  1. Just checking on everyone. We seem like a smaller group compared to other months I'm down 42lbs. Its definitely come g off a little slower now. I am 3 months post op next week. How is everyone else faring?
  2. Well its that time of the week for my weekly check in. Today is 19 weeks I've been on this weight loss journey. I have to say my weight loss has slowed down too.. now it seems to take a few days to see any movements. I have started adding more real foods into my diet like tuna and mash potato which might explain things. It seems that it will take hard work to break into the 100s. As of today I'm sitting at 202lbs; I'm really hoping to get under 200 soon and eventually get to like 185 If possible I have ordered a decent rowing machine which I should get in a few weeks so that should help to move those last 20lbs as well as tighten up my belly area I've started looking into fasting where you only eat all your protein over a few hours then try fast the rest of the day with like just water and coffee and sugar free stuff...just trying to see if it will help kick my weight loss back into gear as I'm getting so close to goal!! thanks again Mike.

OOTD game is deteriorating. Today we are sporting hand-me-down joggers from the Kid, a nude back-up abdominal binder (cuz my regular one is in the wash) and a visible sports bra. Arms are bare due to aforementioned washing... Oh, and Crocs of course. I don't even bother with shirts anymore. Cuz: I'm too sexy for my shirt Too sexy for my shirt So sexy it hurts... - RSF, 1991

  10. Hi everyone, I had my initial surgery 10 years ago. I lost 98 lbs and it brought my 5'6" frame to a svelte 156.00 lbs. I was looking and feeling great. Then I started to get sick and was passing out about 2 years post-op. I found out my lapband had slipped and I went in for a revision. Again 3 years later I had to have another revision. After that time I gained weight and leveled at 180 lbs. I didn't like the number but with exercise I looked okay and felt good, so I was okay with it. Push forward 4 years and I have gained another 25 lbs and now weight 205 lbs. I have tracked my food intake for one-full year and I average 1100 calories per day. So how in the heck can I now weigh 205 lbs? I went to the surgeon and was sent for a swallow test and was told my lapband had been tilted and was extremely tight and there was no reason to gain weight. I was documenting food right down to one tic tac. Last month I had a double hernia surgery and it was performed by a surgeon who also handles gastric weight loss surgeries (not my original surgeon). He stated that my port was located in a weird area, and not the norm, the port was disconnected from the band and therefore, was not working! Not what I was told by my original surgeon. This surgeon re-connected the band and stated, the band is not tilted, nor is it too tight since it was empty, and he can fill it in February. My question is this: I keep feeling bloated and I continue to gain weight, I am currently 209 lbs. I cannot locate anything online that states how many calories is normal for labband patients. I find diets up to 4 weeks post op but nothing for long term. Would I be okay with 1100 calories and making that up with 75-80 grams of Protein per day? Should I be doing less calories? Has anyone been successful with 21 day fix or some other program in addition to the lapband? I really need help I do not want to continue to climb the ladder of weight until I am adjusted. Thank you!

  14. Day 10 Plastics Post-op Update:

  15. People Suck... I didn't tell many people that I had WLS (just Mr, the Kid, Mom, Sister & BFF). Those NOT in know were told that I ate much less, chose healthier foods, cut out carbs and exercised every day to lose the weight. I've been in maintenance for a while now, so being the main topic of conversation at family parties has lessened. My weight loss is no longer interesting, thank goodness. These past couple days, showing up at the various Xmas parties this season hunched over from my TT, I decided to let those who asked that I had plastic surgery to remove excess skin from massive weight loss. I was surprised to get the comments and questions most on here get from others when they share they had WLS! I got: "Why didn't you just do it the real way?" "Cutting your body parts off is a little drastic, isn't it? Why didn't you just go to the gym and turn it into muscle?" "I think if you just dieted more, your skin would have shrunk just like your body did"'. "Plastic Surgery is cheating". "Wow, that's pretty vain of you". After attempting to explain to the first two or three busy-bodies that skin cannot turn to muscle nor shrink with massages or lotions (!), I gave up. I always knew people are sometimes stupid, but man, extended family seems to always raise that bar of stupidity to new levels. Should have stayed home and kept my mouth shut. Le sigh. To add insult to injury, I didn't even get to dull the drone of their yapping with alcohol. I am on a regular date schedule with my new friend, BENEDRYL to keep the itching at bay, and have yet to finish my round of antibiotics, so I figured I should refrain. Which was too bad, as I'm sure a couple glasses of wine would have made these people much more funny and much less annoying. Le double sigh. Poop Watch 2019 continues... Today marks Day 12. I am carrying TWELVE days of poop in me, people. Mr. (he's a keeper) assisted me with suppository insertion this morning. After no less than 2 minutes, I felt the sweet, sweet urge to push. So I skipped (skipped!) to the toilet and out came........a partially melted suppository. That's it. Are you effing kidding me. Now, the instructions on the box said not to use more than once in a 24 hour period. It also said that it should have worked within 15 mins to an hour. So I'm going to try it again at 6pm tonite, which is 12 hours after this morning's attempt as I figure I basically pooped the suppository out before it even melted and do its thing. In the meantime I ate 2 prunes. Good News is that it didn't make me sick, Bad News is that I am not a fan of the taste. I am also drinking water like a crazy person. Miraculously, despite my backed-upped-ness, I don't have any pain nor cramps. Just a feeling of absolute bloat. Ugh. In other news... Haven't weighed myself since the day of surgery (I was 115 lbs even 10 days ago). Out of curiosity I stepped on the scale earlier and surprise! I am still 115 lbs even. However, I was fully clothed, along with wearing an arm compression shrug & abdominal binder, am retaining fluid to the equivalent of a 4.5" increase in waist circumference, AND have 12 DAYS OF POOP in my belly. Arms continue to not comfortably raise higher than my shoulders. I am not yet standing up straight. Hands continue to deflate and my forearms no longer make me look like Popeye (I'd say they are maybe 85% to normal) The v-jay is no longer sore (but is still looking up at me!) For some reason my skin on my face is FABULOUS. I suspect this is due to: (1) not wearing make up for 10 days (2) all the water I have been drinking (3) all the sleep I have been getting (4) swelling??? Been wearing too-big clothes for comfort and ease, and am totally looking forward to putting something cute on and going out. BUT. MY. PANTS. DON'T. FIT. Le Triple Sigh.

