What to pack for the hospital
Arabesque replied to deannaserio9696's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
An extra pair of pjs, or sleep wear, & knickers in case you have to stay an extra day or accidents. (At my hospital they make you shower & put on your own pjs on the second day.) My friend swears by incontinence pad knickers. Not for incontinence but for the not uncommon & totally unexpected attacks of diarrhoea. As her surgeon warned her: you may think you’re about to pass wind but it will be way more than that (apologies if tmi). Non slip slippers or slides for your laps around the ward. I couldn’t stand anything pressing against my incision wounds so soft waisted pants/skirts that you can fold down at the waist to wear home or a dress. Good luck. -
I'm 6 weeks out. How many of you gastric bypass people dump?
Jolisue replied to brown eyed gal's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I dump! ???????? However, my issue seems to be diarrhea without all the heart rate increase, cramping, etc. I have had a really hard time, and get stuck in a cycle, almost like IBS. Sorry for the TMI, but I would love to know if there are others out there like me. -
I am having pain that seems to sit below my tummy. It is central and forward (maybe on the forward). It is at a point that I feel it most when I am sitting upright at work, and the longer I go (sometimes) the more it seems to hurt...it is being accompanied by nausea but not alot of throwing up. I have been keeping a spanky on during the day to keep me from jiggling as bad when I am running around the warehouse...but it isnt exceptionally tight. I am not trying to shape, just hold in. It seems to be relieved when I can get off my feet and stretch out, or have a more substantial BM (sorry TMI I knowwww). What could this be? Anyone else with similar symptoms care to relate what it turned out to be? It is seriously beginning to affect my day. I have been at work today and between fidgeting and trying to be even somewhat comfortable, and in the bathroom feeling like I am going to throw up, I have got almost nothing done

Yep, I believe that was the purpose, it gave you a little added extension. I was constipated (I know, I know...TMI) for 3 weeks after my surgery so I never needed them.

dwrd, so glad to "hear" from you! Really glad that you and your wife are home and doing well. I have been hit and miss the last couple of days too. Had to go to the main August list to find out if you'd posted yet! Was starting to worry! The gas has been bad but not toooooo unbearable but the constipation, I never took into account. Sorry, TMI but it's kinda the biggest problem I have at this point! LOL!! Take care and hang in there. Do you two have someone at home helping you?

I’m 3 weeks out and craving fruit so badly. How far out did you start eating fruit and what did you choose? My other issue is that I’m not pooping at all (TMI, I know) and I feel like fruit might help that along. I’m taking Linzess and drinking a laxative tea with no results. I have a bottle of mag citrate, but I’m trying to avoid it.

I officially vomited before I finished my food. I am 2 months out and I have never fully vomited. I spit up and I get slimmies but today I full on barfed. The only thing I have done differently today is skip lunch. I just forgot to eat lunch. When I came home, I had 2-3 oz of pork loin (very tender-I've ad it before) 1 oz cole slaw (also had it before). This is weird. I feel fine. Not sure if it was because I skipped lunch. Anyone have any thoughts?

I always keep my food logged at sparkpeople.com and am noticing that I'm not getting much fiber at all. I'm on a 1000 calorie a day diet with 2 protein shakes and one meal consisting of a lean protein and vegetable. Last night, I had the Bird's Eye Normandy Blend with a sirloin steak. The veggie mix had broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, squash and zucchini. I still only ended up with 2 grams of fiber. The previous day had 3 grams. I'm sorry this is TMI, but I'm starting to notice the lack of fiber in the bathroom. I was wondering if we are supposed to avoid fiber, or should I be taking a fiber supplement? I have not seen my nutritionist yet, but I want to nip this before it gets bad.

@@tiger1961 , when are you doing your bowel prep (taking the laxative)? You are scheduled for Monday, right? Just wondering. I have to fly to Mexico on the 3rd for my surgery on the 4th and do not want to be having diarrhea on the plane. Sorry about the TMI, but just getting a bit anxious about that part.

