Your hormones are probably going a little crazy right now, not to mention the recent anesthesia. It will get better! Remind your husband how much you will be saving on future grocery bills and get what you need. Fluids and yogurt go down much easier than dense food so don't worry about that. I had a "no chuncks, no chewing rule" for the first two weeks after surgery. If It couldn't go through a strainer I couldn't eat it. I ate yogurt with fruit but always fished the fruit out. Follow your doctors orders, you don't want to hurt your new tummy. There are a lot of people on here that use the ff, sf syrups. I stay away from the artificial sweetners though personally. Watch your sugar with the ice cream this early out...my doc said keep it all under 10 grams sugar, 10 grams fat per serving. Good luck to you! You are allowed a few breakdowns

Unjury unflavored powder
DestinClair1983 replied to Sassy Pants1's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I put half a scoop of it in the 4 oz yogurt, so with the 5g Protein from the yogurt and 10g from the unjury, I think that's a nice amount for 4 oz. -
Does your sleeve get tighter or looser depending on what you eat?
Oregondaisy replied to 300PoundsDown's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I do have days where I can hardly eat much at all and other days I feel like I can eat too much. It's weird. I have no idea what causes that. Dr. Campos ( Dr Achieves assistant) told me my sleeve has stretched all that it's going to when he did my upper GI in May . I know it's way different when I eat solid Protein than if I eat something mushy like yogurt. -
Koshi go lean is good stuff with milk or in yogurt. I quit having it around because I liked it to much.

2 Weeks Post Op And Having A Hard Time W/ Soft Foods
It's all new replied to peacelovenkarma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am about a week ahead of you and am having similar struggles. Yogurt and poached eggs work, tuna is iffy. I tried ground beef and it was a BAD idea even though the Dr. included it in my diet. It feels like I'll be living on this for a while. You are not alone! -
2 Weeks Post Op And Having A Hard Time W/ Soft Foods
peacelovenkarma posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyone else out there experience this? I did great with liquids, then creamed soups and yogurts, but this is day 2 of being on soft/ground foods and I feel nauseas when I eat. I have tried chicken salad, turkey meatballs with sauce, scrambled eggs. I don't know if it's the foods or what? I need to eat because if not I need to drink protein shakes, and I'm getting very tired of them! Any help, or advice would be great! -
I had the same issue. I cut it out for a few weeks and then was able to add it back in with some success. I can’t have too much (yogurt is right out but cottage cheese is okay). The reality is I just can’t eat that much anyway as opposed to my pre surgery dairy trigger and so I just don’t get the reaction. Unless of course I drink a protein shake /water that is whey based.

i am feeling so much better! had my first fill (which i posted yesterday as i found some discomfort but today is so much better, and worst case to get the fill out friday as it was feeling restrictive yesterday) but got Yogurt which is easy morning on the go! My Doctor has me on liquids for 2 days after the fill, then to soft foods again for a few more days then to start the transitioning to normal food diet next week which i am so so so excited for!!! I haven't tried pasta again but i did purchase some pulse pasta so i hope that will be better in the next few weeks but craving some proper protein (blending it or having just fish was not the same) It is hard because i don't know anyone who has had this recently (a friend of mine had it and cheated the band and moved to the sleeve, and i met someone in hospital who had the sleeve) so when it comes to these new things it is so hard to turn to places to ask!

Is anyone else having snacking issues? I'm finding that i'm eating less at meals, but i'm snacking more....popsicles (Sugar Free and/or regular-whatever I can get my hands on) crackers, popcorn, chips if they are close (usually NOT-I DO NOT buy them) yogurt, cheese and/or whatever anyone near me is eating...after I eat dinner and feel full, i'll feel like snacking 1-2 hours later, it's harder during the day since i'm working, but i'm making up for it at night and my weight isn't dropping...does anyone have any suggestions for good "snack" foods that satisfy and don't add up? Or better yet will more fill help me with that or does that even make a difference? HELP the poor Snackasaurus...:help::eek::help: :faint:

