    non scale victory (NSV)

Congratulations Gadumplin. What an accomplishment!! I have only been walking so far. But, I have gone from being winded walking to the car to walking daily. My goal is 7000 steps a day and my nsv was on Wednesday of this week when my step count was 10625. Quite a victory for me. By the way, I just turned 59 so we can do it.
  2. I rode rollercoasters all day yesterday. It was an awesome NSV!
  3. I'm sitting here in tears writing this....I just took a shower and was getting dressed when I decided what the hell, why not try on a pair of jeans from freshman year of college. I pulled them up thinking "there's not a snowflakes chance in hell these are going to fit." Yet, they slid up and buttoned EASILY! I'm fitting into a juniors size 13!!!!!! AHHHH!!!! Holy.shit. (can I say that on here? If not I'm sorry mods!) I think I peed myself a little! I'M NOT PLUS SIZED ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!! I may have done a stupid booty dance in front of my full length mirror...but if anybody asks me about it I'll deny deny deny . Can I just say something? I LOVE MY SLEEVE! From size 22 to 13 in just over 2 months. Not too bad for a girl who weighed over 250 D.O.S. Love you all! <3 B.

    September Bandsters

Wom, Mim, great loss for the week! I know the fill has been a little challenging, but it sure is great the see the results! lisalee, I know what you mean about NSVs. They are really much more important than a number on the scale. Just knowing that I'm making progress has taken a load off my shoulders. I think I was in a low-level depression for many months (years?), and I've pulled out of that. I don't know if it's the weight loss, the fact that I'm getting better nutrition, or a combination of both, but it seems like my mind is clearer, colors brighter, and it seems a little easier to face problems and stop procrastinating. Mom, I'm down 2 more pounds this week. Good luck to all of you for a great week! Tami

    Favorite Milestones So Far?

NSV's wrapping a bath towel around my small body sitting in the middle seat on the airplane or booth in restaurant certain body parts no longer hurt or have improved doing a double take past a mirror in Kohl's, is that really me?? not running away from the camera confidence to go out and about don't feel "everyone" is staring at me & my weight now if they stare, it's because i'm cute as a button!!! not having to use handicap public toilet saying good-bye to plus size clothes phew, this is an add on during my 720 minute allotted time!! doing volunteer work is a BIG BIG NSV for me being in the public around 100's of people in a hospital i would never have done that before WLS losing weight does NOT fix all evils/problems but it doesn't hurt!! i still can't play the tuba!! but i never could why would i want to?? LOL consolidate all my NSV's........... i am healthier and happier than i would have ever dreamed possible life is good one day at a time kathy

    NSV!!!!

Hey everyone. I hope that y’all are doing good. So the other day, my little girl came to give me a hug. I was standing at the time and all of a sudden she got really excited and said “mommy, I can put my arms all the way around you now”!!!! It might be dumb to some but it made me so happy and I had to hide my tears from her! Also, tonight!!!! I took a very comfortable bath for the first time in a very looonnnng time! Before, I couldn’t even sit comfortably in the tub.

    May Bandsters~March Chat!

Well folks my weightloss hasn't been as great as ya'll but I have to tell you I had a (for me) huge NSV yesterday:scared: . I was able to work in my garden with my DH and do everything I wanted to do. :heh: Now granted I have lost about 30 poundish in weight:omg: . But it has already impacted what I am able to do in my daily activities.:clap2: It is really amazing.:girl_hug: TTYL. Myra

    August Band Crew!!!!!

Texas Princess....NSV is "Non-Scale Victory".. .. for example, I'm really looking forward to being able to cross my legs at the knees again. That will be a big red letter day for me. It's fun to be able to look forward to or celebrate the non-scale victories with people who "get it". (that would be us, lol) Denise...Welcome to the August Bandsters. Only SEVEN days to go. Woohooo.
  10. A year ago I went to Vegas and didn't have such a great experience. I hurt walking, couldn't take the heat, etc. Then I go back exactly one year later, which was 7 months post op, and had the time of my life!!!! I never had to open a door, I was complimented all the time, had an amazing time in the night clubs where I was invited with no cover and free drinks. That would have NEVER happened a year ago. I can't wait to go back!!!! Very grateful for my gastric sleeve and the opportunity to live life to its fullest!!!!

    November Bandsters!

I'm battling that right now. 3 ccs was too much (4 cc band) and even liquid struggled to get through. I've got 2.5 cc now and as long as I behave myself and chew, chew, chew, I'm fine. Like many, I've eaten on the run and on the go. To me eating was a sprint, not a marathon. I rarely have a day where I don't have something stuck. Somedays are better than others. Some days, it seems like every meal, I have an issue. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not, but I've always had the ability to vomit on command. Even as a baby, I'd have "projecticle vomiting" out of the bassonette. When something is stuck, I simply "dislodge" it and move on. It's easier than putting up with the pain. Now if I could just convince myself to slow down. I'm getting better and it's happening less frequently, but still more often than it should. I can tell as soon as I swallow that it's going to be an issue. Sometimes, I can feel it going through, ableit painful, others, I need to remove it. On the positive side, last week was a good week scale wise. I only made it to the gym once but I did LOTS of work on the barn so did get plenty of exercise. The scale was down 5 pounds since last week. I'm now down 47 pounds in 17 weeks. I'm 18 pounds from my original goal but I think I need to reset that. I'm in the top size slack I wanted to be but I still see WAY too much of me. I figured with my body structure, which is large framed, I couldn't get much lower than a 38 waist slack. Rethinking that now that I'm there. And another NSV. I had to buy new underwear and I bought L. Not only not multiple X's, no X at all! Maybe I'll switch from boxer briefs to thongs! Tom

    November Bandsters!

