  1. I had my gastric sleeve surgery on April 12th 2016 and I could tell there was a problem right after. I couldn't keep anything down I found out I had a kink in my sleeve. They sent me to gastrointestinal doctor who dialated it with a balloon on August 12th 2016, October 20th 2016, and again on April 28th 2017 (it kinked 3 times so far and I think it is kinking again). But I made it from day of surgery weight of 254 to 162 in January 2017 I was happy as a clam. Recently I've been gaining weight I had to cut my working out quite a bit because I had to have knee surgery on may 12th 2017 I also have fallen off the good food wagon a bit and started drinking soda more then i should and cut back on water which I shouldn't have. I'm going to start back to a healthier lifestyle and cut the soda to low to none amount. I have gained almost 15lbs in the last 5 or so months and I am so scared that I will gain it all back. I need support on my journey, words of encouragement, someone to say you are going to be ok. I went to put on a pair of jeans I did fit in fine before this morning and they were a tight I broke down and cried, I feel i may be going backwards.
  2. I am not banded yet and i am not pregnant, I have read a ton of the post on here about people getting concerned about gaining weight during pregnancy. I understand that we all have issues with weight gain but you are supposed to gain weight when you are preggers. it's healthy. a ton of weight gain is not healthy but a little is fine. like i said i understand that everyone on this site for the most part has issues with weight gain, my question is why don't people understand that it's normal an healthy for pregnancy, and stop beating yourselfs up over it? I know this might sound come across as rude but its not i promise i am just curious.
  3. I am 52 days post op and generally have not been weighing myself daily, but started weighing myself every couple of days. I am up two pounds. I have been exercising in the pool daily for up to an hour, have been meeting my Protein requirements and fluids. This is so frustrating!
  4. I'm 2 weeks out and I lost in the beginning but I am gaining now. I hid my scale because I was obsessing but this morning I got it back out and I have gained 2lbs. I don't have a fill until April 17th but I have been following the dr's orders very closely. I've never been able to lose weight and I'm freaking out this is not going to work HELP
  5. Hi All, I am considering a revsision from a lap band to a sleeve. I've gained all my 150-lbs. back from my initial weight loss. I realize there is a forum just for band-to-sleeve but I'd like to hear from people who've had their sleeve many years. I am concerned I will gain my weight back just like I always do. And then I'll be with most of my stomach gone. I am also afraid of constant nausea, diarrhea, etc. complications. I know there can always be problems. I worry because this is a no-going-back procedure. I've had problems with my lapband and it is unfilled, but now I have this option of getting it removed and trying something else. With permanent removal of part of my stomach, there's no revision to turn to. I guess bypass would be an option. So scared of that. Any replies appreciated.

    Weight Gain

I am frustrated this morning. I have gained pound. I know, I know, no big deal; it is just one. However, I have been struggling for months loosing and gaining the same 5 lbs. I had gotten away from working out everyday and have started up again....walking 1.5 miles at lunch and then either yoga or some other workout in the evening. Why am I gaining when I am working it? My eating is not perfect, but I am still eating little amounts an not too much sugar. Any thoughts? Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App