Unflavored protein powder, just started full liquids, how do you use it?
Bufflehead replied to The Laughing Cat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can stir unflavored protein powder into lots of things: soup, broth, yogurt, and cottage cheese, for example. If you are allowed to eat things like mashed potatoes or oatmeal, you can use it there too. But keep the amounts small or it will taste funky. For example, I used a half of a scoop of the Syntrax Nectar in my chai tea (approx. 8 ounces of tea). Be careful mixing into anything hot -- you need to test it with a food thermometer and make sure it is under 140 degrees or the protein will denature and clump, which is truly nasty. I find it works best with things that have a pretty strong flavor of their own and which are more on the savory side than sweet. -
Happy Valentine's Day
Catracks replied to Suzannesh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't even have a sweet tooth anymore. I didn't much have one before surgery either. I might consider some SF Jello pudding or Yoplait yogurt with some fat free whipped topping ,,, or not. I have the remains of a ribeye in the fridge and it will take me a week to eat it. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! -
5 days out and weigh more than day of surgery
Mom2-3 replied to Mom2-3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you everybody for the great support. I figured it had a lot to do with the IV Fluid just wasn't for sure if anybody else experienced the same thing. As far as starting the pureed food, I have strictly been on Clear liquids and Protein shakes until this point. My Dr. has you do nothing the day of surgery then start clear liquids and Protein Shakes from day 1-day 4 and pureed/full liquid foods from day 5-22. Until today, I wasn't even allowed to have yogurt which I'm sure is why I was having such a difficult time getting my protein in. With pureed foods, at least I can get protein from food sources as well as shakes which is what my Dr prefers. So choosing cream of wheat was a way of having some protein through a food source. It is crazy though how different Dr's view's can be. Even from my Dr and her partner there were differences so I expect us all to have a different journey as far as when to introduce stages of food. It is great to hear that I am not alone in not losing so quickly. I had just been reading different posts where people were talking about losing 12lbs and such the first week and I was feeling like perhaps I was doing something wrong. Once again, thanks so much for the great support and input! -
How Do You Eat Enough Protein Without Drinking It In A Shake?
lsereno replied to Paula Spurlock Butts's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Here's a typical day in Protein for me: Wake-up: Soy Latte, 8 grams protein Breakfast: 1 cup greek yogurt, 1 .slice whole grain toast: 26 grams protein Lunch: 2 oz. light salami, Baby Bel light cheese: 20 grams protein Dinner: 3 oz. of fish, chicken, pork, or beef: 21 grams protein That gets me to 75 grams of protein. Before I could eat so much at one sitting, I had a mid-afternoon snack of light cheese or lunch meat and sometimes an after dinner cup of soy milk to get more protein in. Lynda -
Finding the time to stop
yayawhat replied to MINI-Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bambi thank God you said something, I feel like I can eat too much also! When I read about where people are at this stage, some still just doing liquids and I can have an egg and toast, 1/2 c chili, yogurt, some chicken breast I feel like it's too much. You're right though Loser, I keep saying I can eat too much and my family is looking at me like I'm nuts because proportionally it's still a miniscule amount. I suppose we're the lucky ones, I get a little nervous reading others posts about how much they can't eat. -
I don't mind Egg Beaters too much. I usually add some picante sauce (Texas girl here!) and/or a little sprinkle of low-fat cheese and/or some chopped onions & bell peppers. I do everything possible to avoid the Protein shakes - they are just too think now - ick!!!. I sometimes add 1/4 scoop unflavored Protein powder to yogurt or cottage cheese. I also drink a clear Protein Drink daily (I like the ones by Cytosport - whey Isolate Protein Drink - 130 calories, 32 gr protein and only 1 little carb). My goal is 60-80 gr Protein so this gets me 1/2 way there and gives me 17 oz fluids (actually 34 oz since I pour 1/2 of the drink into an empty bottle and fill both with ice & Water - sip these throughout the day). Of couse have an additional bottle of water & something else to get in the 60+ oz (man, somedays that's hard!).

I saw the NUT today for my B12 shot and check up.. She did a metabolism breath test and recommended I eat more! First time I've ever heard that. I do track and measure everything and had been averaging between 1200-1400 cal a day. She said 2200 if I want to stop maintain and 1700 if I want to keep losing slowly. I'm going to aim for 1800 and start eating 2% yogurt and milk instead of fat free. That should help with feelings of fullness. My usual routine is: latte, yogurt, muesli, fruit, in the morning; cheese or tuna with veg and/or a slice of bread for lunch; soup packed with veg protein, beans, lentils, etc for dinner. Snacks: Annie's Crispy Bars, little bit of dark chocolate (my major splurge), Enlighten ice cream bar. I definitely get in all my protein and usually get in my fluids.

Hey! I’m the newbie [emoji4]
dreamingsmall replied to Simply_Jaz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sorry I am hearing 6 ounces and 8 ounces and your only a few days in, have you not got a limit your surgeon said you should follow? Stock is like water but I was not allowed more than 4 ounces per sitting of soup/yogurt/cream of wheat but could not manage that amount of soup. But its all fine aslong as your plan allows for that amount. How many calories is that a day? I am 3 months in and not. allowed over 800 cals, what you describe sounds more than that. Though all plans are different. You are not hungry you are still healing so the growling feels real but it settles. Eating after 10pm is a bad idea, hunger will not kill you so if your hungry after 10pm next time just wait till tommorow, you need to get into good habits. -
Try thinning out with broth. I like to garnish with diced avocado, diced tomato and a scoop of plain greek yogurt instead of sour cream. It's less fat more Protein. However I agree with @@lauraellen80 you may ant to try it plain first to make sure your tummy can tolerate it. All dressed up it's hard to tell what you are reacting to.

ADJUSTING TO EATING....
JamieLogical replied to heartonmysleeve82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I would have a much harder time with the no drinking while eating than I really did. I was a bit lucky in that my surgeon only requires I stop 5 minutes before eating and wait 20 minutes after eating. I've heard of some surgeons saying an hour before and an hour after! How could you possibly get all your Water in if you can't drink for like 80% of the day??!?! Anyway, when I first started eating solid foods post-op, it was a little challenging, because I was used to being able to "wash down" dry foods. So, that took a little getting used to. I found it was best just to not have water within reach while I was eating, otherwise I would drink without even thinking about it. I had to re-train my brain. One fascinating thing I learned was that I had CLEARLY been using drinking while eating as a means of eating more food pre-op, without even realizing it. The first time I got a "full" sensation while eating solids post-op, my instinct was to reach for the water to wash down the food so I could eat more! I never realized that about myself until I was post-op. I will say that, while I am cleared by my surgeon to drink 20 minutes after eating, I often find that after a full meal, I need to wait about 40-45 minutes anyway. Otherwise I feel overfull and uncomfortable. If I am just having a small snack, like a cheese stick or some yogurt, then it is easier for me to drink sooner after eating. -

What do you eat for breakfast?
mousecat88 replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always have a greek yogurt. Easy to grab and bring to work. On the weekends, maybe cottage cheese or eggs or a shake. Nothing fancy.
