    Cooked Rice

1 lb lean ground beef 1/4 cup chopped onion 1 (1 1/4 ounce) package taco seasoning mix 1 egg, beaten 2 cups cooked rice 4 -6 bell peppers 1 (19 ounce) can diced tomatoes 1 (15 -16 ounce) jar salsa shredded cheddar cheese sour cream Directions: Combine beef, onion, seasoning mix and egg in a large bowl. Add rice and mix well. Cut peppers in half lengthwise; remove seeds and membrane. Spread tomatoes on the bottom of an ovenproof 12 X 9 inch baking dish. The liquid from the tomatoes will reduce during cooking so if (like me) you like lots of sauce, add about a cup of Water. This also helps make the peppers softer. Place peppers, cut side up, on top of the tomatoes. Spoon beef mixture into peppers, mounding as necessary. Top each pepper with salsa. Bake in preheated 375°F oven for 40-45 minutes or until beef is cooked thoroughly and peppers are soft. Cover each pepper with cheese and return to oven, under the broiler, until the cheese melts- less than a minute, so watch carefully! Serve with sour cream and additional salsa

My one year banderversary. So pleased with my results. Down 60 lbs. Hope to get another 10 off before my breast lift/augmentation and lipo of my stomach and flanks to get rid of the muffin top. It's been a great ride and I couldn't be happier.

    2 weeks Post op Stall?

Just went through my first stall. Yes it is normal. It's still upsetting. You need to look at the whole picture in two weeks you lost 18#'s. Heck I'm 5 weeks out and I've lost 19 total. Keep doing everything required for your plan. If your following that then you are doing all you can do. The rest is up to your body. Maybe try staying off scale will help.
  5. So, here is the deal and I have read a lot of posts about strictures and I don't think this is the issue, but would love to hear from others. My surgeon used a 54 French bogie. So, that being the case, you would think I would have no issues getting food or Water down. I was sleeved on April 16. I am still struggling with eating and drinking. So far since 7:00 a.m. I have had one 12oz. Syntrax Protein drink made with water and ice. I did not blend the ice, just added ice to keep it cold as it takes me so long to drink it. At 10:00 I was hungry, so I got my tuna with mayo mashed to death out and started to eat it. I have had 3 very small forkfuls, chewed to dust before swallowing and I feel like it is stuck between my throat and my stomach. If I wait 15 to 20 mins, the feeling starts to subside until I decide to take another small forkful and then it starts all over again. I am not vomiting, but I feel like things don't want to pass, or they don't want to pass easily. Has anyone had a stricture or narrowing without vomiting? Do any of my fellow April sleevers feel this way still and maybe my stomach is just not healed yet and is still really swollen? Thanks much. I appreciate it. Karen

    Vitamins?

Hi there, I am still taking multivitamins after 10 months. Calcium is important for everybody - it's not just women who get osteoporosis. Not sure about the vitamin K, best to speak to your Dr.

    Time off after surgery

Hi, Just wondering how much time to expect to take off of work after Lap-Band Surgery. I work a desk job and was planning on being back to work 5 days post surgery. :faint: Is this realistic? I would appreciate any sage advise and personal stories I can get from all of the Banded members! I am scheduled for 4/19/06. Yippie!:nervous Thanks, Jennamoose

    Anybody banded 11/29/2010?

