I didn't wear any since they made me strip completely for surgery and since my robe covered everything, I didn't bother putting on the ones I packed. Was easier to use the restroom without dealing with panties. TMI I guess but just weighing in

I have been on iron supplements for several days because my hemoglobin is only 10.1, and it needs to be higher prior to surgery. The supplements are making me miserable. I have irritable bowel syndrome and they are giving me a lot of gas, gas pains and pretty bad diarrhea. Does anyone have any recommendations for a different brand or formulation? I am just taking vegetarian tablets from CVS.

Thanks everyone. I can swallow!! I just get full very fast. And I feel like my meds are getting stuck. Or things are just going down slow and I burp up the taste of whatever I drink. Nothing comes up (TMI) just the taste or smell. I've gotta stay hydrated but its hard. SF Popsicles have been great!! And sip sip sip.

I have TMI rant. When you get sleeved, be prepared for your bowel movements to be very loose. It's not pretty.

Lol! I've been on nuvaring for 7 years! It's very effective! My hubby is um.. Gifted? Lol.. And it sometimes comes out depending on the position (lol tmi) but as long as you out it back in within 3 hours its still effective! I'm don't havering kids though, and was considering mire a, but I'm scared of it puncturing something!

Oh Janet...I pray your are feeling better now. What a horrible event to go through... Nothing like experience to be the best teacher. Sushi is acting more like herself today. Her respiration is back down to 20 where the vet wanted it to be. Jack and I are both so happy...she's the baby we dote over now. My bad night was drinking a half of a Protein Shake towards bedtime. I know I am unable to fall asleep when I am hungry. TMI, I stayed awake for 2 hours after sipping the shake. I thought that would be enough time before lying down. About 4 hours later, it was like a PB, and I only made it to the sink. This is all very concerning and confusing to me. It was authentic hunger...and I also feel reflux if I go too long without coating my stomach. Beginning to believe that my time with my band is limited...

I did a really stupid thing..... I got some Dulcolax stool softeners (tmi), don't want to end up in ER impacted and I don't want to take a laxative every day. Makes it hard to go anywhere. Anyways, when I got home with them, I realized they were gel caps and I know they won't go threw without getting stuck. Smart me decided, I'll bite into it and wash the liqiud down with water, like I do with my Tylenol. FYI, do not ever do that!!!! It has burned the crap out of my throat and made any drink or my lunch taste awful. Its been 2hrs and the burning is letting up. But boy, how dumb! I can't imagine how that would feel stuck and disolving around my stoma, ouch. Needless to say, back to the regular laxative.

In my 5th week, on solids, but still having loose BM!
mistysj posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry if this is TMI. I have had very loose stools the whole time. At first it was blamed on the swallow test drink. Then it was blamed on the liquid diet. But it persisted through purée and now that I'm on solids it's still happening twice or three times a day. Doesn't seem to matter what I eat. I'm actually getting less than 10 grams of Fiber a day. I'm afraid to have more because it might make it even worse. It's embarrassing as hell in public bathrooms. This has really been my only unpleasant symptom. I have only been on solids for two days. Is there hope that this will stop? Should I be worried? I am not a worrier by default and so far I have just toughed it out. But come on. I envy those who have the other problem. At least you can just take something for that. -
I am now a master farter!
mistysj replied to AussieLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome. I had hoped this went away when I got to solid food. Not so far. At least they don't have "cargo" like during the liquid phase. I'd apologize for TMI but this whole thread is TMI! -
Has anyone doctor require a laxative day or two before surgery? My doctor has not mentioned it and seems a little weird.

This may be TMI but, I finally pooped!!! Wasn't much but it's a start!!! Maybe everything is waking up finally!!!

Okay, so I'm 7 weeks out, and this is super TMI. About three weeks ago, I started my period; it lasted about three days, which was normal for me. About two days after it was over, it started again, heavier. It lasted about three days, again. Two days after that, it started again, and I'm shocked that I have this much blood in my body. Anyone else going through this?

