Omg I scored. No yoga mat and I didn’t find much in my size for cheap but I did find it in the next size down. I got 2 pairs of leggings (nice ones that I like with the pockets and the high waist), 5 pairs of athletic shorts that are that moisture wicking material, one T-shirt and one dressier shirt, and one pair of comfy pants to wear around the house that should fit now. All of that for $19!! One pair of the shorts still had the price tag on them and they were $26 and I know them leggings aren’t cheap either. Any one of them items would’ve been more than $19 and I got 10 items. It’s so much fun to find the deals and was extra fun today to see the cute stuff in the smaller sizes to look forward to. I think I’m gonna get a couple storage totes and just buy stuff when I find it at the thrifts and toss in there then go through it ever so often. Definitely check out the secondhand stores if you can. Women are always going up and down with their sizes so they have so many nice clothes. -

New Clothes

I feel the same way! I am size 20 to now 12/14. Sometimes even size 10. I bought things online thinking I might be XL, because I was previously XXL, but they didn’t fit. Then I exchange to L and it’s still too big…Clothing size is very complicated now, but I am feeling the same excitement!!! Woohooo I would like to suggest don’t buy too much new clothing now because you will size down fairly quickly. I have to buy new clothes every 2 months or so. I bought summer clothes in July for the summer and they don’t fit anymore. I bought more sweaters for the winter and refrain from buying more. I know it’s so hard not to buy more! -
@MrsFitz the body scan etc is not included free, there is a €150 charge for the administration/set up and then it is €85 every two weeks hence I only signed up for a six month agreement, to see if it is worth it longer term. That said it does include about 8 or 10 personal training sessions in the six months as well as general gym access. That main course sounds lovely, I love steak and pepper sauce though I tried it in July and it did not stay down, think the sauce I had was too creamy.

7- there’s me, 1 under 1, and then kids from 9-19. So 12 egg cheese English muffins is only 2 breakfasts. And there’s nothing wrong with expensive groceries. If I could afford real crab and dry aged steaks I’d definitely be eating those. Instead I just work with what I’ve got. What makes me jealous is the price at some stores in the UK. 😭 The one time I did I mock shop (virtual cart that I didn’t check out) at I think it was Asda? it was like $75US and it was so much stuff. -

Most of the time. The crackers were an Amazon fresh deal. Normally like $4something a box but on sale 2 for $5 and there’s a promo for spend $35 get $10 off. Which goes before the 2 for $5 sale price. The ones I bought weren’t all that $4.69 pre sale price so I ended up with 10 boxes of different kinds for $15. Example pictures show 8 of the same kind for $10. The broths were also an Amazon fresh deal of buy one get one free with a normal price of $1.69 each. Other Amazon fresh items- green grapes 3lbs for 1.99, tortillas $.98, 12ct english muffins $1.35, hot dog buns $.97, coleslaw mix $1.89, tofu $1.52, and Parmesan cheese had a 50% off coupon making it $3.14 I still use the Flashfood app for most of my produce so that’s where the strawberries ($.50 each), cucumbers ($.30 each) and eggplant, avocado, and peppers ($3 bag) came from. They do apply a service fee but for my order it was only $.38 Kroger was the red grapes ($.89/lb), eggs ($1.99/18ct), and potatoes (1.88). meijer and Aldi were the rest of it with discounted produce at Meijer. The pink bottle thing is strawberry daiquiri tea which came from Aldi’s aisle of shame. 😂 -
REVOLVING TOPIC ON MAINTENANCE

Because I am still 'fairly" early in the journey (a little over 9.5 months post-op) I completely get your fear and worries. I go through the same cycle of thoughts and what ifs, I wonder if I'm eating too much, too little, losing too much, regain....etc. so I get it. What I can tell you is that you used your surgery to build really good habits and that is eating well most of the time, steps, weight training...etc. and I'm sure those replaced your previous bad habits. Please do a mental comparison of yourself pre WLS and post WLS and see how much you've changed. From what I gather is that you took up exercise after WLS and that gives you great advantage. Your body will build muscle and lose fat simultaneously and you will be at the peak of hypertrophy so take that chance to build as much muscle as you can (fat burning machines). I can tell you that someone at your height and activity level would need quite a bit more than 2000 calories to maintain, so you're still in a deficit. And the beauty of it, is that you can always dial back up or down when you see changes on the scale! Weight fluctuations are very normal (up to 10 lbs), yesterday I was 53.2 on the scale and the next morning I was 53.9 overnight! I know that I was getting my period that day so I knew it's water retention, no biggie! I think you absolutely got this! -

