    Feb 23 Sleevers!

@@Angie74 I started off on the lower end as well. My highest was 224lbs. Surgery weight was 203lbs. Current weight is 188lbs. I think your right on track. I'm in the famous 3 week stall. I'm now onto mushy foods.

    Feb 23 Sleevers!

Welcome Falecha! Glad you posted. You are actually doing quite well (weight wise). Many of us have lost less than that since surgery. I'm only 22 lbs down (but, I'm trying not to complain...because I never lost 22 lbs in a month in the past). Hopefully your Drs. appointment will put your mind at ease. I always write my questions down, so I don't get nervous ad forget....just a suggestion. I think we have to just keep trying to get Protein and Water goals in, and it will come off. At least, that seems to be the norm. Also, as they said on the other thread...the 3 weeks stall is VERY common. So, we shouldn't worry.
  3. I have to say something on here about the (cheaters). You are only cheating yourselves. First off while you are on liquids it is the time you will lose the most pounds right after the surgery. Please take advantage of this time. Second when you start eating mushies it most likely will be bad carbs that you will be consuming( mashed potatos, cream soups and so on) abd that is going to stop the ketosis state that you were in and thats when the 3 week stall happens. Im not a dr or nurse or anything. I just put 2 and 2 together and it makes alot of sence.
  4. It is normal to stall, in fact I think they call it the 3 week stall although it happens to some people earlier and later than 3 weeks. It is your body realizing that you are making big changes and it is not quite sure if it should let go of fat stores in your body. The most important thing you can do is stay the course on the plan. Drink 64 oz. of Water per day, get your Protein in, take your Vitamins and keep on exercising. It will all of a sudden let go and you will start losing again. I know it is frustrating, I had a stall that lasted 4 weeks and a couple more that lasted a week. All of a sudden weight will drop off. Keep in mind it never comes off as quickly as that first month. Expect a couple of pounds a week if you are following the plan. Some people lose faster than that and it all depends on where you are. Heavier people usually lose more faster in the beginning. Everyone is different and you should not compare yourself to others. Also, if that scale is making you crazy, stay off of it. I actually weigh daily but I do not let the scale make me nuts. I use my clothing to gauge my weight loss. If my clothing is fitting loser, then I know I am losing inches. Good luck and stay positive!
  5. I had my vsg June 23rd. 349 starting weight, 319 at surgery, currently 299. Boy it's great not looking at that 3 at the front of the scale... never again! I have been stuck at 299 for about 6 days but I understand the "3 week stall" is quite common... Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
  6. Yes, the 3 week stall seems have more posts than any other subject so I was not surprised at all. It's just good to know that it will pass and the journey will continue with or without the scale's approval. That is a beautiful thing!
  7. With so many more pounds needing to be shed this is a bit discouraging! I was sleeved on Apr 23rd and in the first week lost about 18lbs. I felt tired but also like this is exactly what I needed to do. Then, I hit a brick wall. I went back to work on Wed last week and haven't lost a pound since my Thurs weigh in. I know I probably shouldn't weigh myself every day but the changes on the scale really make the day easier as I adjust and recover. So the last 4 weigh ins have been very depressing. I have heard of the dreaded 3 week stall but why so soon for me? Anyone else already gone through this? I am just hoping this doesn't mean that I am going to be slower to loose and easier to gain even post-op.

    Any Washington State Sleevers?

Yeah! I love Dr. Landerholm!!! Woohoo. I'm in Lake Stevens. 3 weeks post op as of today. I'm down 15 pounds and have hit my "3 week stall," but I know it will pass. You are going to love everyone there. Jillian is a sweetheart, and Bridget is really nice too. Dr. L really cares...he never talked down to me and treated me like he would treat his family members. They have such respect for their patients. I went to a few different clinics and doctors and never felt the same respect as I do at PSSC. Good luck and keep me posted. Maybe we can all go out for tea or something. I drink iced tea and hot tea like it's going out of style now lol...before it was coffee

    Anyone for October 2020?

I did my 3 week stall at week 2, stalled until week 4, lost for 3 days and have been in another stall ever since 😭😭😭. I know it will come off, but stalls are the worst. NSV - I ran on the treadmill for the first time in 6 years this weekend! And I am down two pants sizes.

    Anyone with PCOS?

I was sleeved 4/16 and have had two periods since. The first one was brutal because I hadn't had one in 2 years. Dr put me on birth control and the second one wasn't so bad and not heavy like the other. Thank God! Pcos sucks. Weight gain, excess body hair, thinning hair and possible infertility sucks. And no one knows anything about it unless they have it. No one else understands either. My weight loss has been pretty good. Had about a 3 week stall but seems fine now. Surgery weight was 284 and now I'm 210. Hopefully these pcos symptoms go away. Hubby and I want a baby. That was the main reason for surgery. I'm 30 will be 31 in August. My clock is ticking really fast!! The 18 month wait is gonna be the hardest!

    Kinda disappointed:(

I've only lost 5 lbs in the last two weeks and I'm also 4 weeks out. Same thing with my husband. I think we're just all in our 3 week stall. It would have been nicer for you if the PA would have known that, but since you know that, maybe just ignore her?

    July 2013 Sleevers

Oh I had similar ones. One of the reasons our bodies hold onto the weight and we needed this surgery. My PCP said that 80% of her fenale patients she referred for WLS had period issues similar to mine. And the bariatric surgeon said the surgery and weight loss would fix it. We shall see. I am doing alright. Losing slowly but surely and hoping for no 3 week stall! I am in week 3 now! Well, the beginning of it. I am out of the 400's and that will be forever!

