    ?ctober ?dyssey 2008

I have been dizzy too. I'm not sure why. I've gotten between 85-90 grams of protein in everyday since Thursday. It's odd though, when I go more than about 3-4 hours between protein, I get nauseous and weak feeling. My blood sugars are still not coming down yet, that's frustrating! I guess I expected to be feeling much better than I am by now; I still have very little energy! Ugh! Oh and TMI, I know, but I have this horrid smell coming from me! I'm wondering if I'm in ketosis, but I can't seem to bathe enough or brush my teeth enough and it doesn't want to go away... yuck! Sorry, but I can't handle odors well, specially when they're coming from me and I know I'm a clean person!

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Wahoo can't quite get over this but another 2 lbs down and 0.5 inch so sitting at 95 lb loss and 76 inches. Wow that's a real feel good factor. So 11.5 lbs to go and then a huge celebration! In a size 12 trouser and hopefully will settle at a 10/12 - would be really happy with this. Those that have had their band for a while did you maintain your weight or did it fluctuate a little here and there. Did you manage this with nutritional shakes or fills? Obviously when I reach target I don't want to really lose anymore but does it just stop? Having the oddest week in terms of food; usually my staple is soup (as it has been since October last year - I know boring but that was all that I could consume) but this week it just hasn't wanted to stay almost as if it's too thick and causes sliming etc (sorry for the TMI). I have been able to manage crackerbreads with soft cheese smeared over the top and more liquids than before which is a bonus. Anyway off to teach baby massage and spend some quality time with my mummies and their little bundles of fun. Have a good day and stay positive and focused. Cx

I'm having a very hungry week. And I'm craving protein. Again with the craving protein. So I listened to my body and ate--exceeding 100g of protein which is so unusual for me. I'm wondering if it's my holiday SF Torani syrup and PP I'm having in my coffee. Normally during the week, I will mostly have black coffee sprinkled with cinnamon. But I've been having 2-4 oz of PP with SF Torani Pumpkin Spice and also Peppermint Syrup. I am still down at my low end of the window. This morning 131lbs even and suspect when I'm PP, I will be down at 130-ish. LOL. TMI sorry.

Gone for Good Club - June 2006

HI! May I join this group??? Some of you know me by now. I was banded in 2003, lost 80 lbs in 7-8 months, had a major upheaval in my life for 2.5 years and I turned to food for comfort, regained 55 lbs, then got my head on straight and lost about 60 pounds since March. So, I am down a total of 84 pounds as of today. I want to lose about 78 more, though I will probably go about 65 pounds more, then see a plastic surgeon for a body lift and boob reduction. That should take care of a few more pounds, at least! TMI?? My next mini-goal is to lose 16 pounds so I can say that I have lost 100 pounds! Hopefully, I can do that in the next 4-6 weeks!

    Shrinking Violets Part 4

Good morning again  I woke early this morning (2AM) with belly cramps and poopin' like you would not believe (tmi i know). I think it is the meds that the dr has me on for my blisters that is jacking up my stomach. Jenn-you ok? Judy-i agree with you about that inner fat voice...i call her my inner fat girl. I think addiction to food is as bad as any other addiction. One day at a time, ya know? Michelle-long ago you told us about your friend whos husband up & left her. Is that who you are seeing today? How is your friend? Pamela-have fun @ lunch with your friend today :sneaky: Kat-have a fantastic time at the Grand Canyon. Ooops...gotta run....