  21. I had my sleeve done on 11/18/2019.  It's been a trying time this month but the dietitian says I am doing great, even with the stress level I have been under.  My husband, who has been on hospice since September, passed away on the 1st of December.  It has been a whirlwind of activity since then with the funeral planning and getting through the funeral itself.  In the meantime, I have completely cleaned the house and threw a lot of stuff away, gave a lot of the groceries that I can no longer eat at this time to my cousin who really needed the help, bagged my husbands clothes and donated them to a local church thrift store, and gave his niece and 2 nephews items that I knew he wanted them to have.  Although I have a gym membership, I am waiting until after the holidays to go back to my workouts (I am trying to get over a head cold at this time).  My weight loss is starting to slow down a little but it is still moving in the right direction and should pick up again once I can get back to the gym.  I can still only eat between 2-3 ounces at a time and I found that food I liked prior to surgery either makes me nauseous or gives me really bad heartburn.  The dietitian says I can begin trying some new foods to see what I can tolerate, especially vegetables.  Hopefully I can expand my diet to more than just soft foods.

You just finished your first 30 days. Take it slow and enjoy the restriction, which at this point is when the greatest weight loss occurs in comparison to what is to come. I actually found that I enjoyed the liquid and soft phase because I could cook my veggies to soft and make soups with them and blend them. The soup was very flavorful and full of great nutrition, which is really important. Good luck on your journey!

Thank you! I am still sticking to mainly soft foods. I stocked up on different soups since I tolerate those the best. Whenever i something new, I use my scale to ensure I am not trying to put too much on my plate (it's actually a saucer). I can eat just a little and my dog gets the rest.

  22. Experiencing my first stall. I know it's normal. Just curious if anybody has any tips or something they've tried to break the stall?

  24. After 14 years, I had my lap band removed. I feel good, no post op issues, concerned that I will gain weight. My goal is to eat as if I had my lap band in place. About 6-8 months ago, I began experiencing an increase in acid reflux and symptoms related to GERDs. Two endoscopic exams showed tissue damage due to acid reflux, indications of Barrett's Esophagus, and band slippage. After a daily dose of Prilosec, the second exam six weeks after the first, eliminated Barrett's Esophagus concerns, but confirmed band slippage. Post Op of the lap band in 2005, I lost 105 lbs. Within three years, I gained about 20 lbs and maintained +/- 5 lbs for approximately 9 years to 2014. Leading up to retirement and after, I began the yo-yo weight loss-gain cycle, mostly gain. I am still down 65 lbs post op from 2005, but it has been a struggle. I think the acid reflux and early stages of GERDs was a turning point. I had been considering revision to a Gastric Sleeve for sometime, the removal of the band brought the decision to a head. However, due to the restrictive elements of a sleeve and my recent acid reflux and GERDs symptoms, my surgeon is recommending gastric by-pass over gastric sleeve. After several discussions and a lot of research, we are working toward gastric by-pass surgery possibly in March 2020. I am working on checking all the boxes for Medicare approval. The psych evaluation is complete and passed, in month 3 of the physician monitored nutrition and weight loss program, meetings with surgeon and staff, physical evaluation and recommendation from pcp is in the works. Without the restriction of my lap band, I am concerned about overeating and gaining weight during the transition while my lap band sites heals and Medicare approval.
  25. I’m on day 3 of the pre-op diet. So far so good 😊
