I do think I eat too fast and don't chew enough. I'll walk from now on to help it go down. Thanks!

Great suggestions from others... if those don't work for you, then maybe try intermittent fasting.. Only eat during an 8 hour window. That seems to work for people. I am on a 10 day stall & I am so close to my goal. It is so frustrating. I ramped up my exercise routine yesterday... and I am hoping that will work. If not, I am going to do intermittent fasting. Good luck!

Post-surgery Eating
LunaSea679 replied to RainbowBrite57's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My advice would be to follow what your nutritionist and Dr. recommend but also listen to your body. You will be having a challenge just meeting liquid and protein goals. In the first week I'd say liquid>protein since you dehydrate quick. I was pretty much sipping on something all day those first few weeks since my stomach was full relatively fast. I drank a lot of clear protein drinks, broth and sugar free pops my first week which was clear and the second week I ate protein shakes, thin soups and more pops. My program wanted 62 ounces liquid and 60 grams protein. Don't worry about having a giant variety of stuff since you will probably not like or not want much of it. I bought several kinds of soups and only really liked 2 of them. The rest are still in the cabinet. -
Well I never vomited FOOD after my surgery. I vomited blood. For two days. But after that I was fine (my surgery involves a sleeved stomach btw). As for nausea it came and went and still comes and goes. If I go too long without eating I start to feel nauseous. If I eat too fast... nauseous. If I eat too much... nauseous. Everyone is different and their bodies handle the surgery different, but you're only 3 days post op. I'm almost positive the nausea will go away within the next few days. You might have it give you visits like it does to me lol, but even if it does I got used to it and I don't regret my surgery in the least.

Tired of Questions...need some reasons for weight loss
Cheeseburgh replied to stacer12's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Let’s see: ”My lifetime goal is to be on America’s Next Top Model, the producers of the show informed me that I’d have to lose weight to achieve that goal.” “My car broke down (or repo’d) a few months ago, so I’ve been walking to and from work everyday.” ”I developed a fast food allergy “ ”I burned my mouth so severely on a hot pocket ,I couldn’t eat for months.” -
Any use intermittent fasting?
summerset replied to AuthorLizzy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I use intermittent fasting since almost two years now. Started because I wanted to try to get rid of some chronic low-grade inflammation in my shoulder. I don't know if this was just a placebo effect but my shoulder is way better. No pain and mobility is not as good as on the other side but way better than before. I use 16:8 for "maintenance" so to say, an occasional day with 18:6 or 20:4 if it fits my schedule. In terms of weight loss it was maybe an additional 2 or 3 kg - not worth the hassle if you don't like the lifestyle IMO. -
February 2020 Post-Op Thread
PSquared_vsg replied to ResaRoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone!!! Im almost at the 6.5 month mark & I feel absolutely FANTASTIC. I haven't felt this great since I was a freshman in college. I'm down 79 lbs- everyone is noticing a huge difference which is sometimes a bit awkward because they're like "you look so good" and in my head I'm like "I also looked so good before ...or did I?" Messes with the brain and self esteem in weird ways.. Anywho- I have my days where I look in the mirror and feel like I have a long way to go, but I'm actually 24 lbs away from my surgeons goal of 170lbs. Ive only dumped maybe 3 times "non-traditionally" I get the sweats and have to use the bathroom shortly after. I have had episodes of the foamies 2 times though (dry heaving with only clear slimy stuff coming out?). I haven't been able to pinpoint what triggers it, but I definitely hate it. Surprisingly I am able to tolerate just about anything.. don't judge me or just stop reading now lol.. I've had small portions of: Cake, Chips, Fried Foods, Fast Foods, Pizza, Ice cream the list of no-no's honestly goes on and on. You name it I've probably at least had a bite to test the waters, but I do eat clean 80% of the time- which is my long-term goal. I have been working out on and off. I completed a full body strength training 28 day challenge and worked my way up to running/walking (2.5 minutes running/ 30 seconds walking) 2.47 miles using the run keeper app. I then took a break to plan and have my micro-wedding which was 7/23/20! I'll attach some photos. The wedding threw me for a loop and I didn't workout for about a month after that, so I'm still getting back into the groove and trying to make it a habit. So far so good, I worked out everyday this week (Monday-Friday) I want to take weekends off. I have some loose skin that I think will need some plastic surgery later on in life, I'm not that worried about it right now. Hope everyone is doing well! -
Anyone for September 2020?
AnewmeRN replied to vsg_britt_091420's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery date is approaching but not fast enough, Sept 14th and am on count down, 8 more days to go yay!!!. I am i’m also nervous about being put to sleep though. Lol. For the past two nights I have been dreaming about the day. But I’m sure everything will be OK. -
You guys are doing great! I am in another "stall" ...been the same weight for a week. I pretty much knew this was going to happen because for three weeks - I was losing FAST... like 3½ - 5 lbs per week. I knew it was going to be too good to true and wouldn't last. But yes, I am with you guys and just trusting the process too and doing as best as I can do... following the guidelines.. whatever will be.

