    Several NSVs in one day!

@@rp1980 those aren't good NSV's they are GREAT 28,000 steps i'd have to run hard to keep up wi th you running is against my religion i'd have to walk I can relate to the mention of how many lbs you (and me earlier) "still" have to loose(75 lbs for you) as you think about the above concentrate on well you are doing!!! instead of how much you have to go keep up the great job kathy congrats
  2. I went to Cedar Point amusement park over the weekend and I fit into every roller coaster that I tried! Even the little tiny ones. I've been fearful of trying roller coasters for years now! We also met up with family members whom I haven't seen in a couple years and I received many compliments (including the classic "you better not lose any more weight"). I still have about 75 lbs to lose but it was nice to hear. I also walked 28,000 steps that day (my personal best) and my shorts kept slipping down, even with a belt. All in all, a good weekend!
  3. @@leag78 - hang in there it will start happening more and more...its the sweetest NSV, next to probably the scale showing a loss!
  4. Will be 5 years soon and still going great.....most days don't even think about it anymore, just live every day like any other day. It all becomes second nature and routine.... I prefer my band tight enough to restrict me from overeating....that was my problem before surgery. Could not control my appetite with no self control or discipline.....in other words I could not follow any prescribed diets..... Sure there are foods I will never eat again, but in return I am NEVER hungry, and when I do eat my portions are controlled....IMPOSSIBLE to overeat or indulge......It just doesn't get any better! Very Easy! To me it is about restriction... Diets are the thing of the past, so is the fear of ever being over weight again..... (BTW, the foods I will never eat again, were food groups that are good to eat anyway and should be avoided.....pastas, breads, meat, etc....so it's all for the good...) And I agree...the people who I followed when I first came here, are all gone. There is not much reason to stay, and I often wonder why I still log on.....maybe because it reminds me from where I came and where I am now....my daily NSV I suppose. Every-time I do log on, I click "New Content" under Lap Band forums, and all the posts in the Lap Band section are comprised of people with the sleeve or types other than Lap Band!!!
  5. I went to bingo and was approached by 2 ladies who asked me what's my secret? They said because you have lost some weight. I thanked them because that was the first time that someone outside of my family and friends to notice my weight loss. I was smiling from ear to ear. I'm down 55 lbs and was starting to get worried, like damn was I really that fat?

    6 monthers....

@@cuchas hmmmmm i was 6 months 3 years ago at the time i think i had lost about 70 lbs it took me almost 6 more months to loose my final 35 lbs (reaching goal) if your stats are different (they probably will be) nothing to worry about we all loose lbs in various time periods never, ever compare your weight loss to me or anyone else people have been shot for less don't worry about the time period it takes to loose the weight some people think they will go to bed one night weighing 235 lbs and wake up at GOAL doesn't work that way 11 months or one year, or whatever to reach goal whats the big deal?? you will be looking/feeling better month to month smaller clothes sizes many more wonderful things will happen (NSV's) not sure if you are pre or post op either way good luck kathy

Band to Sleeve lose more slowly?

I've been following another post that was posted by Butterfly23 in the General Gastric Sleeve Discussion titled "Benefits of losing weight slower than expected" where Butterfly23 makes some excellent points to why losing weight slowly is a benefit. These are the points that Butterfly23 posted and have given me a new appreciation. I hope she doesn't mind that I quoted her points in this post. Thank you Butterfly23 for posting these points. (see below) This is the list that Butterfly23 has posted on her post on the benefits of losing slowly: More time to develop healthy eating habits before maintenance Skin has more time to catch up (more time to lotion!) Shifting focus to NSVs like sitting in booths and chairs with arms Less chance of gallstones Opportunity to practice loving kindness towards myself and being grateful for any positive change Chance to manage expectations – if it wasn’t for WLS, I’d be thrilled with my loss, so why not be thrilled now? Practice focusing on my own wins and not comparing self to others Not having to explain to others since loss isn’t dramatic (yet) Chance to trust the process and not focus on the end (self-care, water/protein/low-carb/active) Redefine success as how I feel, not numbers on scale Understanding this is not a diet, this is my lifestyle now, so what is the rush? My favorite is not having to explain to others since loss isn't dramatic (yet) With lapband I lost weight very quickly and people at work were concerned about me thinking that I was ill or maybe dying. I'll never forget one division called me into their area and so very carefully asked if I was sick and if I was OK. WOW! jake

    Ability to Exercise

It took me months post-op to build up to walking 2 miles continuously. I HAD lots of foot and knee pains. I started out by parking as far from my office's front door as possible and walking in. From there I started walking the perimeter of the building 4 times every morning. Like I said, it took months, but eventually I built up my endurance and my feet and knee pains went away. http://www.bariatricpal.com/blogs/entry/31216-nsv-2-you-best-step-off-b-hatch/

    Can't hit 100 lbs...

