FUN NSV - Now when I sit down and look down, I can actually see my navel!!! I no longer have that gi-normous spare tire blocking my view. Does anyone else have some fun non-scale victories to share?

On Wednesday it will be one month since my surgery and I feel great!!! My NSV is that I can fit into 3 different pairs of jeans I had saved that I haven't been able to fit into in over 9 months! YAYA!! P.S And... there even starting to get loose now!

I went to the drs. yesterday and realized, while sitting in the waiting room, that my butt didn't fill the entire seat. Then, while at my sister's house, my butt didn't fill her entire seat either. YEAH!!! I love love love NSVs! Oh, and I lost enough weight that the dr. will consider doing something that he wouldn't do 70lbs ago....Best day ever!!! Rain

Here are two quick ones....yesterday we went to Outback for lunch. Whoever designed their booths must be an avowed 'fattie hater', because they are HORRIFIC!! I've been able to get in them since a couple of months after surgery (couldn't EVEN before!), but getting out was not always a pretty sight and often required my husband's assistance. Yesterday, I was up and out of the booth before HE was and we both looked at each other with shock, then began to LOL!!! The other one made us LOL, too!!! A couple of weeks ago I noticed (don't know when it actually happened!) that my navel has gone from looking like this --> O to looking like this --> | !!!! Now that's not at all 'pretty', but, it'll be 'fixed' eventually, but for now, it's a big NSV......SOMETHING had to have happened for that dramatic change!

Best POSSIBLE NSV: I keep shaking my head and saying "I can't see it!" when people tell me how much they can tell I've lost. Today DH was hugging me and said, 'Oh, yeah -- look how much farther my arms go around you now!!' As he turned me to look in the mirror! I think I might get someone to snap THAT shot for my Before and After photos....I like using him for my 'tape measure'!!! Nana<----still DOESN'T SEE IT, but can't seem to lose that silly grin today!

Congrats everyone!!! Great NSVs. I am constantly amazed by the things I fit through. I take up way less space in reality than I do in my head...In my head I am still a million gagillion inches wide... But fitting between people and things is WAY easier now! Rain

Hello NSV is my favorite place to post. My NSV today is I bought the cutest bra and panty set. Not the mammoth 46DD horse halter and just my size panties that could cover a small pool. But a very pink with lots of lace 36D . My first happy shopping experience in years.

Sounds like a serious NSV to me! Big congrats, eh. And you will be losing the lbs, too. Keep on enjoying the trip.

Hi there...I am new to this site and am in desperate need of some encouragement. I am only 6 days post op (lap band) and SCARED TO DEATH!! My fear is that I wont loose weight. Do you recall feeling this way?? I guess I just don't know how much weight I should expect to loose? How often should I weigh? I know myself and I can become a "slave" to the scale. NSV sounds great to me but that would require patience...Something I lack terribly...PLEASE HELP

:seeya:Hi Sue. Good to hear from you my friend. I LOVE Mammoth cave. We went there a lot when I was a kid. What a NSV for you . Thanks for counting with me. 4 days to go . Welcome oktoberfest. It's always nice to have new people join us. You should be hearing something pretty soon. I think it took 2 weeks or so. Charlene my have a helper now, so that may speed up the process for you. Kathy~ how did your walk go? Sarah~ glad to hear your feeling better, even with the slight gain. You can drop that in no time. I'm off to join my family for my sisters birthday celebration. Hope everyone has a blessed day. -

