    Labor Day Challenge 2012

Week Four post op Challenge weight: 203.4 Last week's weight: 192.8 Today's weight: 191.0 (down 1.8 pounds) Goal weight: 180 After last Monday, went up 1.2 pounds then into a stall until yesterday. Looking forward to a bigger weight loss week. Lots of NSVs every time I wear something. I LOVE my sleeve!
  2. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to me. I plan to maintain my workouts. More so to make sure that I am consistent. I think that is one of the main reasons I am on this see-saw. I am trying to work on being consistent with logging my food on my fitness pal. And I will do better to focus on my NSV. Thanks so much.

    How are my March Bandsters!!

Can any Marcher play, or are you looking for specifically March '06? NSV stands for Non-scale Victory. They are the wonderful things that add depth and shading to our journey.

    How are my March Bandsters!!

O.K.....what's a NSV? I had another little fill of 0.6cc this week and finally feel restriction again. I stalled out for almost 6 weeks (I did lose 2 pounds but jeeze!). I'm allergic to sweating (a.k.a. excercise) unless it involves loud music and a dance floor. I do like to garden and nap. Does that count? People have noticed the weight loss and since I am living a lie and only telling close family members (and all of you here on this group), I just tell them I'm on a low-carb diet and that I'm working very hard. Thank you for noticing! As for issues, I sometimes miss goey buttered rolls. And PB & J sandwiches, toasted. Salads have been iffy. THe lettuce blocks the opening I guess. THe last few times I've eaten a salad, I've pucked it up. Yuck! I was mad too because it wasn't a cheap salad! I figured out how to eat at my favorite buffet restaurants; get the to-go box usually sold by the pound. Fill it up, or not, and then sit down and eat with the family. Take the rest home for tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day......

    How are my March Bandsters!!

Total loss 53 lbs. 13 lbs before looking into band, 17 pre-op liquid diet, the rest since being banded 3/14/06. I've had 2 fills, 1/2 cc each in a 4 cc band, total 1 cc. The only people that don't say much about my loss are the ones that thought paying $17,000 for WlS out of my own pocket was ridiculous. I figure they haven't said anything because they are being proven wrong. My best friend keeps telling me to go shopping because someone moved out of the back of my pants. I've had several pb's..yuck. I think maybe I have trouble telling when I'm full. I'm still in a learning phase. Sometimes I do great...some days I eat VERY little. I'll get it right. Bottom line is...I FEEL WONDERFUL!!! I know my doc doesn't think this is an NSV but...HE SAID I WAS LOSING A LITTLE TOO FAST...now how many times have any of us had a doc say THAT..lol

    How are my March Bandsters!!

Raven NSV - Non scale Victory.. Girl, if you need loud music and a dance floor, then you go out and find one.. there is NOTHING (well maybe dh) that I love more then loud 80's music and a dance floor. Alison - 69 Pounds wow thats great, I know you must be looking a feeling better.. Ive found that people are afraid to say anything because they dont want you to know that thay noticed how fat we were before, it takes time.. hang in there!

    Memory

Great message Terry. One way to build those markers is by rewarding yourself so that you associate the reward (non-food) with your NSV. For example, when I could ride a certain distance I rewarded myself with a new road bike. That was pretty big reward but was all the more special because my husband initiated it. Another reward I gave myself was a new gold watch when I hit a scale goal. Since then I've had another link removed and it is loose again. Keep up your great work!

    Feb Bandsters July Challenge

Still running around like a mad woman, but it's paying off... I've lost more than I'd thought since my fill! Down by 57.5 total -- 5.5 since the fill 2 weeks ago on July 5th! Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!! NSV for my affirmation: I wear a 26 now, for the most part, which is down from a tight 32 pre-Band. I tried on a pair of my mom's shorts that are a size 20 (from Silhouettes) -- just to beat myself up, really. AND THEY BUTTONED!!! I'd have needed that particular pair in a 22 to really wear, but they totally closed up!!!! Holy crap!!! I know I'm by no means a 22 in most stuff, BUT BUT BUT Mom's size 20 shorts actually zipped & buttoned, too!!! I wore a size 22 over 8 years ago!!! Suzanne Feb'07 July Challenge: Level 3-Moderate 12 of 20 days exercising for 30 minutes

sorry to hear about the obstacles Mitzie. You have been a great surgery buddy. It won't be long until we are posting in the NSV thread!

    Potting Soil & Cat Litter!

Isn't that great? It is the NSVs that mean the most.
  11. These are great - My surgery is now 17 months past, and I've plateaued the past 5 months, sadly. I did maintain though, and now am beginning to lose again (yes!) so my fall NSV is having the pleasure of donating sweaters that are too big, even though I thought they would still fit. Guess I'm smaller than I thought - hooray My other NSV is the pleasure of being back on track - such a good feeling!
  12. I am pre-op, so my biggest NSV goal right now is to stay on plan for my pre-op diet. I don't have my surgery date yet so the end isn't exactly in sight! I am on day 4 and last night I *almost* ate a slice of my sister's stuffed crust pizza, it smelled sooo good! Instead I left the table with my chicken and broccoli so I didn't have to be around such negativity ???? Seeing all of your posts about wearing fall boots is so inspirational! I hope to be doing the same next fall ????????????

