    Holy Cow! - NSV

So we had this dinner in our community for the Fire Department (My hubby is on the department). Anyway I wanted to wear something nice so I went shopping and picked out some Miss Me Skinny Jeans and a super cute top to wear. The sales lady was super supportive and helped me pick the right size of jeans (hey, I'm not in my 20s anymore and I have no idea what all these weird sizes are) Anyway, I got home with my size 29 jeans and proceeded to do laundry and pick up the house. While folding my step-daughter's clothes I noticed that her skinny jeans from Miss Me are a size 28 and she is a tiny stick figure. I can hardly believe that we are only one size apart in jeans. It sort of blows my mind a little bit. So knowing that I had to go online and do a size comparison and found out that I am now a size 7/8. That is the weirdest thing I have ever seen in my entire life. In my eyes I still feel like I am a size 16/18 but I guess in the world of Miss Me I am a 7/8. Heck, I'll take it any day of the week! PS - Rocked the party

    The thrill is gone

The thrill is gone and its a fabulous place to be. Life goes on after the honeymoon. The NSV's , The shock from people around you and being driven by weight loss. Looking back I have to laugh. The high from the honeymoon was incredible..I even thought I had the answers to everything bariatric. The transformation is complete. Finding other adventures and things to overcome and conquer. I'm soooo over it!
  4. Hey everyone! Just wanted to share with my favourite nsv with everyone, my first 5k walk is officially under my belt. I came in in under 50 minutes I am very happy with my time, I was actually anticipating being well over an hour but determination kept me going. Its amazing to see from this end how much weight was holding me back.
  5. 1.The deli manager whose store I have frequented for many years, did a triple take yesterday! He said he almost did not recognize me !. Until I placed my regular order ! Made me smile and feel great all week long ! 2. I was talking to a colleague who I speak to about once every 2 weeks. As we were chatting, I realized that she didn't know who she was talking to !!! She said she didn't recognize me until she heard my voice! I think sometimes we cannot see our "new " selves.
  6. I saw a friend a few days ago whom I hadn't seen in a couple of months. She was going on about how much weight I've lost. When we were leaving, she said, "You need new pants, yours look loose." I was laughing, because all of my slacks had been falling off so I had just gone and bought 2 pairs of new ones the day before and I was wearing one of them. I guess I should have gone down another size? LOL. I'm going to exchange the second pair for the next size down instead of wearing them. Actually I don't think they would fit quite yet, but hopefully soon!! I'm down 4 pants sizes since surgery in Feb! Down in tops and undergarments also.

    NVS I never expected

I love, love, LOVE NSV! Isn't it amazing what "little" things can be so amazing? Congratulations on your great job!
  8. Hi All, So I have had two NSV that I never imaged that getting the sleeve would bring. First off I can sleep through the night. I can not remember when I was able to do it. The second when headed to the ladies room I no longer have that sudden panicky need to go before I am ready to. Amazing.
  9. Well, I'm not having an easy food holiday, not from overeating, but from eating food that I don't typically eat--my sleeve really, REALLY doesn't like turkey! I thought my sleeve was getting a bit more tolerant, as I have been able to eat foods recently that I couldn't eat comfortably before, but these last two days have been really rough; that's what I get for posting it as an NSV! LOL I actually had to throw up twice, yesterday after eating a couple of small pieces of beef fajita meat (very tender and well chewed, but still not enough, evidently) and today after having two bites of turkey (dark meat, very tender and well chewed). It's kind of depressing to be eight months out and still be unable to eat particular, fairly common foods. On the flip side, I guess that price is an acceptable trade-off for being healthy and not overweight. I'm really thrilled with how things have gone overall. I'm just frustrated that I can't seem to eat meat or poultry with reliability. So I've been "on program" but not because my discipline has been fabulous. I did eat the guts of a sliver of sweet potato pie later this afternoon, and it was delicious and comfortable. Won't overdo, though--too much sugar to feel good!
  10. So yesterday was my 9 years wedding anniversary and the hubby took me out for dinner to Logan's and,I ordered a grilled chicken breast with a baked sweet potato and I shared my meal with my 2 year old baby. I asked for a to go box before I start eating my meal and I took out of my plate the food that I was not going to eat I was so full with 2 bites of chicken and 2 tsp of sweet potato. I was so happy!!! Before I could eat the whole plate and ask for desert Yay for my sleeve. I took home the left overs and my daughter and my husband had some. I just had 2 bites of the chicken for lunch. Now that I am not allow to eat much I realized the ridiculous portions of food that restaurants serve here in America and is worse in Texas lol I just wanted to share my first experience dining out

    Good news!

