  1. So I am 5 weeks out now and had the sleeve. Have done great and getting better everyday, until when I got up today, I didn't know if I was hungry or if I just needed to take a zantac. My tummy wasn't feeling normal. I took the zantac and later had 1/4 of pb and jelly. I actually was feeling hungry or something all day which isn't normal for me now. I haven't been hungry for like 3 weeks. I made supper and told my husband I didn't know if my belly was upset or if I'm just hungry. So I ate a little because I hadn't eaten anything except the pb and j all day. I immediately started feeling all of this pressure in my lower ab area. Pressure like I had to pee or ... real bad. And my back is hurting too, between my shoulder blades and it hurt to even walk around. I laid down for a bit, but that was uncomfortable so I sat on the toilet for like an hour and tried to go but nothing. It started hurting so bad I was crying some. I called the surgeon on call and he thought since it hurt to put pressure on my lower belly that I should go to the hospital and have a scan. Now for the "bad me" part. I listened to the surgeon and my husband took me to the emergency room. None of them had heard of my type of surgery, and they didn't understand when I said that the only pain meds I could have was tylenol because everything else was either not allowed or makes me sick. They questioned this. So they tell me I may have appendicitis (sp) which isn't at all where I feel the pain, it is more in my bladder and lower belly, not to the right or left. They wanted to hook me up to an iv and have me drink 300 cc of the contrast in a half an hour, then wait another couple hours befroe the scan. The doctor told me everything was going to take like 6 hours. I just thgouht OMG, no way possible could I get anywhere near that amount of Fluid down that quick and I can't possibly stay in this ER room for that long without going crazy. So then they tried to do the iv and let me tell ya, I have BEAUTIFUL veins. No one has ever had problems with my veins. This nurse stuck one in a place I've never had one, like right in the side of my arm, and after 15 minutes of trying and me getting so dizzy and nauseas like I was going to pass out, she decided to try someplace else. I stopped her there. I was so discouraged at this point that I said to my husband, maybe I should just sleep on it, take some stuff for constipation and see if that helps. He got furious and asked if I was serious. I wasn't comfortable with the lady doing the iv, I was so dizzy from her doing it, they had never heard of my surgery and I admit I was scared they were going to hurt me because if they hadn't heard of my surgery, how could they possibly know how to treat me properly. I asked my husband if I could leave and he left it up to me and I did. He is so mad at me, and I know I should have stayed but I just couldn't. So I went to cvs and got some Milk of Magnesia to try incase I'm constipated. I haven't ever been constipated so I don't know what it feels like and I had a normal, but small bm yesterday. I know tmi..... sorry. I also don't know what a bladder or urinary track infection feels like. Could anyone enlighten me. Has anyone ever had this type of pressure and pain? I'm hoping it is a simple fix and that I am just constipated or something. I'm hoping to get better without going back to our local hospital. I would just die if I have to go back there.
  2. I think you've already had your surgery, so, this may not be helpful to you, but maybe to someone else. One side-effect I've experienced is extreme constipation *embarrassing*. And in conjunction to that, some hemorrhoids. I think that this is a problem for many people after surgery because you don't always have room for fibrous foods once you've gotten in the Protein. I'm really hoping once I hit the maintenance phase I will be able to up my Fiber considerably & not have to deal with this anymore. This may be TMI, but it is a side-effect I've experienced and maybe should be added to your list. Krista