:thumbup:Angie* that is super you got your drain out and that you are eating mushies. my dh used to make me shepard pie(?) I think that is what he called it. yummy. meatloaf and mashed potatos blended together. he added more, but, would not tell me. I am a very picky eater!! Congrats on the 21+ loss. your doing great. I am going out of town today, and I only have 1 pair of jeans that fit at this time. So, I told my dh he has to take me to a thrift store and buy me at least 1 pair. lol.....nobody seems to want to get clothes right now. I have over 100+ items to sell/get rid of. Kathy* welcome to the world of restriction!! eat slower. eat 1 bite and wait 1-2 min. then try another bite. wtb on passing the 50lbs mark. Niki* see you in a few weeks. (we are on the same fill schedule) Lyn* your doing great. hang on until you get a fill. It will slowly get easier. one more thing. I had an awesome nsv last night. I (yes,me) fit into a size 20 tankini top!! I look hot now. I actually looked into a mirror while I was wearing it. (I bought it in May, and I had no chance in getting myself in it at that time. lol) keep being losers!! -

:clap2::clap2:OMG Debbie you look wonderful!!! You and Lady are doing great! I know you have to feel like a million bucks. WTG with the NSV, it the greatest feeling when people notice all your hard work. Special K, girl you are moving right along in your journey. I feel like it is taking FOREVER.... its been 9 months so far! But there is an end in sight. Keep a jumpin'!! Lady, Heath is east of Columbus right between Newark and Buckeye Lake. Kind of like Reynoldsburg is between Pickerington and White hall, only closer. I can be at 256 in about 15 minutes (without lots of traffic) DH and I go to church in Reynoldsburg and it takes about 20 minutes to get there. BTW 50 lbs is amazing!!! :whoo: You guys really do inspire me and help me keep faith that this is gonna happen for me too. Sue, I feel you pain with the doctors. My psych eval was 500.00 and insurance didn't pay one red cent!!!! You would think after all the $ we pay into our insurance company that when we need something they would cover it. So when will you hear if you are approved or not??? I would think with sleep apnea that it would be a sure thing for getting approved. Hang in there my friend, we will get through this. Hey Dorothy! How are you doing? I hope you all have a blessed day! -
Pebbles, my prayers are with you in your healing process. Kristina, you go girl -- sounds like a really fun job. Robin, Bug & GEMom, I hope your knee and ortho problems are resolved quickly. I am a little over 2 months since surgery and 1 month from my first fill. I haven't yet decided when to get another one. I'm losing weight -- slowly, but surely, so I am planning to wait until I stall before I get another fill. I can eat most anything, just less of it. I'm still staying away from most startches, so I think that is helping. I feel good and NSV's are starting -- clothes are not fitting, a few people are noticing, and I feel better! Best to all. Jessica

You can still go out and have fun. You can eat the same foods as you did before, just less frequently for certain ones and for all, in smaller portions. Any day you are on the green side of the grass is going to be a lot more fun than the other choice. You can't order any "super-size" meals on the dirt side. Look forward to all you will be able to do, the endless NSVs that will happen and your new happier, healthier and longer life you will have post bariatric surgery. -

Congratulations!!! I'm 9 weeks post op too! I've lost 47 pounds. It is AMAZING! I had my 2 month post op at my surgeon's last week and they were happy with my progress. I was a little discouraged because I stalled out for about a week, but my nutritionist reminded me of all the NSVs...I've stopped having to use my cpap, my feet don't ache anymore, I'm down from a size 18 to a size 12. I still want to lose about another 40 lbs, and the weight loss is moving much slower now. I really have to be more diligent. We had a Halloween party to go to yesterday, and it is HARD to navigate the food (and drink) table at a party! My husband and I were the only sober people there, lol. But it was still fun! I'm learning you don't need food and alcohol to have a good time. Sent from my SM-N976V using BariatricPal mobile app -

I had a funny NSV over the holiday. I was with my brother and nephew when my nephew's mom (my brother's ex) came to pick my nephew up. She was totally skunk eyeing me something wicked. She wouldn't even respond to my attempts at small talk. I was thinking "wow, she hates me!". Still, I just tried to ignore her and loved on my nephew. When it was time for them to leave, my brother walked them out. When he came back, he was laughing. Apparently, she had no idea who I was and assumed I was my brother's new girlfriend! LMAO! She asked him who I was (curse words included) and he laughed "ummm, you mean my sister?" He said her jaw literally dropped and she goes "no way! but she's so little now! It doesn't look like her at all!" My brother told her I'd lost over 200 pounds so it's no wonder she didn't recognize me. I guess she then felt bad for being such a b#tch to me. I laughed so hard!! -

