Questions about your experience with the Sleeve
YeahOkay31 replied to KymmerShimmer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1. What made you choose the Sleeve over the Lap Band? Lap bands have a lot of long term complications 2. Have you had Hair loss with the Sleeve? Yes. 3. What can you absolutely NOT eat now with the Sleeve? Salmon, Tuna 4. At what point did you know you made the right decision with the Sleeve surgery? Less than 4 months out, so no verdict yet, but I am down 66 pounds already since surgery. 5. What as been the best tool you've used in keeping your weight loss progressing? The sleeve itself. Not so much the limiting capacity because you can still graze--but most of the time, I am just not hungry, And a scale. People love their NSV and more power to them--but numbers don't lie. The scale will always keep you honest. -
JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

My first NSV - wearing a pair of shorts I couldn't get on at the start of summer! -
Okay, so I didn't make my Christmas Challenge goal, which was 280 pounds. But, I'm at 281.2 as of this morning, so I'm pretty happy. I lost 18.8 pounds rather than the original 20. I'll take it and happy dance some more. I did, however, lose 1 and a half pants sizes during the last month(ish) and I'm down 2 shirt sizes! Those are awesome NSV's even if I missed by a tad on the scale!

*Gasp!* We lost over 300 pounds in May!! Awesome job everyone!! :clap2: Congrats on your NSV, Feel2Young2B40! That must be an awesome feeling, but I also understand the fishbowl thing. Hold your head up high and be happy! These people are noticing good things. What a change from people looking and thinking the opposite, right?! Ok, Lianna... you twisted my arm. There will be 5 pt bounses for each perfect WEEK in June's challenge. Cool.

The NSV's are the best. I am 7 weeks out and have lost 31 pounds, post op. But, I went from a 2-3x shirt to a loose(not falling off) x large. My pants (that have remained after disposing too big's) are still bigger than I'd like. Pants went from a 24 to a 20 (maybe 18, if I have an elastic waist).

Hello! I should be getting sleeved by mid-March. I am excited and nervous. Can some of you please share two things with me: 1. What (if any) complications did you have and were they remedied? 2. Any NSV's you have had and about how long into the process you had them?
-
I think in the next week we should start our post op page. That way once someone finishes surgery they can move over to the post op page! Also, what is everyone's goal for after surgery? What size/weight do you hope to end up as? What are some nsv's do you hope to accomplish?

NSV for sure! Atta girl!

Good for you!! Think that should be an NSV. Actually forgetting to be buck naked for weight

OMG....got such a laugh! Congrats,Taking! What is nsv?

Poor Kitty Cerrin . . . but YEA FOR YOU!!!!! That has to be the BEST DAMN FEELING! I've been pretty much stalled all month . . . but was able to put on some 20 capri's my dil had . . . that ZIP and BUTTON instead of elastic . . . that is HUGE for me . . . (just wish I didn't hate capris!) I'm going on a cruise to Alaska in May . . . and my mom just shipped me a vest she had . . . its beautiful tan suede . . . and I can wear it like it is . . . BUT I now have motivation to get busy losing again because I WANT to be able to zip it . . . not just have it handing loose. All these NSVs are great everyone! Keep them coming!

Good going Chris. I thought I was the only one that had to go shopping in my own closet for new clothes. I have been doing that since the beginning - rediscovering old clothes from up to 15 years ago. That's pants mainly. Drum roll, please. My NSV occurred last week. I fit in the airplane coach seat and the seat belt fit with room to spare. No more seat belt extenders for me. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh. I have been using one for almost 10 years. I was and am still so excited. I have been gaining and losing the same two pounds for 3 weeks now but I do notice that the inches are melting off anyway. I get my fill at the end of next week which will be 8 weeks out.

Oh Man! That is the best NSV!! Here are mine: Able to put my shoes on without passing out My pants are almost falling off I am wearing a shirt today that I haven't worn in 7 years I can now shop at other stores besides Catherine's and the Avenue (other stores didn't go above size 28) I walk longer without gasping for air My friend hugged me and said she has never gotten her arms that far around I went for my 2nd fill and found out I lost 13 lbs since the beginning of January! Can't wait to get on that airplane and try that damn seatbelt!!

