My surgey was yesterday. Went well! Hiatal (sp) hernia repaired too. Clear liquids today. No more IV fluids as my intake is good and output good too.small pain, easily managed. Walking worked to get rid of gas pain, and I can feel air rolling around in my tummy! No doubt I will be passing gas soon, sorry if tmi. Nurses are very helpful and encouraging. Hooray, hoping to go home tomorrow or Friday.

I got a call from the dietician yesterday telling me that my test results for albumin and Iron were still low. I told her she was mistaken about the albumin because I was holding test results in my hand that I took August 27th that read 3.9 g/dl (range is 3.5-5.0 g/dl). I was upset about the iron because I have been taking 65mg of iron twice a day religiously for the last seven weeks. The constipation has been killing me and I have (TMI) an anal fissure that I've been trying to heal this whole time. I really want to cry cuz nothing seems to be going right. I also found out that the PCIP insurance that I have will expire Dec. 31st 2013 and I'll have to pick another plan. The new plan may not have weight loss surgery as a ryder and then all of this work will have been done for nothing. So I feel like I'm in between a rock and a hard place. I'm bumping my iron up to 65mg 3 times a day in hopes of getting these labs straight by next month (Oct. 8th will be the last of my PCP visits and everything will be ready to be submitted). I just needed to talk about it.

I made it thru surgery! Not as bad as I thought. My mouth was dryer than dry, but they gave me ice chips. My surgery started at 7:30am They did the sleeve & hernia, was in recovery by 9:25, in there for about an hour, the to my room at about 10:30. I was on oxygen, they took it off at 11:30, just had to remember to breath deep when the buzzer sounds, they also gave me a breathing thingy that I have to do minimum of 10 an hour, it gets deep breaths, it helps A Lot with Gas bubbles & helps so yo don't get Phenomena I've been burping a storm. Walking around my room & the halls. No nausea at all They are stayed on top of the meds while I was in the hospital, the second morning I didn't have any. I just had gas pains. Also, I was able to get out of the bed & I'm sitting in a what they call recliner... But it's better than the bed. I was able to be out of the hospital by noon the day after surgery, I hated being there, being on the IV & eating ice chips, I was able to walk to my GI & passed, so they said I was cleared t go home. We ran to get my Rx & home we came where I started drinking an Iso Pure, not the greatest, but its protein, i wasn't to bad after I mixed some powder protein with it. took for ever to drink 8 oz. but I did that twice yesterday & so I hit my minimum mark of 50 grams of protein. I figured that was a great start. the only time I took the pain meds is when I went to bed. I don't like them they knock me right out. Since this morning I have choked down a iso pure without added powder & 1/2 a 16.9 oz bottle of water guess that's not bad where its basically 10am. I am not hungry, I just keep telling myself drink this, drink this. slowly. but drink this. then I give myself a break. I weighed myself & I am down 2lbs the only reason I got on the scale is I do my measurements once a week those were not so good, but I attribute that to being swollen, my plans for the day are SHOWER! then this afternoon a walk, & maybe 1 tonight. and of course every-time I remember I use the breathing thingy. I haven't really had troubles passing gas, from either direction. I know TMI, I also had a BM. the nurses had me a bit scared about that. I had it on my own no medicines or juices. I had it in my head it was going to be worse than it was. I guess it's better to thin that then have it be better. now if I could just Fast Forward the next couple months. Hope everyone is doing well.

Problems with bowel movements post-surgery?
DonRodolfo replied to akusah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to have a lot of issues pre surgery that seems to have been replaced by new (more tolerable) problems. I have somewhat frequent upper esophagus gas that causes a little discomfort. This is mostly in the morning. Burping helps a lot and my doctor says this should go away soon. (TMI ALERT) BMs are not the volume they used to be. Since I'm eating less I guess this can be expected. I get nicely formed logs (I'm told this is a good thing). However, I have to make sure to get enough Fiber (Metamucil twice a day) or it feels like I'm pushing out a tree - very difficult to get started and to keep pushing out. I imagine most of you know what happens if you push too hard so I'll spare you that. I wake up with A LOT of gas. I believe this is mostly because I'm still using a CPAP machine. Good thing is that I'm far enough out that I can trust farts. -