She didn't ask much about my activity, but then again I'd mentioned that i was still working on getting active and that my energy had been hit and miss. Since then I've noticed I have some days where i have more energy than others, and I did start on my exercise bike! I started with just 5-10 minutes every day that I don't go for walks. I think it has helped with my digestion, and i feel like allowing myself up to 30 carbs on some days has helped my energy level. It's nice to eat a little bit of fruit here and there - I'd mainly been doing dairy and either meat or beans (very small serving, if beans!) Rounding out my diet some has been helpful. I'm still not eating any garbage foods - the most I've indulged in was a couple pieces out of an order of honey chicken and maybe 1/8 cup of the rice that came with it. Everything else has been very low or zero sugar so far. I've also let myself have one cup of coffee per week - all things considered, I'm feeling a bit more human. The walking has been nice, especially when I can do it outside in cooler temperatures. I think we've got one more week of 80s, and then back into the 60s and 70s. I can't wait! -

Went out to a Michelin star Peruvian place this weekend and here’s what we ordered: Red snapper ceviche, truffle ponzu, chives served on rice crackers. This was PHENOMENAL. Tiger prawn gyozas with pea cream and edamame. Spicy beef fillet (medium) with crispy shallots. Crispy cauliflower, chipotle mayo, chives and sesame seeds. Tres Leches (three milk cake), vanilla ice cream and salted dulce de leche. I only had 3 small bites of this as it was too sweet but good albeit. But over all the food was 10/10! -
I finally bit the bullet and bought some new clothes today. I was quite apprehensive as I genuinely didn't know what size I would be, so I had my boyfriend with me who doubles up as my stylist 😂 I went into New Look - which I wouldn't have even dreamt of doing pre-surgery - and just asked him to pick some things for me. He picked 3 coats (I currently have none that fit me, and it is getting cold here in the UK!), a skirt, and a cropped jumper. I was trying to insist that I would need a size UK 18-20 (which is a US 14-16 I think?), but he was adamant that I needed a UK 12-14 (US 8-10?)...I tried them on in the sizes he suggested, and they FIT. I genuinely didn't believe it, like I don't think I have been this size since 2017/18...my brain can't actually see it or even compute with it. Before surgery I was a UK 22, more of a 24 in most things if I am honest. Just can't believe it yet. Does anyone else get like this?! But I am riding a high today, I feel good, and I am still in shock 😂

Surgery is in 4 1/2 days (10/01) and the nerves are real! I know logically that I have done everything they have asked of me, but I still keep thinking I've screwed up. Starting Weight- 350 Current Weight- 325 Still a few days remaining to see what what I can lose on 5 shakes a day for the next 4 days. -
Hi, I’m new here and my surgery date is 10/21 so I can be in your October group? Not sure what all that entails but willing to learn.
-
Hi, I’m 5’2” but was 5’4 1/2” and shrinking. My surgery date is October 21st. Will start pre-op diet after speaking with nutritionist again on10/01. I was reading the info on pre op and during and after surgery about nutrition. Did you all drink 5 shakes per day every 3 hours?? I don’t like them that much! BJ’s has a variety of flavors though.

I technically have a cat. She's 10 years old and when my we got her, I was still living at home. As much as she loved me, she was definitely my mother's cat, and after my mother died, I had to take her to live with my friend who has a more than enough room and a landlord that allows pets. She hates me now, and I understand even though it makes me sad when I see her (usually three times a week. However, she is still my mothers baby and my little fur sister and she is named Wilhelmina Felicity Biggleswade