    Surgery story

Krista, thank you so much for posting your experience. My surgery date is next Tuesday and this helps me know what to expect. Good luck and I look forward to your future postings. Marti Hello all, I got through my surgery and 2 weeks of recovery just fine. I thought I would post a detailed description of how it went because I know how apprehensive I was about the whole thing, and I really wanted to know exactly what to expect. February 23 was the date of my surgery. I was having the gastric sleeve procedure, a hernia repair, and my gall bladder removed. I had these procedures done in Downers Grove, IL by Dr. Rosen. I had to arrive at the hospital at 5:00 am. They weighed me and put me in a room where I was asked to put on the hospital gown and get in the hospital bed. They then put an IV in my hand and put the compression stockings on my legs. I was given a couple of shots (I'm not entirely sure what they were for). Every time a nurse stopped in I had to repeat my name and date of birth and they had to check my wrist band. All this happened over the course of 2 hours. I was allowed to have one person in the room with me and we pretty much just chatted in the in between times of the nurses visits. At about 6:45 am the surgeon stopped by to review the procedures we were doing. I also met with the anesteologist. My surgery was scheduled for 7:00 am, and at about 7:05 am they started to wheel me to the operating room. I did make them stop at the bathroom because I was nervous and really felt the need to go one last time. Up until this point, I had been very calm and at peace with my decision. My heart rate had been right around 65 the whole time. But now I was extremely nervous. They wheeled the bed through what felt like 20 different corridors. We arrived in the operating room. It was COLD and smelled funny. They had me move to the bed they would be doing the surgery on. I lay there and looked up at these 3 huge lights (reminded me of old movies where the police were interrogating you and they had that big bright light in your face) and I started to really freak out. I kept thinking that this was going to be the last place I would ever see (I was so nervous about the idea of dying that the night before I wrote goodbye letters to all my friends and family). I started to cry and the nurses and doctors tried to comfort me, but I can't say it really worked. I would say that they knocked me out within about 2 minutes of when I started crying. The next thing I remember is waking up in a considerable amount of pain. I believe it was around 10:30 am. The nurse wanted to know my level of pain on a scale of 1-10. I told her 6-7. I also told her I had to go to the bathroom. It was horrifically painful to have them lift my hips to put the bedpan under me, and in the end, I couldn't go anyway. I stayed in the recovery area for 3 hours because they didn't have any regular rooms ready. For the most of the time I slept and the pain medication kicked in, so I didn't feel so crappy. Finally, at about 1:00 pm, I was taken to my room. I again pretty much slept and i would say that with the morphine, my pain was about a 2. I didn't feel bloated from gas. My biggest problem was a constant need to pee... major inflamation due to the catheter. In fact, the need to pee was so overwhelming that by 4:00 pm, I forced myself to get out of bed and try to go to the bathroom again. Getting out of the bed was incredibly painful. As long as I was not moving in bed, I felt fine, but getting out of bed hurt! I became incredibly nauseous when I sat up and I told them I needed a bucket in case I puked while on the toilet. I dry heaved a couple of times (that hurt like a mother!). They put something in my IV to get rid of the nausea, and I never experienced it again. I still wasn't able to go to the bathroom, but as long as I was up, they had me walk a lap. I pretty much had to get up every hour from that point on to try and use the bathroom. Most of the time, I would also walk a lap. I should add, that they put some blue dye in the ice chips so that when I was able to pee, it was bright green. The blue dye helps them make sure you have no leaks. If there is a leak, the blood in the drain would turn purple. If there is no leak, then your pee will be green. Around 5:30 pm, I went to radiology where they made me drink something that really left me feeling like I might hurl. After I got that down, I had to do the barrium drink. That wasn't as gross. The cool thing was that I could see the screen so I could watch the Fluid move down my throat and into my stomach. I was down there for about 10 minutes and then it was back up to my room. At 10 pm the nurse came in to tell me I had to give myself my first heprin shot (my dr. requires all patients to give themselves 3 shots of heprin a day for 2 weeks following surgery). The idea of injecting myself with something really freaked me out, but I knew I had to do it or they wouldn't release me from the hospital. I had to give myself the shot in either my thigh or my stomach. I did the thigh. It took me a while to work up the nerve to put the needle in my leg, but I did it. It wasn't really painful and I would say that by day 3 after surgery, it was no big deal to do anymore. They also checked by blood sugar level which was 159! This completely freaked me out because one of the big reasons I wanted this surgery was to prevent diabetes, which runs heavily in my family. Because