I believe you're saying that you are having two different symptoms; reflux (acid burning in you stomach/throat) and gas (usually with referred pain, sometimes in your back or left shoulder). You need to call your doc about the reflux. If he hasn't given you an Rx for it, ask for one. Mine sent me home with Nexium (Rx). I didn't have it for long luckily...mainly at the beginning and then every once in awhile for another month. The reflux acid on your new pouch and stoma can cause more inflammation and even ulcers. As far as the gas goes, there's not much you can do as it's trapped air in your abdomen from them filling you up with air to help with the surgery, and it just needs to be absorbed by your body. The walking does help to more the air around and help your body to absorb it. There's a debate as to whether the GasX helps other than in your gastrointestinal system, but I certainly used it (you can take several at a time). I also used a heating pad on the areas that hurt and that helped me. I also took a gentle laxative a few days out (for just one day) to get things moving along and that made me feel a lot better (TMI- I started really 'tooting' after that). Good luck to you and please call the doc if you're having any reflux. -BG

Feeling like I'm so gross right now :(
stephyyy2828 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 7 days pos op and Every morning my breath is so bad it makes me nauseous. I brush my teeth like 6 times a day. I feel like in general I smell so bad for some reason. I try to shower everyday because if it. Might be tmi but going to the bathroom I'm so disgusted with myself. Also been avoiding people because my self confidence is so low right now. Has anyone experience this too? How are you coping with it? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I'm supposed to get filled on Tuesday, September 20. My incisions still haven't healed yet and I'm not sure why. Some of them still have scabs and then they fall off and have yellow puss (gross, sorry for the TMI). Am I going to be ready for a fill or will they not let me because my incisions haven't healed completely yet???

Hi friends, well I've been rolling along thinking I'm the greatest thing since sliced bread, doing everything right to the letter, wondering why others are having troubles, but finally last night I ran into my first bump in the road.I think I now know what "dumping" is. Now I'm not sure why this happened or exactly what I did different from other nights, but I might have eaten too fast or a bit too much and plus I'm now on my surgeon's second phase diet which is puree. Well I ate my 4 oz of protein shake, 2 oz of cottage cheese, 4 oz of a pudding, 1 oz of egg salad and then was lying down to watch computer screen; I fell asleep briefly then woke up to a kinda nasty sense that I either (excuse the TMI that's coming)had to vomit or go to the bathroom, so it was the latter after all, but I sat there pretty miserable for 20 minutes, feeling light headed and nauseus, didn't want to stand from nausea and light headedness, so wow, not much fun!! I take it that was dumping, right? Well, I would like to try to avoid that in the future but not sure what I did

Well it does ease up I think I'm usually the opposite I know tmi. Probably the drugs I'm on has done that to me. But really some people have said when your eating solids it returns to normal, some say drinking shakes have them still checking. In the meantime RUN don't walk when u get the urge

Hi everyone, I'm sorry this is TMI, but I'm 4 days post op and have been having diarrhea, I'm wondering if it's because I haven't eaten anything but liquids, jello, and pudding and that's why it's causing this. Any thoughts? Thank you!

It's my time of the month and I want to eat everything under the sun! How do you all deal with this?

lol... kinda like talking about our babies. once you're a mom and have done this sort of stuff, nothing seems like TMI! lol... I hope things get moving for everyone. I give that oatmeal to my little guy who's 4, just realized it. I always buy the high fiber. Figure it can't hurt. Tastes the same. -

Okay, I was reading a magazine yesterday - since it was "me time" and I found an interesting article. It focussed on hitting 350 minutes a week of exercise, you can do it all in one day - ahhh, not me - or you can devide it up into 6 days a week, or 5 or even 3 - but the key is you have to do 350 minutes a week. I opted for 6 days a week, which averages to be about 60 min a day. I know, 6 days a week is a lot, but I have found that I have to give it my all in the beginning or I just quit. Some people have to start off slow, but for me, if I start off slow, I never get going. Anyhow, I decided to set some goals this week and push myself to do them. I hit the gym this morning, I did a circuit training, where I did 15 min on the elliptical - got my heart rate up - then jumped on the weights (worked my upper body -biceps, triceps, shoulders, back - and thru in the abs). After doing a set of weights, I jumped back on the elliptical for another 15 min, it was at this time my stomach started turning. I pushed anyhow, and did another set of weights. Jumped back on the elliptical machine (I was planning on doing another 10 to 15 min), but I realized my stomache was not settling down. I started dry heaving, which I HATE to do. I don't know about anyone else, but since I've been banding, I cannot throw up. I can PB, or spit up something thats in my pouch, but as far as something that has made it to my stomache, It is not coming back up, no matter what! Anyhow, I had drank some water, and I think that was sitting in my pouch still, and I knew it was about to come up. So I had to cut the elliptical machine short, so I grabbed my towel and headed to the door. I almost made it, but hear it comes, I covered my mouth and out came the water, I knew several saw me. I left in a hurry, so embarrasing. Sorry if this is TMI. Anyhow, I did get in 60 min, despite it all. I'm not sure what made me feel so sick, but I feel better now. I'm about to head to the kitchen and make me a colorful plate of food. Turkey breast, salad greens and some diced apple salad. yum. I'm going to take my measurements later and see where I am too so I can also keep track of them. Goals for the week: 1. Eat Clean 2. Exercise 350 min 3. Get some sleep So far 350 min minus todays 60 min = 290 min to go! Wt - 165.8 - grrrrrrr