Anyone for August 2020
MariaC6 replied to MotivatedMomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone! I had VSG on August 27th, stayed one night in the hospital and have been able to get my fluids and protein since day one (which totally surprised me). I’m literally sipping all day and use an app to keep track of my intake. I’m already sick of the shakes 😂 and have started substituting bone broth for some fluids/protein. My surgery weight was 226 (I’m 5’8) and prior to surgery I lost 14lbs in the liquid diet. Since surgery I’ve lost 7 pounds in a little over a week. I already know that I’m not going to be a fast loser, and that’s ok. First 5 days post surgery I had zero appetite. Since then I do find myself hungry (I think??) but usually I just sip on a shake and it goes away. Does it take anyone else an hour to finish a shake?? My first surgical follow up is September 9th and I’m really hoping I can move onto soft foods- I need yogurt to help move my bowels! -
It’s called dumping syndrome. It’s when you eat something that doesn’t agree with you and can cause fast heart rate, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and other issues for several hours after eating the offending food. I dumped super heavy right after surgery on all ready drink vanilla protein shakes. That was only 3.5 weeks ago and I’m scared to drink them again but my stomach hurts 15-30 minutes after drinking any protein shake or powder now. 😭 Hopefully this isn’t the case forever.

Tired of Questions...need some reasons for weight loss
jillwtrs replied to stacer12's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Tell them you doing Noom. Everyone is looking for a diet that is easy and fast. Only my husband knows I had WLS . I did have my hernia repaired so that is what I told everyone my surgery was for. I don’t want WLS to define me. I hope I can handle the questions when they come. I’m only 10 days out but I returned to work on day 6. -
" ... anyone have any tips that helped them?" 1) Upgrade your seat/saddle. I got my GF this one (wide version) https://www.rei.com/product/152865/bontrager-boulevard-bike-saddle. 2) Make sure you're in a nice low gear for even slight inclines until you build some endurance. It will seem that you're pedaling fast but not getting anywhere but you'll be getting your exercise and not over taxing your joints or muscles.