    Weight gain

I'm on the 10 day liquid diet I will have my surgery on Feb 2 I weighed myself today and I've gained 6 pounds I'm diabetic and on my last 3 days of the 3 shakes and lean cuisine for dinner I'm worried and confused about the weight gain any feedback would be so helpful
  8. This is going to be a psychological question. I had my second fill on 7/16 and am up to 8 CC in a 14 CC band. The restriction is wonderful. For the first few days I was content on my old meal plan... just eating less of it. But now that I am eating even less I am making horrible choices. I ate some french fries, cookie, chinese take out, and TGI Friday's wings. Went out to the bar for the first time and had some bar food and alcohol. Since banding I have not touched any of these things. I ate significantly less that I used to, but it was still alot of calories, fat, and carbs in a very small package. 800 calories in those wings and fries when a same size healthy meal would have been around 400 calories. What tips do those of you in the green zone have to keep your smaller meals satisfying and nutritionally sound? I will not fall victim to slider foods. Too much success to have this happen. I stepped on the scale at was up 4 lbs in the past 2 weeks.
  9. I know weird subject title but I was 330 lb at start and now 7 months ish post op I need to stop losing weight. I am down to 170 and starting to get a gaunt appearance. I just need some help with ways to level off. I am eatting as regularly as I can. As a flight medic I can't always eat every few hours but it still seems to be melting away. If anyone else has had this problem please let me know what u did to level off. I know this is a difficult subject to post since most people here, me included wanted nothing more than to lose weight but my concern of losing too much is quickly being realized. I have tried I decrease my workouts focusing more on weights and less on cardio. I am getting 90g-100g Protein per day. Anyway thanks for any advice. Surgiversary 07/24/12 Sent from my iPhone.
  10. I see my surgeon team today for a follow-up. Last month was my initial visit with his team and I have about 1 more month of nutritional follow ups with my PCP before it can all be submitted to insurance. I quit smoking 3 wks ago (after smoking for about 10 yrs). It wasn't hard when they told me I had to for the surgery. Believe it or not, I am very motivated! But now I've gained about 15lbs in 3 wks ????. I'm nervous about seeing the surgeon team today because they told me in my initial visit not to gain any weight. I was told to lose 10-15lbs before surgery. I still have 2-3 months before I go under. Did anyone else gain during the 6 month diet stage? I am busting my rear to lose that and the 10-15lbs before I go down but I'm freaking out a bit about today's weigh in! ????
  11. I was banded Thursday, and had a 1 week pre-op liquid diet prior. I did not do a " last meal" and stuck to the diet . My question is, if I literally not had a solid thing to eat in a week, protein shakes, soups and water. Is it normal to have gained weight ? I weighed in Thursday at 191, and 2 days later I am at 192. Could this just be bloat weight? I'm confused?
  12. I am three weeks post-op. I have been doing fine with the exception of terrible gas pain in the afternoon. Every afternoon, I feel extremely terrible and all I do is take Gas X and pass gas all evening. I am not sure what is going on but it is not fun. I had lost a total of 25lbs since the pre-op diet. However, the past 2 weeks, the scale has stopped moving in the right direction. I have gained 3lbs since surgery. I am not sure why, because I eat small portions and my calorie intake per day is between 800 and 1000 a day. I have eliminated all simple carbs and very little complex carbs. I am not discouraged just a tad bit disappointed that my scale is not going down. I still belive that I made the right choice and when I see my doctor next Friday, I will express my concern.

    Weight gain?

The surgery went well with no complications. The first two weeks I lost one pound a day. Week three I lost nothing. And now in week four I am gaining weight!!! I am so sad and disappointed and scared I altered my whole life for nothing. Im still earing mostly soft food and liquids and walking at least 30 min a day. What am I doing wrong? Has anyone else experienced weight gain after surgery??? I'm dying to know of I'm the only one and what can be done or do I need to contact my doctor? Omg so disappointed!!!