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

I have a great NSV. My daughters class was going on a trip and I was a chaperone. We ordered shirt for the group and I ordered myself a large. Which is a huge victory in itself. The day the shirts came she brought mine home and told me that mine was one of the only large shirts and everyone else was either an XL or 2XL. I couldn't be happier. I wore it for the trip yesterday and it was even a bit big. Loving my sleeve. Down 95 lbs since 1/16. 35 more to goal.

    Crystal's complete list of NSVs

Oh Maggie! I'm so very sorry you feel that way! But just so you know, belly dancing is NOT for men, it is a dance by women for women. It isn't a sexual thing, but a cultural thing. And some dancers wear full flowing dresses that would hide as much of you as does a sweater! For some women, I'm sure they like to primarily dance for men, but the vast majorty of dancers never dance anywhere but in their class! It's all about comfort levels. I'm a middle child, doing everything I can to get some attention.... Thanks for your kind words Emily. It's hard when all you have are NSVs, but those are what keep me going on my journey.

    Crystal's complete list of NSVs

I thought I would bump this, since I've been doing a crummy job lately of banging the NSV Drum.... My current NSV? I'm going to write a novel next month as part of NaNoWriMo.

    Crystal's complete list of NSVs

I read your NSVs and I'm going to start keeping a list. As of now I have these: 1. I can wear a size 18 instead of a size 22. 2. I can cross my legs. 3. I can move around a lot more easily and when I walk, I walk fast. 4. I can fit into those dinky desks at the Big U. 5. People have noticed my weight loss. 6. I am going to buy new clothes because my old ones are too big. 7. I am not huffing and puffing as much as I did. 8. My ankles don't make strange noises when I walk downstairs. I haven't tried running upstairs and I may not. I'm getting old and I feel that when one is over 50 one should get to use the elevator. But in the elevator, there are a lot of fat young people who are huffing and puffing and are fatter than I am! Amazing! 9. I have no problem waiting on Mother. I wait on Mother like a servant and it's easier now. 10. I have lost about 35 pounds overall, and that's okay if I keep feeling well. We have lots of people around here who look much worse than me, poor devils. 11. I have hope that eventually I will lose all 70 pounds. I will not give up hope.

    Crystal's complete list of NSVs

Okay, time to bump the thread. Last night while Iwas talking on the phone to an old friend from high school I again casually just crossed my legs. Without thinking about it. I know I've done this before, but it's a mind thing I think. Other NSVs include belly dance stuff. My DH won a few auctions on ebay for me, a couple of B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L belts, a gorgous silk veil and a pair of harem pants. The pants looked impossibly small, even with an elastic waist. I just knew that they were NOT going to fit, but being the glutton for punishment that I am, I attempted to put them on anyway. They fit! They are too shere to wear without a skirt, so that will have to be next on my list of things to get. The other victories around dancing are some of the skinny ones are asking me for help, since they cannot get some of the moves quite right. I'm also getting really excited about dancing at the restaurant. I'll do that once I get home after Thanksgiving, and I complete my costume. I still need a top and a skirt I mean, I just bearly broke out of MO, and I'm going to be a fat professional dancer. What am I thinking? I mean, what am i thinking, other than I'm dead sexy and a fine belly dancer.

    Crystal's complete list of NSVs

Crystal, I love the fact that you pointed out so many things that are NSV's that I never realized until you said them. Thanks for making my day a bit brighter by making me take a look at all the good things that have happened because of my band thus far.

    Crystal's complete list of NSVs

Crystal, I just checked out your weight-loss chart. Would anyone want to invest in a company whose stock price showed the same decline? No way. You are on a gradual downward trend. Numbers aside, your health and body have improved so much that you must be counted as a Lap Band success story. Keep those NSVs coming!
  21. Thanks all! Looking at side by sides is surreal. I still have a ways to go and I gained three back over a girls' weekend (complete with the start of my girly cycle - of course), but I'm tickled. That dress is a HUGE NSV, too. I bought it Thursday, off the rack, without trying it or anything else on for a night out! First stress free GNO purchase in a decade and best of all....NO SPANX underneath! Can I hear a WHAT! WHAT! ?

    Any locals?

NSV alert ---> I fit into an XL!!!! I knew I needed a new coat this year, and I want something WARM. So I was eyeing an LL Bean down coat. They are much more expensive in Women's sizes, so I was hoping that maybe, just maybe, I could squeeze into an XL. I was reluctant to spend $100 to try it though, so I got this one off of Ebay before making the investment.... L.L Bean Crimson Insulated Quilted Barn Jacket coat XL - eBay (item 300257064951 end time Sep-15-08 10:11:15 PDT) And, it fits!!! A little tight in the belly, but not too bad. By cold weather it should do just fine. I'm so excited. I haven't been in Misses sizes since college when I lost a lot of weight for a few months. Woohoo! I know I'm nowhere near XL in regular clothing. But I'm still excited. It's not an ugly, freezing cold Woman Within coat!

    What is your NSV?

I have 5 NSV's to share today! My pants are falling off, and shoes are loose! I feel more energetic - no naps Walked around the Canadian National Exhibition for hours yesterday People are very encouraging; you look great, your skin is great, what have you done Taking public transit now and walked home from subway; no bus for me! I have been a little sore, like I pulled something for the 2nd time. These 5 things make up for that! First fill next Monday! So what is making you happy outside of what your scale says? (I am weighing myself next week) Kim