the blood sugar level was so high, I had to get a insulin shot. They had to check the sugar level every 6 hours after that. The next time they checked it was 139 and the time after that it was 88. They told me that sometimes surgery causes your blood sugar levels to spike, but it will usually drop back down to where it should be by the next day. That night I had to sleep with some tubing below my nose because the sleep study showed I have low oxygenation in my blood when I sleep. This thing was to monitor that. A buzzer would sound if the oxygen level dropped below 90. So, every single time I would fall asleep or start to drift off, this annoying buzzer would start ringing and I would have to call the nurse to get it turned off. At 3 am I finally asked what the purpose of this was, other than making sure I didn't sleep a wink the entire night. I was even more irritated about the whole thing when she told me the buzzer didn't sound out at the nurses station. The only place it rang was in my room. I made enough of a stink about the whole thing that they changed the tubing so it was putting out oxygen and would keep the stupid alarm from ringing the second I started to sleep. I don't think I slept after that because I was awake every time a nurse came in to check a vital or give me a shot. I will say, expect to be woken up at least every 2-3 hours. The next day, they took me off the morphine and gave me a form of vicodin as a pain killer. I continued walking every hour (and going to the bathroom). The surgeon stopped by around 8:00am to check on me. He said that since I had been up moving around so much and I was doing quite well, that he was going to have them release me around 2pm (provided I could drink 4 oz of Water every hour with no problem). I had no problem with this and was ready to go, but my nurse was so ditzy that it was after 4:30 by the time I was finally released. Before I could go, they had to remove the drain, which I was really nervous about. She assured me it wouldn't hurt, but would be more uncomfortable feeling than anything. I was still braced for serious pain because friends had told me it hurt a lot. However, when she pulled it out, it really wasn't painful. It was more of a bizzare feeling because you can feel that tubing snaking around your internal organs. I think because it was only in there for a day, the skin hadn't grown around it so there was no pain. I went home. The next 4 days, I was stiff and sore. I continued taking the liquid vicodin type medicine and my pain levels were around a 2. sleeping was difficult. I slept on the couch with my back propped way up so I could be in an almost sitting position. By day 5, I stopped taking the pain medication except for at night. By day 7, I quit the pain medication all together and was able to resume driving. If I had had to, I probably could have resumed working, but I was still very easily exhausted. I took a full 2 weeks off of work because I didn't want to have to give myself injections at work. Overall, I felt like the surgery was far easier than I had expected. The only hard part was getting in & out of bed & moving position, but the more you force yourself to do it, the easier it gets. I haven't had any problems with throwing up or anything like that. Relearning how to eat has been a struggle and is my biggest focus right now. I hope this long and detailed (and in some cases TMI) story is helpful to those of you with this surgery in your future. 4. But I'm back!!! Hey guys... I've been out of the loop for a while. I guess I've just been busy getting to know me . I've been spending a lot of time at the Y and around the city with my family. I just want to be everywhere all the time. And thankfully that "emotional roller coaster" is coming to a stop. But I will tell you that getting stuck is no joke, lol... when they say chew, chew, chew...DO IT! I've had my fair share so far, lol. Oh, another thing... My confidence is peaking. I don't want to sound conceited but I LOVE looking at myself. I love fixing myself up everyday and taking pictures. You know, If you look good, you feel good. So I take that extra time for myself everyday and fix myself up, even if its just a coat of mascara and lip gloss. Its a huge confidence booster . For those of you who want to know if you'll be able to ever drink again: Yes, yes you can . For those 20 somethings who still have yet to experience life and the club/bar scene doooooo iiiittttt!!!! (Just know you're taking in a large amount of empty calories so plan your day accordingly) I had a blast this past weekend at my cousins bday party. Although I can't hang like everyone else anymore, its ok. Before it would take a good 9/10 shots of tequila to get me... now, sadly, its 3..lol. But its cool, its way cheaper now, lol. So quick update: NOTHING in my closet fits ( not even my bras & panties...tmi i know) but its freaking amazing. Last week I went to see Pauly D (yumm!) and I had to buy a whole new outfit. The only thing that really bothers me is the extra cash I have to put up to buy and buy and buy. I went from a size 24/26 to 18/20 so I need the clothes. Ay dios mio, tengo muchas problemas... (in my sarcastic voice) As far as eating goes... I really don't have much restriction anymore. I go for my second fill tomorrow so I'm excited about that. P.s: Im living life... who would have thought? "If you never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good" -The incredible Dr. Seuss

