    Marchies In April

Tracy, I bet some of your surgeon's patients are not too happy about that (not you of course;))! It's probably for the best! I think the pre-op diet really prepares your body for what's to come after surgery! Magnolia, It wouldn't hurt to ask...all they can do is say no! SGDodge, sounds like you had a fun day! I think I am going to have a pampering day tomorrow! cate, Congratulations on your NSV! I also have some smaller sized out-of-date jeans in my closet...I guess that means I can go shopping! Also, I don't think it's very common, but I have heard of a few people who had fluid put in their band at surgery. If I recall correctly, they were banded in Mexico. Josie, I am glad you are doing well! I also have a problem not paying attention to what I am eating. I have a habit of eating when I am sitting at this darn computer! :biggrin1: Kyethra, I hope you are feeling better soon! Mrs. Husker, I know exactly how that feels. I had my gallbladder removed some years ago and it can be very painful. Have you thought about having it removed? I have read that alot of lapband patients eventually have to have it removed. Have a Great Day Everyone!

Congrats to you both! The NSV's are almost better than scale victories, too!

    Indiana Sleevers

I felt the same way when mom bought me a size L old navy sundress as an incentive. I figured I'd try it on to gauge how much more weight I'd have to lose to wear it and it fit! A large! Not a XXL or XL but a large! Which is probably the smallest size I'll ever wear in tops. My grandma passed on her chest size to me, even at my smallest Mediums felt like a corset on my tatas Congrats on the NSV! Personally, I find those way more gratifying than the scale
  5. I am so happy to know that it is possible to meet Protein intake without shakes or drinks. I hit 63gr today normally I will drink 2 shakes a day for the 60gr and any protein from food was a bonus. Sorry just had to share with others that would understand, my boyfriend just looked at me with a blank face like I was a nut when I got excited over this. The last time I got this excited was when I realized I had a collar bone ( My first NSV) Happy New Year everyone!!! ( I know I am a little early)

@@SleevaDiva great question above by @@2goldengirl i would also love to hear your story in depth as much as you want to share you have a lot to say do you mind if i ask you if plastics will be done in the near future?? can't imagine the health benefits you've gone through all the NSV's you've experienced is it hard mentally to see your new self in a long mirror?? if your story turns out to be a short novel that's ok - i'll drink water to your health while i read i haven't read a good story in a long time you are amazing i can't even imagine how you feel this and similar success stories from other people should be listed for newbies, people deciding still to have WLS but all the rest of "us" love a good success story too Happy Surgiversary kathy congrats

    Sept 2005 bandsters post here!!

I am more of a lurker here, but thought I'd post some of my NSV's and weight loss. I was banded on 9/30/05, I have two fills and I've lost 41 lbs. A big NSV I had today was I went to Sam's Club and bought a size 16 capri pant without trying them on. Got home and they are too big, I have to take them back for a 14, woo hoo. I am noticing more size loss than poundage loss. I have a hard time mentally with the fact that I am not losing more pounds, but when I try clothes on, that mental struggle goes away. I like to hear all the positive stories from everyone.
  10. I had my first NSV today. My fiance and I made love, and I was in a position that, was, well, doggy-style. He said "wow! I can really tell you've lost weight when you're in this position!" So, at least from one angle, I can tell this is working

I'm the opposite of you Tann. I'm exercising 5 days a week but not eating right. When I'm stressed I just turn to food. So I pop and oreo in my mouth without even thinking about it! I'm going for a fill on Friday, hoping it will help. Lapbandit, you're the best! We all know you'll get right back on track! Elisabeth...I have major cravings! I try and find the healthy alternative to what I'm craving. Hasn't been working lately though. LOL! Josette, congrats on the NSV girl! Doesn't it feel great to wear something in the "normal-sized" category?