Hi Lakenya1986... what was your starting weight? I had mine on August 17th and I am on a stall. Starting weight was 280lbs...down to 258. But now it hasn't change although I've been active with my workouts. I fast walk about 2 miles everyday. Any suggestions? Sent from my SM-N975U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Any August 2019 people out there?
ahillig replied to big_ange's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit my one year on 8/28, so crazy how fast time flies! Anyway, I exceeded the goal my surgeon set by two lbs on my official one year appointment. His goal for me was 175, I was 173, my lowest I recorded at home is 171. I went from 275 at my initial consult, 265 at my pre-op to now and it's insanely crazy how fast and how much I've lost. They said that women rarely lose 100% of their excess weight and even rarely do they do it in the first year so I'm thrilled! My only regret is not doing this sooner, I feel so amazing! Jeans: 24-->8 Tops 2/3XL-->M/L Bra: 42C-->36B/C I have also signed up for a half marathon! I'll be running the Disney Star Wars half in April and I cannot wait! My only "problem" to date is that I cannot tolerate pork well. Even the smallest amount makes my stomach hurt. It's also wreaked havoc on my period and not in a good way. I have suspected endometriosis so that could be playing a part as well but most of my problems in that regard have been since my bypass. -
Surgery TOMORROW! SO nervous! Hospital must haves
Sky _B replied to Itsmehab's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh how exciting! I am packing a neck pillow. It might be too hard to lay down so I usually use a neck pillow to sleep with sitting up. Pack you flip fops, face wash, lotion and your own tooth brush and paste. Hope you have a fast recovery and give a update -

Losing Weight Too Fast?
catwoman7 replied to nolo56788's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
people lose at all different rates depending on a host of factors. Just follow your clinic's plan and you should be fine. And although I don't know about the ESG specifically, weight loss after surgeries tend to be fast the first month, then it slows down quite a bit. -
Losing Weight Too Fast?
colormehappy replied to nolo56788's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I reference this chart frequently! I think weight loss is always super fast in the beginning because you lose water and inflammation. I lost 12 pounds my second week post sleeve and since then it’s slowed down to about 2 pounds a week with the occasional 3-4 pound week thrown in. -
So I got an ESG 8/19. My weight 30 minutes before the procedure was 315. Today, I clocked in at 289. For the first time in my life, I think I'm concerned with my weight LOSS haha. Is it supposed to be this rapid? I'm currently on stage like 2b (full liquid with some puree if I can handle it). I'm a little concerned I'm not eating enough during the day which is why I'm losing so fast but I don't want to push eating on the chance I either pop a suture or throw up - which I really hate. Any suggestions?

First time feeling some buyers remorse
catwoman7 replied to WhatATool:-)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
five years out here. I can eat anything except for really fatty meals. For example, before I had surgery, my husband and I loved to go out for Friday night fish fries. Two or three fish filets, battered or breaded and deep-fried, topped with tartar sauce, with a side of fries and a side of cole slaw made with mayo. That would be a no-go for me now. I'd be in the bathroom getting sick after eating that. I could maybe eat half of a deep-fried fish filet. Anything else I ate with it would have to be non-fatty. but pretty much anything else - yes. Just less of it. I used to be able to eat half a large pizza in one sitting. Now I can eat one or two pieces. but when you think about it - that's the way normal-sized women usually eat (unless they're exercise fiends or were blessed with great metabolism). A few weeks before surgery, I watched what my female co-workers ate for lunch. There were a couple who ate what at the time I would have called a normal lunch. A sandwich, chips, maybe a cookie. Or maybe take-out from a deli or a fast food place. But a majority of them ate things like a sandwich and an apple. Or a sandwich and some baby carrots. Or a thing of yogurt and bagel. Honestly, I think that's just normal in the non-obese world. Unfortunately, I might add... But that's the way I usually eat now, too. I started counting calories when I was about a year out. I still do. As long as I stay at or under 1700 calories most days of the week, I can maintain my weight. I do occasionally go over that - and sometimes by a lot (like on special occasions), but I try to keep that to only special occasions. Most days, I do stay within my range. That calorie range will vary for everyone depending on a lot of factors. But anyway, to address your first concern, yes - I could work ribs into my daily plan and still stay within my range... -
Yeah my dietician/nutritionists was about on par with the others. She was always really fast and not real interested in things... Most information came from my doctor in his handout

I just had my surgery on the 24 of the month. I am very sore but pain is getting better. I have already started walking my mile on treadmill at a slower rate than before. I am just having a hard time consuming all the liquid in time frame at this point. I get full way too fast, can’t get all the 2 oz of broth down. Other than that feeling good. Get ready to start next diet phase.