So how did I fair a stomach virus

Well I was always told by my surgeon that lapband patients should never throw up and this question has come up many times on the forums what happens if you get a stomach virus. Well I haven't had one in about 2 decades so I was kind of hoping I wouldn't ever get one again. Well last night after dinner my stomach felt like crap. I only ate a small amount of pork but I took some prilosec and went to bed. Holy crap at 2 a.m. I woke up heaving up what I thought was all my internal organs and had massive amounts of diarrhea I know TMI. The good thing was the only thing that was coming up was gas so it was just horrible dry heaving. I was home alone because my husband was away and I knew I could not drive to the hospital with a bucket heaving as hard as I was. I figured I would take some compazine I had from my gallbladder surgery and I called my surgeon. He said drink water even if it comes back up because it will make the throwing up less violent and meet him at his office at 6.a.m. Well so much for the compazine because that wouldnt even stay down. My doctor met me at his office at 6a.m gave me a shot for the nausea because he is nice like that and sent me for a stat ct scan. By now I was only throwing up about every hour. My little band was fine thank God. He said at three years post op that it is probably well adhered to the stomach so it would take more than this to move it. Of course I have major swelling so he told me clear liquids for the rest of the week and through the weekend and not to try to put any food in there even if I am hungry. He gave me a shot for the nausea which thank God has gone away and told me to drink plenty of gator aid for now. He didn't think there was a need to remove the fluid, just resting the stomach would do fine he said. Well the one good thing about all this is I hate more then anything to throw up and I was thankful that nothing came up. So now ya know if you have a stomach virus the first thing to do is call your doctor to guide you. He is there for me no matter what. I dont feel embarrassed to call him and this time I needed him. I don't like going to the ER's for things like this because there are worse off people then me in there. So now if the other end stops I will be fine. Trying to eat some italian water ice slowly just to get some fluids in. So my hope is to not have a stomach virus for another 4 decades now lol.
  7. I have just learned not to be a scale fanatic. It hurts too much to watch that scale go up and down so I will only get on it once a week and sometimes every other week. There are the occasions that I get on it after a good bowel movement (TMI) but that is a rare occasion. I measure how clothes fit and being able to fit into clothes that I've had in my closet for a while. I'm actually getting to a place, where I may need to go shopping. Wasn't expecting that until the fall/winter months, so WOW!

    6 days post op

Had my surgery on Dec 2nd at 12:30. Everything went smoothly with that but afterward, I had a hard time getting my oxygen level up. It drops when I sleep and I kept dozing because of the anesthesia and pain medicine. The nurse finally had me sit in a chair and that seemed to satisfy them so I got to go home about 6pm. The pain the first couple of days was manageable with the loratab. I never had the shoulder gas pain I read about but from all the sipping, I did get gas. I didn't buy any gas-x so on Sat I had my first outing and hubby and I dropped my books off at the library and then went to Wal-mart for the gas-x and more motrin. I was beginning to worry because I hadn't had a BM yet and I know that the pain med can cause you to get really constipated. Hope this isn't TMI but I finally had one yesterday afternoon. That's a huge relief. Now the pain feels like a bad stitch in my side from too much running. I went out on my own today to pick up my prescription refills and to make a quick run through the commissary to get a few groceries. That was too much. I started getting a sharp pain on my left side and had to sit a few minutes, then I didn't think about having to lean over and get stuff out of the grocery basket. I made it home ok and took some motrin as soon as I got here. I'll be taking a dose of loratab at bedtime for sure. In fact, it's about time for that now....later.

PLEASE let the gas go away

I believe you're saying that you are having two different symptoms; reflux (acid burning in you stomach/throat) and gas (usually with referred pain, sometimes in your back or left shoulder). You need to call your doc about the reflux. If he hasn't given you an Rx for it, ask for one. Mine sent me home with Nexium (Rx). I didn't have it for long luckily...mainly at the beginning and then every once in awhile for another month. The reflux acid on your new pouch and stoma can cause more inflammation and even ulcers. As far as the gas goes, there's not much you can do as it's trapped air in your abdomen from them filling you up with air to help with the surgery, and it just needs to be absorbed by your body. The walking does help to more the air around and help your body to absorb it. There's a debate as to whether the GasX helps other than in your gastrointestinal system, but I certainly used it (you can take several at a time). I also used a heating pad on the areas that hurt and that helped me. I also took a gentle laxative a few days out (for just one day) to get things moving along and that made me feel a lot better (TMI- I started really 'tooting' after that). Good luck to you and please call the doc if you're having any reflux. -BG
  11. Surgery was 2 weeks ago, I’m fine, healing great, etc. Ever since I had surgery my bowel movements have all been a maroon color. I told my surgeon he said it must be from liquids/dyes, or something I’m taking in...but it is still happening like daily. It’s kinda freaking me out. Has this happened to anyone else? I’m trying to stay calm and not freak out but it’s kind scary to think it could be blood. Advice please!

