    Day 10

I think this is the best place to vent. Most all bandesters go through this hell. The liquid faze whether before or after surgery is HARD. Our minds always think of food, the TV shows all that we are missing, it's plain hard. I too am about 10 days out and can't wait till real food is back on my list of approved foods. Although I am not looking forwrd to the PB that may come. I hope I can remember small small bites and chew chew chew.
  2. Hey! I got banded last tues... (11/10/09) I did good on the next day. But then yesterday I felt awful! nauseous, & stuck. This morning I felt a bit better, but then when I started to drink down the liquids, I started to feel the same way as I did yesterday- stuck. Felt like there was no air in my stomach, it made me nauseous & dizzy! I called my nurse, she kept saying keep drinking - you need 64 oz of liquids a day... I cant keep drinking if I feel like throwing up did you go through this in ur first week? what do you suggest? thanks!

    nauseous, dizzy & stuck?!

I have to wonder if they prefilled your band some....please ask that question. Weigh yourself tonight and tomorrow and if you lose 2 more pounds from vomitting please go to the ER or call your surgical on call service. In the meantime, sugar free jello and popsicles count as liquids and try to keep drinking even if it is a spoonful every 10 minutes. Best wishes and let us know how you do. Mimi
  4. Well, we did it, Dr. Seger and I. He'd had a tough time without my help. I went in at 10:00 AM and got to my room around 12:15 PM. I spent two nights in the hospital enjoying the best care a person could possibly get. I started this journey at 335 lbs and today weighted in at 299. I'm in the middle of my clear liquid diet and am doing well. I've had two total knee replacements in pervious years and can already feel the releif the weight loss is bringing to my joints. I am a diabetic and have not needed insulin at all since two days prior to going into the hospital; because of the pre-surgery weight loss diet. If you haven't already figured it out, I am excited about my future weight loss and I am happy to be on this journey with you all. One final note, a thank you to Forensikchic for her conviencing talk at the seminar I attended and her more recent encouragements.

    SURGERY DATE!

I was also sleeved 10/15/2014. I am doing well. I have lost 24 pounds in four days. With pre op and post op diet I have lost 40 pounds. How are you?
  6. So I seem to be losing 10 pounds a month (including my preop diet). I started at 240, so not too terribly high, but I'm out three full months now and only down 42 pounds. I need to be down another 18 pounds by the end of september to be ready for my breast reduction/lift and I'm so nervous! I have been running 3-9 miles a week trying to push it so hard but the slowing down is killing me. I'm trying to remember that it's not just weight, but measurements and muscle. I lost 6 inches in my waist last month so i know I'm shifting weight to muscle, but it's hard not to feel discouraged. pics attached, first one in black outfit is before, then suit jacket and animal print recent pics How is everything going for my fellow April sleevers?!!?!?!? Before surgery After Surgery
  7. I'm 9 days after getting my band. Liquid only diet. So far, as pretty much anyone would on liquid only, I've lost 10 lbs., but I lost that in the 1st 5 days...nothing since. I was hoping it would be more. Am I being unrealistic? No fills yet, and my 1st post-op appointment with surgeon is tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    100+lbs lost

Very nice and flat stomach. Glad you like the results. I also had a tuck done last year, and am happy with it. I must say it was a bit painful in the first 10 days though!! In the end. Totally worth it. Hope you also feel the same .

    How Soon?

