It's the small things that really make the beginning of this journey wonderful. I'm not very far out (Sleeved 03/07/22) but the little things that keep happening and changing are reminding me that it was so worth it. I have lost about 30lbs since the start of my journey (HW:281 SW:268 CW:237) and am smaller than I have ever been in my adult life. I see the small things changing and it keeps me fighting. Yesterday, I bought size 20 jeans that are even a tad loose on me and I've always been 22-24s. I bought some workout pants a few months ago that I thought would fit but were too small and put them on today and they fit PERFECTLY. I see my face thinning and can feel my collarbone. Just remember to celebrate the little things! And when things are getting tough, remember where you started and where you are now and keep fighting! I'm rooting for you all!

Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

This is odd because I feel like a lot of people prefer more showy clothes after losing weight but my weird NSV is that I can actually do the baggy look now and not look like it was my only option or I'm a big ball hahaha. I love the Korean Hanbok clothing style (google it) and am so excited to be down more lbs to REALLY rock it! Here's my first Hanbok inspired outfit. Same! Rings are my favorite jewelry and I have a ton, but they're all size 10. I wear a 7 but now but almost a 6. I sure miss my wedding rings but I'm wearing a temporary one for now until I get them resized. It's so good to have smaller fingers! Great NSV for you! Hello! I love coming back to this thread and reading all the ways ya'll are experiencing life anew post-surgery. Life is bananas for me and all the shares here are a great reminder of the many reasons I had this surgery at a time when I am often too busy to do much of my own reflection. So...thank you to everyone that has taken time to share the wonderful and weird ways you are experiencing life post WLS. My latest NSV is an emotional/psychological win around internalized food and body shame. I have owned a food scale for years and for all those years I felt ashamed about using it, judging myself as so "out of control" that I couldn't manage healthy portions on my own. Rather than a simple tool, I viewed it as a symbol of a failed out-of-control relationship to food. I had a hard time using the food scale because I was embarrassed to keep it in sight or use it in front of anyone. Fast forward to last week...when I got so fed up with other people in my household putting my food scale deep in the cupboard that I taped a sign to it and wrote in bold sharpie "I USE THIS, PLEASE LEAVE ON THE COUNTER FOR ME". Felt zero shame or hesitancy in doing this, just happy to solve the annoying problem of one of my essential tools being hidden away from me. This feels like one of my most important NSVs. -
NSV today. Rode my bike for the first time since last summer. Had to tighten the helmet straps nearly 2 inches.

Great minds think alike :-) - I've already started a journal with my weight and measurements, my reasons for wanting to do this etc, and I've taken some photos just before I started the pre-surgery diet. I love the idea of including space for some NSVs so I will definitely add that in, thanks! With regards to isolation, I've been told to isolate for three days prior, and am going in on Monday for a covid test. Fingers and toes crossed for a negative, I'd be devastated if the surgery can't go ahead as planned..!

My First NSV. I went to the hairdressers at 50 pounds lighter and thought she had bought new chairs because I had so much room in them. Deep joy -

So last night was my first night back at work. It went well! I’m glad to be getting back into my routine. Here’s my first NSV! When I went to put my watch on it’s on a tighter loop! Woot woot! I have to say switching back to overnights has been rough on me and we are only going into day two. Yesterday was a liquid only day for me. I just couldn’t have imagined trying to do mindful eating and dealing with first day back things. It’s been wonderful reading other peoples experiences on this thread as well! I started it because for me there was such an unknown of what it was going to be like post hospital. I may not be an expert- but I’m going thru this day by day. Thank you for being with me on this journey! 💙 -

So today is the first day I woke up without a weight loss. I know this is super normal but emotionally I just feel like I’m doing something wrong. My clothes fit better- but nothing is too big for me in my closet yet. The second something is too big is going to be the best NSV ever. I’m gonna let myself have a bit of a lazy morning- getting some laundry done then I’ll go walk at the gym and just keep moving forward. One day at a time. -
I had a NSV yesterday. I had set aside 5 pair of pants for "when I get down to that size again" and I've been working hard and have lost 25 pounds since October, so I thought I'd try them on. They fit! Now they go back on hangers into the closet rotation! Yay!