    March 2007 Bandsters

Actually, i don't have too much in the way of gas pain either. But, my port sight was hurting and i just put it on top of my t-shirt..ah lovely. Ok- good news -poop accomplished. TMI , I know. Can i just say that tonite i was hungry and my family had some of my favorites. Steak, pasta with sauce ,salad and here's the killer..garlic bread. I am on soft/mushie so i made myself soft baked ricotta and tomato sauce. Had my cup serving and you know, it was delish. I needed to get some protein..I was hungry. I also made homemade applesauce for tomorrow. It looks yummy. I will blend some cottage cheese in. I am staying with soft for a bit. I have to admit i am alittle intimidated by food right now. I get kinda freaked that I will get sick. I know it's a learning curve..i have to be patient and learn this one step at a time. Synicalchick- how are you feeling? mary- shame on him- is he perhaps dealing with the surgery in his own way? does he have a weight problem? Sometimes i think partners have a hard time b/c they are losing their eating partner? I have no idea if that's you guys, but i know my husband had alittle of that. My husband will do anything in the world for me.........if I ask, it usually doesn't just occur to him.He makes me nuts sometimes but he is definitely my other half. What can you do??
  9. I'm finally home, and just trying to lose the weight I "found" in MI. It wAs a heck of a trip. I am still tired. My grandparents are both 92, and not in the best of health. My grandma has end stage kidney failure. I could see her declining in the 3 weeks I was there. It was quite scary to see. I don't expect her to live until our next trip back (in March) this makes me really sad, but it must be faced. My grandpa is in really bad mental state. He has Altzheimers, but he is not completely gone. In his more lucid times (though fewer and farther between every day) he knows something is wrong with him. He prays and talks to God all day (he was never particularly religious before) It must just be terrible to know you are not right. I keep telling my grandmother he has the mental capacity of a 3 year old, but she won't believe me. She gets so upset and mad when he makes messes, or doesn't do what she tells him to do. I just hope it is over for them soon. I hope that doesn't make me sound like a terrible person, but there is very little quality of life there.... my grandpa with his mental state and my grandma feeling like she is being punished for earlier misdeads by having to take care of him. I won't get too graphic here.... but let's just say it involves a lot of dirty butt wiping. (sorry if still too TMI) On a happier note..... Happy Belated Birthday to Theresa and Gen. Hope they were great. Theresa, hope you had a fun time at the casino..... sorry I was in MI and not able to make it. Did ya win?????........ Looks like we have lots of good losses going on here. Too bad I have managed to find what everyone else lost. My husband got me a Wii fit while we were away. Already managed to hurt myself with it. BEFORE IT WAS EVEN OUT OF THE BOX!!!!! I dropped the box on my foot. Man, was it heavy. Hopefully nothing is broken!!!!! Hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for the Holidays. I really need to get out and get my shopping done or there is going to be one very unhappy little girl her Christmas morning. I did manage to get her 2 Zhou Zouh hamsters, but nothing to go with them. Hopefully I will be able to find some accessories by Christmas. Hope to see everyone soon.
  10. You know, everyone is going to be horrified with these multiple "TMI" posts when they read them in the morning!!:crying:
  11. If I don't get something done with the girls I'll be able to tuck them into my underwear soon. I swear. Brandy, your description of your tummy cracked me up. Mine looks like a big white slab of fish or something. It's just gross. TMI- I have to use the hairdryer and dry the underneath side or I get a disgusting rash. Hopefully that will help convince my insurance to pay to have it removed though.
  12. This might be TMI but if I had known that just 60 pounds would make that big of a difference between good sex and hot damn great sex then I would have this sooner....Lol. I'm just saying...dont judge me. Lol

  13. Dammit:( I only lost 0.3 lbs since yesterday when a few days ago it was anywhere from 5-1.5 lbs day to day. I think I'm not getting in enough protein, that's why. THAT or it's my TIME OF THE MONTH. tmi I know. Sorry!

  14.

#wls #tmi you shut the lid on the toilet. We're you afraid it would get out???

  15.

#tmi #wls #wlsboobs my bra feels saggy and uncomfortable it's not properly hoisting. Does this mean I need a new one? Lol

  16. Tmi alert: do you ever get sores in the outer folds part of your ear? Wtf are they? Just pimples or something diff?

  17. I feel like a sponge soaked with water this weekend. Noticed it yesterday already, also today. TMI I guess but this feeling of having peed and then this strange feeling in the bladder that lasts for a while - like you still have to pee.