    NSVs = Non scale Victories

    Good news!

The NSV's are the best. I am 7 weeks out and have lost 31 pounds, post op. But, I went from a 2-3x shirt to a loose(not falling off) x large. My pants (that have remained after disposing too big's) are still bigger than I'd like. Pants went from a 24 to a 20 (maybe 18, if I have an elastic waist).

10 days post op, same weight...

Thanks everyone... The scales moving...DOWN, I met with my dietician, im getting as close to 1200 cals a day a vast improvement from 600 a day, and I was able to start walking... Had a nsv this morning, ive had a total of 18 lbs.lost pre/post op and put on my pandora and it slipped right down to my knuckles...at least my wrists are gettin skinny haha... Anyhow thanks for the support sometimes u just need to hear it from someone else!
  14. oh yeah liquids makes huge difference dear.. Water is my only way -when I had the band and stalled for too long - to flush out all the extra water and bad stuff in my body.. really live like a fish! to be able to break this stall.. how many fruits are having daily? I will try to shake things up if I was in ur place:) - If u are doing 2 miles and trying for more just try adding intensity instead.. interval training is also great. Also u can try the elliptical instead of the treadmill. - If u are logging ur food intake take a second look, there must be something triggering ur weight loss. sometimes it is the tiniest thing! for me it was the extra latte I get. Congrats on ur NSV!!! I am sure u have always been pretty!
  15. Congratulations! What a great NSV!
  16. I am a daily weigher and I am on vacation with no scale! 2 more weeks. I had just finished a long long stall at 7 weeks when I went away and lost 3lbs in days and maybe more but no scale. I'm feeling anxious about my progress. I am hoping for a very good number when I get home. I've been eating 700-800 per day. Pretty low carb and 70-80 grams of Protein a day all from meat, fish or eggs. The best nsv is that a few months ago this vacation would have killed me alone with my 3 and 5 year old all day. We are having a great and active time!

    Something I've Never Done

What a great NSV!! I'm very happy for you. I hope you have a great time I bet your friend will not even recognize you now at 198 lbs.

    Funny NSV!

