I got my band on 7/31/07 and I'm down about 90 lbs. Last fill was 6/30/08. All summer I was fine. I felt enough restriction but not a whole lot. Had a couple of PBs and threw up occasionally if I ate too fast. I have worked from my home office for six years and recently (3 wks ago) went back into the office. People eat in offices - A LOT - and after several lunches out I realized I'm eating more than normal and have tried to slow down. My problem is that now no matter how little I eat I get pains in my chest and shoulder blade area. I throw up EVERY time I eat, sometimes before I even leave the restaurant and I can't drink very much without pain or throwing up. I've tried drinking hot liquids, to no avail. I then started taking Children's Mucinex because I have some allergies going as well, but nothing helps. Now I'm waking up with food particles and liquids coming out of my nose at night. (sorry if TMI) It's really scaring me. I don't want to call the doctor because I'm afraid of him taking the fill out and me gaining weight again. Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas? Thanks a bunch!!

Pre op diet misery, cheat and allergies
Butterflywarrior posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So my sleeve surgery is Monday but my very limited pre op diet of seven days gas been awful. I knew aspartame gave me mugraines so avoided that ingredient but got primere with sucralose and popsicles with the same as well as crystal light pure made with truvia which is stevia and a sugar alcohol My tummy has been hurting every day. I finally ate a bite of my mom's veggie omelette and was told if my blood sugar went hypo I could eat yogurt so my blood sugar wasn't quite hypo and I had nonfat Greek honey yogurt. Sure felt better but felt so guilty for cheating and like hope I'm not messing up my stomach prep for surgery Last night after crystal light pure, I threw up once with six episodes all this foamy stuff. Sorry tmi. Number two s been all the runs as well so called weight clinic nurse and they are having me quit all artificial sweeteners as they and I feel they are the culprit and allowing me Protein powder...found one with 25grams of protein and sweet with stevia which is a nature made plant and I can have it in skim milk!!!! Yay So stomach is already way happier and tge Protein Powder taste good not chalky Anyone else with similar problems... cheating, malabsorption??etc?? -

My surgery was on Monday. Since then I've had two bowel movements on Tuesday due to medicine from my surgeon but nothing sense. I have been adding MiraLAX to almost everything the past two days but no luck. No gas, no movement, nothing. Is this normal or how long should I let this go? Thanks. -

Hi I was banded on 6/20/2011 and have lost 55 lbs! I'm happy with my band, and glad I did it. I'm sorry if the following is TMI, but i need some advice. Anyways, my period has been so messed up since surgery. I started in July and it was normal. Then a few days later my hubby and I had sex and I started spotting. It lasted about a month and I went to the doctor. She did all the tests...blood work, pap, and even an internal ultrasound. She said everything looked fine and it it probably my hormones from the surgery and from losing so much weight so quickly. Well the last week and a half, I have had my period, but it has been very heavy and its been 10 days. Should I go back to the doctor or just wait it out? I just don't know what to do.

OMG IM STARVING.
Jemma1983 replied to willdamanager's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi guys, my surgery is scheduled for 2nd November and I'm currently on a 2 week pre op diet and I'm also finding it really difficult! I'm allowed 4 pints of semi skimmed milk per day, but I can substitute one pint of milk with one slim fast shake. I'm on day 3 and I'm so hungry! Plus (sorry if tmi) every time I drink my milk I urgently need the bathroom So my body feels completely empty! 11 days to go, and I'm going to stay strong and get it done, especially after reading PorkChopExpress post. 5 Days Post-op Constipation! Help!
Crystal88 replied to mnmlst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got lucky, I had my first stool since Halloween surgery, but....(sorry TMI), it looked a little too dark? Not sure if I should mention it to the Nurse practitioner on Monday. -
I had my surgery in May 2009. My first fill was about 5 weeks later. But just recently, the past 3 weeks - I can't eat or drink. Gradually. Now I can't even drink anything. I've made an appointment on Friday to get it checked out. I thought maybe it was drainage blocking it or something, I have bad allergy/sinus issues. Yesterday I got sick, a cold. Last night, I threw up about 15 times - tmi, sorry, but it was the color of red wine, a little thicker. Anyone know what that is? Or why?? It can't be something I ate, I have not eaten. This morning I was ok, still can't drink really. But I didn't feel that uncomfortable stuck feeling I've had for the past weeks. Then I took another cold medicine pill and this afternoon I threw up again, same color. I am going Friday, but I don't like my doctor, he didn't do the surgery. I had it done in Mexico. So I thought if anyone had any thoughts.....:tongue_smilie: I am miserable. But, I have lost 15 lbs since this started. (down a total of 32, I'd like to loose 40 more and keep off what I have already lost!!) Thanks! Susan

I also took gas x strips starting last night. I felt like I wanted to burp and fart.. sorry if TMI! Let me know what happens.....I'll be sending you positive thoughts!!