I went to the dr. yesterday.... he put me on Bactrum. Starting to feel better

  18. One month today I went in for sleeve surgery. One month....really?  It feels like aaaages ago.  What are the key notes in the past month:

    • being scared on the day was very real.  My surgeon and anesthetist were fabulous talking me through everything and listening to my concerns.
    • It was over before I knew it
    • Recovery from the GA was awful...the only time I have ever experienced anything like it.  12 hours later I finally came out of it properly
    • Gas pain is awful, but easily remedied by walking
    • Walking isn't as scary and painful as I thought, and I didn't get light headed at all
    • My water bottle has become my best friend.  I bought some new ones, one in particular with Llamas all over it 🙂
    • My husband won't let me get a pair of Llamas....dammit
    • Following my dietician and surgeons guidelines WORKS!  It really does
    • Scars on my belly are minimal due to using specific scar gel, helps healing and reduces scarring
    • If I have eaten too quickly, the best way to manage the discomfort is to stand up, or sit upright, and wait.....wait wait wait.  20 minutes later the discomfort has gone
    • Don't be scared to move to the next phase, just tiny tiny bites and don't drink with your meal
    • I have learned to really listen to my body.  Eat for satisfaction, not to be full.  The best advice I have been given
    • Don't forget multivitamins, it really does have an impact on fatigue
    • Try not to weigh daily, thought it's tempting
    • Scales are not always an indication of body change - TAKE PHOTOS!
    • My skin is quite dry, and it's loving the attention I am giving it.  Lots of moisturiser and my tan is the best it's ever been.  Not sure what the correlation is, but I haven't burned at all, just nicely browned
    • I had an initial breakout of rosacea on my face, but that is likely to be from the shock of surgery and much less food than usual.  It cleared up after a week or two and now my skin on my face is just lovely!
    • NEVER EVER trust a fart.  Not in the early days.
    • Constipation is real, coloxyl is the solution for me.
    • You don't poop anywhere near the volume you consume, I guess most of it is liquid and mushy anyway so no solids formed.   TMI I know, does anyone else miss a decent poop?  🙂

One month and I can say I feel 100% IF I STAY WITHIN MY LIMITS.  Last night we had Chinese takeaways/takeout for the first time, I had a small wonton soup (I know our local Chinese cook, they are very very healthy with their cooking methods).  I sipped away at the liquid and had a wonton.  It was so delicious that I had a second one...bad move.  Felt bloated, a little uncomfortable and had to stand up for a while.  If I had just had the one, all good.

I hope this sort of information helps others.  The nearly 13kgs I have lost has had an enormous impact on my life.  I don't huff and puff putting on my undies, clothes I haven't worn for years now fit me - just.  I can cross my legs comfortably, my back pain has gone completely...and I mean 100% goneski!!  I can cross my arms and they sit under my boobs, not on top of my bloated liver and stomach.  I bought my first bikini online.  It arrived, looks great (to me and hubby) and I feel comfortable in it at home.  I have another 17kgs to go, but I'm ok with taking it slowly.

    🙂

Us shovelers....I love it 🙂 You've made my Friday!

I'm so happy I haven't been a chucker. I hate the thought of vomiting and it was a bit of a concern of mine regarding the surgery.

I am a three meal a day girl, don't really like snacking. Been told I have to because I'm not eating anywhere near enough....it's either a feast or a famine right...ha get it! That's PUNNY.....

I think I have had one too many coffees....

  19. Yesterday was my post op check up with the surgeon and it went well.  He is happy with my progress and I don't need to see him for 6 months.  I'm at day 17 post op and the only real issue I have had is severe constipation.  Warning, TMI coming up.....

So I have been number twos three times since surgery.  Twice it was tiny, third time was just an absolute crisis.  Crying, sweating, it was right there....just so horribly hard and dry.  I had to get pessaries and take Coloxyl.  Holy crap (pardon the pun) when she finally made it through, she was a stubby whopper.  I drink 2 litres a day, I have stopped taking the protein powder and don't take huge amounts of multi vitamins.  I am on puree now so having weetbix (an Australian/NZ breakfast biscuit) and veges for lunch and dinner.  I am going to look for some tea that helps with the issue, I simply can't go through that again.  It was two days ago and I still feel bruised.   I am not exercising much so will need to increase that too, I just don't want to be taking laxatives as a habit.