Well, I still need the big cuff, but my NSV came when I was playing with my daughter the other day- My wedding band flew off my finger! It hit my other daughter in the face . Funny thing is, before my surgery 5 weeks ago, I couldn't wear it because it was too small- now it is too big! Waiting to have it resized
  19. Hey all, I am really happy to report that I no longer needed a seat belt extender on recent flight and I was thrilled!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. I went shopping last night for the first time since losing 30 pounds. For the first time in 10 years I could buy what I liked, and not just what fit. For the last 10 years I have been buying clothes if they fit (which was hardly ever), not if I like them....because if they fit, I LIKED THEM!!! I am also out of big girl clothes - officially can shop in the regular women's department - which as you may know increases the possibilities immensly. I am so glad I did this for myself...I just can't say enough about how great I feel. :confused1:
  21. I hit a couple of major NSVs today. I’ve lost 100 lbs (or near enough to count), and finally dipped down into the 100’s. I am pretty pleased with myself, and I am so glad that I had the surgery. HW = 299 CW = 199.4 SW = 280.0 Surgery Date = 07/23/2020 I follow my program of eating healthy extremely well. Cravings are at a minimum, but the weight loss isn’t a complete breeze. I feel like I need to make a conscious effort to stick to the plan. I’m a slow and steady loser, and weirdly each pound lost always feels like it’s going to be the last. Not sure why, because I am not a pessimist by nature. The body dysmorphia is strong, and I have absolutely no sense of how big or small I am now. I feel much better than before, and my clothes are getting looser, but I don’t *feel* like I’ve lost much weight. How very weird! It’s not disheartening - just kind of a clinical observation that my brain can’t quite figure out what’s going on. My initial goal weight was 165 lbs. I picked that weight because it was a goal just beyond what the average weight loss for my height was. I honestly didn’t think it was attainable. But now I do. I’d like to shoot for maybe 140 now. I initially didn’t think I was going to be interested in plastic surgery. However loose skin, age and gravity are not a winning combination. It’s on the table now! I’m glad I don’t have to think about it anytime soon, though. Other observations: * I log my food meticulously. I focus on high protein and low carbs, and feel like it’s a good day when my protein intake is > carb intake. I pretty much ignore the fat intake, but I am eating healthy so it’s just not a concern. * I’ve averaged about 1100 calories/day since the new year. * I don’t think I would have been this successful if i hadn’t been teleworking since the pandemic started. I live alone so I cleared out my kitchen of all temptations. * I walk 3.5 miles a day and I’ve grown to really enjoy it. I rarely miss - only if there are monsoon-like rains will I stay in. * I wear a Fitbit, and I think the most important and useful feature is the reminder to walk throughout the day. I typically average about 15K steps/day. * I have started jogging a little bit, and have been ASTOUNDED that I can do it. I’m super slow, but I can do it. This morning I jogged over 3 miles without dying a single time. 😂 * I do not like jogging. * I was going to the the gym, but stopped because of the crowd of ‘New Years resolution’ people who didn’t seem to be very good with the mask-wearing. I’ll pick back up with that once I get the vaccine. * I have become more limber, and a lot of my aches and pains have receded or disappeared. I love that I can cross my legs now. * My hair fell out. A lot. Started at about 3 months and it was just shocking. It was particularly bad around my temples, and around the crown of my head. It is growing back as seen by the scraggly hair sticking out in all directions. I am so pretty. 😱 It seemed to stop falling out pretty abruptly about 2 weeks ago. * Eating breakfast is still a struggle. I’ve always hated it and I still do. I almost always rely on the Fairlife shakes for breakfast. * I eat a lot of chicken, shrimp, salad, and Morningstar frozen vegan options. I am not a good cook, and as much as I think about food I guess I am just not willing to spend much time preparing it. I like the salad kits that most grocery stores have now. * I take a tremendous amount of joy in cleaning out my closet of clothes I can no longer wear. My closet is so empty! It is seriously so awesome! I’m not ready to do much shopping yet, though. I don’t need clothes for work (yet), and I’m hoping to still lose more weight. * I weigh myself every morning, and I think I’m always going to have to do this. It’s an accountability thing for me.
  22. Congratulations on your success! We are pretty similar — I had my surgery just a week before yours, and I have also lost 100 pounds since my surgery (I lost about 70 pounds before surgery). My initial goal weight was 180 pounds based on average weight loss (this was before I lost the first 70 pounds), but now I’m shooting for 150, although I honestly don’t care all that much about the number on the scale; for me, it’s all about the NSVs. When I stop and think about it, I’m in disbelief that I have lost such a massive amount of weight. I used to see people who have lost 100+ pounds and think it was impossible, and now I’m one of them. i also have the same sense that it doesn’t feel like I’ve lost as much as I have. I am literally half the size I used to be, and of course I can tell that I’m smaller, but I definitely don’t feel like I’m half my old size. I actually like to cook, and I spend a lot of time on Pinterest looking at bariatric-friendly recipes (I find a lot of recipe on keto web sites, even though I don’t exactly follow the keto diet, but a lot of keto recipes are good because they’re low-carb). One of the cool things about being a bariatric patient is that my portion sizes are so small that I get a ton of servings out of a single recipe. I made a batch of turkey meat sauce that came out to 27 portions! I have a freezer full of single-serving meals from just a few cooking sessions. I’ve really enjoyed finding new, healthy recipes that I love, and I hardly even miss the old unhealthy foods I used to eat. I recently discovered that I like spaghetti squash! And I eat cauliflower rice all the time. I hardly recognize myself anymore. Anyway, it’s great to see someone else enjoying great results from WLS. It is truly life-changing!
  23. Just realized I did something without even thinking about it. I bent over while standing and tied my shoes. No aches, no huffing and puffing, no problem!! I wouldn't have been able to do that 50 lbs ago. Talk about an NSV!!!