I was banded on the third.... So just a few days ahead if you all. HANG ON. YOUR ALMOST AROUND THE CORNER. I have noticed I feel better yesterday n today than I have for a week. ( and I pooped today which really helped, TMI, I know) I have also had the issue of really feeling bloated and ugh after drinking more than a sip. See doc tomorrow and will let you know what he says. -
Hi ButterFly. Get out of the house...take a walk, go exercise, swim...whatever. If you focus on positive behaviours, you can avoid the self sabotage. That's what I did yesterday. I made the mistake of getting on the scale mid week and right after a bowel movement...sorry about the TMI. But suffice to say, I dropped a pound and a half in that half a week. Of course yesterday when I weighed in at my regular one week interval, I put back a pound. I knew it was likely Water weight or even just a regular fluctuation but that's when I decided to go for a swim even though I usually swim on Sunday mornings and not on Saturdays. I felt so good after that swim that it was easy to forget about the number on the scale and just focus on the long term goal. Not sure where you live, but here in New York, it's a beautiful day. Go out and enjoy it even if your weather is not so good,

Dumping? (TMI sorry) I gotta know
Pam Peltz posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had an episode at work... My bowels just emptied very liquidy with very little warning. I had to come home to shower and change. Is this dumping? Other than slightly queasy no other symptoms. I ate a cookie about 2 hours before. One of those Samoans. And then I had a sucker; small round grape one. Please help!! Gotta know what to do. -

Lol. On this diet I could appreciate a little laxative tmi -
Hi Jules, not to be too TMI, but have you had a good BM lately? My weight stayed the same for several days, I felt sluggish because I hadn't had a decent BM. My doc told me to take some milk of magnesia. It worked. Afterwards, I have much more energy and I've been losing steadily.

I have Aetna and have been great!i really feel likei have been so lucky so far. I'm still at the hospital And I don't leave until Tom by I feel great! Getting gas bloat though ad can't seem to poot.. Just burp. Sorry tmi.. I can't feel my incisions and they look beautiful as of now! I have been so nervous about liquids though.. I literally take 2 iny sips an hour and feel like I'm gonna pop. My prop diet consisted of Clear Liquids the day before surgery! That's I! -
I am so glad someone talked about the TMI issue, BM's. I'm having a serious problem with this and I'm not liking it! I've taken stool softeners and no good, then I took a half a laxative, nothing, then I took a full dose of laxative, and I couldn't leave the house, LOL. Anyway, if anyone out there has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

I know this is TMI but- I'm still pre op but have have the Brazilian done a couple times and yes it's embarrassing to have to told your tummy rolls, but just cause I'm fat doesn't mean I don't want it to be nice and clean for my man I have to much trouble trying to shave by myself lol ill take the 15-30 min of embarrassment

So I have always had a problem with bowel movements. I get constipated really really easily. I haven't had a bowl movement since before my surgery. (I am 5 days post op) Is it okay to take some stool softeners/laxatives? If so, how many should I take? Before surgery I would have to take up to 7 capsules to even budge a little bit. I'm really scared to take too many.

Over the past 2-3 days i've been experiencing sharp pain on my right side. It's located near an incision, but theres no pain to the touch or redness. The pain can come at anytime, i can be sitting up, or leaning back, or getting out of a chair, or walking. (TMI ALERT) I haven't been doing my regular walking actually, also a little constipated. I can go to the bathroom, it just seems like it's not a "normal" amount. Then again i'm on puree for a few more days. Could this be gas pain? It's not like the muscle pain i get when sitting up, just using my stomach muscles. It's kinda worrying me since i woke up and it took me a bit to sit up before i said "screw this" and pushed through the pain.

19 days post op...weird question!
WildGrits replied to heygirl_143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could it be Ketosis? Sometimes you get a metal like taste in your mouth. Not to be TMI but I find that when I'm in Ketosis and I use the bathroom it smells like Nail polish remover. -
Any September surgeries out there
Amanda R replied to SueC1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok this is a tmi question.. is anyone shaving their lady parts before surgery? I know they will see so don't know if I should or not lol -
Hey just wanted to update everyone. I am 6 days post op and today is the best I've felt since surgery. I have lost 7 pounds from the day I came home from the hospital (the 28th). I've been taking Gas X and pain meds as needed and no nausea meds. I haven't had any issues getting food down...liquids cause a lot if grumbling and belching but nothing I can't deal with. I ate mashed potatoes for the first time yesterday and I had my first real BM (meaning no medicine to help and it wasn't liquidy sorry if TMI!). Still hoping my weight loss kicks in to hard drive...but until then steady she goes! Hope everyone is doing well!

I was sleeved on 8/21. After 8 days of no BMs, I called my doc about it and he told me to take some milk or magnesia. He said it would push the waste right out of me. I brought some expecting for it to work over night. It worked in less that 30 mins and I dropped 3 lbs to boot (TMI).
-
Has anyone ever heard of someone getting a hernia after having the sleeve. I think that a week after surgery I may have gotten a hernia after using the bathroom.... sorry if TMI.