14 Days to Go!
NeonRaven8919 replied to NeonRaven8919's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
10 days left. I'm starting to really worry now! Is there any way to make sure my liver has shrunk before the surgery? I've been doing the pre-op diet, and I've lost weight, but I'm starting to panic that I've done everything right except the odd slip up and it won't be enough! Is this just normal nerves? Is it possible I've lost weight, but the liver has been stubborn and not shrunk? -
Thank you for your message! It’s really reassuring to hear that 10 kg in six weeks is within the normal range, especially from someone who’s been through it and had such amazing results like you. I also appreciate you pointing out that a lot of things are beyond my control, and I need to focus on what I can control. It’s so easy to fall into the comparison trap, but you’re right—I need to stop doing that and just keep going. Your story is super inspiring, and I’ll hold onto it whenever I feel doubtful. I’m definitely motivated to stay consistent with my eating and gym routine now. Thanks again for sharing your experience and for the tough love! 😊

Oh bless him It is so hard when they pass isn't it 😕 I haven't had a cat until old age yet - my childhood cat, Chubbs, died when he was maybe 4/5 because of a car I have my old baby Freya (names also include: Freyabean, beany, Halloweenybeanyweeny, Jalebeeno, fattie, fridge...I could go on) she is 9, 10 next year! I also have my little baby Pickle (also called: pickley, pickstick, pickle bum, demon, picky wicky, poo bum etc) and she's almost 6 months old! Both my babies are indoor cats, and honestly I think it is safer and healthier for cats! They live longer! -
you are fine. Most people seem to lose somewhere in the 7 - 11 kg (or 15-25 lb) during the first MONTH, and you've lost 10 kg in six weeks, so you're absolutely in the normal range. I lost 16 lbs (7 kg) the first month, so I was probably exactly where you are at six weeks out. I went on to lose over 90 kg (200 lbs). (you will always find people who lose less or more than the range I stated, but they're either outliers, or they started out at MUCH higher BMI's than most of us have - such as the people on shows like "My 600 lb Life"). Your nurse and doctor are fools. I had a resident tell me the same thing when I was a few weeks out, and I wish that jerk could see me now!! I'm sure I lost much more weight than most, if not all, of the people who went through the program when I did! rule #1 with this is; don't compare yourself to others! Your rate of weight loss depends on so many things, only a couple of which you have much control over. Age, gender, metabolic rate, what percentage of your body weight is muscle, genetics, starting BMI, whether or not you lost a lot of weight before surgery, diet, and activity rate are all factors. How much you're eating and how active you are are really the only things you have control over. Do well with those, and the weight will come off, whether fast or slow. But don't forget - 10 kg is six weeks is completely normal. Just carry on and don't listen to foolish crap like this. EDITED to add: I lost weight for 20 lbs. Yes the first month tends to produce more loss than following months, but just like with regular diets, that's because some of it is water weight. One kg a week is pretty normal after the first month - but that'll gradually drop as you approach a normal BMI.

George was 19 when old age got him ☹️ We lost 3 cats in 2 years - 2 to age, 1 to cancer. We’ve been cat-free for almost 12 months now and I keep pondering on whether to get another. We can’t have a rescue cat as we live on a main road so will have to consider a kitten as an indoor cat. I’m still not 100% so will ponder a little longer 🤔 I hope you’re managing to shake off Covid and it’s not being too much of a 💩 with you 😉 -
Hi Ladies, I’m almost 6 weeks post-op from my gastric bypass. I started at 109.5 kg, and now I’m at 98.6 kg, so I’ve lost about 10 kg. While my nurse and doctor mentioned that I could’ve lost more by now, they said it’s still not bad. Honestly, it didn’t make me feel great, but a loss is a loss, right? I find myself comparing my progress with others, mostly with sleeve patients, which I know isn’t fair. So, I’m here in the bypass forum to hear from others with success stories. Shouldn't the most weight loss happen in the first 2-3 months, and then it slows down? Right now, I’m losing around 1 kg per week, which I know is healthy, but I keep feeling like I should be losing more, and then I panic, wondering if I’m overeating. I’m on a 1200-calorie plan with 8-10 small meals a day. I haven’t been able to stick to the 10 meals, but I do my best to hit 8, and they’re all balanced. My workout routine has been almost non-existent, but I joined the gym TODAY, so that will change! I just need some reassurance that I WILL lose the weight and that I’m not going to fail like I have in the past with weight loss.