Newest NSV - Carrying concealed all day without it digging into my side!! OMG Awesome!! -
Yep. Further, at 9 months post-op, I renewed my passport early (2 years before it was set to expire) because it was getting annoying/stressful having to explain that i was in fact me at airports. Im 3+ yrs post op now and a few months ago, I renewed my driver’s license and its nice to not have to explain my appearance to the people at the liquor store when I get carded. Though getting carded at all is an NSV in itself cuz im like 50 years old. Lol. Congrats, and enjoy the broken face!

Update: I didn't get anything. Why? Because all the sizes on sale were Small, or XL or XXL. In several shops. And you know who's completely, boringly normal? Me. And that, my friends, was the NSV of the year. That poor shop lady looked at me like I was an idiot when I said "actually, it's TOTALLY fine that I can't fit into that shirt in XXL. And see, XL doesn't work either", totally happy. She was like "ok kewl, Crazy, now step back from the mirror and like 50 feet out to the street pls or I'll call the cops." -

I was thinking to myself: why don't I know where to shop men's clothes in this city? Then I remembered it was because I used to wear a 6XL and could only shop online. For more than a decade. Today, a few shops will see me bring items in size L and M - and 32" pants, if you can believe it (I still can't) into the dressing rooms. I'm not sure I'm even needing anything, I've changed my wardrobe already. I just want to go out to shop and not feel out of place. Simply planning to do that feels like such a NSV. Wish me luck! Reference expectation, except I'm not really a hooker. Or a woman. Or in LA. -

Last year around Christmas, I found my perfect Christmas sweater. It is a fair aisle St. Louis Cardinals Christmas sweater. I'm a very big fan. It was on clearance for 15 bucks and an Xl. I was a 5x at my biggest and 3x when I bought it. When I showed it to my husband he said he couldn't picture me being small enough to wear it. It is more like a large or medium than and xl. I told him you wait. I will wear this next year at Christmas. Well, I DID wear it this year and he thought I looked hot! [emoji16] It's probably dumb to some people but being a big baseball fan I was always sad I couldn't get the cute women's clothes they sell for fans. This is probably my favorite NSV!! Back with a new NSV: I officially weigh less than my husband. First time in our 25 years of being together. Not only can I wear his shirts, but they are baggy on me. -

Weirdest NSV of the week: went back for a follow up with my PCP for something I went in for two weeks before surgery, and after the nurse entered in my weight she got an error because the drop was so large so quickly that she needed a supervisor to come make sure the numbers weren't added incorrectly, and flag my file. Once I caught on to why she was so confused and concerned, I explained about surgery and everyone was VERY relieved. -

Pre-surgery, I am down 3-4 sizes on bottoms (size 26-28 from size 32). I'm wearing big baggy tops for now. I've stitched up the size seams of all of my underpants and bras and swimwear so I won't have to buy new during the immediate transitional period. Surgery is just a week away, so I will have to buy more soon and also take a trip to Goodwill to buy pants and tops. I think can get by with my winter sweaters and coats. Best NSV of all, I went out to lunch last weekend and sat in a booth, with room to spare between my belly and the table. That hasn't happened in years. -

Great NSV for me today. I got some blood work back and my A1C dropped to 4.9 and Glucose to 87. This is a huge change for me. In just over 3 months I have lowered my A1C by 2 points, Glucose by 40, Improved blood pressure to 115/70 unmedicated, come off Diabetes meds, Cholesteral meds and Blood Pressure Meds. It is as close to a miracle as I have ever experienced. -

So it turns out that 7kg or about 15.5 pounds is what I need now. Took some trial and error but my buoyancy seemed pretty good with that weight. Another weird NSV - I play the violin and I am going to need a new shoulder rest. There is a lot more room between my chin and shoulder now. I hadn't even thought about that until I wondered why I was cramping up during rehearsal the other night.
