I am 4 weeks and 4 days post surgery and I am also in the group that can eat more than the 1/4 cup of mushy food I should have per meal for certain items. From day one on the full liquids I was allowed yogurt (without any fruit in it) and I could eat the entire 6oz container. I could eat 4oz of cottage cheese or applesauce at a time as soon as progressed to mushy. However, meat definitely has a limit of about the 2 tablespoons they advised for the mushy phase. I have to admit I never puree anything, so it is chopped finely and has broth, gravy or salsa on it to help it go down and I chew each bite for a long time. Perhaps if I did puree it would go down easier. I had some issues in the first week or two with consuming all the Water on top of the two Protein shakes, but that is over. No issues with liquids at all. I have also been worried that my sleeve will not provide the restriction I need. Over the last 10 days I have experienced hunger most days. This is more of a problem when I am at work. I don't get as much sleep as I did before returning to work and I am still trying to figure out how to time my meals, shakes and water to avoid hunger.

I'm 3 weeks out and worried to, even told my surgeon I think he made my pouch too big. He just laughed, and said I should be happy my recovery is so easy. I can finish 24 oz of water in less than 30 minutes, 8 oz protein shake in 15 minutes and have no trouble eating my 1/2 cup of yogurt. Was told to try soft meats so had 4oz of tilapia and 1/4 cup of mashed cauliflower and no full feeling. Not ever hungry but when I'm supposed to eat I do and have no trouble doing it. Not sure if it's because I have carefully measured and not put more on my plate than instructed. Time will tell but so far down 30 lbs including 2 week preop so hopefully the nerves in my new stomach will wake up and provide that stop switch I never had before. Also going to try that slow eating ap, cuz I eat fast and still can do that with the sleeve

It's been 6 months since my original gastric bypass, which I then had reversed to a sleeve about three months ago. I still cannot eat without vomiting and pain. Sometimes, some days, I can do yogurt or a pretzel. I sometimes can handle cheese and Soups. But there are many days I can't. I haven't had more than 300 calories a day in six months. With the sleeve everything hurts and feels like it gets stuck and I have to make myself throw up to feel better. Anyone else experiencing an inability to advance their diet at three months?

I was sleeved on June 20th and I 'think' I am hungry all the time! I don't really know what full feels like? Does chest discomfort mean your sleeve is full??? I get those feelings but my stomach is always growling. I am getting a minimum of 60 grams of protein and 50 ounces of water a day. I am still on liquids so I also eat jello, broth, and popsicles. I have even tried pudding and yogurt! I just feel confused because everyone told me they didn't even want to eat the first week!

Did anyone go in for there first fill and not get a fill?? My nurse told me that I have 3cc residual fluids in my band from surgery already and I was 4 weeks post OP down 25lbs not hungry at all with good when I do eat. still a little nervous eating solid foods so I do protein shakes , fish, Greek yogurt and egg whites with salsa most days .. I'm sure this is completely normal just wanting to see if anyone else had this experience...

Thanks for the quick reply. I am supposed to be on clear, but I thought if I strained off anything remotely solid, it might be okay. I guess that's a cheat. I really don't want to cheat but the yogurt smoothies that I am allowed are good in the morning but just too sweet for night time. Im allowed to thicken up my liquids in 2 days, I guess I'll just have to hang on until then. Marsene

How many ounces are you ACTUALLY eating?
dashofsunshine replied to Afrikanaaa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
18 months out and I max at 4 oz - I can eat 5 oz if it's yogurt (well, some days, lol...). With everything, some days I can only eat less than 4 oz, but I always max out at 4. I get around 900 calories per day and am in maintenance. Good luck! -
I'm only a week post op but I'm going crazy. I haven't eaten regular foods in like 3 weeks, I'm so bored. I'm on the liquids now so I can have soup, yogurt, pudding, applesauce, cottage cheese. I was lactose intolerant before surgery so all this dairy isn't going over well. Any suggestions?
-
My doc said 30 min. and the nurse added that if I'm eating something soft like yogurt, I could actually drink after 20 since the sliding foods don't stay in the pouch as long as solids. I'm also concerned about getting in all my liquids - and drank 8-10 glasses a day before banding while on WW, so it's not as though I never drank much before.

I hated the puréed phase. I felt the same way. Nothing puréed wanted to go or stay down. Turns out, my sleeve hates purée, to this day I can't do it and I'm 1yr out. I ate a lot of yogurt and vegetarian chili that I pulverized with my teeth during the purée stage to get calories in. You're not alone in this.

June 25th sleevers
2notbwinded replied to artymama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
*GASP* That could soooo be it! I was lactose intolerant pre op but because I've yet to find an Organic Lactaid I just dealt with the bathroom runs..... But it makes sense & I never thought to think the lactose affects my body different now....! I will try my children's Almond Milk. They are lactose intolerant as well & since they've been drinking the stuff since I stopped nursing them they actually really like it. I'll see how it goes, thanks! Right now I'm having some white fish I sauteed and mixed with .5oz of yogurt for lunch. So far so good and surprisingly tasty after seasoning it well. -
Unlike you, I had no fear progressing in my diet! I was literally starving on liquids only. However, I had to stay on liquids for 4 weeks. Those first bites of mashed potatoes were heaven. And the refried Beans? Like they were waiting for me their entire life! And the yogurt....need I go on? Part of being banded is trying new things to see what you can tolerate. This is one of those times you have to be open minded and move on from what you're comfortable in. Start really slowly, with maybe 6 little bites, then stop. Next meal, add another bite. 1 can of tomato Soup lasted me 5 meals a day. And a cup of mashed potatoes lasted about 4 meals also. Are you scared it will hurt or that you'll gain what you've lost back? Marci