    All of my December sleevers...

I was in a 3 week stall. I lost 4.2 pounds in last two days though. Things I did differently last few days: had a cup of coffe at breakfast after my nut said I could have two cups of caffeinated coffee per day. I noticed significant changes in "liquid output" on the very first day I had coffee. I also cut carbs from 40-50g range to 15-20g range. One of those things or both seems to have shaken me loose after being completely dead in the water for weeks. Or it was just time! My working theory is that I got a bit dehydrated in the 2-3 weeks after surgery and while I was meeting my water requirements in the next 3 weeks, my body was holding on to the water more than it normally would WHILE I was still losing fat. So the scale didn't move. Then either the diuretic effects of a cup of coffee or the diuretic effects of extremely low carbs started shaking lose that excess water I was retaining and output returned finally to pre-surgery levels. Another possibility is that I finally got enough hydration into my system that I stopped retaining much of what I was drinking. If that's the case, you might be able to avoid a stall or end a stall by forcing more water than the 64oz minimum: like 80oz to a gallon. A quick check of the scale tonight says I'm lower than this morning (which almost never happens during the day as I eat and drink) so I expect to see more loss when I weigh in tomorrow. This is all very anecdotal so take it with a a grain of salt, but its just me theorizing at an early stage about what I did, what I observed, and what may be breaking my stall. I in no way believe I suddenly lost 4 pounds of fat after losing nothing for weeks. The fat must have been gone already and last two days were mostly dumping water weight and/or glycogen. So... If you are in a stall, i would ask yourself "am I drinking a lot?" and "am I peeing a lot?" The answer to both should be yes.
  14. So, me and my partner are surviving off food stamps, as we have to right now, and we are out for the month. That doesn't allow me much in the way of what to eat. The foods I can eat I have to ration. Im 3 weeks po and in the dreaded 3 week stall. I ate ramen noodles and meat last night, because I had to get something in. Don't come at me for choices, how unhealthy, etc etc, because I know. They sat ok, no pain, kinda feels like they may still be sitting this morning? Not sure. Guess I am just looking for reassurance that I will be ok. Sent from my SM-N986U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Please stop asking me!

I'm very discouraged right now because I'm at the 3 week stall. I work with 2 girls who also had the surgery. One INSISTS she lost almost 20 lbs a week for her first 2 months ( which we all know isn't true), but my other coworkers believe her so they think I'm already doing something wrong and I'm not! Ugh...

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

I was 10 pounds down at 1 week. I did not weigh at 2 weeks, and then I had heard about the 3-week stall...so at 4 weeks, I am down 24. I weighed a few times and it wasn't moving, and then I waited a few days and it was down 6 pounds...so I try not to weigh every day or think about it every day. I have probably lost 31 pounds total...I did not lose weight on pre-op liquid, but lost about 7 or 8 pounds during the month before surgery.

August post op sleevers: Check in

I'm right with you. My surgery was on August 27. Since my pre-op diet and then the surgery, I've lost about 28 pounds, but am stuck right there. I've been reading all over the web about the "3-week stall" which maybe we both have. I'm just glad my close are loose, I dropped a size, and am feeling good. I'm sticking to my prescribed diet habits, except I don't think I'm getting enough protein, so I started putting packets of unflavored protein in my morning yogurt. Maybe more protein will help star up the weight loss again.
  20. 800 calories for 3 weeks out is perfect. If the lack of scale changes is the question.. it's called the 3 week stall for a reason Between 2 and 4 weeks out, most patients have a couple weeks that the scale doesn't move. It isn't a problem, and doesn't mean anything is wrong. It's just the body adjusting after a major operation. These stalls will happen throughout your weight loss journey, so it's just as well that it happens so soon so you can get used to it In fact, OutsideMatchesInside mentioned having a month where her scale never moved, but she lost 2 dress sizes. It is her experience that the greatest diameter losses occur during the stalls. It's interesting! Also, don't panic if you see a pound or 3 pop back up on that scale. Again, it's just part of the process, and doesn't mean you gained 3 pounds of fat.

    January 2020 Surgery Date

I am really just focusing on getting all my fluids in. I do a lot of crystal light with water. I have been struggling with the protein piece of it. The premier protein shakes make me sick to my stomach. I try to get 1 shake in and make up the rest of the protein with Greek yogurt. As far as exercise I am not doing anything more than walking my dog in our neighborhood. I wouldn’t stress about being stuck I’ve heard that the 3-week stall is very common.
  22. I am with you sleeved 11/20 3 week stall getting frustrated!!
  23. Hi guys had my surgery 02/02, start weight was 21.9. I got down to 20.9 before my op on the LRD. first week weigh in after surgery was a loss of 8 pounds and this morning week 2 I’ve lost 3.5 pounds. However I got on the scale Sunday and it showed a 3.5 pound loss then, so in 3 days the scale hasn’t moved and I’m still on liquids? what do we reckon, I’m going to be a slow loser? Or I’ve hit the dreaded 3 week stall early? thankyou.
  24. You're experiencing the much dreaded and always frustrating 3-week stall. Almost everyone stalls out at 3 weeks. I had great loss for the first 17 days and then it's been periods of loss followed by longer periods of no loss. I think this is just the way it's going to be. I always felt I could eat more Soup, I just stopped with my measured amount. You definitely feel the restriction when you eat dense Protein. Your experience sounds completely normal. No worries!