My doctor said I had 'plastic surgery type incisions' and that I could swim in 10 days. But to be safe, 2 weeks.
  10. This is not an original recipe, but when you get to have meat or even puree, this might work for you... It'll easily feed 6 people. 60 if they are all sleeved HAHAHA cut up a 3 lb cut of pork (I use pork loin because its leaner) rub with 1 Tbspn of Hawaiian Red Sea Salt (you can find this at places like Trader Joes...and if not, Kosher Salt makes a decent substitute) Rub with abt 1 Tbspn of liquid Smoke (I like the smokey flavor, so usually double that amount for us) 1/2 Cup Water Put it all in a crock-pot and cook on high for about 8-10 hours. Then using 2 big forks, shred the pork and let it rest in the juices. I usually serve this over Trader Joes Brown Jasmine Rice with some sauteed cabbage (and if I'm lazy, I buy a bag of coleslaw shreds to saute and use that!). I made this for my family this week and ended up really grooving on the pulled pork. I shredded it very finely for myself and then chewed well. YUM!
  11. I have a few questions. I was an original sleeve patient in November of 2011. I had a severe stricture that was finally corrected with a bypass in August of 2012. I had lost 110 pounds. Scale finally kinda quit moving but ok with that I guess. I was at an ideal weight and had lost all "my girls"! LOL. My sweet husband agreed and paid for me to have a breast augumentation Thursday of last week. The scale gained almost 10 pounds. I know those silicone implants did not weigh 10 pounds. Help! What happened? I haven't felt real well or ate a whole lot since that surgery Thursday. Any idea where that weight came from ? How to get rid of it? I can't exercise for a week or so. Anyone else experienced this ? Help I'm struggling.

    Banded and waiting!

Hi Elizabeth! Welcome to LBT! First I just want to say well done with the first 10 lbs! It is still a lose. Dont be to hard on yourself. If you have been exercising, you could have lost inches and gained muscle. So it is not that you havnt lost weight. Try messuring yourself as well... It may be just that. Also, I visit Scotland about every 18 months or so. Love it there. Please keep us posted with your progress, or if you ever just need support! Take Care!

    Gastric Bypass recovery

I am taking 4 wks in total but only bc my job is very physical. I am 10 days post op and if I had a desk job I could be back at work. I will say though that while I feel ok, I am glad to be home and on my own schedule to get the eating, timing, drinking, and exercise routine down pat.

    Nervous about procedure

Make a list pros and cons and really think about the benefits of the surgery and If u have any health problems that surgery will benefit you. I also backed out of surgery a year prior to my surgery. I had never had surgery and was scared to death about it an now even though I had gotten a leak and 1 surgery turned into 4 I highly regret that I didn't have my surgery sooner. It was the best decision I made. 10 months post op and down 92 pounds. Good luck

  17. And that's 10 lbs since surgery! Its awesome that I've hit my first 10lb milestone but is this too fast? Should I be losing this quickly?
  18. Thank god I've been doing soo soo good! I even went back to work on Monday and during lunch I go the mall and walk for an hour. I've been drinking lots of water and I don't have to sip.. I can actually drink a lot. Today I decided to go the gym and I only went on the treadmill for 50min and lost 200 cal. Tomorrow I see my but for the first time after surgery. I hope he lets me starts my second phase since I've been doing so well. If not, I can still wait till Monday ... I am so motivated to lose weight and of course heal... I even motivated my co-worker who is struggling to lose weight to go the gym makes me feel good.

    Lapband Plication Newb

Wow! Thanks for the update. And a job well done to you! I did my band/plication in July of 2011, and have lost 110 lbs. since then. I had my gallbladder removed at the same time and had my severe hiatal hernia fixed as well--not fun, but looking back, I have no regrets whatsoever... I started at 253 and I'm down to 143 now which is about 10 lbs. below my goal. Again, great job & thanks for the update!
  20. I'd go see a new doctor who has fluroscopy and barium and get my fills from someone who knows what they are doing.. That's nuts that you are a year into this without decent restriction. I go to mexico for my fills but i live in california. I had 2 fills and I"m 8cc in a 10 cc band. I'm tight but not excessively.. warm tea opens the band most times if i really feel too tight. but the bottom line is i was banded feb 9 this year.. have lost 40 pounds.. and don't see any reason not to get to goal by september 5th ( my birthday)..

    Day 10

This is all new to me. I am hoping by keeping this journal I will be able to stay on track. I have been banded 10 days now. Basiclly, I feel good. Usally I'm alway on the go but now I get tired very easily - have been needing naps. Incisions are 99% healed and the port area is the only place that's tender. I still get shoulder pains though. I'm able to eat now and that scares me. I am only 10 days and can eat almost normally just less of it. Does this mean soon I will eat more and more and MORE....... Today, I was at a meeting where I ate lasagna, bread and brownie. :think I feel guilty and horribe!