Ok I had to catch up on these nsv's before I could post mine it's been a while but I thought I would take a pic of just my face to see if it was any smaller, ok get ready to laugh I did when I looked at it and my son said hey you don't have a double chin anymore I laughed and said what y ripple chins are gone , then I looked in the mirror and noticed there is a bit of a waddle happening like a turkey's waddle but no more double or triple chin and yes I am seeing the lines fro losing the weight on my neck , I didn't even relize it till my son brought it up , and my Mother , Brother and I we're talking and my brother blurts out what are we having for dinner since Debbie doesn't eat , and I had to say I eat I just don't eat a lot like I used to lol, so I guess these would be considered nsv's . -

Great inspiring post. Been Mia for a while just living life. My NSV is my overall change in my thinking. Had a bump in the road of dating found out me wonderful well was not so much and the old me would of harped to figure out why and after a month or so gotten over it . The new me within two days is moving forward slightly bruised but not looking back. I got banded to be healthier which resulted in me being happier which resulted in me truly not settling less than I deserve . I know people say it hell I said it but settled this time no settling. Which I'm over the moon about to be living what I have been preaching lol... On a gym note I'm doing burpees wth can't do a lot but I'm doing them and each time I do it I'm in awe that I'm doing it. Sept 2013 couldn't do it and know I'm doing several during my classes. I beam in Btwn gasping for air as I'm working out not cause I can't do the workout but because I keep pushing my limits to be a healthier person. My trainer doesn't know about the lap band but his encouragement n motivation has transformed my body as well he pushed and believed in me when I sure I couldn't do the workouts. Now I'm a gym rat lol -

I'm so happy I found this thread. All of your stories are so wonderful. When I began this process back in September 2013, I made a list called "I Will...". I've been adding to it and it includes many of the things you have posted here as NSVs. Those are my goals and the reasons I started the LapBand process. I'm now 9 days post op, still on liquids for five more weeks, no fill yet, and here is what I have as NSVs so far: I walk every day on the treadmill and add a minute per day. I'm up to 21 minutes at 3mph no incline. I'm starting to look forward to it more than dreading it. I'm over a mile already. I have more energy and although this was my first Saturday I could have slept in in weeks, I got out of bed early with a spring in my step. I found MyFitnessPal.com and I watch my intake much better now and look forward to recording my exercise. I drink a lot of water and prefer plain water to flavored water. My breath smells better. I honestly thought it would go the other way from such a strict diet and higher protein, but hey. I'll take it. I'm eager to get outside and socialize. I'm not SO TIRED all the time. My back and knees are not hurting from daily existence. I'm off NSAIDs for several months and Tylenol is controlling my arthritis pain pretty well for now. My husband, the WLS skeptic, pointed out last night that the chunk of weight loss I've had since February can't be from the March 13 band since I have no fill. I pointed out that it's a process, of which this is a first step, in discipline and lifetime habit changing, and that the band will always and forever only be a tool in the toolbox. The lifetime work still has to come from me. (A week ago, the night before my surgery, he referred to LapBand as the easy fix.) The NSV here is that I don't give a flying fig what he thinks, but it's nice to prove a skeptic wrong, and see his expression when I come up from the basement sweaty each day from my workout. Keep posting, everyone. You inspire me daily. -

Hey everyone! Happy Labor Day. Hope you are all well. Just checking in. I’m heading into my week 7. So far so good. Glad I can finally begin to do some intense workouts. Still feel some pain on my left side so I will take it somewhat easy. Lol. I feel so good and loving all the NSV. So far I’ve lost 37lbs since the day of surgery.