What is the average weight loss per week?
SuzeMuze replied to little_mrs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@little_mrs We're all here to help, listen, commiserate and celebrate! It's really hard not to compare yourself with others here- I still do it at times, wondering how someone else who had their surgery at about the same time as me has lost so much more weight than I have before I shake my head and put things into perspective. Yep, I'm losing weight, which is fantastic. But what's even better is my blood sugars have dropped to normal proportions, my hip doesn't hurt anymore, and I actually saw the light (literally) between my thighs after I put on pantyhose the other day! (TMI for some, but hey, it was a major victory dance in the bathroom for me) Those kinds of things put a smile on my face- I try not to stare at scale numbers and attach my success to them. -
Hello everyone! My name is Amy and I'm 22. My starting weight was 320 and I'm currently at 289. My surgery was October 11th so I'm almost two weeks out. Does anyone regret the surgery? I feel like I was maybe too young to get it done - I miss eating meat [emoji24] What were some of the things you drank? I've been drinking water, diluted juices, crystal light. I'm just craving a new flavor im sick of water! What did you eat during your stage 2 phase (soft proteins)? Also TMI but when does the dumping stop!? I had sleeve done and I am too nervous to leave for very long and not be around a bathroom because I'm worried I might have an accident! Thanks in advance!

How Has Your Relationship Changed With That Special One?
BenisaMartim4 replied to Sandra_Baby87's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I had my Psych eval., the doc asked me about our sex life. I simply replied, "what sex life?" With raised eyebrows and shaking his head he replied, "Oh, we are fixing to make your husband a happy, happy man." Well, I am pleased to announce he was 100% RIGHT. Because the drugs I was on completely killed my libido, we had for several years been in what was considered a sexless marriage (once a month or less). Now that I have been able to quit them ALL, we are for sure back in a honeymoon phase (and we have been married for almost 14 years). As a matter of fact (TMI alert!) he is accusing me of trying to collect on his large life insurance policy. I told him it was good for his heart to have a good cardio workout everyday. He has lost 35# himself recently ( I deny being the reason). With my weight loss and his together, there is almost 100# gone between us. The difference is astounding! And I have to admit, it is much better to me now than it was when I was younger too. Now, I am older, more experienced and much less inhibited. He appreciates the differences too. I couldn't be happier...well a boob job might help my feelings, but that is another topic..hehe. My advise is enjoy every aspect of your new life. Take the bull by the horns and ..well you can fill in the rest Have FUUUN!! -
We leave in exactly 10 hours to fly out to San Diego. I am nothing but a ball of nerves right now. I have a few things that I need to get done before we leave out at 3 am, but I cant seem to get moving.... My stomach hurts... *TMI ALERT* but when I get nervous I get the beegee (aka bubble guppies aka bubble guts aka the sh**s)...and I know before we leave I will be paying several trips to the bathroom... Help me calm down... I know I want this surgery...have no issues with going to Mexico....so what is the matter with me?

Pain, Poop, Tingly Arms, & Gas - 3 days post op
samiaam25 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This will be a post full of many TMIs! I’m 3 days post op from VSG and am still experiencing a ton of pain, even with the pain meds. The worst pain is in my chest. My doctor said it’s just from gas but I’ve been passing gas and it isn’t getting any better. I’ve been walking a few times a day and that helped with passing more gas, actually it worked a bit too well because I pooped myself when I thought it was gas coming 🤦🏻♀️. Told you, TMI! It was a clear slimy consistency so I don’t think it counts as a real bowl movement. I hope I have one soon because I don’t want to take a laxative. I also have a few seconds of excruciating pain whenever I sip something. It doesn’t matter what it is, it hurts right in the middle of my chest, I assume that’s where my new stomach begins. It’s making it really difficult to get any liquids down because of this pain. Last night I noticed both of my hands were swollen. It freaked me out a bit so I called the after hours line for my surgeon. They said it wasn’t anything to worry about.. Today the swelling is down but my arms are tingly for no apparent reason. A heating pad has been helping with the incision pain, that’s really improved over the last two days. I know I’m still healing and it’s a process but this is so hard right now! -
Contstipation?
AngelaLou99 replied to mgilbert0429's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Started Liquid Diet Today - Observations
LaDivaDev posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I began my 2-week liquid diet today (RNYGB is scheduled for 8/8). I'm noticing a few things right off the bat - warning - this may be TMI: I've been peeing like CRAZY, and when I feel the urge, it is all of a sudden and incredibly urgent. I felt a bit deprived today as I'm taking in 900-1000 calories per day (I pray this improves), BUT the good news is that my nutritionist provided me with dietary guidelines that allow for solid food consumption in addition to the Protein drinks I'm taking in. Question: has anyone experienced this pee pee phenomenon? Why does it occur? Thanks for the support, as always! -
I have been on iron supplements for several days because my hemoglobin is only 10.1, and it needs to be higher prior to surgery. The supplements are making me miserable. I have irritable bowel syndrome and they are giving me a lot of gas, gas pains and pretty bad diarrhea. Does anyone have any recommendations for a different brand or formulation? I am just taking vegetarian tablets from CVS.

TMI.... What do you do when you have stomach bug post WLS
ocgirl15 posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ok I have a stomach bug...7months post op. TMI...Diarrhea since last Saturday. I am staying hydrated so that's good. Mild fever at the beginning. My former go to foods are not ideal anymore. BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apples and toast... Actually allergic to apples ) would make me feel worse I am sure. What soothes your stomach? Any OTC medicines you recommend? At this point there is nothing my surgeon told me to avoid except NSAIDS.