Tom, Congrats on your NSV!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Are you sure your fill is not too tight? How long does it take to get where you can eat mushies and solids without PB'ng? I am a bit nervous about getting my first fill in february

    November Bandsters!

Hi Ladies!!! Welcome to everyone new! Just wanted to let you know I've updated the list. It now contains our new members: Lois Lane, CJay and Sunsreturn!!! And, I updated AngelaT's stats to show her loss!!! YEAH!!! And, I don't know how I missed this...Karen's 5lb loss as well!!! YEAH!!!! I also added Jess02's stats.... "Lil" Red's I took care of on the first day... Okay, as for me...nothing new, just holding steady - trying not to give into the last supper syndrome - and ready to cheer each of you on as your day arrives! Oh, I do have an NSV...maybe if I post it, I'll hold true to it...I've given up fried french fries...okay, I've given up french fries for now. Period. One day, when I can trust myself not to over indulge, I might add back in baked fries. Potatoes are my "mortal weightloss" enemy. One day, I will completely overcome them. __________ Chris
  14. I never set official goals, but I did not look at the long-term either. I suppose my next goal was also the next pound. I celebrated every pound down and I still do! It is most definitely the small victories and our NSV's that make this journey not only possible but enjoyable as well.

    NSV=non scale victory.
  17. This is a weird one, but I can link it directly to the surgery. I used to bite my nails. I had gotten it a bit under control, but still had issues. Now I'm not biting my nails, because I don't want to accidentally swallow a sharp bit and maybe hurt my sleeve!

    Marchies In April

Janine: Ketosis is when your body starts burning fat for fuel INSTEAD of Carbs/Sugar....... (It is a joyous place to be even though the breath that comes with it is BAD! LOL) Thanks for answering Tracey - I'm in such a different time zone that I easily miss posts. Once you are in this mode Janine, your appetite really does decrease & that is what Optifast puts you in. Well, day 8 post op for me & every day is certainly getting that bit easier. The port site is still very tender as is sitting upright for any length of time, but I'm basically back into regular routine. Had my first NSV today too! Jeans seem to be the flavour of the moment, & when I got out of the car today with my 14 year old daughter, she exclaimed "Mum!!! Your jeans are so baggy!" Love it!!!! I've nearly worn through the knees too, so am hoping to drop a size before I have to get new ones. Mind you, I probably have some now pretty out of date ones in the next size down in my wardrobe somewhere:rolleyes Now my turn for questions: I mentioned n my last post that I found out at my post-op appt that I already have 3cc in my band - is this something unique to New Zealand, or have others surgeons done this too? Also, I'm very tight in the chest of a morning (think this is also exasperbated by sleeping on my back all night) - it takes a few hours for me to feel normal - is this the case for everyone? Have a great day Marchies! Cate

Tracy, I bet some of your surgeon's patients are not too happy about that (not you of course;))! It's probably for the best! I think the pre-op diet really prepares your body for what's to come after surgery! Magnolia, It wouldn't hurt to ask...all they can do is say no! SGDodge, sounds like you had a fun day! I think I am going to have a pampering day tomorrow! cate, Congratulations on your NSV! I also have some smaller sized out-of-date jeans in my closet...I guess that means I can go shopping! Also, I don't think it's very common, but I have heard of a few people who had fluid put in their band at surgery. If I recall correctly, they were banded in Mexico. Josie, I am glad you are doing well! I also have a problem not paying attention to what I am eating. I have a habit of eating when I am sitting at this darn computer! :biggrin1: Kyethra, I hope you are feeling better soon! Mrs. Husker, I know exactly how that feels. I had my gallbladder removed some years ago and it can be very painful. Have you thought about having it removed? I have read that alot of lapband patients eventually have to have it removed. Have a Great Day Everyone!

    Indiana Sleevers

I felt the same way when mom bought me a size L old navy sundress as an incentive. I figured I'd try it on to gauge how much more weight I'd have to lose to wear it and it fit! A large! Not a XXL or XL but a large! Which is probably the smallest size I'll ever wear in tops. My grandma passed on her chest size to me, even at my smallest Mediums felt like a corset on my tatas Congrats on the NSV! Personally, I find those way more gratifying than the scale
  23. I am so happy to know that it is possible to meet Protein intake without shakes or drinks. I hit 63gr today normally I will drink 2 shakes a day for the 60gr and any protein from food was a bonus. Sorry just had to share with others that would understand, my boyfriend just looked at me with a blank face like I was a nut when I got excited over this. The last time I got this excited was when I realized I had a collar bone ( My first NSV) Happy New Year everyone!!! ( I know I am a little early)