Ok, I know that this will be TMI but just remember you asked! 😂 As others have stated at 3 months out you should be cleared for just about anything. Keep in mind if you are drinking/eating only 600 calories a day your body is will be consuming more than than to run every day. Its the waste that ends up coming out of the other end, so if you are drinking most of that 600 calories then not much is going to come out the back end. I will say that I am usually eating about 16-1800 calories per day and I typically "go" once per day if that. I have actually started taking several things in order to keep things moving. I take several of those per day as well as several psyllium pills. Please refer to your surgeon for the psyllium, some say its ok and some say no, my surgeon said it was fine and I currently take 3-4 pills daily and they simply work. The only concern is making sure that you drink enough water as the fiber in the pills tends to absorb water which can be bad if you do not drink enough water when you take them. I am over a year out and even though I eat plenty of salad, fruit and veggies I still have issues. I also drink well over 100oz of water every day so I am getting plenty of hydration.

Why Liberals are Right to Hate the Ten Commandments
Lap_dancer replied to leatha_g's topic in Rants & Raves
Do you REALLY want someone to call Kenneth Star? That was so messy. Besides, is that really what will make or break them in the Oval Office doing their job? There are just some things you shouldn't know about a person (TMI). -

In my 5th week, on solids, but still having loose BM!
mistysj posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry if this is TMI. I have had very loose stools the whole time. At first it was blamed on the swallow test drink. Then it was blamed on the liquid diet. But it persisted through purée and now that I'm on solids it's still happening twice or three times a day. Doesn't seem to matter what I eat. I'm actually getting less than 10 grams of Fiber a day. I'm afraid to have more because it might make it even worse. It's embarrassing as hell in public bathrooms. This has really been my only unpleasant symptom. I have only been on solids for two days. Is there hope that this will stop? Should I be worried? I am not a worrier by default and so far I have just toughed it out. But come on. I envy those who have the other problem. At least you can just take something for that. -
I'm sorry to keep talking about this, but even if nobody answers I don't have a lot of friends to talk to and it helps to get it out So I've posted before that I'm getting divorced. Recently my husband told me that a big part of the reason for him was that we were sexually incompatible (why didn't he say anything years ago?) One of the things for me was that some of the things he wanted to do I was uncomfortable with but I tried..some of the things I just didn't like or didn't feel good. Recently he started saying things like "well most people like this" or "normal people enjoy this". No matter how many times I would say "well I'm not 'most people' i'm me" he never got it and kept pushing. Fast forward a little bit and I found out that he was talking to a friend of his often about sexy time...and this friend...well she is a topless burlesque dancer, has a husband but sleeps around with tons of other guys and has been pushing him to date one of the other girls they are friends with. I have nothing against the way she lives her life, but I think it's fair to say that her idea of what is "average" sexual "normal" probably isn't what most people would agree with. I mentioned that to him and he didn't understand at all what I meant last night he also told me that he had invited this girl that he likes over for dinner and was going to cook for her. He also didn't understand when I told him that sounded like a date...and he told me he didn't want to think about until the divorce was final. Also he didn't understand how another friend that he's known since he was a kid made him dinner and that wasn't a date, but cooking for the girl he has a crush on is a date. I've also been finding it so hurtful that this girl he wants to date has some of the same habits and characteristics that he said he hated in me

Today I honestly questioned if I have some type of undiagnosed mental condition. I've been paranoid all day to the point of tears. I woke up thinking OMG I hope I don't have blood clots in my legs. I felt like I couldn't breathe. My body was tired. I thought maybe I was drinking to much. I sucked down a warm 12 ounce cup of decaf lemon green tea with no problem. Of course it gave me the "RUNS" (TMI) but my sleeve tolerated it and didn't fill up. I was worried half the day I had broken my sleeve. I also felt dehydrated. When I wasn't going through my psychosis I was sleeping. SMDH I made myself get out of the house and the fresh air helped to clear my head. I went to GNC and Target. I pushed myself to get out of the car. My body didn't want to do it. In Target I was sweating profusely and winded. My youngest son was with me and was very good with asking me if I was okay, By the time we got home I felt so much better. I truly believe we need to get out of the house after sugery. I walked my first and second day post op but hadn't been back out. It's so important to try to normalize your life after sugery or you just might go crazy!