I always wanted to know what a stone was. Thanks! And congrats on your NSV!
  14. Linda...I feel yer pain!! I've lost only 16 - and that's including the 5 I lost on the pre-op liquid diet!! I have been feeling hungry all day long, then when supper comes, I'm ravenous and want to eat everything in sight. My DR removed about 2cc of Fluid about 3 weeks ago, when I was so so sick. So, I really have had NO restriction, either. And that's been very noticeable. I do fine during the day because I'm working in another part of my home, away from my kitchen. AND my hubby works from home, too, and I'd hate myself if he knew I was "cheating" - esp after what this is going to cost us. (the hosp bill was just under $30,000!!! Still don't know what our portion is after ins. pays theirs - but YIKES)...so considering the price ($$ and emotional), I'm really not willing to be dumb and sabotage this for myself. BUT, that's not to say I don't have my moments - like today ... bought a bag of Baked Lay's...and ate a bunch on the drive home. I did get a fill yesterday...but today I'm not noticing any significant change. Still feeling hungry and those potato chips went down just fine. BUT I AM DONE. NOW, you've GOT to look for those NSVs (non-scale victories!)...I KNOW there are at least a couple, right??? For me, its my rings fitting loose enough to roll around my finger. My watch fitting loosely around my wrist. My pants getting a little baggy in the butt. A friend noticing my face looks slimmer (tho I really don't see that). ARE YOU WALKING?? Lucy asked the question...so, are you?? I have been, and I know that's helping w/ the NSVs...even tho the scale is not really moving, moving my butt IS causing other good things to happen. Do I like walking? Not really. I'd rather sit on the couch...but I know this is in MY best interest, and I'm finally realizing that "I" have to do this for "me"... tho, honestly, I'm doing it for my family, too. Don't give up on yourself or your dream to get that 40+ lbs off by November. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE - of how great you'll feel when you can trek through Disney without feeling like you're gonna die...of being able to say NO to the crappy food that's in front of your face all day long...of being able to ride a ride you've always wanted to...of not feeling embarrassed or ashamed of yourself (okay, maybe that's just me!?)... Remember, THIS IS SIMPLY A TOOL...you are still the one who controls what goes down the hatch. Choices Choices Choices. And yes, its hard and yes it makes me mad, too, some days...but you are worth it!! Now, get out and take a walk sometime today. This does not have to be a 5K or a 1/2 marathon...Just make it 15 mins. That's 7.5 mins one way and back. Do that for the rest of this week, then next week, make it 10mins one way then back - for the whole week. For me, its daunting to think I "have" to go 30 mins. The exercise girl at my clinic says you can do three 10-min bursts, throughout the day. ITS BETTER THAN NOTHING, and I can truly promise that you'll start seeing the changes. It'll tighten your butt (which makes your pants looser!! - then you'll have to buy a smaller size because who wants a baggy butt??), and your legs (then you can wear a shorter skirt/dress!)...oh gosh, there are so many good things about it!! So, FOCUS on your "whys" - so I can get off the floor w/o help (or a wench), so I can get up off the beach w/o people rolling their eyes, so I can cross my legs w/o having to hook a foot around something to keep it there!, so I can get my rings re-sized - smaller! -, so I can sleep on my side w/o a limb falling asleep, so I can make love to my husband with the lights on!, so I can SEE my feet when I look down, so I can move my bra hooks over one row, so I can begin to see the definition of my jaw line - and not just a jowl, so I can hold my head up higher when I'm at a school function w/ my children....those are just a few of mine. Maybe yours are the same - and maybe you have a few more or something different. FOCUS ON YOUR WHYs. (I'm preaching to myself here, too!!)...WRITE THEM DOWN! We can do this, ladies. We've been given such a wonderful tool...we'd be crazy not to do EVERYTHING in "OUR" power to maximize its benefits and helps. Until the pain of remaining the same becomes greater than the pain of change, you will remain the same. THIS IS NOTHING compared to the pain we've all felt when we've been at our heaviest....yes??? Yes. I have hated myself for long enough. That's my sermon for the day...and maybe it was just what "I" needed to hear from myself. So, if I've stepped on some toes, I'm sorry. BUT, if it resonates w/ you - any of you - then hold your head up and move forward. You cannot change yesterday, but you can move forward today and affect tomorrow!! Blessings! Kim So make today a NEW DAY. A NEW ATTITUDE.

