I also found genepro, I lIke it much more than unjury. It dissolves better and is more concentrated, a small scoop is 30 grams vs 21 for unjury I believe. I bought it off Amazon.com.

26lbs, that is amazing!! I am using an unflavored protein powder, GENEPRO. 30g in one scoop. Really does not have flavor as mixes completely into all food I have tried as long as the food is not too hot. I was also over all the sweet and artificial sweeteners. This powder has been a life saver. I have also had days where water has a weird taste. It is odd because I am drinking the same brand of bottle water and some days it just taste bitter almost. Those days I mix some lemonade crystal light into my water and it makes it easier. I am never hungry either but make myself eat some because my body cannot heal without it. Keep pushing yourself little by little, it will get better. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Why is everything sweet?
JamieLogical replied to doppelganger's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would be cautious about counting 15 grams of Genepro as 30 grams of protein. The science is still out on it, so to speak. No independent studies have verified those claims. I would still only count it as 15 grams until there is more evidence available. Getting the benefits of the extra protein won't hurt you if their claims are true. But thinking you are meeting your protein goals and really only getting half as much as you need really could cost you down the line. So my advice would be to still count a serving as 15 grams for the purposes of meeting your daily goal and if you come out ahead, all the better. -

After a lot of Googling this subject I found a product called GENEPRO. It takes half the amount that you need of other products for the same quantity of Protein because they put it thru a process that takes all the excess unnecessay byproducts out. It also mixes easier because of this and as far as taste, I myself barely taste it. I have mixed it in cold and hot drinks and foods and it mixes very easily. I am very impressed with this product. Sent from my LG-E980 using the BariatricPal App I looked this up and consulted my surgeons office and they have signed off on Genepro and recommend it. Unfortunately, it is not listed in any of the materials we were given as an option!! Also, I did force down a Priemere Protein shake yesterday which left me bloated and feeling crappy. During the same phone call asking about Genepro I mentioned this and was told if protein were on a grading scale of A-F my Dr's office looks at Priemere as a 'D'... Why in the hell not mention that? It's like they get an unjury kickback. Everything I've read is as above, barely able to taste it and the same protein content using half the product. I ordered mine from Amazon and it should get here tomorrow. In the meantime I was told JRobb and nectar are good alternatives and single packets are available at The Vitamin Shoppe. Thanks to everyone for their help it is so appreciated. I'm glad I could help you with finding something that works for you. You will find plenty of naysayers that want to tell you it is probably bogus but if your surgeon approves it you should feel comfortable using it as directed and not doubling up like others may suggest. There have been plenty of people who have been using it as directed and their numbers are coming back just fine. I have not read anything about the opposite being true. Not to mention the waste of money that would be. Your bloodwork should dictate if it works or not. Good luck! Sent from my LG-E980 using the BariatricPal App -

I bought the GENEPRO as recommended here. They sell single serve packs so you can sample it, and easily take it out. I mixed it with broth today and it mixed in very well and I didn't notice it at all. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3 -
Updated Lawsuit: Built Bar Fired Worker Who Raised COVID-19 Concerns
sillykitty replied to JessLess's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have no attachment to Built Bars (protein bars are not my thing), but I didn’t read anything damming in that article. I’d have to see the evidence in the lawsuit to determine if the company is in the wrong and is undeserving of my business. (For instance, I would never purchase Genepro due to the evidence in the lawsuit against them, and Genepro’s lack of response to the suit) -

Surgery 8/18/17 & life has changed dramatically. I rarely had a constipation issue before, after...my gut went into lockdown. Major taste changes, amount, speed of eating, all changed. Get it wrong, too fast, (still can't handle beef or chicken well) & I'll be nauseous, salivating like a water faucet left on, stomach pain. If I'm lucky, I'll throw up, usually saliva, maybe a tiny bit of food. Then, I'm good. But, the worst was gut on lock. I mean, ZERO URGE......until what went in must go. Pain...? Wow..! So, here's my routine now. Most mornings, oatmeal w/Genepro, maybe unsweetened applesauce mixed in. Btw..glad someone mentioned PRUNES! I will incorporate that too. BEANS...I try to have them in some form at lunch daily. Don't overdo cheese! But, most importantly, I take the recommended dose of Yerba Prima Fiber Plus caps (5 caps) at minimum, every other day. Once a day has worked well for me. BUT, I am going to try a few of the other methods too and see how those work for me. Glad this topic was posted!

I tried to emulate what I buy at the juice bar in LA Fitness Gym. Didn't work out well. It tasted good, but turned into a drink, more than a shake/smoothie. I need some ideas on how to "fluff" it up or other input. The PB and or cocoa powder powder also ended up "bubbling" at the top even after mixing. Ice also just disappeared as soon as I used the immersion blender on low. My chocolate PB "drink" 2 tbsp choc PB2 1 tbsp Ghirardelli cocoa 1 scoop GENEPRO Protein Powder flavorless (not the think bully whey type powder, this is "miconized" 8oz fat free milk, 3/4 cup ice cubes from machine 1 tbsp pure maple Syrup (too bitter without) 261 cal, 35g carb (28g sugar, 12 from milk) 3g fat, 43g Protein. Less PB2 powder? Less cocoa powder? More ice ratio? Thicker milk (fattier?) Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

I am a big fan of inspire (White Chocolate strawberry and Blueberry Cheesecake are my favorites) - followed by Syntrax. For unflavored, GENEPRO is my go-to.