After 12 years of marriage, of course breaking up is difficult. It sounds, though, as if he's the one who's divorcing while you're hanging in for the long haul. His sexual appetites cover more territory than yours and you made it known all along. Whatever he things will change for him when he's with other women has nothing to do with you. So, yes, TMI, but it's his doing, not yours by posting. Tell him to talk about it elsewhere instead of implying that you're inadequate and unsuited to a prize such as he..

Where Have You Noticed Your Weight Loss First? :)
Fiddleman replied to N/A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In addition to face, stomach, arms, chest and feet, i have also noticed inner thighs are practically gone, making it easy to drop things through the legs. May be TMI, but my existing underwear has turned into a tent because my behind has flattened and waist and upper leg area has shrunk so much (in just 3 months). My twin brother is currently 10 lbs less than me, but i already look much smaller then him, he is considered overweight, but pretty normal for a guy that is almost 40. -
Thank you all for your support. I appreciate it. I thought that we were stronger than that. I had suspicion that she was self-absorbed. I was the supporter. I helped her graduate college and did the sleeve research. When I got home (warning....>TMI moment approaching) from the hospital on Saturday night all she asked me was when I can return to work and can I still have intercourse now. I was very pissed but so weak I couldn't mount any response. In my head I was disgusted with her. Now there wasn't or shouldn't have been a drop in income as I worked twice as many hours prior to surgery to compensate for being out the two weeks I was. The surgeon said wait a few weeks for intimacy and she was there. I just had major surgery and she's being awfully selfish. Now when her time comes I am supposed to be a freaking support system. Why? I'm not getting anything from her that I need. If there were issues before my surgery I sure wish she'd have said something. This stress isn't very helpful...

Its a show on the Travel Channel that stars Adam, a food challenger that travels the US taking food challenges. Like. 4 lbs buger with 2 lbs of fries that he has to finish in 30 minutes. Or finishing 50 super hot wings in 30 minutes. Ot how bout the 6 lbs of deep fried turkey nuts he eats in 60 minutes? Today I saw him finish a 9 lb steak platter in 1 sitting. He's successful in about 90% of the challenges. It grosses me out, makes my tummy hurt, but at the same time it pulls me in. He's a little chubby but by@no means obese. Not sure if he eats at any other time. I ate about 2 oz too much last nite and paid for it on the toilet (sorry, tmi). I can't imagine finishing 9 lbs of food. Can u imagine? Toward the end of any challenge, u see him getting a little sick, mouth start watering, sweating. Not sure if he ever vomits (of course it never shows that part). I think my tummy would rupture at about 1/10th of his challenges. And I'm being totally serious when I say RUPTURE. Anyone else watch this show? Like I said, it makes me cringe, sometimes making my stomach turn but it always pulls me in....

Nervous...first burp/choking incident.
NancyNC posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 12/23 and so far so good until this morning. I was getting ready for work (first day back) and I got choked on some phlegm/slime stuff (sorry, tmi). I just coughed very hard and gagged, never threw up, nothing to throw up probably cause I am still on liquid phase. I am nervous about damage, slipping to the band. I feel like I have a precious, delicate implant and am now nervous to cough/gag. -

Help after Dumping still sick 20 hours later
NewWorldMe posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yesterday I had a dumping incident after eating a bit of spicy Indian chicken to fast. It was about 30 grams. I became violently ill and (tmi) I felt like my stomach and intestines were being torn in half. This was 20 hours ago. Today i cannot hold anything down. Protein shakes, protein yogurt, protein crackers, rice cakes (advised by my nutritionist) come back up. I am only able to tolerate 0% sugar applesauce and water. Has anyone experienced this? Has anyone experienced not having a sufficient amount of protein. How negative can this impact my weightloss?
