDS in the first two weeks. Got my first fill May 1st and did pretty good (nobody mentioned it would hurt to get your first fill lol) well now the last 3 days I've been getting sick no vomit but salty saliva and sometimes the gut reaction but no vomit. I've chewed and chewed and I've drank and drank. Fluids perfectly fine...foods not so hot. Nothing taste good I would rather just drink fluids all day. Tmi moment approaching (I'm just starting my woman time) is KT possible my band is just oober tight from the fill and my woman time (noticed it got tight last month too) I'm not sure if I'm battling an illness or if its band related. Oh and in case your wondering I'm not prego lol. See above tmi lol *sorry it posted 3 times :/

Pear shaped vs Apple shaped?
Kalimomof3 replied to Afrodite82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 6 months out as of 5/7/13 HW 234 SW 218 CW 158 GW 130. My skin is ok I have the excess lower stomach skin from the weightloss plus I have had 3 c-sections so I had a flap to begin with. My inner upper thigh like right below v-jay territory (tmi?) has some excess wrinkly(idk wrinkly is right term?)skin. My arms are ok just a little looser in the skin than I'd like but I am doing exercises to see if it tightens up. -
I still eat popcorn occasionally, though my surgeon advised not to. There is not much nutritional value in popcorn, but perhaps TMI, it is still a very effective laxative for me. Like others, I limit the amount I eat, and choose the lower calorie versions.

I am so with you! My doctor said it is kind of like a yeast infection. It is a result of my excess skin, and it is basically collapsing around my belly button. It gets no air, or any way to breathe, so it gets infected. And, I know, TMI, but it stinks!!! She told me to document it though, as they may help towards eventually getting a tummy tuck under "medical necessity".

I was banded Monday 5/6. Everything seems to be heeling pretty well. My incisions (you can see a 48 hour after photo under thread "my incisions 48 hours post-op" thread if you like) seem to be healing fairly well. No drainage today. They are starting to itch so that means they must be starting to heal! I'm happy about that. I am still very tender/sore in the stomach area. I can put my own socks on starting yesterday though! Lol The pain isn't horrible, just taking tylenol a couple times a day. Unlike some other I have been able to eat/drink within my guidelines without any issue. I have been getting feelings of hunger and thirst. No nausea to speak of at all. My pain/soreness gets better everyday. My gas pains haven't been horrible. I do get it them and when they do they can be pretty uncomfortable but they haven't lasted long. Usually when I eat/drink I will get them. I have had no back pain to speak of. I had my first BM today (sorry if its tmi but constipation can be a problem for people after surgery) and I was happy that that waiting game was over. I feel that I've been fairly lucky overall in my recovery. My energy is nowhere near 100% but I didn't expect it to be. I am very happy with my progress so far and figured done pre-op people would like to know! Ask ANY questions on here or via message if you would like. I'm an open book.
