  1. That is a great example of an NSV! Congratulations! Now can you come weed my garden? LOL!

    How about some NSVs!?!?

well, this is related to the scale, but still a nsv lol i hadn't logged on here in a while and decided to update my ticker. it moved me to tears to have a visual representation of my journey. when you're a noob and you see everyone's success, you think, wow they've come so far and i'm just beginning! but, oh, when *your* ticker finally moves and even gets to the halfway mark, it feels soooooo great! i'm 71lbs from my highest weight, 48 from surgery. woohoo!!

    Scales?

JamieLogical- love the second picture on your link where the person is standing on the scale and pressing a button! ROFL! (If I could get off the floor by myself, that is!). I think one of my NSV's would be doing what that picture shows!! ????????
  4. Whoo Hooo! I fit into a regular and attractive padded bra! A special NSV for me and my booblets.

  5. I realized last night at the Y that I'm now at a point where I feel "normal" fat as opposed to "feel like I have to apologize for taking up space and offending people's eyes" fat. I'm still obese, but I notice that I don't immediately race from the pool to wrap a towel around me to cover myself up now. NSV, I guess?

      gowalking

Yup. Positive changes in how we look/feel are NSVs.

You know, it's a weird feeling to NOT be invisible anymore. Men notice me and women now ask me all the time about where I shop, what makeup I wear, where I got my shoes, get my hair done! It's such an odd feeling like having been a ghost before and only now really being a live and a part of society. I know how you feel, it's such a big change so fast, it takes the mind a moment to catch up! I do now feel like I'm a regular person who doesn't stick out like a sore thumb everywhere I go. It's great to be alive and well for the first time in a long time! Congrats to you on how far you have come, keep it up and keep us posted!

  6. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one. This morning, one of our vendors brought in donuts from this fabulous bakery. Just looking at them, the freshness of dumping over rode the desire to have a bite. This is a victory for me. My first NSV! I don't ever remember turning down a donut. Never. Ever. I'm the one who usually has seconds and thirds. GO ME! DJMOR - sorry that you are in the 20%. I know it must be hard. I had told myself that if I was in the 20%, it would just mean that I have to fight harder. I am going to stay away! I am committed to this lifestyle change.

    OCTOBER 2014

Just got back from an all inclusive vacation to Punta Cana, DR. And, it started off with lots of bad habits - example - alcohol and then the need for nachos. After 2 days, the Bariatric Gods intervened and I got sick.... Let's just say I met a guy named "John".... I spent two days in the bathroom.... After that, no more alcohol. I did have more bread than normal just to settle stomach. (I'm not really a bread person so you know it was necessary). Anyway, I ended up loosing 6 pounds on vacation!!!! Lol. Now that I'm home, I'm back on track! A few NSV - no extender for the airplane seatbelt, size 16-18 clothing including " sexy" dresses. And, a rather attractive Dominican telling me I had gorgeous legs!

  11. Made you look. I believe these are called NSV. In the car: I can pop the truck w/o having to open the door to reach the latch on the floor I can reach down to pick something up off the floor w/o unbuckling my seatbelt I can climb into the truck w/o my husband pushing me in (but that doesn't stop him for helping me - he likes the view) LOL At home: I can bend down to cut my own toenails w/o gasping for air after each toe I can get up and down from the floor with more ease I can dry my own back I can touch the bottom of the washing machine drum when unloading At work: I can cross my legs under the desk Everyday I can see progress. I'm so happy. Have a GREAT day everyone!
  12. Nsv... For me, I am back sleeping in our bed together with my husband and we are very much enjoying each other and can sleep the whole night together because I don't snore anymore. Soo happy!!

    So...a water park happened...

Congrats. That is a pretty large list of NSV's (and technically one SV, I guess!) for one day! I hope to be in your shoes next summer, not dreading our annual trip to the amusement/water park.

    So...a water park happened...