Need to get things...moving again. (TMI topic)
Whitney1968 replied to Champ715's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@ I was like you and still am some times. I am 3 months post op and sometimes it's like nothing coming out. BUT, yesterday and today, I finally took a good, hearty poop since my surgery. I'm sorry, TMI, but I kept waiting and waiting for months for it to happen I had to tell someone. LOL Where ya from, Southern Sleever? -
I'm a little over 3 weeks post op as I was banded on 3/12. I have followed my doctor's orders to the letter regarding my diet. I'm on the soft food diet as of now. Prior to the surgery, I was on the pre op diet where I lost 11 lbs. in 2 weeks. I've lost a total of 18 lbs. now. Yes, that's a lot of weight, but I haven't lost anything since the first week post op. Since I started soft/mushy foods, I've not lost. In fact, I've gained. I don't get my first fill for another 3-5 weeks. Here's what my typical diet is: Breakfast-Protein shake 1/2 Apple juice (TMI-To help with constipation) Lunch-3 oz. Turkey lunch meat 1 oz. of cheese 3 crackers Snack- Low fat String Cheese Dinner-3 oz. baked fish 2 TB-Green Beans 2 TB-Mashed Potatoes My Water intake is not as good as it could be, but I do get in around 48 oz. a day. In addition, I'm walking 30 minutes a night on my treadmill 3-4 times a week. What gives? Why is that scale not budging?

Okay ladies, I have a female question for you. I have read some posts of ladies that had not had their periods for awhile prior to surgery but started them back up after their surgery. Has the opposite happened to anyone? I started my last period the day after surgery (2/19). I had it for 7 days but now I am 22 days late (and there is NO WAY I'm preggos). I'm only 40 years old so I hope that I'm not starting early menopause. Up until now, I have been pretty normal (been off birth control for over a year now). Anyone else had this happen? If so, how long until you started back up?

Hi all, Part of the reason for this is actually a little TMI but a lot of people seem to ask about constipation and a couple of alternative therapies I engage in seem to help with this. But also I'd love to hear what weird and wonderful things people have tried and/or are incorporating into their new lives! First homeopathy: I studied homeopathy in psychology at a Uni where the lecturer proceeded to eat a whole box of sleeping pills in front of us. However they were homeopathic. He said it was similar to eating a small mars bar! Now I consider homeopathy and it's principles to be quackery but I'd like to hear from others... Naturopathy: very different from above treats the body in a holistic way including spiritual. I have studied this in anthropology and sociology and I believe it should be studied by all western doctors! In the realm of naturopathy I have tried reflexology. I LOVE reflexology! I have a one hour massage every week and have had symptoms of easier bms, stress relief, insight, reduced pain in sciatica, decrease in headaches, and weight loss feels easier. I also have some mantras that use the mind to heal the body. I have tried enemas and colonic irritations which definitely seem to help my digestion and general feeling of well-being. Although I think some professionals will try and get you to attend more often than is healthy do they make more money. I am interested in trying a coffee enema. Green tea and white tea seem to help me wind down at night, even black tea soothes my nerves. This is debatable but may include the antioxidant properties and placebo effect. I've tried kinoki foot Patches and organic food. I've been vegetarian. That's it for now- what do you think and any more to add!?