Lorraine_2013 replied to sissytx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved 5/21 and feeling pretty good. Struggling with life this week as the love of my life has left. Tmi I know but let me tell ya I can't get a thing in and I was rocking this!! I started at 257 and I'm now at 220 so I'm feeling good about being down 37lbs in 3 weeks! Congrats to all and best of luck. -
I finally peed again!!! I'm so relieved!!! Now to try and get some protein in. I also finally farted. Sorry for the tmi. They were way little lame farts but its a start.

I have the stomach flu for a couple of days, and while that sucked, it did make me think that a liquid diet would not be complete unbearable... On the other hand, it was 2 days, not 2 weeks pre/2 weeks post, but hey, I'll take support where I can get it!

Three days post op and needing advice

Hello everyone! Well...I'm officially banded. I had my surgery at 9 Friday morning and stayed in the hospital one night. I was not too excited about that, but now I'm really glad that I did. You know...you read everyone's stories and experiences and you feel somewhat prepared, but it's a whole different thing when it is happening to you. The worst part of everything has been the nausea. Saturday after I got home I felt pretty damn good. Even walked around the block in my neighborhood to help dissipate the CO2, etc. Yesterday (Sunday) was much, much rougher. First of all, I was glued to the toilet all day. People talk about constipation, but I had the complete opposite problem. It would not stop. Sorry for the TMI. As the day progressed, I kept feeling more and more nauseous. Around 8 last night I took another slow walk around the block. It didn't help. Around 9:15, I laid down in bed and immediately began feeling like I was about to throw up which terrified me. My husband helped me sit up very quickly, but by then it was too late. He handed me a cup and I began throwing up foamy water. Less than a 1/3 of a cup total. Of course as soon as I could I contacted my doctor and my doctor's nurse. Both assured me that my band was still secure. That it is repetitive vomiting over time that is the enemy. I felt somewhat reassured, but still cannot shake the feeling that I've messed something up. What is strange though, is that after I vomited, I immediately felt better and haven't had any major nausea since. I was able to sleep through the night with no problems. I can even sleep on my side comfortably which I didn't expect to do this soon. While my doctor was talking to me, he asked me if I had been forcing fluids. He said to not be too worried if you cannot get in the 48 - 60 ounces that the literature recommends. I wish someone had told me this sooner. Yesterday I had 8 ounces of chicken broth, 8 ounces of diet cranberry juice, and probably 12 ounces of water. And getting all that in was a struggle. I didn't want any of it. He also told me not to be too concerned with dehydration because for every pound of fat the body breaks down, it produces a quart of water. Right now I'm using my urine color as a guide. It is still very, very light yellow although I am not going very often. I have to say...last night during all of this, I was experiencing a big "what the hell have I done to myself" moment. Is this normal? Did any of you feel this way at any point? Did any of you experience the nausea and retching that soon after surgery? Any advice is welcome. Thanks. -
How has VSG Affected your Marriage?
tamjo37 replied to GBFree82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It has made our relationship that much stronger. It may be because we both were sleeved 2 weeks apart but we are more in love now than ever. And the added bonus of more intimacy is awesome. I mean we were intimate before but man has it increased. TMI I know, lol -
Please help a long term bander-Slippage?
Mrs.Bales replied to blackcherry2002's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't speak to the issue with Barium (sounds to me like an allergic reaction - but I'm not a Doctor) As for the other issue with digestion, constipation, bloating, gas, acid reflux and a general processing of food issue, I found a commercial product called Align (there are other names on the market) and found my own personal version of happy balance before I was banded. I tried the yogurts and other products and found this one does the trick for me. I now have normal bowel movements and no longer feeling like a loaf of bread is doing the tango in my intestines. TMI? sorry but if you know the pain and discomfort associated with IBS or any of the other digestion issues then you know what it's like to find some peace with food. One of my questions when researching the band is if I could continue to take Align - I don't ever want to go back to the way it was. I agree with the second opinion and questioning the doctor who thinks the band removal is going to work - especially if he doesn't know about or support the band. -