I miss Water parks! I have not done that since I gained all my weight. Congratulations! What a great NSV.

    Labor Day Challenge!

175.8 today. It's been a good week even with a break-up, constipation and my period will prob arrive. Depressed and bloated and still losing? In my world we call that NSV!

    So...a water park happened...

@LipstickLady. That was an awesome NSV for you. It makes us truly grateful for our new lives when we can remember how it used to be. Weight loss is very freeing. I am so happy you had a great time. I too remember how I used to struggle to keep up while never complaining because I didn't want others to see how hard it was for me. I haven't been to a water park yet, but it is on my agenda. Congrats to you!!

    NSV shout outs

My NSV this week - I ordered new jeans from the Old Navy clearance section online. Was wearing 24 before I started the surgery program in March, ordered a 20 & a 18 thinking that should take me though Christmas (had the surgery on July 1). Got them in the mail on Saturday, tried them on and they were both too big! I have to go to the store and exchange them for 16 and 14 maybe! My elation really comes from the fact that I ordered them from the normal women's section, not plus size, so I CAN go to the store to exchange instead of having to mail them back in! Both aspects make me happy! Woohoo! I also order a clearance skirt in Large thinking I would be there in a few months, would be nice to have ready for then. Well, it fits NOW! Double woohoos!
  18. @@CherieN how tall are you? I'm 5'8 and 243 but I'm still a 2 at Torrid :-/ But it's better than the 4 I used to be! I started at 325, too. My NSV is I bought a pair of sexy heels and I can actually walk in them comfortably!
  19. NSV First time I was able to buy jeans out of the plus size section!

  20. So I've been REALLY putting in a good fight to lose weight going into surgery and to change my old habits NOW so that it's not so foreign afterwards. In June, I could barely walk across my house without having to sit down. 2 weeks ago, I nearly died going around the block and yesterday, I walked 2 miles! Seriously my heart was pounding out of my chest and I was coughing like a 50yr smoker when I got home(if home counts as the front lawn and my fat ass laying on it like a fish pulled out of a lake LOL), but I was so proud! I walked 2 miles!!!! At this rate I wonder if I can get to light jogging even before my surgery(I wish!)
  21. Getting up after being seated for an extended period of time and walking without pain. I still revel in this. I was so used to being in pain all the time that the lack of it is a marvel and definitely my top NSV.
  22. Looking in the mirror and not disliking what's looking back! Best NSV ever!
  23. Hi All - Normally, I lurk and respond to posts, especially to offer encouragement. Today, I want to share some successes for me. It was an incredible day. Almost brought tears to my eyes. I am a 56 yr old male. VSG surgery on 16-April-2015. Heavy Weight right before surgery 2-week preop diet was 387 lbs. Some notable SVs and NSVs to share: SV --- Today I was so excited to see my weight was ... 299. Down 88 lbs since my surgery. I honestly do not remember the last time I weighed in the 200's. I suspect 15+ years ago. NSV --- Just this last week, I was amazed to find that my pants size is down from 60 to 50. Thats so hard to believe!!!! The bottom line here is that VSG works, and can work fantastically!!!!!! -RC-

    Start dieting before surgery?

You didn't say how close you are to your surgery date? But 2 things I would start doing right now, to make things easier. 1) Up your Protein to carbs ratio - shoot for 75% of your calories from lean protein sources - chicken, pork loin, turkey, 93% lean hamburger. And add more vegetables to your diet - broccoli, califlower, brussel sprouts.... you get the idea. :-) 2) Start a walking program. If you are like me, I had lots of pain in my feet and knees. I had to start gradually (as in, I started parking at the far end of the parking lot each time I went to the store or work) I started out walking 4 laps around the interior of my office each morning and worked my way up. Hope these tips help, Keep taking small important steps, they will all add up to bigger success. http://www.bariatricpal.com/blogs/entry/31216-nsv-2-you-best-step-off-b-hatch/