Great NSV many more to come.

So I have lost 36 pounds (pre-op diet included) so far and today I went to get my shoes on. Usually with sandals that you have to fasten, I would struggle to put on because my big stomach would get in my way... well today... I did it! There was still some discomfort because I'm no where near my goal, but man did it feel nice to be able to have more breathing room to fasten and buckle the sandals without losing my breath! I don't ever want to be where I was again! It can only get better from here on out! Can't wait for the changes ahead. Just wanted to share with ya'll. May be simple but it surely was exciting for me!

simple or not, NSVs are great. congrats and here's to more of them!

Mamato - Congrats on the 20 minutes. You girls (and Whosya) talk about your speeds. I run outside, I have no idea how fast (or slow) that I run. I am just focusing on doing the time. I am probably a turtle compared to you hares. NSV - A couple months ago I challenged my son to 500 steps on the elliptical machine. (I knew he would beat me and he did.) I went first and it took me 12:04. I thought I would die, I was huffing and puffing and sweating. Tonight after church I decided to do a few minutes on the elliptical machine (I missed my run today - work and church) So anyway, I did 500 steps in 5:45!!!! and was not even out of breath. Couch 2 5K has allowed me to cut my time in half. Now that is a victory!!!! So week by week, we are getting stronger and getting more endurance. On your off day, back up and do a workout from 2 weeks before and see how much easier it is. It is funny how we all moan and groan about how hard the next week is, but our lungs and legs are allowing us to succeed because we are a determined bunch. Thanks for all of your support, I appreciate each one of you.

OMG October 2013 Post-ops
lmgriego replied to DevilBlueDress's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
10 weeks out...52 pounds down. All is going ok. Hard to eat sometimes because I am not ever hungry. My friend said you used to live to eat and now you eat to live. Had the stuck feeling just a couple of times, best thing for me to do is walk it off. It lasts for about 15 minutes. I learned my lesson though...chew chew chew. I never threw up but really wanted to. I miss vegetables and salads. In due time I suppose. No dumping, but I haven't really done anything to tempt fate. No good bread, but I will have an occasional rye krisp or half of a Natures Own thin round, toasted pretty much til its dry and crumbly. I put tuna or egg salad on them. Still supplement with Protein shakes. Keeping up with the Vitamins and Nexium although Calcium is a struggle. I just wish we could take everything twice a day instead of having to space it out. Fluids are a struggle somethimes especially when I get involved at work I lose track of time. To be honest I am not doing much exercise yet except for walking. I do have more energy and don't get winded. NSV...I can cross my legs when I am sitting and the waistband of my jeans just not roll down anymore...lol. I have lost a bra cup size. I'm kinda sad about that...lol. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care and Happy Holidays! Respect the pouch! Respect it!! Lisa -

Phew! I feel better now, I thought it was me but now that I know that it's everybody I fell much better. I know this post will go unnoticed but I am actually having fun, for the first time in my life I feel invisible. I think I am going to log this in my NSV chart. Weight Loss to date all of me -

Here is a fun NSV for me. I got a call yesterday from a company I sent my resume to on Monday and have a job interview tomorrow! I have been out of work for 14 months and it's been 9 years since I was last on a job interview. I pulled out my old work suits and my DH fell over laughing. It looked like I was playing dress up in my dad's clothes. I did finally find a suit in my closet that fits, and the suit jacket is a size 12! I'm going out today to find a top for under the jacket and a necklace to jazz it up a bit. I just can't believe the size 12 jacket fit!!! Wish me luck!

Weirdest things you are looking forward to after surgery
Frustr8 replied to Krestel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And a 1 year after update for you all. I went from not being able to cross my legs, to cross in the shape of a figure 4, well last night I crossed them and I almost make a Roman Numeral I, I used to envy my late father-in- law, a tall thin normal- proportioned Dutchman, cause He Could and I Never Could, well today I CAN and. even wrap one foot around behind the other like I've seen Fox News Ladies do, so their undies aren't in view. Whooee, Yippee Yahoo, I'm almost NORMAL & AVERAGE in appearance, Another NSV that I never planned for, they just keep coming and I πeach and every new thing about ME I FIND!πππ