Some things i bought and tolerated prior to surgery i couldnt stomach after. I have purchased multiple protein powders i couldnt stand as well as broth that i couldnt get down. I just purchased a tasteless protein powder that mixes well and you only need 1tbs to get in 30g. Genepro from amazon. -
Unflavored protein powder
Yaberhoo replied to glitterpockets's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was asking about GENEPRO on here. Is there any taste? Does it mix well? I have a few varieties of Syntrax powders and they just don't seem to get smooth, no matter what temp I use. Right now I am using premier Protein ready to drink shakes. I don't do so well with protein and need/want something that completely disappears(or as much as possible). Thanks! There is a small taste as nothing is truly tasteless but it can be hidden. It mixes very well under 140 degrees. -
Looking for people that had their surgery on January 24th or close to it.

Yes I'm on liquids until day 16 *sigh* I'm still trial and error with everything so far the only things I like are sf pudding, fudgesicles, and my crystal light, still trying to find a Protein powder I like because as of now I use GENEPRO but don't know if I should trust it has 30 grams or not. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Maybe try to put some extra liquid in them. Be it Water, milk, Almond milk. You could order some GENEPRO online. It is unflavored and is really great to add to other things. coffee if you drink it. If you add it to something warm temper it with some warm water get it mixed well then add it. Or you can make SF pudding or Jello and use some of your Protein Drink in it. It is very important to follow your Dr.'s guidelines. Good Luck

Unjury vs Genepro?
Bufflehead replied to Freckles70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't trust GENEPRO -- I am not sure what kind of alternate universe they live in where 15 grams of powder can give you 30 grams of Protein. A gram is a measure of weight. In the universe I live in, Isaac Newton helped us understand things like basic laws of gravity where you can't get 30 grams of anything from 15 grams of powder. The whole company seems like a scam. Look at the other stuff they sell. "Male enhancement" supplements etc. I think it's the modern day equivalent of the traveling snake oil salesman. So, long story short, my preference is for unjury because I trust them! -

There are hundreds of whey Protein powers to choose from. The best thing to do is to get samples from different companies and try them. Don't buy a lot before surgery because your taste and tolerance might change. I've used unjury and Premium chocolate shakes, and for me, both are very hard to take. They have a very strong whey taste and smell and they are very sweet.I discovered GENEPRO Protein from theses board and that's all I use now. You can find it at Amazon.com and the company websit a Muscleglen Research. It is odorless, tasteless, and can be mixed in hot liquids and most anything. Best of luck on your surgery! Carol

VSG on 4/16/18: My journey
TexasMommy80 replied to TexasMommy80's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am currently living out of a hotel and I am bored to death. I miss my baby girl and boyfriend, and I am ready to be home with them. Anyhow, the puréed stage is going really well. I’ve had applesauce, oatmeal and puréed chicken tortilla Soup. My surgeon said that he has never heard or seen of a leak after four weeks, so I hit my four weeks next Monday. I have so much anxiety about that, and I know that there are people on here that had later leaks, but I feel like 4 weeks is a good time to stop worrying so much. Outside of that, I did have my first instance of eating too fast. I came up to my hotel room and ordered chicken tortilla soup. It was so good and I ate too fast. Luckily I didn’t eat too much, but I was miserable for a good half hour. Another thing is that I am surprised at how little of an appetite I actually have. I have not been hungry since having the soup (at 2:30), and it is 10:30 now. I just forced myself to have a little applesauce because I am getting so few calories. I can’t do Protein Shakes anymore so I have been depending on GENEPRO this week. I am going to buy some syntrex nectar next week and give that a try. I had a bypass surgery on 8th November, I think that lost weight is base on each individual on the first month I lost 39% of my goal weight but now am in a stall. For your Protein problem I highly recommend you GENEPRO the stuff is great you can mix it with anything cold or hot even your regular meals one scoop is 30g so it is easy for me to get my protein intake with the help of the supplement. They sale it at GNC look for reviews if you want to make sure before you expend the money because is a little pricy Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Roll call all who had surgery JUNE 2015
Kushka replied to JosieAppleHead's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello, Hello! I was sleeved on 6/22. I only weigh in on Sundays, and so far I'm down around 28 pounds since June 1st which includes pre-op and post-op. The three ladies who were sleeved with me on the same day at OCC are all down about the same. We would all be classified as 'lower BMI" I believe, so we are pleased. I'm in week one of soft foods. I also find it interesting that a scrambled egg goes down smoothly one day, and then sits like a rock another day. I tried some soft ground turkey this week, and the first two times it was ideal, and then yesterday I had serious stomach pain for about 30 mins, and tried to walk it off (same portion). I am working harder at chewing more, as I have dental issues and have never been a good chewer. This does not come easy for me. I love the taste of Shelley's Baked Ricotta (WorldAccordingtoEggFace), but it doesn't sit well for me yet, maybe because of the acid in the sauce. I am taking Omeprazol as prescribed by my surgeon. I'm also trying some of the phone apps that help with Water reminders, as I continue to struggle to get in more than 32 ounces of Fluid, which is a real no no. Today, I was not allowed to have my yogurt with GENEPRO (which I love), until I drank 16 ounces. That worked! I have a closet full of many sizes, and I have been able to shop there for clothes with tags still on them. I like that people are admiring my "new" work wardrobe rather than commenting on any weight loss. Keep in touch, June Sleevers!