Hi, I was banded on 12/2/2010. I have been feeling good. I had a lot of restriction at first because of the swelling, but not so much now. I go on Jan. 13th for my first fill. I am worried about not having a big change appetite with my first fill. I have lost about 10 pounds post op but it seems to have slowed down. Have you started any exercise yet?
  10. Hi AnneB, I too was banded on 11/29/10. I was given the go ahead to eat solids 3 weeks post op and though I still had no hunger I ate freely the week of Christmas. I had lost about 25 lbs, but gained back about 7 during that week. Luckily I had my 1st fill of 3 ccs on 12/27/10, though I still didn't notice much change in restriction. I recomitted to myself to get back on track and am doing much better. I still don't have any hunger pains which is awesome! My surgeon keeps stressing, don't eat if you aren't hungry, so I eat very little as I am not hungry....ever. I get head hungry and think I want food, but I know it's not my stomach that is hungry so I stay away from the kitchen at those times. I do eat lean meat every few days to get some protein and I noticed that I now have some restriction when I eat it. It took about a week for me to notice any change from the fill. I start Spring classes Tuesday and am looking forward to keeping my mind more on my studies than on food I also will be getting my 2nd fill on Wednesday, so I am curious to see the difference in restriction. I have not weighed myself again since I recieved my 1st fill and am waiting until I go in again Wednesday to see if I am doing better. It's great to talk to someone who had surgery the same day as I did Feel free to message me with any comments or questions. Good luck to you!!!
  11. I'm trying to stay positive.... I mean I'm really TRYING hard to stay positive, but it is so hard. So now I'm up to 9.5 cc's and no restriction. I'm really hungry, in fact I feel as if there is no band. I can eat anything, no issues. I am finding it increasingly difficult to not eat myself into an oblivion. So far it's calorie counting, and battling that constant, nagging hunger, the last thing I want is to regain any of the weight that I have lost. My biggest fear is never getting that restriction. I have to wait another month until I get another fill, and quite frankly I'm running out of room in my band. I'm feeling overwhelmed by feelings of failure and that maybe I'm that person who this will not work for. Most of the time I try not to think like that, but since this last fill not changing anything, it's getting harder and harder to feel good about this process. Anyone else out there been through this?

    Finally surgery on Nov. 19

I finally recieved my date for surgery yesterday, the 19th of Nov. three days before my birthday, Happy Birthday to me. I like this gift but am really scared. Woke up this a.m. and first thing I thought of is "what the hey am I doing, this is so drastic". wish I could do it on my own, but I know I can't, have tried it many times. I just pray I am doing the right thing. I know if I don't do it I won't live to see my grandkids grow up. I am so tired of not be able to do anything because of my weight, and I want to do everything. My husband and I retired and now is the time to play. I can't so I believe I am doing the right thing, we'll see. :mad2:

    Finally

I am so happy finally the day has come. I started the journey February of this year. My insurance require a 6 month medical supervised weight loss program with my PCP. July 10 was my last month. I only had to so 5 because I first went about my weight was October 2013. My PCP office faxed everything to the surgeon office on Tuesday July 16. I was told that it would take about 2-3 wks before I knew it got approved from the insurance. Well I got a called Tuesday July 22 to tell me that it is approve my pre-op is schedule for July 30 and my surgery date is August 11. I have been waiting for this day it kinda a bitter sweet I'm excited and nervous at the same time. All I can say is Wow.

    not staying full

You can also try drinking lots of water and other very low calorie (5 to 10) fluids like Crystal lite. It won't work a long time, but it will help tide you over a little until the next "feeding time".

    2nd fill and really confused

it just depends the fluid doesn't always come back out cause it gets stuck in the tubes. My first fill i had 4 ccs already in and they put in 3ccs that makes 7 right at the second fill they pulled out 6 and put but in 2 so that makes 8 right or 9 cause there is a cc floating around 1 week later i needed alittle pulled out and i was back down to 7 but i felt like i had 10 so i hope this makes sense. It gets stuck or lost and no one really knows where it goes or why it doesn't come out but it doesnt and some how still finds its way to the band its self.

    Calcium Supplements and Eating Dairy

@@Bufflehead thanks for sharing. Great advice as I don't want to live on supplements. Right now my weight is all the load bearing I can handle, but as soon as I get off 50 pounds I plan to expand beyond walking. The doctor believes my knees will hurt less as the weight comes off. Thanks! Banded 10/12/16

    Only one more time

Good luck with your flight! I am not a flyer myself, I flew this past August (3rd time in my life)...I always find religion on an airplane (God and I get really tight from takeoff to landing). Shortgal had a great idea - ask the flight attendent for the extention before you sit down. I asked after the fact - seeing I'd gained about 70 pounds since I flew 10 years ago and literally yelled it out...and the deaf woman couldn't hear me. The lady next to me even shouted it. I was completely mortified - it was not a good experience for me. I wish I'd had pre-planned better. I hope you enjoy the trip and visit with your grandson.

