    My experience… sleeved on 1/22/22

So today is the first day I woke up without a weight loss. I know this is super normal but emotionally I just feel like I’m doing something wrong. My clothes fit better- but nothing is too big for me in my closet yet. The second something is too big is going to be the best NSV ever. I’m gonna let myself have a bit of a lazy morning- getting some laundry done then I’ll go walk at the gym and just keep moving forward. One day at a time.

    Small NSV

I had a NSV yesterday. I had set aside 5 pair of pants for "when I get down to that size again" and I've been working hard and have lost 25 pounds since October, so I thought I'd try them on. They fit! Now they go back on hangers into the closet rotation! Yay!
  3. Newest NSV - Carrying concealed all day without it digging into my side!! OMG Awesome!!

    My Face Is Broken!

Yep. Further, at 9 months post-op, I renewed my passport early (2 years before it was set to expire) because it was getting annoying/stressful having to explain that i was in fact me at airports. Im 3+ yrs post op now and a few months ago, I renewed my driver’s license and its nice to not have to explain my appearance to the people at the liquor store when I get carded. Though getting carded at all is an NSV in itself cuz im like 50 years old. Lol. Congrats, and enjoy the broken face!
  5. Exactly, embrace the NSV (non scale victory). We got this!!
  6. Update: I didn't get anything. Why? Because all the sizes on sale were Small, or XL or XXL. In several shops. And you know who's completely, boringly normal? Me. And that, my friends, was the NSV of the year. That poor shop lady looked at me like I was an idiot when I said "actually, it's TOTALLY fine that I can't fit into that shirt in XXL. And see, XL doesn't work either", totally happy. She was like "ok kewl, Crazy, now step back from the mirror and like 50 feet out to the street pls or I'll call the cops."
  7. I thought i was crazy for being so excited because i was able to tie my shoes without it feeling like it was an Olympic sport LOL #NSV
  8. I was thinking to myself: why don't I know where to shop men's clothes in this city? Then I remembered it was because I used to wear a 6XL and could only shop online. For more than a decade. Today, a few shops will see me bring items in size L and M - and 32" pants, if you can believe it (I still can't) into the dressing rooms. I'm not sure I'm even needing anything, I've changed my wardrobe already. I just want to go out to shop and not feel out of place. Simply planning to do that feels like such a NSV. Wish me luck! Reference expectation, except I'm not really a hooker. Or a woman. Or in LA.
  9. Last year around Christmas, I found my perfect Christmas sweater. It is a fair aisle St. Louis Cardinals Christmas sweater. I'm a very big fan. It was on clearance for 15 bucks and an Xl. I was a 5x at my biggest and 3x when I bought it. When I showed it to my husband he said he couldn't picture me being small enough to wear it. It is more like a large or medium than and xl. I told him you wait. I will wear this next year at Christmas. Well, I DID wear it this year and he thought I looked hot! [emoji16] It's probably dumb to some people but being a big baseball fan I was always sad I couldn't get the cute women's clothes they sell for fans. This is probably my favorite NSV!! Sent from my Pixel 5a using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. Back with a new NSV: I officially weigh less than my husband. First time in our 25 years of being together. Not only can I wear his shirts, but they are baggy on me.

    Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

Weirdest NSV of the week: went back for a follow up with my PCP for something I went in for two weeks before surgery, and after the nurse entered in my weight she got an error because the drop was so large so quickly that she needed a supervisor to come make sure the numbers weren't added incorrectly, and flag my file. Once I caught on to why she was so confused and concerned, I explained about surgery and everyone was VERY relieved.
  12. NSV recently was for the first time in many years I am able to shop in the regular sizes and not Big and Tall.
  13. A new NSV for me at 9 weeks post-op is getting out of the tub is much easier and I can push myself up with arm strength alone.
  14. Pre-surgery, I am down 3-4 sizes on bottoms (size 26-28 from size 32). I'm wearing big baggy tops for now. I've stitched up the size seams of all of my underpants and bras and swimwear so I won't have to buy new during the immediate transitional period. Surgery is just a week away, so I will have to buy more soon and also take a trip to Goodwill to buy pants and tops. I think can get by with my winter sweaters and coats. Best NSV of all, I went out to lunch last weekend and sat in a booth, with room to spare between my belly and the table. That hasn't happened in years.
  15. Great NSV for me today. I got some blood work back and my A1C dropped to 4.9 and Glucose to 87. This is a huge change for me. In just over 3 months I have lowered my A1C by 2 points, Glucose by 40, Improved blood pressure to 115/70 unmedicated, come off Diabetes meds, Cholesteral meds and Blood Pressure Meds. It is as close to a miracle as I have ever experienced.
  16. So it turns out that 7kg or about 15.5 pounds is what I need now. Took some trial and error but my buoyancy seemed pretty good with that weight. Another weird NSV - I play the violin and I am going to need a new shoulder rest. There is a lot more room between my chin and shoulder now. I hadn't even thought about that until I wondered why I was cramping up during rehearsal the other night.
  17. Back with more NSVs and LOVING reading all of yours. Here we go: I am fitting into the smallest "skinny pants" I bought back in June. When I bought them I couldn't get the zipper even close, but today I am wearing them. My mom is at my house rehabbing and I am giving her a lot of intensive round-the-clock physical care. There is no way I could have done this without the weight loss I've had. I have so much collarbone and a lovely visible jawline. I can't stop looking at them every time I pass a mirror. Space between my toes. I can cross my arms across my waist and still fold forward, in fact it turns out that without a big belly in the way this is a very comfortable position. I can also cross my legs or sit on the floor in a resting position with one leg comfortably crooked up into a bend. my balance, it is so much better.
  18. Lol, this is one of my fav NSVs too. I'll take the TMI a little further even (because if we can't do this here then where else?) and share that I can't get over being able to see between my thighs when I sit down, that there is "space" and a visible kitty cat. lol!!
  19. Oh heck no! I want to be a skinny person, not fly like one! 😟 My NSV is I can fit in a Miata now.

    Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

Have a mixed NSV from today! I'm 5 weeks out, and flew Southwest today to visit my parents for the holiday. I paid in advance for the COS extra seat policy, and when I got there I was stopped by a supervisor and told I wasn't big enough to qualify. I'm down 30lbs since surgery and about 45 since I last flew. The downside is that I'm still big enough that people don't exactly look thrilled to have me as a seatmate!

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Congrats! That’s amazing! I am almost 2 weeks post op too and I have been able to stop taking all my blood pressure medications!! Those NSVs make this whole process worth it already!
  22. My surgery was in July, but My favorite NSV so far is: Went to universal and fit on every ride easily. Last time I went I couldn’t do two of the rides!
  23. Thought I would give an update here. VSG was done 9/14/2021, today is 11/14/2021. THE GOOD: Down 55 lbs from surgery, 64 lbs from the start of the pre-op diet, and 94 lbs from my heaviest weight. Hypertension and asthma diagnoses were officially withdrawn. Hypogonadism is under review. CPAP average setting went from 16 cm H2O to about 7 cm. Have an appointment soon to see if I need it any more. Depression has almost completely been put in remission. Went from 52/34 to 36/34 in the same cut of jeans, and actually need to go see if they have 34/34 at the outlet. Went from 4XL or even 5XL shirts to L or XL (mostly XL). Went from 15EE boots to 12D; my arch has returned, which shocked my surgeon and my PCP. Running and enjoying it for the first time ever. Way too many NSVs to count THE BAD: Still occasional bouts of constipation which mess up scale results, but then it all, um, resolves and the number on the scale goes WHOOSH. Had to fire my NUT for being a horrible person. Found a new NUT who is amazing and who does the same fitness I do. The extremely restrictive diet (especially under the old NUT's "guidance") caused a massive drop in strength, which did not help at work. It also caused me to stall out. The new NUT increased my intake from 600-800 to 1000-1400 cals a day, and WHOOSH went the scale once again. It actually hurts to sit down because my butt is bony. I'm cold all the freaking time, even when it's objectively-by-any-sane-standard not cold. Needed a chiropractic adjustment because my hips are not used to carrying 25% less of me and were hurting badly. Had to replace expensive work boots because they were giving me blisters. Clothes I can get from the Goodwill and Ross Dress For Less; work boots not so much. THE UGLY: Eating too fast or even one bite too much means spending the next 30 minutes to an hour in great physical discomfort. It takes time for the full signal to arrive in my brain. Eating lettuce salad was, in hindsight, a really, really bad idea. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Some gnarly skin tags as my fat melts away, and the beginnings of some loose skin. Added in a daily dose of collagen peptides to help. One incision is still quite visible, though it's healed over. Starting to notice a little more hairfall, including head, beard, and chest. Still the best thing I've ever done for myself.
  24. I know I just posted recently, but I had another NSV today! I was at the gas station & didn't need to open my door to reach down to open the fuel door. I read this NSV on here from other posters before & remembered knowing exactly what they meant. It is so nice to be noticing all these little things now.
  25. I can cross my legs with ease!!! phew! Also, this weekend I flew in a very old WWII plane. Allegedly this was a 2 seater (open cockpit) but I had to sit sort of sideways to fit. 6 months ago, I would have been embarrassed that I had to squeeze thinking the reason would be because I was too big (and I prob wouldn't have fit) but, now I know I am healthy and was not embarrassed at all- just a little squished. Other weird NSV: underwear is too big! to the point of unwearable. lol.