What to pack for the hospital

An extra pair of pjs, or sleep wear, & knickers in case you have to stay an extra day or accidents. (At my hospital they make you shower & put on your own pjs on the second day.) My friend swears by incontinence pad knickers. Not for incontinence but for the not uncommon & totally unexpected attacks of diarrhoea. As her surgeon warned her: you may think you’re about to pass wind but it will be way more than that (apologies if tmi). Non slip slippers or slides for your laps around the ward. I couldn’t stand anything pressing against my incision wounds so soft waisted pants/skirts that you can fold down at the waist to wear home or a dress. Good luck.
  13. Hi friends, well I've been rolling along thinking I'm the greatest thing since sliced bread, doing everything right to the letter, wondering why others are having troubles, but finally last night I ran into my first bump in the road.I think I now know what "dumping" is. Now I'm not sure why this happened or exactly what I did different from other nights, but I might have eaten too fast or a bit too much and plus I'm now on my surgeon's second phase diet which is puree. Well I ate my 4 oz of protein shake, 2 oz of cottage cheese, 4 oz of a pudding, 1 oz of egg salad and then was lying down to watch computer screen; I fell asleep briefly then woke up to a kinda nasty sense that I either (excuse the TMI that's coming)had to vomit or go to the bathroom, so it was the latter after all, but I sat there pretty miserable for 20 minutes, feeling light headed and nauseus, didn't want to stand from nausea and light headedness, so wow, not much fun!! I take it that was dumping, right? Well, I would like to try to avoid that in the future but not sure what I did
  14. Thanks! I really needed the reassurance. I'm at the point where you just about start to go crazy cause weight loss is slow and you aren't eating anything! And trust me, I'm the queen of TMI sometimes, so nothing bothers me!
  15. Not only do I share a house with my husband, but this cold too. My surgery is December 12 and I got sick two days ago. Though, in hindsight, I could see it a mile away. I thought it was just "allergies," but I was naive then. When I was at work and my throat started to hurt, I knew something was up. The next day I was fatigued and my throat hurt badly, so I stayed home and slept it off. Since then I've returned to work and am currently dealing with mild-moderate cold symptoms (post nasal drip, productive cough to rid my throat of the stuff gathering there, a bit sniffly) but definitely not feverish and the mucus (TMI) is nice and clear for right now. I told my surgeon's nurse and she advised that as long as I am not running a fever, or hacking up green mucus, I'm in the clear. I'll be elevated during surgery and post-op. But I'd rather have the most mild of symptoms during my surgery and while I have a few days to get well, does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to make sure my lungs are nice and clear for the surgery? Mind you, I'm drinking PLENTY of liquids. Salt water gargle rinses. And trying to get as much sleep as I can. I wash my hands constantly. I've also been taking DAYQUIL as the go-ahead from my nurse.

    surgery on your period?

I had to stop taking my birth control pills a week before surgery (doctor's orders) so of course I was expecting to start anytime. I wasen't bleeding or anything when I went into surgery however, but when i woke up the nurse had stuck a rag between my legs because apparently I started while I was on the table. (Embaressing!) After a few hours it stoped thou... odd. -Oh, and sorry for the TMI ! :wink2:

