My husband stayed. I actually slept in the foldout chair bc it was more comfortable and he slept in my bed!! Also, honestly a shower was the last thing I was thinking about the day I left was a shower!

After 3 years, Dr doesn't like my band and I'm starting over
kmt1973 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Banded 3/19/2012 this summer had to get all fluid taken out. Lost total of 40 lbs, gained back 30 recently. Dr wanted to do revision, bc of stomach coming up over band. Insurance wouldn't pay for new wls so, I said to keep my band. I'm all good now, it went back down with unfill and liquid diet. I go next week for another fill(3rd since unfilled), right now I still have no restriction. With my Dr hating the band now, and not doing them anymore, I feel so isolated. Started local support group this week, but no one has had the band. I feel like I'm on my own. Could anyone give me an encouraging lapband story? -
Birth Control/pregnancy/vaca temptations!
Tiffykins replied to greeneyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just check with your doctor about which bc option will work best for you. For the pregnancy, the number one priority is to get out of ketosis. Meaning you have to eat a more balanced diet with carbs and stop the high or only Protein immediately. Ketosis can cause fetal brain issues, and is very dangerous. The baby will get what it needs from the mother's body. The key is feed your body to ensure you do not suffer from the baby draining everything out of your system. As for vacation, relax. You can get back on program when you get home. Stressing about it now isn't going to help you right now. Believe naturally skinny people vacation, and enjoy treats here and there. Remember, this surgery and lifestyle is about a lifetime commitment not just while we're home, and trying to get to goal. You'll do great, just enjoy vacation and worry about the other stuff after you get home. -
He got that suit in college >20 years ago and never wore it bc he quickly outgrew it. He was ecstatic to wear it, but I agree it's too big He's still struggling with wearing smaller clothes. It's all mental and I admit it took me a while too.

How Come We Never Look Like We Think We Look (Especially in Photos)???
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in The Lounge
From your lips to God's ears sweetie! And I don't have the suckage lottery with the BC. LOL. Sounds like your's sucks wind too. ((hugs)) Sad to hear how so many on your mom's side have it. Here's to being able to go out for a run, or at least a slow jog one day, right? (Hey, it's our party, we can dream. Right?) -

Surgeon says I should only focus on losing 50-70% of excess weight -Boo!
LipstickLady replied to Omieliz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There is no reason you can't lose 100% of your excess weight. It may be a challenge, but MANY people do it. Now, I will say that shooting for a "normal" BMI could be BS because the BMI chart is ridiculous. MANY athletes are categorized as "obese" simply because of their height/weight. BMI does not take body fat into account at all, which is ridiculous. There is no reason to expect that you will only lose 50% of your excess weight either. YOU WILL DO WHAT YOU WORK FOR. YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS WILL DIRECTLY EQUAL YOUR EFFORTS. That's really the bottom line. -

anyone forget to feed others?
No game replied to devonmae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well they are all fed, fat and happy..... -
Thanks so much for responding!!! I️ don’t even think the insurance coordinator called BC because just like you mentioned, most of BCBS requires it. It’s always good to do your own research!

The Downside Of Weight Loss..
bellabbr replied to bellabbr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry if that came across as depressing or I don't own it. Trust me I do and I would do it again a thousand times over, but there are downsides to it. Maybe small ones but there are. I don't know if because of my weight I was depressed for so long and the transition was difficult and maybe no one else feels this way, but to say its been easy about everything?? No it hasn't. It's a very difficult transition your whole life changes, and no one really talks about it. Its just like explaining to someone who doesn't have kids how their life will change. You can't. Its just one of those things that they have to live it, so if for all of you guys it has been amazing and easy breezy, congratulations, but for me it hasn't. There is a downside to it, And yes maybe I was stupid but I really thought after all this work I would look good in a 2 piece and that is not the case. I F*88 care like you nicely put. I want a nice body because I worked hard for it. Oh and don't worry I wont sabotage anything, I would do it all again in a heartbeat and like I said the pros outweighs the cons by thousands but to say there is no change and its a bit difficult to deal with is just not true and that is what everyone and what I read about before I had this surgery said. ETA: and I agree its irritating how much better people will treat you now that you are skinny. Guys will open doors and strike up conversations. Its all very shallow bc I can bet my life on it, at 240 lbs they wouldn't even think twice about opening a door for me. -
Still waiting for approval
aquarious12585 replied to Ronnie0422's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery date was set for yesterday and I was denied again on Tues. So frustrating. My surgeon wants to appeal. I'm ready to just be done with all the BS here and head to Mexico. I'd actually pay less there then my out of pocket with insurance here! -
pro's / con's to being honest about having surgery
pumpkin07 replied to newmefeb8's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was very honest about my surgery. But if I had it to do over again...not sure I would tell many people. Because for one thing it would be funny as hell for everyone to think I totally figured it out after 20 years of fat. That would be hilarious. I know they just would not understand it and that would be so funny. It is just a personal decision, but it was easier for me to be honest. But my real reason for being honest is bc I thought it might help people that were considering the surgery. It didn't. No one has been interested, some have been critical. It is the most non-interesting subject to people for whatever reason. I'm sure if I failed thought they would be all over that, right? Everyone is always quicker to talk about who failed than who succeeded. Not always, but the news travels very fast. If you tell it will be hot gossip, but you will not get any credit for your weight loss - your doctor will. If you regain, you will be to blame, right? A personal choice, I think both options are great. Just choose. Just a warning, if you decide to hide it keep your story VERY consistent about how you are losing weight. Multiple lies are very confusing. The truth is easier to remember. -
Question: Can you eat pureed chili for the puree diet? I was just wondering bc I feel like the ground beef wouldn't completley puree....or would it? I don't have much experience pureeing things! I start puree in a couple of days.... thanks