    Weight gain

Is it normal to gain weight (3 lbs) since eating full liquids? I'm only 2 weeks out. Makes me very nervous.
  16. I'm 3 months post up. Started working out a week ago and I have gain some weight during the week. Same diet. No junk food. Is it normal? Is about 1 kilo. I'm doing weight at the gym though Sent from my SM-G920F using the BariatricPal App
  17. I am 4 months out and down 75 pounds. I am very happy with my progress. I weigh myself every morning (even though I probably shouldn't) and I have had a few stalls but not bad. I weighed myself Monday and skipped Tuesday. On Wednesday I was up 4 pounds when I weighed myself! I'm so confused! I am eating 700-900 calories a day. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? I usually go to the gym 3 times a week sometimes less though depending on work.
  18. One week ago I slipped and fell. I hit my head hard and my ribs and scapula are hurt too. The scale jumped up 6 pounds 2 days after. The scale has been down 4 pounds and back up 2 pounds. I'm eating the same. Is this weight gain from swelling?
  19. Hey everyone! I'm back on here, looking for motivation and advice. Long story short, I've just had my first surgery following my final cancer treatment and the biopsy came back all clear! Looks like I beat the odds and tackled esophageal cancer in 16 months. I did not go through chemo, therefore the stress of the situation drove me back into bad eating habits and I put on 30 pounds. I'm 4 years and 3 months post-bypass. I've maintained at 200 pounds (down from 369 at my biggest) and was very proud of myself until recently. I have packed this weight on over the last 4 months. Winter. Holidays. Cancer. COVID. It all conspired to make for a rough patch, but I'm on the other side of the mountain now and determined to get back down to 200 which is where I'm happy and looking healthy. Thoughts? Advice? Words of encouragement?
  20. So I am super bummed because this is my first weight gain since surgery 4 months ago. I haven't been doing bad eating wise and I have upped my workout these last 2 weeks so I don't know why I not only losing but am gaining. It's so discouraging becuase here I am being active and kicking butt and then I get this news and it totally knocks you down. The only think I can think of that made me gain was either gaining muscle or Water retention. Other than that nothing makes sense. I should still be losing. I have another 90 pounds to go. Any words from the wise out there. Is this something that can happen when you start consistantly working out? I lost 5 pounds last week. Thanks guys. This sucks! P.S. I did accomplish another one of my goals though, went hiking twice this weekend, woohooo!
  21. I had my daughter in March and started the program in June. I also stopped breastfeeding in June. So naturally I had weight gain. 15 pounds. I have been fighting hard to loose it since. I lost 6 pounds in the following months. So I am showing a 9 pound gain and suppose to be submitting to insurance next week. I met with my surgeon yesterday but he didn't mention the gain or that it was an issue. He told me in the beginning of program that insurance only looks at starting number. He also has to perform surgery on a severe incisional hernia at the same time. So I'll need surgery no matter what. I met with my nutritionist today ( last appt of 4) and she seems to be concerned about the gain and insurance approval. She mentioned it to the office lady and I'm afraid she's going to note the gain in my request to insurance and I'll be denied. She told me my insurance won't tolerate a gain. . I'm getting conflicting info and the only thing I can do is wait for insurance to come back. I'm just wondering if anyone else had a gain and was still able to be approved? I was excited yesterday and totally discouraged and upset today. Now I'm going to be freaking out for the next few weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. I had surgery 8/21 and lost 29 pounds! Then this morning gained 2! Getting tons of water, walking, following food guide..... will this pass??? Also, I have an IUD AND I have had my period - light- on and off this whole post op. I'm getting nervous that that this ( like everything else) will not work for me. I also felt super light this morning- until the horrific scale. Any thoughts are welcome!
  23. I've gained about 15 lbs since this whole process began and I'm worried Tricare won't approve my surgery. Life has been crazy stressful and eating healthy has been a huge challenge. Anyone have experience with this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. Anyone experience this?? I was on liquids extra long due to Chrons disease. Started on foods about a week ago and have gained four pounds!!! I am still losing inches but it is hard to see the scale go up. I am mostly eating protein (fish, turkey or chicken), then veggies if room. Low on carbs. Protein drinks make me want to vomit...although I am going to try some mirilax for some mild constipation. I am also adding in gym time this week. I'm sure it will reverse but dog gone I want to see the scale go down again!!! Joan (almost 6 wks out and lost 42 lbs. Although was 46 lbs lost!!)
  25. Is it normal to gain weight during the puree stage? I've been losing weight nicely but now it seems like I'm gaining. It is hard to get in all the protein so I'm working on that. But just wanted to know if anyone else has had this experience. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