Aside from that my only bug bear is the draw to the scales every day.  I'm going to get my hubby to remove them and hide them from me and only weigh once a week to ensure I'm staying on track.  I'm still seeing losses all the time, but I'm becoming so focused on that I forget that the scales are only one part of the journey, my wellbeing is the other.

My son and his fiance are coming up from Melbourne this weekend and arrive tomorrow.  I haven't seen them both since Covid and I've missed them terribly.  I have some fun things organised, but I just can't wait to hug my first born and tell him how much I love him.

    Happy Friday-eve from down under.

I had a very similar experience. Twice. It was awful and a bit traumatizing, frankly. I thought I was going to have to take Miralax everyday for the rest of my life, but I can happily say that being 5.5 months out, things are fairly regular and I haven't had to take Miralax in over a month. I always make sure to get plenty of water, which has helped. Exercise will definitely help you in that department, too. Even just getting a walk in everyday will be good for your bowels. :)

Wish you the best on your journey!

  20. Hey Diva. I feeling good, thanks for asking. My incisions are looking good and I can drink all of my fluids and and get my protein in. Really the only problem I see is and maybe this is TMI, but my bowels movement are not what they are suppose to be. I've been on mushies since my second week and I'm almost 5 weeks now. I am just not regular, so I might have to call my surgeon for advice.

    How are you doing?

    Deb

  21. YAY so I got banded yesterday 9/10 - so far I've had a cup of ice water at the hospital and 46g protein in the form of Nectar (from Vitamin Shoppe) mixed with 16oz water. I bought the Fuzzy Navel flavor and its really not too bad (a nice change from two weeks on vanilla, strawberry and chocolate Slimfast!) I like that each scoop of Nectar is a whopping 23g of protein and only 90 calories!

So far minimal pain and discomfort (probably a 3 on a scale of 1-10). I took some pain meds before bed last night to ensure I got a good nights sleep but honestly didnt need it. Ive had minimal gas pains in my shoulders and neck - thats possibly cos all i did after getting home from the hospital is walk around and burp lol TMI.

So far so good and having the band doesn't really 'feel' much different (yet).

I weighed 288.6lb before starting the 2 week pre-op diet and yesterday weighed in at 275lb before surgery - a nice jumpstart!

  22. day 3 after surgery....i know this is probably TMI but i have diarreah. Called Dr Gee and he told me its natural bc of the antibiotics to take some emodium and said to move onto the next stage of eating. So I started with the protein shakes today and plain yogurt.... Feel sick and feverish though....if i feel worse i will be seen tomorrow at the SD clinic....I'm supposed to start back at work tomorrow, but will be taking an extra day to recover....

  23. Hello!

I hope you are better! I am doing fine. I had a bad bout with constipation but now I am taking metamucil, so things are working well again. Down 33lbs! I am going to post pictures tomorrow. I am a little bloated because of my period, I know, TMI!! LOL

  24. I, too, am back at work today. I'm feeling good. I am doing my best to not let anyone know I had any surgery so I'm pretending to not be in any pain and if I have to release gas I just go to the restroom. Is that TMI? Haha. Hope all goes well now that you're back at work.

  25. I am not but My fiancee is, he plays guitar. Yeah I heard about that, the slow down, I don't own a scale (yet) but I have a doctors appt in about an hour so I know she'll weigh me. Probably TMI but I think during my surgury because of the pressure on the abdomin my IUD shifted, so I have to see the gyno (Probably MORE TMI but the hunny said he can feel it, and I got my period 2 days after surgery for the 2nd time this month) so it's basically an emergency appt. Yeah My friend is an art teacher and tells everyone she has the coolest job in the world. I am a music junky. have been involved since I was 14 (R.I.P CBGB'S)
