  1. Silly me but what is an NSV? And I am pretty sure I can't wait for one
  2. Well as my title says I am 11 weeks post op today and I am down 60.2 lbs!!!! I am so excited and happy with my progress I could just scream it from the roof tops!! This surgery was not something I wanted to do, it was recommended to me by a doctor I was seeing to repair my ventral hernia. So we started looking into it. I was so afraid of the surgery, the recovery, the way I would have to eat, etc. I don't think there was one part that didn't scare me. I am glad that I had to do a 6 month supervised diet because it gave me time to wrap my head around all the changes and to make sure I thought I could do it. Well I did it and I am doing it. Nothing went as I thought and that is a good thing. I have had very few problems and the ones I have had have been minor. Grant it the weight I am at now is a weight a lot people are starting their journey at, but for me with a highest weight of 324, and pre op diet weight of 314.8 I have come a long way. I still have a ways to go, but I truly believe I can do this. I feel so much better already. The NSV's are happening daily. Like just the other night we went to dinner and I did my usual check out the booth before I sit down, picked the side that looked bigger and sat down. I literally squeal out loud almost everytime I sit in a booth and I have like 5 inches between me and the table now. My family just laughs at me. It's little things like this that amaze me everyday. I just wanted to share my joy this morning!! This site has been a god send for me, pre op and post op. I try my best to encourage and give back posting when I can. For anyone out there just starting their journey, when you read it will get better, IT DOES GET BETTER!! Sometimes it is hard to believe that but it does!! Have a great Monday everyone and drink your water!! lol
  3. That's a great NSV! Congrats,,that must feel so awesome!!

    Hadda Nsv

Great NSV! Dropping sizes is always a good one! Congrats!
  6. I gave up soda last year... it started as giving up diet soda, but i didnt want to gain, so i limited the sugar soda to a glass once or twice a month. So when they said no more after surgery, luckily i was in the right place that it didn't cause a problem. I have to say though... before I started the liquid pre-op diet I had been eating toast every night, with butter. It's my go to craving when I diet. Not sure why. But the most amazing thing was... when I started liquids on Monday, I actually didn't have a problem with toast. I didn't even think of it until last night (Wednesday). NSV? I think so. But back to the topic i guess... what do I miss? At this phase of my journey... I miss salty, savory and crunchy. A taste other than chocolate in my mouth.
  7. Oooh! I love rollercoasters! I've been too afraid to even try them for years. What a fantastic day you had and there is nothing better than the adoration of your children! Big thumbs up for this NSV!

    List Your NSVs for Inspiration

Thank you everyone for posting these. I am so happy for all of you. It is now 6 days until I joint to ranks of all you successful bandsters. On my blog months ago I posted my "wish list" of NSVs. I thought I would let the LBT community see what I am aiming for: 1) Walking into a regular clothing store and finding a new outfit for work (Big & Tall clothes are so expensive and they are cheaply made) 2) Traveling in Coach (It is great to fly Business Class but very expensive just because I cannot fit in a coach seat) 3) Riding roller coasters (I love thrill rides but often find myself waiting in line only to not have the restraint not fit my body) 4) Riding a bike (without worry of breaking it or running out of breath) 5) Not fearing the table at a restaurant (I never know if I will fit in the seat or booth. And if I do fit, I have to be careful not to break the chair when I move.) 6) Taking off my shirt when I go to the beach (It takes a long time to dry when you wear a shirt in the Water. And its hard to tan something that is covered up.) 7) A cheaper food bill (Not overindulging means cheaper food bills. When I go out I cannot wait to order from the children's menu and actually be satisfied.) 8) Not being afraid to exercise (As I mentioned above it is rough to put your body through its paces and then have it break because it cannot handle basic cardio and strength training.) 9) Riding a motorcycle (I want to be able to ride my own bike with my partner but most of them have weight limits of 400 lbs.)
  9. My favorite recent NSV - I just bought a pair of WHITE crop pants. Now for those of you "triangles" out there who always looked good in white pants - congrats. But for us pears, this was a huge leap. My first pair of white pants since...oh I don't know, grade school? My favorite NSV - feeling like I fit in and am "normal". People aren't looking or judging the fat girl anymore. And I have to say that the fact that food doesn't seem to have as much of a hold over me anymore is a great reliever. The feeling of having some sort of control of my food issues has been very liberating.
  10. What the heck is a NSV???? Is that some sort of woman thing??

