Well the lunch stuff I have already had in purée stage so it’s just the dinners that are new foods for me. But the more I thought about it it will be alot of wasted food since I am eating just a tiny bit and my husband won’t eat half of it. I think I am going to spread it out and use have leftovers for lunch instead of the other stuff. -
I don't think the fact that its pureed helps. It already looks like something you wouldn't eat. I just couldn't. I skipped this stage. I made vegetable soups that were thicker than my liquid ones. I added cheese that melted in. Made them with some milk instead of all stock. It worked for me. Never be afraid to go back a stage for a while. We can not all have the same healing curve.

Many years back, I had a job that required me to go to a big food science convention. The vendor exhibition was this massive place where all the global food companies, big and small, would introduce new and upcoming products. The first day there, a coworker cautioned me to be very careful and selective about what and how much I sampled throughout the day. She recalled that a few years before, Olean had been all the rage and every food company seemed to have samples of fat free products made with the stuff. And of course, who can resist eating all that free food, right? You could go back as many times as you wanted to get samples, and people sure did. Well, a shockingly high number of conference attendees during the Olean year had ended up back in their hotel rooms that first night having very unpleasant bathroom experiences. In fact, that event in part led to them figuring out that too much of the stuff could be really bad. Luckily there was nothing quite so terrible the year I went, although I did get a glimpse of just how unnatural all that processed food can be.

I had my last pre-op appointment with my dietician and I asked if there was a pre-op liquid diet I needed to do? She said no I can have solid foods up till the day before surgery. She said because I have lost 30lbs, and done what I am supposed to that I am good shape. So yay! My hubbies bday is a couple of weekends before my surgery and for Christmas we were gifted a certificate to a really nice steakhouse so we were planning to do. The food I am not worried about but how bad would it be if I had one cocktail? Then stick with water? TIA!

It sounds like the big takeaway is that you are overall doing really well. I think you can easily make the food switches. Sorry about the counselor, but maybe an external counselor will be better because you can pick some one that you like and fits you. -

Foods with the highest water content
Bodybuilder replied to WL WARRIOR's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
It’s great to hear about the positive changes you’ve experienced since switching to a plant-based diet! Staying hydrated through water-rich vegetables like cucumbers is a fantastic benefit. Craving cucumbers and apple cider vinegar also shows your body might be responding well to these healthy foods. It’s interesting that after hitting your goal, fresh fruits and vegetables have become more appealing. Surgery and lifestyle changes can sometimes alter taste preferences, making healthier options more satisfying. Does anyone else have similar experiences with cravings or new food preferences post-surgery? -

There are also foods that contain the enzymes but keep in mind if they are like the vitamin they only stay in your gut like 30-45 minutes so you may need to eat them at your same meal as your carbs. “Foods that contain natural digestive enzymes include pineapples, papayas, mangoes, honey, bananas, avocados, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, miso, kiwifruit and ginger.” https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/natural-digestive-enzymes -

Surgery twin! I found a lot of soft/pureed recipes on Pinterest and TikTok. My surgeon had me on a clear liquid diet post op for 3 days and then I was able to start soft/pureed. Soups and jello were my go to initially. You got this! I’d say to wait a few minutes after your first bite to see how you handle it -
My boys (Finn on the left, Guinness on the right) love all the long walks they get to take. And are particularly fond of cleaning up mom’s leftovers since I don’t usually finish the food on my plate :)

can you live entirely off protein the shakes??
Bessieboop1981 posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi guys, I wondered if any of you have decided to completely given up conventional food and have protein / meal replacement shakes instead post op. I have heard that this is absolutely fine to do as long as you are taking your supplements and drinking plenty of water. What's your thoughts/experiences? -

Had my one month post op appointment today and I showed her my food tracking summary of all my macros and told her what I’ve been doing on my fitness and she was very please. Said my weight loss is excellent and my food choices are perfect. She wants me to increase a little bit to add a little more protein and carbs because I’m so active now but other than that everything is fine. I cannot believe how amazing I feel you guys. I have not had this level of energy since I was a teenager and I’m not just eating but ENJOYING foods that I never liked before!! The fresh ingredients is seriously the trick. It’s more work but it makes things taste so much better. -
Is there a standard guideline?
catwoman7 replied to NovelTee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
surgeons do vary. At my clinic, both sleeve and bypass people were on the same plan. They had us on purees as soon as we left the hospital, but they changed that (I had my surgery nine years ago) and now they have to do a week (or maybe two?) of liquids before moving to purees. -
I have never heard of that advice before in my life 😳 bloody hell! Yeah...no wonder!! The leaflet instructions just say take it an hour after food, and I always find in the evening before bed is best, as if I have nausea I can just try and sleep it off! Definitely chase it up with them!

Food Before and After Photos

That's tbd at this point. My current plan is week to week keep a low dose in my system that quiets food noise and gives some suppression that makes it easier to IF, but not so much I'll continue to lose weight. -
I would assume that your medical team will provide you with the stages they would like you to go through. everyone one here were given widely differing sets of instructions post op, so it may get a little confusing with all the differing accounts. best to pick one program (easiest one would be the one provided by your team) and follow that. remember they are guidelines, so if you are unable to do a stage or meet a goal or have issues, do something else. don't force it. and get in touch with your team with that said, here was mine (almost 5 years ago): week 1: clear liquids week 2-3: full liquids week 4: purees (i skipped this one, i just did full liquids for another week because purees were YUCK! lol week 5-6: minced ...after that i was cleared for everything/anything (just reminded to chew alot).

Help With Getting Back On Track
SleeveToBypass2023 replied to Hey Man's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The only reason I suggested the stages is to give yourself time mentally to adjust to the changes little by little. It won't do anything for your pouch, but trying to change everything all at once, or even too fast, can set you up for failure. Yes, it's on you now. But really, it's always been. You just didn't know it. We rely on the restriction and the small size of our pouches to tell us when to stop eating, or what not to eat, or how often we can eat. But the food choices are still on us. Slider foods, foods high in carbs and unhealthy fats, high in salt and sugar...that's still on us. Slider foods, alcohol, sodas...that's still on us. So if you want to skip the stages, that's fine. But get yourself ready mentally to make the changes you need to make. You still have your tool. You just have to relearn how to properly use it. -
IM HUNGRY!!!!!!
SleeveToBypass2023 replied to Dchonlee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, me. I never lost my hunger at all. I've just had to learn that if I follow my plan, I'm getting enough food. I ignore it by staying busy, working a lot, and keeping busy so I'm not focused on it. I make sure to have 3 meals and 3 snacks per day and prioritize protein, then healthy fats, then fiber, then carbs. -
I want to know what people's experiences are of their eating habits post surgery. For example, does everyone experience problems with finishing a plate of food or a takeaway meal? I've been experiencing problems with volume of food that I can eat post surgery. I also experience constipation, something I've never struggled with in the past. The thing I hate is that my food gets cold when I'm trying to make my way through it, even though I'm eating slowly and chewing well. It's so frustrating. I also fear having to eat in public or in front of those that do not know I have had surgery.

First time posting here! Surgery date is 10/22. I'm currently doing my 2 week liquid diet and struggling. I miss eating good tasting food. I'm not a sweets person and these sweet protein shakes are tough to drink. And I can only handle so much broth. Highest Weight: 395 Starting Weight: 261 Goal Weight: 180 I'm terrified I will be the person that doesn't lose any weight. I haven't told too many people about having surgery for this reason. I know my love for food is what got me to this point in the first place, but what I would give to have a plate of delicious nachos right now!