You just don't know.......lol we call Tanner, Tornado Tanner. lol I just don't see how one person, especially a little person, can mess up so many clothes and dishes on one day. I'm kinda like you, Susan, I would much rather be outside playing in the flower beds. I just hate mowing. I didn't do much in my beds this year. I guess that's a good thing now. I don't have time to do anything anymore. Tanner keeps me pretty busy. I hope things will get back to the normal dirt when school starts. I have big plans. lol I ain't tellin either. lol Glo, I just bought some boitin in Paris this morning. You can use the tablets, just cut them up in pieces. I use the capsules. I hope I can get them down now. I don't have any idea how big my stoma is, but I haven't had any problem with the capsules in the past. OH... I have a NSV to tell. I just bought a SMALLER size jeans. AND on top of that they are Rockies. If anyone knows rockies, they run smaller than other jeans!!!!!! Goodie, goodie, gum drops!!!! I got tired of wearing those elastic waistband things that grow on ya. Yall know the kind I mean. I sure hope they boost my morale. Gotta git, my house is getting dirtier by the minute. lol later yall
  16. You will do great, just keep you eye on the prize, lol!! I began at a very tight size 24, within a year I was a 00 and have maintained ever since. The maintenance is the hardest part. Losing is easier, because you have the reward of watching the scale go down, NSV's, smaller clothes and many compliments. You will easily be able to get to size 10!

    Road to "TWOterville"

That's EXACTLY how I feel. Twoterville is a nice city compared to three-hundred-something but I'm not taking up residence. It's a long road through Twoterville. I've spent a couple of days being on the depressed side about that, but then an NSV will hit and pull me back to sanity. Twoterville is comparitively great Koala, come on over.

Congratulations Stephanie! I remember the moment when I first wore pants that zip up and had no elastic. It was just like 2 months ago. EVERYONE notices that kind of thing, whether they say so or not. It's a huge NSV. Congratulations! I've only had one NSV since then (at least that makes the formal list), which is that I noticed one day not long after the pants moment that I was sitting with my legs crossed in my armchair. Now that's my favorite position! It'll be a long time before my legs stay crossed in an upright chair, but in my cushy armchair, I feel just great. Be sure to post when you wear those pants to work for the first time. Don't wait more than 10 days or so to try them on again or when you do, they might be too big!

See, Betty. There were changes and you didn't even know it. THAT IS CALLED A NON-SCALE VICTORY!!!! (NSV) Just remembet that next time you get stuck. Your body is just catching up with the loss. Go Betty! Did you measure before you started? I did. Haven't measured in a while, but I have lost at least 7.5 inches from my waist. It happens when you least expect it. lol lisa

    March Sleevers

I have been stalled for a couple weeks now. I had measured myself before surgery so just to check I measured again yesterday and, even though the pounds are the same, I'm down 2 1/2 inches! NSV!! Also, I've noticed I'm sleeping better and am down a size. It all made me feel a little better. Although I would really like at least a little love from my scale! Lol

    NSV shares

Well this is not exactly a true NSV but I don't know where else to share it. It is an emotional victory for me. See I doubt myself at v times. The victory I'm claiming is: varification and clairification I'm approaching things in thus journey correctly. Although my weight is not flying away on this PreSurgery diet I am losing inches, my exercise tolerance is better, I'm walking farther without having to stop and take a rest, the weight I'm losing I'm not flabby-dying with, sure my blobs are already derounding and getting a little more sock-like, if necessary I'll install a seat belt retractor in my bra cups. At least I'm not to the point where they flop over the top or slither out underneath. If my diet one day is not as perfect as I would like, that's a stumble not a complete fall. Don't sit around crying or emotionally beating myself up, I just puck myself up, dust myself off, learn from the mistake and move on toward the final goal. Weight loss, surgery, lifestyle changes, they are all possible and within my reach. The is a lot of gusto left in life for me and I intend to enjoy it until my last breath. Its a pretty, bright not too hot day in Ohio today, so let's see what's in store for ME.😝
  24. Hello! 187.2 this week. Whaaaat? NSV: I bought a bathing suit in a size large and I don't look half bad in it - haha! Thank you for running the challenge! Have a great week all!

    NSV

Well I finally found out that after wearing a size 52 in men's jeans , I tried to fit in a size 38 , well I have a little more ways to go but I now know that I fit in a size 40_42 & that's in a men's Levi jeans so I would consider that a nsv I guess I went down about 10 sizes in 2 year the size 38s just didn't want to fit over my hips just yet .