    Aha Moment

If you get a chance, write down a long list of your "wants" that relate to the band and getting healthier. I did one before my surgery, and I can not tell you how amazing it felt as I lost weight to check all of those things I was looking forward to off my list as I they became part of my reality. Having a standard bath towel wrap around with room to spare was an NSV that I would not have wanted to miss noting! I have just one more to check off... not being a fat bride... so hopefully my BF will step it up sometime soon! Hee hee... Seriously though, I found that list really helpful (I did it as a pro/con list to use when I was having second thoughts about surgery) and hope that, if you do one, you'll get as much out of it as I did. Here's a link to mine if you want to take a look. Congratulations on your Aha moment! And, best wishes for much success!! Best, Catherine

    Accountability

@Gillybean I GAINED 7.5lbs once I switched from liquid to food, so consider yourself lucky. haha. Seriously though, I think this is totally normal. My surgeon said not to expect any loss for 6 weeks. And once we reach the green zone, we won't be losing more than 1-2lbs a week. So actually.. you are doing great. Avoid the scale for the next month. @whymomwhy Sounds like things are going well. @Lose_It Thats smart. I'm doing the same and no major issues. I found shredded beef in sauce worked A LOT better for me than ground beef with sauce. Easier to chew down. Its funny certain things work and certain things don't. Fish has also been very easy to eat. Well today I had my first NSV! I am going on a cruise in a week and I ordered 2 formal dresses online (one in size 18, one in a 20.. I normally wear 20). Tried it on when it arrived today and a size 18 was way too big on top! The dress is plus size so didn't even come in a 16 which I needed. I cannot wait til I am out of plus size entirely, but for now... this feels pretty good Here was my day: Breakfast - 1/4cup yogurt (I noticed my band was really tight this morning) snack - 8oz milk lunch - 1/3cup shredded beef, 1/4cup peaches, 2 small pieces of broccoli Snack - 8oz milk dinner - 1/2cup chicken noodle soup Snack - 8oz milk Exercise - did 30 minutes on the elliptical, some arm raises with 5 lb weights, and leg stretches.

    Reached your personal goal???

my 1 year band-iversary is tomorrow (and Thursday) and while i haven't reached my personal goal (not sure if I had one), I have lost over 80 lbs. I originally wanted to hit 140, dr. said that may be an unattainable goal, so i settled on 160 - but I am in a 10/12 and headed for my TT next month... so I have reached a NSV in that I don't shop in the women's department

Lose_It, we all have bad days. Be determined to make tomorrow a better one. And if you know your eating may not be the best on a day make sure to get that exercise in. I am proud of you for making the needed changes to make your health a priority. I know how you feel 100%.. My temp job has taken over my life... I'm not even dinner til 9pm some nights and when I do it's a lean cuisine. Gotta readjust my priorities :/ Breakfast - 6oz yogurt lunch - 2/3c chicken chili, 3 tortilla chips, 1/4 banana snack - 5oz vanilla yogurt, 1/8c blueberries Dinner - 2/3 lean cuisine fajita egg rolls with 2 tbsp hot salsa, 1/2 plum. Worst heartburn ever!!! UGH. Snack - 8oz milk.. Hope this helps with heart burn. Exercise - 30 min elliptical Had a NSV today. Went to Victoria's Secret, got measured (I actually fit into their stuff for the first time in my life) and bought a gorgeous bra and panty set. I feel sexy in it! Who woulda thought? Proud of you all.. Lets keep up the good work going into the weekend.

Thanks so much Breakfast - 5oz yogurt lunch - 1/4 turkey wrap with light ranch, 1 piece of strawberry, 1/2 pickle spear dinner - 1/2 of a chicken taco snack - 10oz mango raspberry smoothie from Ben & Jerrys. I asked for half size so it was only 125 cals vs 250. Was my treat of the week. Lots of Water Walked for a couple hours Today I had a NSV. I went to a THEME Park!!! First time in probably 4 years, and better yet I was able to fit on every single ride. I was careful not to go on rides that put pressure on my port area. I am so happy. Will make a post about this with pictures tomorrow. Thank you all for the encouragement and I hope you all had good weekends

    Summer Weightloss Challenge

Well, my NSV has to do with my hording. I gave 2.5 big black lawn & leaf bags of clothes to the help house. I was going to bring them to the bash, but I felt that they were more needed here. I was able to let them go without much stress.

    Summer Weightloss Challenge

Come on ya'll! The water's fine in Onederland! Well done! Okay, I need to post a couple of NSV's. I think this is my first official NSV post, although I suppose I have been having them fairly regularly...compliments from people, etc etc My shoes are too big. My feet just don't fill them up anymore. My slippers slide off or I sling them off as I walk around in them at home, and my dressier slides are way big, my feet are just swimming in them! Huh. AND my pants are dragging. I guess I just have less butt to keep them pulled up off the ground? My clothing choices these past years have been sloppily big, I'll admit, and so these pants are now under the heels of my too big shoes. They get wet at the hem if it's rainy outside. And not just from splashing, I'm walking on the backs of these things! Wowza! Of all the NSV's to catch my attention...I'm a bit more dumbfounded than excited, but still happy!!