the last 2 times i hit Mc'd's was when i had my last 2 fills!!! haha i had the yogurt! 2 of them and they were quite tasty! you can also have anything in moderation. for me, i am TOTALLY allowed fast food ( i havent had any except the mc'ds yogurts THIS year) all the criteria HAS to be met: _ dont have time for a sit down place _ STARVING or wont be eating for a long time ...i guess thats the criteria...so it doesnt happen often but when it does i get what i want and just toss the rest! i may have a lot of leftovers but i atleast got to taste what i wanted. i had taco bell though in Nov. on vacation and Hardees in july after a night of drinking to much at a wedding. why does grease cure a hangover? the breakfast item i crave is a egg mcmuffin....its been well over a year since i had one! the thing i struggle with is chocolate :angry i could eat an ENTIRE big bag of kisses RIGHT NOW (or any given moment) i just dont buy chocolate except when i am REALLY wanting it (once a month for 5-7 days haha) and i buy 1 candy bar at a time. any more and i would eat it all.

disneymom1978 replied to Yetta2u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also in the mushy stage and I've been eating yogurt a lot. I've also tried homemade applesauce and for dinner, I'm just eating what I make for my family and mushing it up. I have not tried any red meat as of yet. -

teekii77 replied to MonikaHF's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm think I'll try it with strawberry sometime too. I think they said greek yogurt because I notice its not as much sugar in it as reg yogurt. -
Hi ladies . I was banded in April 2013 and have lost 110 pounds so far. I'm 36 years old, female, starting weight of 326, 5'11 tall. I am far from an expert, but here are a few things that have worked for me: - Warm liquids first thing EVERY morning (I drink plain hot tea. Anything with milk is too thick right away in the morning) - Protein shake mid morning. I can't have a shake any earlier than about 10am or it won't go down well. My band is snug every morning, but loosens throughout the day. - lunch around 1-2pm. I try to have a Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese stick, deli meat. ... something along those lines. I only have about 3/4 c. TOTAL of anything for lunch. The only carby thing I may have is crackers with my cheese (maybe 5 crackers total) or a small fruit cup. - dinner around 6pm. I eat anything I'm in the mood for, with the concentration on protein of some sort. I only eat 1 c. MAX at dinner. If I'm taking small bites and eating slowly I will feel completely satisfied from 1 c. or less. - I try really hard not to snack. Sometimes I fail, but I have definitely learned not to eat anything after about 8pm. I will be uncomfortable and have indigestion if I eat shortly before I lay down. None of this has been easy. I have fallen off the wagon several times, but I think I'm in a great place right now. I do think I've reached the green zone. I've been filled maybe 8 times or so in the last 14 months (I'm guessing but I think that's about right). I was too tight once so they took out a smidgen and I was much better. I've since had that fill put back in and a little bit more and I'm doing great. I know how frustrating it can be to not have your band telling you when you've had enough. Just try your best to follow your Dr's food guidelines in the mean time. I use My Fitness Pal on my phone EVERY DAY to record my food intake. I don't want to underestimate the calories I eat and I want to track my protein to be sure I'm getting enough. Also, I want to have a legit record of my eating in case my Dr wants to look it over. Good luck and don't give up! I hope you both see the weight come off steadily!

How did you know when you were full?
BLERDgirl replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was on full liquids from day 1 so I could have yogurt drinks and smoothies. I felt full almost always and just sipped all day. Once I graduated to purees I found that I needed to stick to the ¼ cup or ½ cup recommended, but minus 2 bites. I would always get full 2 bites shy and at first I was forcing the food in but I would get really full on the verge of discomfort. I didn't want to start any bad habits, so I just started preparing my food minus that those 2 bites. Now I burp right before I am stuffed and I stop. Going past that makes me uncomfortably full. -
Just want a sanity check please

Hey y'all! I am about 3 weeks out and on mushies/softs. I can eat about 2 ounces of yogurt or pudding. I can one tablespoon of mashed potatoes (with cheese and bacon seasoning) or one tablespoon of the eggface ricotta bake at any given time. Does this amount sound right for where I am? Thanks so much! Having A Hard Time With The Words "pureed Food"... Ick!
Ms skinniness replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, you are totally stressing on this! you are not necessarily going to have nausea or that great level of pain after the surgery. The doc will assess and send you home with the necessary meds to assist with any after affects. Just relax, take a deep breath and it will happen and be over with. Take 1 step at a time. I get grossed out with eating pureed food so I didn't. I at a lot of soft foods like yogurt, sf puddings, etc. After the surgery the stomach is so swollen we can't eat that much anyways. Just a couple of bites at the most. Your surgeon's office will give you the stages of food and what you can eat, and what you can't eat. it will be fine. CONGRATS on your decision to join our club. -

My 24Th Day Just Ate Macaronni And Felt So Faint And Sweaty
hamanyq8 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
when i ate i felt so faint and sweaty , i slept all day with no food , i was going to fall until my mother gave me chocolate and yogurt with Water . Can anyone explain this ?? is my stomach leaky ? thanks -
After 3 days I was allowed to move from clear liquids to heavier liquids. Yes, I relied on shakes from time to time, yogurt, cream soups, etc. This was for 4 days, completing 1 full week. Then for week 2 I was allowed to move on to mushies. As far as "gas pains", there appears to be some confusion, or mix-ups. There are 2 different "gas pains", one of which is from the surgical procedure, the other indigestion. Gas-X will not help the surgical procedure type of trapped gas at all.