Jordien replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lol... kinda like talking about our babies. once you're a mom and have done this sort of stuff, nothing seems like TMI! lol... I hope things get moving for everyone. I give that oatmeal to my little guy who's 4, just realized it. I always buy the high fiber. Figure it can't hurt. Tastes the same. -
Pain, Poop, Tingly Arms, & Gas - 3 days post op
samiaam25 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This will be a post full of many TMIs! I’m 3 days post op from VSG and am still experiencing a ton of pain, even with the pain meds. The worst pain is in my chest. My doctor said it’s just from gas but I’ve been passing gas and it isn’t getting any better. I’ve been walking a few times a day and that helped with passing more gas, actually it worked a bit too well because I pooped myself when I thought it was gas coming 🤦🏻♀️. Told you, TMI! It was a clear slimy consistency so I don’t think it counts as a real bowl movement. I hope I have one soon because I don’t want to take a laxative. I also have a few seconds of excruciating pain whenever I sip something. It doesn’t matter what it is, it hurts right in the middle of my chest, I assume that’s where my new stomach begins. It’s making it really difficult to get any liquids down because of this pain. Last night I noticed both of my hands were swollen. It freaked me out a bit so I called the after hours line for my surgeon. They said it wasn’t anything to worry about.. Today the swelling is down but my arms are tingly for no apparent reason. A heating pad has been helping with the incision pain, that’s really improved over the last two days. I know I’m still healing and it’s a process but this is so hard right now! -
What benefits have you experieince since being Banded?
jlg posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've only been banded since Jun 13, 2008 and I'm down 22lbs. I know that it doesnt' sound like a lot, but I have noticed a difference in my clothes and how they fit as well as how I feel. My husband was banded on June 6, 2008 and he's down almost 40lbs. He's not even working out, just going to work. I've noticed that when I hug him, we are so much closer together and his head has gotten smaller ! Seriously, he used to have a big head! I feel happier, maybe it's because the sex seems soo much better (I know TMI! I have so much more energy while I am at work, and when I'm at home playing with the kids. I want to play with them, not just send them to the game room to watch tv. Realizing that I will one day be soon will be one of those skinny bitches that I wanted to hit in the head with a baked potato (extra sour cream, bacon bits and cheese please  ) ROFLMAO!!!! But seriously, who would have ever thought that I would hear the words come out of my mouth that I wasn't hungry, or better yet that I forgot to eat because I wasn't hungry :confused2:. Now that is some crazy shit! Just typing this, I feel like I am about to cry, because I am realizing that I took the first step in getting my life back. I used to hate getting up early in the morning, but I find myself getting up at 5am to make sure that I get my exercise in before I get the kids up and go to work :Banane34:. I find myself buying clothes sizes smaller now, knowing that I will eventually get into them. Not much smaller, but a size 16 to 14 vs. the 22 that I was wearing (I'm a 20 now). I feel like I am back in college, because I want to go out more and have drinks or go dancing. I still can't bring myself to buy shirts without a cap sleeve because I hate my arms, but I know that I will evenutally get there. My initial goal was to go back to my college Homecoming which is the week of my birthday in October, but then I figured that I was doing it for a group of people that I haven't seen in over 10 years (am I giving away my age now:biggrin:). I'm just realizing that I love me so much more, not because I had the surgery, but because I am realizing that this is the person that I should be. Someone who values herself and no longer hides when someone wants to take a picture. I see myself in a different light now. So ok, here it is................... Better sex  Cuter and smaller clothes :huh2: Closer hugs  Going out more and having fun:thumbup: Being a skinny bitch  Just loving me more  P.S. A shout to all of the ladies who are feeling me right now, because I know this is hard, but it will definitely be worth it (correction, we're worth it). -
I am on the 6th day of my post-op liquid diet...6 more to go. Not sure i can make it. At this point the shakes are making me nauseous. My stomach is constantly churning and I'm in the bathroom every 15 minutes (tmi I know) . Any tips to get through this would be appreciated.

Totally TMI Warning: BMs
Big Wojo replied to bloreorbust's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 weeks out I go about once a day but get the feeling like I have to go a lot but don't really have to. Tmi but when I do go its formed but still very soft I think it has to do with all my daily Vitamins. Highest Weight: 511lbs Pre Surgery: 435lbs Current Weight: 397 -
I used to wonder that as well. Today I am 7 weeks post lower body lift. With the binder I have to wear I can't wear a bra or underwear (sorry if TMI). But you can't tell by the clothes I wear. So today after my shower I tried on for the first time some low cut panties I bought prior to surgery. I truly started crying because they fit like they should on my newly flattened tummy. I always had a large roll that caused a gap and the tops of panties would roll under my "roll". This was not an easy surgery or recovery. But for ME it is worth all of the money, time and pain. Even though I had to apologize to all of my good friends for the pic I took and how I elated I was when I texted it to them! ????

Yes, I had the same problem for the first 10 days or so. Tmi, but was dark orange. I think it's pretty normal and should subside. Good luck!

Oh, Suzanne..I definitely know it's a tool. I needed to be forced to set my life straight Healthwise :biggrin0: I agree, at least those 3 pounds will be ones that STAY off..KWIM? And I found out today why I haven't lost. AF has started...albeit 2 mos late!!! Sorry if that's TMI. I wish I had the energy to exercise more right now. I did ride my bike about 2 miles one evening and I walked about 2 miles another evening, but when I was done I felt like I might pass out. My poor DH, he said exactly what you said about my body being in shock with calorie difference...