Hide the scale. Right now it's too much of a trigger for you. Focus on eating well, getting in your fluids and exercising. Try to not weigh yourself for a month. If that's too long, then try for 2 weeks. Look for NSV and focus on living a healthier lifestyle. You can do this!

    Can't respond or post

The reason is that it requires 100 posts on this forum. Easy way to get that is to welcome newbies, congratulate people on NSV etc. You don't need to start 100 posts, just make 100. I think you are up to 6 or 7 now.

    March Sleevers

Surgery 3/26/15 HW: 302 CW: 228 (-74) It is sooooo crazy how if I eat bad foods (bad, bad girl), I don't feel full, but a half a scrambled egg or 3 bites of grilled chicken make me belch like crazy because I am FULL. Obviously this is how I hit 302. It's getting a lot easier to live my new life but I could always use more exercise. Lots of great NSVs Great job, everyone!!! ---- One more thing -- how the H does low-fat vanilla yogurt have 40 grams of sugar and honey roasted peanuts have 4 grams? The sugar content of foods has definitely been eye-opening.

    March Sleevers

NSV - - Coaching daughter tball team this summer - wrapping a normal size towel around me and it fitting! - people that I know fairly well not seeing me for two months and not recognizing me when they do - dressing up - my hair - it feels amazing and looks amazing. I never realized how the food I put in my body could have an effect on my hair! Ever since surgery and better food choices my hair feels/looks good! Like I just went to the salon that day! - exercising- it's actually a little addictive and the days I don't get my at least 3 mile walk in I feel guilty and crappy. - my hubby being able to wrap his arms all around my waist with extra room to spare. This feels sooo good! - my confidence - it has sky rocketed! I walk around my house in a sports bra and don't feel like I have to hide my body in front of my hubby. I know I have so many more but this is what I can think of off my head right now. What are some of yours?

    June 2015 sleevers

I was sleeved on June 9th. I was 239 on surgery day, but my high weight was 244. I weigh 212 as of this morning. Nausea is gone. food is simply fuel, and I don't (often) think of it as my best buddy. That said, I do sometimes miss how it feels to tuck in to a hot hoggie. I bought one for my husband the other day, and pulled out three slices of sliced meat and a bit of melted cheese. It satisfied the craving and I did not feel deprived. I take Biotin and Vitamin D along with my multi vitamin daily. I have an antacid to take with meals. I still get tired from time to time, but know I just need to rest when my body tells me to. No dragon breath yet. I'm wondering when ketosis will kick in. To keep active, I've been doing a lot of yard work and household chores along with walking. I will join the gym this fall when school starts. My husband tells me I no longer snore. My first NSV! Stepping way out of my comfort zone, I booked my first ever massage for July 29th. I've always been too self-conscious to do it before, but now I figure - get over it!~ I'm really looking forward to it.

@ No, do not cry! I felt that same way when I was with my kids, I didn't want to embarrass them. My mom is super morbidly obese and one of my earliest memory's was having a parents come to school day which my mother attended ( she is an artist, painter) After she left one of the little kids said something to me about how big my mom was. We were only 5-7 years old. I never realized my mom was different, I just loved her. I remember that really caught me off guard and I went home and cried which in return made my momma cry. I think that kinda stuck with me so When I was at my heaviest I didn't go up to the school unless I absolutely had to. Most of my daughters friends had never met me. A few months ago my daughter was in a "grace notes" competition for school and I got dressed up and went to watch her. After the competition was over on the way home my daughter said "mom you want to hear something funny?" After you left my friend said "I hope this doesn't offend you but your mom looks like a Barbie doll". Ha! Can you believe it??! I just smiled and said "whatever" but on the inside I was fist pumping ! That my friend was one heck of a NSV!!! You too will have your moments, just wait!

The light has finally come on!

Congratulations on doing so well. And Congrats on your 1st NSV!! :-P food losing it's domination over my thoughts was the best part of VSG WLS. Thoughts about what/when I was going to eat ceased the day after surgery. Up until then, I was always planning my next meal because I KNEW I was going to be hungry in 2 hours, no matter how much I had just eaten. So, I feel uneasy when I read questions about "When can I eat _____ again?" or "I am worried I can't eat ______ ever again." When I read things like this, I am worried the person who posted isn't ready for WLS because it does take a commitment on their part to change their eating habits. And they may still be too attached to certain foods. I was soooooooo ready to be DONE! with the control food had over my life. It looks like you are too! I am so happy for you for taking control of your life. 3-C plan for success! Control what you can (your actions and thoughts). Cope with what you can’t (external emergencies and other’s behavior). Concentrate on what counts. Stay positive. Believe in yourself. Focus on your progress, not perfection.
  25. This is a great NSV, B-52! I'm with you in the easy. My life is so much easier now.