    So Nervous

We leave in exactly 10 hours to fly out to San Diego. I am nothing but a ball of nerves right now. I have a few things that I need to get done before we leave out at 3 am, but I cant seem to get moving.... My stomach hurts... *TMI ALERT* but when I get nervous I get the beegee (aka bubble guppies aka bubble guts aka the sh**s)...and I know before we leave I will be paying several trips to the bathroom... Help me calm down... I know I want this surgery...have no issues with going to Mexico....so what is the matter with me?
  18. I surprise myself when I look in the mirror. When I try on a smaller size and it fits for the first time, I start to cry. I'm now in 10s comfortably, and can also get in some 8s, which I find shocking. I think I went from children's sizes to a 9/10 when I was in junior high. I don't ever remember being in an 8. I'm shrinking on the bottom more quickly than the top. When I was heavy, I would push the weight around off my face to remind myself what I really look like. Now that I've lost so much weight, I can see and feel my jawline easily, and I feel bony. My collarbone sticks out (to me) and I feel bony on my upper chest (but I'm a 38G!). I've never had a nice round bottom - it was always wide, but flat. I've lost so much on my tush that I'm bony there, too. TMI, but moving a certain way on the toilet actually hurts my tush! I think I need to buy a cushioned toilet seat! I don't remember that being a problem when I was a teenager, but my butt actually hurts!! I mention above that I would push my face around to remind myself what I look like. There are few people in my life that know me from before I got fat - my sister, Dad, and a few cousins. I've caught my sister looking at me, kind of shocked-like (but happy) - like she's rediscovering me. My dad has teared up looking at me, just thrilled that I had the surgery. It's probably the one thing in my adult life that he hasn't told me that I was wrong for doing. Everyone else is just amazed at how I look. Sometimes the comments don't bother me, especially from the people who know how important this was to me and that know that I had the surgery. But the people that don't know, and that I don't like, or that make a big deal about it (especially publicly), it really drives me nuts. All my rings are too big, as are some of my watches and bracelets. Even some of my shoes are too big, which really surprised me because I've been the same shoe size since I was 12 (and I wasn't fat when I was 12). I'm still curling into myself, as I mentioned in another post a couple of months ago. 15 more pounds to go to the top of the weight range for my height. Not sure if I want to stop there. I'm not unhappy where I'm at now, but I know I need some more off. I really can't get over how bony my ass has gotten. Ouch!
  19. So I haven’t pooped in about 9 days and I have been throwing up and getting extremely dehydrated. I have tried 3 fleet enemas and there’s nothing. Should I go to the ER for help or just wait it out? I have a really bad lower stomach pain and I can feel really thirsty but can’t keep fluids down still. My doc said do an enema a day but it’s not helping...
  20. I am close to a month out and until the other day had not bad any nausea/vomiting but it must have been something i ate. The question i have is it anyone else notice that when they got nauseous if you started spitting up a lot of saliva and then when you did vomit there was a good amount of foam?
  21. Home for day two post and this morning I am sipping my first small serving of protein drink! It taste So good! Lol, pain for me has been nile to none at all; I still have the pain patch behind my ear so maybe that's why. They started me on the small 30ml cups in the hospital as well and those do help me keep up with my water demand. Over all experience, I'd do it all over again I feel fantastic other than a little it drowsy none and then so of course I nap! Dr sent me home with the liquid codein/advil medicine and it tastes like robitussin, not sure to liquids for meds but I took it before bed last night just in case and it must work but I was exhausted and I slept a solid 7 hrs! Haven't done that in a few weeks! If anyone has any questions just let me know; it is interesting to me all our recoveries and meal plans after surgery are so different. I had to wait 48 hrs before anything to drink other than water; Crystal lite or the premier protein water (which is great and has 20g of protein) so as I said at the top of my post this little 4oz of shake I'm sipping is so good! My biggest thing now tmi, is I've not had a BM which I know its because of nothing but water in me so this protein will help, not feeling constipated so I just need to let my body and nature take its course!
  22. Ok so I saw the other post on here asking about when to expect a BM. I have been having them and it's completely different than pre-op. I am assuming it's because I am on all liquids, but my BM is all liquid.....is this something that is normal for this stage....I had two today and one yesterday. Really made me nervous.

    Fears?

All I do is drink and drink .... My head is killing me I live in the bathroom... TMI I know but 8 days to go . Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow morning. that is all I can do
  24. Hi all, Well they let me go yesterday instead of waiting until today. That's the good news. I feel "ok" but mostly gassy from moment to moment and a bit of diarrha (green to boot), sorry I know TMI, but had to share. The surgery itself went smooth. I'm sore, I'm bloated, my stomach looks like I'm ready to deliver a bowling ball and someone tried to punch it out of me. Feel a bit weak from surgery, I'm sure. My tongue is coated with some white yucky stuff (what's that about?) I bought Isopure beforehand so I could start right in with the protein. Tastes like flavored dishwater to me. Hope that gets better cuz I bought like 10 of those stupid things. Mexicali was hotter than hell (113 degrees yesterday the day I left.) Dr. Aceves was in and out a bunch. He drinks Coke - all day long - I asked him about that, but he said he doesn't have a sleeve so he can do that! Dr. Campos is getting skinny. Sergio was a love. I asked for Lidocaine before IV insertion; they poo-poo'd me and stuck it in anyway and it hurt like a SOB, and I let that doctor know I was NOT happy about that, GD it!! They gave me a Morphine spinal - I was rolled into a ball and that's all I remember as I was out after that. Woke up OK in recovery. Had a drain which they left in for 3 days and looked like a 3 foot snake when they pulled it out. Fun stuff. My husband was amazed they could get that much in there! I feel weak, dragging around, somewhat envious that DH can eat and I cannot eat anything. Enough trouble trying to drink. Water and all liquids are a little tough going down. Tea is best cuz it's warm and feels good. I tried to eat that chicken broth in the hospital, but the smell and taste of it gagged me. Everyone is different. So this is day 4 for me as well, and hope it gets better fast cause I feel like a major pune. Oh, BTW, I did not have to remove any nail polish or nails. Yay for that!

    Morning problems

Ps. Maybe tmi but I also get the feeling like I really have to poop. Really bad but of course I'm just out so its hard to go. Could that be related?
