  1. I am pre op but have lost over 60 lbs already. I was expecting to loose some face fat by now but pictures really haven’t shown a difference… however over the last year i have lost about 8” around my midsection and 2” on my chest and about 1/2” each of my thighs… where did you “loose first”? when did you start loosing the face fat/reduced chin and neck??
  2. I found a pic of me before surgery and I took the 2nd pic today right after a workout and before my shower. When I look in the mirror, I still see the person in the 1st pic. But looking at these side by side, I can't deny that I actually HAVE lost weight, and you actually CAN see it. 67 pounds down in 3 1/2 months, and counting.....

    How to update weight

I've updated my weight before, but now I can't find the page. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks.

    Weight Watchers

I am about 3 and a half years post-op and have gained about 30 pounds back. I can't get mentally disciplined back to where I was. Nothing works. I can't seem to get off the weight. Has anyone tried WW? I need a solution that is not eating 800 calories, because I obviously can't get back to doing that. Thanks!
  5. I am 6 weeks post op from gastric bypass and have not lost weight in 4 days . Is this normal ?
  6. I am a little more than a year out from my gastric sleeve an initially lost around 75 lbs. I recently started back on my antidepressant and seem to crave carbs. I have put back on about 20 lbs and really need to get my snacking under control. In the past being on antidepressants was a major cause of my weight gain and I am trying to tame the carb monster since I started back on the meds. Any suggestions besides getting back to religiously tracking calories. I still work out about 4 days a week. I think focusing on my protein intake may help with the carb cravings but I thought I would see if others have any recommendations. Sent from my SM-G998U using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. In my first month I went from 300 to 250lbs. Once I finally made it past the three week (everything makes me sick phase)… I actilually began eating a little later than recommended because I couldn’t keep anything down. I’m now 1 1/2 months post op… I’ve finally gained my energy back and am working out but I not only stalled but gained 3 lbs my mom feels like I shouldn’t get down about it or obsess about it but has this happened to anyone else?
  8. I am pre op and will be starting my pre op diet officially in September. (3 weeks with 50 carb limit a day) Just curious about how much, if any, people lost during their pre op diet - and what their plan entailed…. (As of today 8/10/222, i have already lost 61 lbs from my highest weight last year just through changing my lifestyle and dealing with my binging and emotional eating - am excited for every ounce lost that gains my ability to actually live life)
  9. As of today, I am exactly 3 1/2 months post sleeve surgery and have lost 61 pounds!!!! I can't believe it!!! I still feel like I'm fighting for every pound, but I also knew PCOS would do that to me. Still, I'm so so happy that I hit that weight. I know it's going to get tougher the more time that goes by, but the fact that I'm losing and not putting the weight back on is huge!!!! I'm so excited. My next goal is to hit 320 (that will officially put me at a lower weight than I was with keto - even though I lost 100 pounds then, and it'll only be 67 pounds now, because I went into the surgery a lower weight than I was at when I started keto). After that, my next goal is to hit 299 and be under 300 for the first time since 2005.
  10. Hey everyone! I’m new here. I am in the process of having all my appointments for the Gastric Sleeve Bypass. I don’t see a lot of people talking about this particular surgery and wondered if anyone else has had it. It’s supposed to have the same outcomes as the RNY with less complications. This has been a long journey for me. I started the process several years ago and when I changed jobs my new insurance didn’t cover the surgery. That was devastating but now I’m with a much better surgical center and couldn’t be happier with the process. My biggest frustration is that the surgeon is requiring I lower my BMI before surgery. This amounts to about 40 pounds. It feels overwhelming. I keep thinking, if basic weight loss hasn’t worked for me before how am I ever going to accomplish this task! I’ve lost 18.2 pounds thus far. I know it’s good weight loss but I keep getting hung up on the final result and how far out of reach it seems. That’s all I can think of to share for now. I look forward to reading the journey of others.

  13. Here are some photos during my weight regain. I would have never show anyone these or upload these photos to social media because of how insecure I feel about my weight regain. I feel more comfortable and safe sharing these to the Bariatric Pal community.

Beautiful family! I completely understand your hesitation to post on social media. When I gained a lot of weight I actually remove myself completely off social media and now it’s been a few years. To be honest I miss it so looking forward to be more active online once I feel more comfortable about my weight!

Thank you!!! Right! my family and friends use to ask why I never post any body pictures, I was never comfortable in my own skin even losing 60 lbs. I am hoping this will help bring confidence.