    10-3-2007

I didn't get to ride my bike today....yet. I might try to get it in after hubby goes to bed. I still don't like exercising in front of him. It was a pretty good day. I'm pretty used to not eating much now. In some ways I can see how being on this pre-op diet can be beneficial. Not just because of the weight loss but that when I am banded I'm already used to not eating hardly anything. Here's what I had today: (typical of everyday) whey protein shake 2scoops in 8oz slim milk 2 slimfast shakes (I'm allowed 3 a day but lately have only been drinking 2) 1 1/2 cups broccoli 1 cup butternut squash soup (90 cals) 1 1/2 cups stir fry veggies 1 diet Dr. Pepper That's around 1200 cals. And I'm really not hungry. The first few days of this pre-op diet I ate like three times as many veggies but not anymore. I'm actually not supposed to have soup but I've been eating progresso's hearty tomato and tried this organic squash soup. The squash soup is pretty nasty. I like squash. I've eaten a lot of it the past two weeks but the soup just wasn't right. It smelled like pumpkin pie and tasted like onion, garlic squash. It messed with my senses. I am so ready for my surgery date. Not much longer. I am on the downhill side now at least. Well, Goodnight. Hope everyone is doing good on their journeys!
  20. Ok, so I was banded 10/21 and I have had success. I've lost 62 pounds. But over the last few weeks I've just stayed at my current weight. I work out 3-5 days a week. I've even changed up the routine but no change. Anyone else experience this? This must be a plateau but it is sooooooooo frustrating!!

    7ccs and still hungry!

If the band is supposed to control my hunger then, it's not. Was I not clear in my note? My doctor asks me can you eat a hamburger with bread ( not DID you, COULD you) so that's my benchmark. I can still eat a hamburger if I wanted to which is why I feel something may be wrong. I'm at 7cc and have a 10 cc band.

    Day 10

I think this is the best place to vent. Most all bandesters go through this hell. The liquid faze whether before or after surgery is HARD. Our minds always think of food, the TV shows all that we are missing, it's plain hard. I too am about 10 days out and can't wait till real food is back on my list of approved foods. Although I am not looking forwrd to the PB that may come. I hope I can remember small small bites and chew chew chew.
  23. Hey! I got banded last tues... (11/10/09) I did good on the next day. But then yesterday I felt awful! nauseous, & stuck. This morning I felt a bit better, but then when I started to drink down the liquids, I started to feel the same way as I did yesterday- stuck. Felt like there was no air in my stomach, it made me nauseous & dizzy! I called my nurse, she kept saying keep drinking - you need 64 oz of liquids a day... I cant keep drinking if I feel like throwing up did you go through this in ur first week? what do you suggest? thanks!
  24. Mimilou2004

    nauseous, dizzy & stuck?!

I have to wonder if they prefilled your band some....please ask that question. Weigh yourself tonight and tomorrow and if you lose 2 more pounds from vomitting please go to the ER or call your surgical on call service. In the meantime, sugar free jello and popsicles count as liquids and try to keep drinking even if it is a spoonful every 10 minutes. Best wishes and let us know how you do. Mimi
  25. Well, we did it, Dr. Seger and I. He'd had a tough time without my help. I went in at 10:00 AM and got to my room around 12:15 PM. I spent two nights in the hospital enjoying the best care a person could possibly get. I started this journey at 335 lbs and today weighted in at 299. I'm in the middle of my clear liquid diet and am doing well. I've had two total knee replacements in pervious years and can already feel the releif the weight loss is bringing to my joints. I am a diabetic and have not needed insulin at all since two days prior to going into the hospital; because of the pre-surgery weight loss diet. If you haven't already figured it out, I am excited about my future weight loss and I am happy to be on this journey with you all. One final note, a thank you to Forensikchic for her conviencing talk at the seminar I attended and her more recent encouragements.