Just got my surgery date Today
newjerseygirl60 replied to newjerseygirl60's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know I keep given bits and pieces I am so excited some things are coming back to me one of the prescriptions my Dr. gave me was for nausea, pain, and to treat reflux even thought I don't have reflux and never did he said he wanted me to take it everyday for a precaution. I also think you guys should talk to your caseworkers about having your insurance company to pay for your Vitamins too like mine does I have BC/BS and my caseworker hooked me up. Since we have to take them for the rest of our lives and I also will be using my flexable spending account to pay my 25$ copay. -
I have had two friends who were infertile with no real reason. One was tiny. After she gained 20 lbs, she conceived. Another, was a friend who did medifast with me. She was infertile for so long, they adopted two babies. Seven years later (her kids now 7 and 4), she did medifast. Three months in, she finds out she is pregnant. Turns out, if you lose weight quickly, it messes with your hormones. So, the lesson is to now use bc until the year Mark. And good luck!!! Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

Tell me about your surgery timeline pls
KatFight replied to Nikki P.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
*FSA So, I lost one month from when pulmonologist did my PFT to when my second appt was, one month apart and another approx. month from second visit to when I discovered the sleep center never requested a pre-approval from my ins. And, by the way, my PFT was perfect. Why not give a sleep study slip the day of the PFT? Later found out that staff was abrasive and unwilling to work with hospital bc the dr has a financial interest in the sleep center! This was never shared with me up-front. Please know that you do not have to go to exact dr your doctor refers you to. Ask dr. if you’re unsure. I expected top-notch care as this was a referral and was in dismay. Believe me, I told my surgeon this too. -
Hello everyone, My name is Leann, I am 38 years old and I live in Surrey,BC. I am just starting out on this journey and would love to have someone to talk to or go through this with a buddy. I have a consult next week at Puget Sound Surgical in Bellingham and am hoping to have surgery end of April. Is there anyone else out there from the lower mainland going through this process or have gone ahead of me,I would love to connect. Llcourage@shaw.ca Thanks, Leann

The hospital where I was did not allow family members to stay overnight unless it was an extraordinary circumstance. I thought this was good bc that way everyone can get their rest, and the nursing staff takes great care of you. I took a sponge bath the day after my surgery and a shower before I was discharged (I was there 2 nights). My husband came early for my discharge and helped me with my shower, which I liked better than asking an aide to help. (You are a bit sore and unsteady at first and taking a shower in a strange place, so it's nice to have someone close by, even if just for reassurance.)

Considering banding in Tijuana
tombourn replied to JJgirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Anyone that says going to Tiajuana for surgery is unwise.. is unwise themselves!!! It's a twenty minute procedure that in the States cost self-payers $15,000 to $20,000... $1000 a min is BS..... Dr Ortiz has done ten times more lap bands than any doctor in the states. My dad is a Veterinarian, when I was young I watched him do spays and he was just out of vet school.. it took him forever... now he does three in the same time and better.. Good luck.. my two cents Tom -
Good Morning everyone...I need to ask some questions bc I am having trouble with the approval process....can everyone that has kaiser southern ca answer this please? 1. When did options class end and location? 2. Were u able to do your labs before the option class ended? 3. Were you able to chose the location you wanted you surgery done at? I am trying to see just how different the locations are from ours...mine was done at Corona and ended Sept 28th we had to wait til classes were over and to meet with a specialist then we were sent to do our labs...I am not able to pick were I go...kaiser said I would either go to Pacific bariatric or Crown. Hopefully I can get a surgery date in the coming week. I will finish my cpap compliance on friday. They literally told me to use it for a week to generate a report at the last minute. I have Dr. Moran. It prob took you a longer time to get an appt bc your doc is the most popular lol