  14. I have a question that I tried to find an answer to and just couldn’t get a clear one. I did email my nutritionist but it’s after hours and won’t here back until tomorrow. So in the meantime I thought I’d inquire here…. I was doing a little meal prep for the next few days and wanted to portion things out to 2ish ounces. I weighed and air fried some tofu…. Tofu is packed in a lot of liquid and even after pressing it there’s still a lot. Obviously the post air fry weight was considerably less, like almost half…. Now, the nutritional value is still the same, protein, carbs, fat etc. So if I weigh it after cooking and log it, it’ll give me the nutritional values for the cooked weight BUT shouldn’t I count the nutritional value of it uncooked? Thoughts? To add: I’m most just wondering about nutritional value here. I want to maximize my protein intake here and I don’t want to cheat myself.
  15. So, I've passed my initial 65% EWL goal, and I'm trying to figure out what my final goal should be. I know many doctors don't advise setting Ideal Body Weight (100% EWL) as the goal. Opinions? Have any of you achieved your IBW?
  16. Hey guys, I lost 14kg (30 lbs) in the first month and the pre-op diet combined. Average I think. But in the last 2 weeks I’ve put on 5 lbs!! I’m wondering if more movement could do it. It’s only in the last few weeks that I’ve been able to move around much. I really suffered after the surgery and had no energy. Anyone else put on weight? I’m frankly mortified. I must be under 700 calories per day easily.
  17. Did you loose weight with the pre op diet? how much? issues with hunger or fatigue?
  18. Do anyone use an WL tracker journal to tracker their weight lost Sent from my SM-G998U using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Hi 👋 Now I know that my own “team” should have helped me with this. But they didn’t. Now that the world is a smaller place and consultations can happen online, does anyone have names of *reliable/responsible *well educated and certified Psychologists especially for us bariatric surgery patients? I didn’t see anyone pre-surgery and I know that I need to both address why I got so big - and - how to get over those issues - and - how to keep losing now. All of us have limited money, right?! I hate the idea of spending my kid’s college money (which is what any extra money we manage to save ultimately is), on a psychologist who sees one patient like me in a lifetime and has to look everything up before I get to her and after I leave. You know what I mean? It also can’t drag on forever.. I just don’t have the means to be going for more than six months or so. Ideas for across the globe welcomed ❤️ Xx Lorna
  20. On 2/15/22 I underwent revision from VSG to RNY due to hiatal hernia and reflux issues. My surgery weight was around 230 lbs, actually a few less due to three days of liquid diet. In the 5 months since revision surgery I've lost about 40 lbs, but have been at a steady weight for over five weeks. I'm currently around 15 to 20 lbs away from my final goal. I had a post surgery follow up with the surgeons office and they just suggested I try to stay closer to the dietary guidelines. I probably was a little short on protein but in the couple weeks since have worked diligently to increase protein and reduce carbs. Yet the scale hasn't moved. Looking for experiences from others who had revision without a large amount of weight to lose. How did it go for you? Is this just a stall or my new normal? Should I expect to continue to lose, or am I pretty much at my new set point after five months?

    Losing more weight NOT exercising???

So I noticed that when I miss 2 or 3 days of exercising (my granddaughter was just here from another state this weekend and my work out schedule kind of went by the wayside) I actually lost 4 pounds. In 3 days. But when I work out, I tend to hold on to whatever weight I'm at and fluctuate by a pound here and there. I like working out, but I'm confused why I lose more weight when I don't do it versus when I do. Anyone else experience this? My work outs are twice a day: 25-30 minutes on the treadmill on 3.5 speed and 3.5 incline 15-20 minutes on bike at resistance 13 50 stomach crunches 50 sit ups Typically I do the longer times in the morning and the shorter times at night, because by the end of the day I'm just too tired to do the same longer time that I did in the morning. Am I doing something wrong with my workouts, or does my body just not like to do it?
  22. My surgery is not until 8/22/22 and I wanted to try out the liquid diet to see how it goes and maybe start some light exercising to get my body ready. A PA at my surgeon’s office told me to be careful and consider not doing that because if I did lose too much weight before surgery my insurance could rescind my approval. Anyone else heard of this? Should I get a second opinion? It’s not like I’m going to lose 100 lbs pre-surgery. For reference I’m 5’8/280/42.6 BMI and I have hypertension and PCOS (although I don’t think my insurance takes PCOS into consideration).
  23. Had my surgery on Tuesday. On Thursday I weighed 5lbs more than I did on Monday. Today, Friday, I'm down 1 lb. I know this is temporary, but hearing about how others' first week went will help me feel better if anyone wants to share. Doobie.
  24. Hi everyone! I'm 5'2 236 lbs BMI is 43. I'm scheduled for gastric sleeve on August 9th. After doing some research I'm seeing that many gain back if not, all their weight. I totally understand that this surgery is merely a tool, but up to me, to change my bad eating habits. I'm just wondering if anyone had permanent or serious health changes due to the surgery? Eg; fatigue due to vitamin loss, hormonal changes, permanent hair loss, no weight loss at all, etc. And anything you would share with me! Thank you!
  25. Has anyone else taken this for depression and noticed weight gain. I added it about a month ago and have gained a couple pounds. It’s supposed to be weight neutral according to my dr?? In all fairness I have been eating more but it’s almost as if the medication is making me more hungry.
